  1. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says,
  2. "Greetings, I hope to not disturb you by my arrival."
  3.
  4. You cease your praying.
  5.
  6. Comprehension flashes across Qoivhae's face.
  7.
  8. Qoivhae waves goodbye.
  9.
  10. You tell Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort, "Did you wish something of me? I was merely
  11. returning to rest, as all seemed to be doing the same."
  12.
  13. The melodious voice of Qoivhae resonates in your mind, "No worries. Rest if you must, it could
  14. wait."
  15.
  16. You tell Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort, "I can postpone my rest without issue. What
  17. can I do for you?"
  18.
  19. Qoivhae inclines his head politely to those around him.
  20.
  21. You give Qoivhae a respectful salute.
  22.
  23. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says,
  24. "Pardon me."
  25.
  26. Qoivhae places his left palm upon your chest, and signs a blessing above your head with his right as
  27. he gazes searchingly into your eyes.
  28.
  29. Avaris folds both pairs of his hands at the small of his back, beneath the cloak of
  30. his wings. He does not protest the contact, though the deep red of his antennae flicks upright in
  31. surprise. "Might I ask what this is for?"
  32.
  33. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says, "It
  34. was not much like what I had said in our aetheric dialogue. I just wanted to check on you. I have
  35. heard rumours of what happened in Glomdoring and would like to know the specifics."
  36.
  37. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says to
  38. you, "The Magisterium blesses those who are in the Light and as such, we divine the light in
  39. everyone."
  40.
  41. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says to
  42. you, "It was only a blessing and nothing more."
  43.
  44. His expression is difficult to gauge, given the smooth and featureless nature of
  45. his face, and the compound manner of Avaris's eyes. He nods slowly, studying Qoivhae. "I see. What
  46. rumours have you heard?"
  47.
  48. Qoivhae smiles softly.
  49.
  50. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says, "Ah,
  51. it was something about Caleb and the Thorned Lady."
  52.
  53. With a brief chant of a prayer, Qoivhae plays upon Lachryme of the Everlasting Promise, causing the
  54. air to sparkle faintly.
  55.
  56. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you ask, "Indeed. And this brought you to me?"
  57.
  58. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says to
  59. you, "You could say so, aye. I just wanted a lucid picture of what happened. You see, the
  60. Magisterium preserves the morality of the Holy Church and checks upon what would seek to disrupt
  61. it."
  62.
  63. Avaris's wings whisper faintly as they shuffle gently into place. "I see. May I
  64. speak boldly? I risk causing grave offense with this, and I had intended to come to the Queen about
  65. my concerns, but given your role, perhaps this is an opportune time."
  66.
  67. Qoivhae whispers an "Oh?" and strums a low note on minorsecond.
  68.
  69. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says to
  70. you, "As you wish, please proceed."
  71.
  72. Avaris stands with no small amount of dignity to his bearing, his head held high as
  73. he looks upon Qoivhae directly. The multilayered tones and buzzes of his voice are firm, as he says,
  74. "I fear the Magisterium has slipped in their duty. You say that you work to preserve the morality of
  75. the Holy Church, and are vigilant about that which would disrupt it." He unclasps his hands and
  76. spreads them wide, indicating the city at large. "Yet we are allied with the bastard child of the
  77. Taint, the Wyrd. It seems I discover it has squirmed its way into the hearts and minds of a new
  78. citizen, every day. They believe it a benign force, a trusted ally." He lowers his hands, curling
  79. them into fists, and a pulse of deep, sullen red throbs through the eye-like markings upon his
  80. wings. When he speaks, this time, his voice is as an angry, vehement chorus, taut and shivering with
  81. anger. "It is /poison/."
  82.
  83. Qoivhae plays a string of soothing melody and until out of a sudden, a jarring note is heard. He
  84. smiles at you and explains, "The alliance with Glomdoring is a unanimous decision of the Star
  85. Council and in turn of the Holy Church. Although you may have a point that the Magisterium may have
  86. had its downs, I believe that the guild is work in progress. As for the alliance, New Celest does
  87. not tolerate immorality. We may have allied with the representative of the Wyrd but we adhere to
  88. checking if the other party is causing corruption in our city".
  89.
  90. Qoivhae continues, "...and if Glomdoring is proven as such, then it requires a merit to be discussed
  91. by the Star Council."
  92.
  93. You think to yourself: Disbelief - but not as strong as it ought to be, the repeated shocks having
  94. worn the jagged edge blunt.
  95.
  96. Avaris stares at Qoivhae for a long moment, the glaring eyes of his markings filled
  97. with a faint, but steady red light. "The Star Council is not infallible. You say that it does not
  98. tolerate immorality - Yet our 'allies' chose to aid the nereid when the Rhizoda was discovered, and
  99. continued to do so, despite learning of the abhorrent crimes they committed."
  100.
  101. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you ask, "You would ignore such an obvious lack of morality? Of
  102. simple consideration for the wellness of sentient beings?"
  103.
  104. Qoivhae brushes his fingertips gently across Lachryme of the Everlasting Promise's cheek, gazing
  105. softly into its eyes.
  106.
  107. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says to
  108. you, "Aye you are correct, Star Council is not infallible and the way I understand it, Glomdoring
  109. has the prerogative in what they do. Our alliance only covers the participation of each other
  110. whenever necessary but whatever they do is their concern. To each their own, I would say. However, I
  111. could inform the Star Council to inform Glomdoring to stop helping the nreids, but I lack
  112. circumstantial evidence. Do you?"
  113.
  114. Qoivhae taps his fingers on Lachryme of the Everlasting Promise.
  115.
  116. Accompanied by a rhythmic flapping of gills, Holy Prior Qoivhae Vivalde, the King Consort says,
  117. "What happens if the nereids if they were helped? I do not dare aiding them to find out."
  118.
  119. You think to yourself: Sorrow, of a deep and clear blue. Is there no hope in this? Why is is but a
  120. precious view who can see what is so obvious, that the Glomdoring is a corruptive influence? That
  121. letting them do as they will is precisely the issue? One need not encourage evil for it to spread -
  122. One needs simply to do nothing.
  123.
  124. You think to yourself: There is much of nothing being done.
  125.
  126. Avaris gives his head a small shake, the inverted teardrops of his eyes deepening
  127. in hue as his antennae drift down. "I see that this is not going to progress as I had hoped. If you
  128. wish to know, simply ask Xenthos, or the many that were present." He offers a stiff salute, his
  129. voice crisp and cool. "I will go to my rest now. Good day to you."
  130.
  131. A pair of ivory angel wings rapidly flutters, then carries you up into the skies.
