MLP AU Concept - Queen Chrysalis of Equestria

- During the events of "A Canterlot Wedding (Part 2)", Cadance and Shining Armor are prevented from banishing the Changelings.
- All three Princesses and the Mane Six are imprisoned in cocoons, placing them into stasis.
- Queen Chrysalis declares dominion over all of Equestria.

- As opposed to the Changelings taking a "Zerg Swarm" approach to their victory, what results is more of a military occupation.
- Queen Chrysalis and her Changelings institute a new government based out of Canterlot, relegating ponies to second-class citizens.
- The initial rush of conquest soon gives way to the realities of enforcing such an occupation; the Changelings are still a minority compared to ponies and need to rely on them to keep things running. Brute force and hypnotism prove increasingly less effective in maintaining order; the growing Changeling population is increasingly forced to cohabitate and negotiate with the ponies.

- Several years after her victory, Chrysalis finds herself exhausted having to manage an increasingly "political" rule, with the infrastructure, economy, and civil order collapsing into anarchy unaable to support pony OR Changeling.

- Chrysalis wakes up Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six, begging them for help; though completely unwilling to free the Princesses (the Queen knows full well what they'd do to her), she believes that the Mane Cast will be able to help her "fix" things and restore order, even if it means surrendering some of her iron grip on authority.

- Initially a very hostile/mistrustful relationship, with Chrysalis spending a lot of time insisting that Twilight is a bookworm and should be able to solve simple problems like slow economic collapse.
- Gradually morphs into a more open/vulnerable exchange; Chrysalis wanted a proper home for her Changelings, but unless she can find a way to compromise everything is going to fall apart. No ponies, no love, no Changelings.

- Possibly ends with the Mane Six being given official positions within a joint government, with order and prosperity slowly being restored (and an actual cultural exchange between ponies and Changelings beginning to develop)?
- Chrysalis agrees to eventually wake up the Princesses, but only once things have reached a point where they wouldn't be able to reassert total authority without challenging an already-peaceful system.

OTHER NOTES FOR PLOT STUFF MAYBE???
- Chrysalis takes over moving the sun and moon; initially this is pretty easy, but as things begin to drag on her energy reserves get lower and it starts getting much harder. Twilight's solution is to dig up information on pre-Equestrian unicorn rituals.

- Initially enforcing order is aided immensely by Changeling camoflage abilities, but long-term this just destroys trust within pony communities, helping to push them towards anarchy (nobody can trust anybody else). This also results in a growing "famine" for the Changelings.

- NOT SURE IF POST-SEASON 2 EVENTS CANON TO THIS?

- The Crystal Empire was secured shortly after its arrival, but was never activated; King Sombre is nowhere to be seen. Figuring out how to find and activate the Crystal Heart a key element of restoring prosperity?

- Black vines and such still a problem? Possibly one of the first things solved, providing a "greater threat" to tie up the Elements and keep the Mane Six from turning them on Chrysalis early on?
