+Brian Hill __ I don't steal from other people and I always give credit where someone else has pointed out an idea, observation or term.

For example - with the above I was suggested the term "sham belief" as a replacement for "shadow belief".

For reasons I explain above I prefer the term "shadow belief" *but have found a different role for the term "sham belief".*

In my view that's a win-win but there is now a potential point of conflict.

There is nothing I talk about that I have taken from anyone else.

There was a time when I considered using the term "conjurer" (and I got that from "Eddie J" by way of "Jungle Surfer") *but I never used it because it didn't fit with what I am describing.*

It's a nice term - for some things it is appropriate - but it is not one I will be using.

For the record: I did ask "Eddie J" privately whether my understanding of the term was correct and whether he would mind if I used it. I asked for his permission and made it clear that I acknowledge it came from him (that it was really his term).

I don't think that goes the other way. For example - John le Bon (JLB) has taken to talking about and posting about the "lie system" but he does so without mentioning my name.

I would never consider doing such a thing. I would always ask for permission privately first. I would always do the right thing.

And with the above - with the term "sham belief" - I have asked for feedback from cabadejo.

There is one significant problem with accepting "hat tips" and that is it inevitably leads to ego problems.

In general my rule is to avoid taking suggestions from other people. I avoid it like the plague. But with +cabadejo  it has been a notable exception.

+cabadejo  has expressed a dislike for the term "shadow belief" - am I to feel bad every time I use it because it doesn't please someone?

This is the problem with accepting "hat tips". I know what I am doing and I know why I am calling things the way I am calling them. I am not just making up terms for fun. Each term has a precise meaning and a consistency.

It is the right term.

There are a lot of things I haven't yet talked about. Entire topics I have planned to post about but haven't yet started.

*The problem is that if people start throwing terms and definitions at me they are going to think I have taken their term and their definition.*

So I think I should use this as the right moment to shut down this avenue.

I should do the opposite and close that down and say "no more - please don't give me suggestions".

*Because refusal so often offends.* As a bystander this won't be appreciated. But when you're in the thick of it - only then will you know what I mean.

*I know what I am doing and I know how I am going about it. And I can't reveal everything at once!*

I know what it is I am trying to say and I need to say it in my own words. I really do.

You see - the problem is this: I am inclined to use the term "sham belief" but only in the way I have described above. But if +cabadejo does not like that way of using it then I am in a pickle! Because there becomes a risk of conflict/resentment.

If +cabadejo does not want "sham belief" to be used in the way I have described then I will abandon it and call it something else (such as a "snare belief" or a "trap belief" - anything but a "sham belief").

If +cabadejo is okay with my usage then that's what I'll use. *But I think it's best that I make this the final suggestion I accept from anyone.*

When I started I did not think I would have to worry about this sort of thing so soon. But yet now I am.

*You and everyone else are free to invent your own terms. You are free to anticipate what terms I might come up with. But I will do things in my own way - that's how it has to be done.*

If I use a term that someone has mentioned to me then it is because I have decided to use that term and not because I am "stealing" or "taking" it.

What I am trying to say is that a person could brainstorm and come up with 1,000 excellent terms. Then they could start throwing those terms at me every day. Some of them will be good terms! Some of them I will be inclined to use! *But then that person will feel a sense of ownership.*

At the start of each video I state that everything I do is for the public domain. Do what you want with it.

Now - do you think most people have that attitude?! If a person suggests a term to me and I don't acknowledge them - then they will be offended. Resentment may grow.

I have lost too many people over the past year for any more of that.

The people I talk to in comments and especially +cabadejo are helping me to focus and organise my thoughts. I engage people for that reason. But I don't want to have to worry about who said what word first.

As I say - everyone is beneficial to me - it is through these exchanges that I focus myself.

In my life I have had conflict and problems because of these things. I don't want it happening here. So it is best I shut it down.

If someone else wants to devise their own "lie system" description - then go for it. I have already outlined many of the core aspects.

I am not a plagiarist. I do not take from other people's ideas. *And anything I say that is similar to another person is purely coincidental because I have no problem whatsoever acknowledging someone else as my source.*

But I don't want to be in a position five years from now where I write a Google Plus post and have to list 20 different names because at one time or another they said something in passing to me!

So the solution is to say "thanks but please don't".

If someone wants to dispute my originality about something they are welcome. But I have cut myself off as much as possible from external sources so as to keep my influences to an absolute minimum.

I guess this is yet another of those things that I anticipated in time would happen but not so soon.

It is crucial that I keep my thoughts and ideas as pure as possible. Of course there are going to be some overlap and similarities with other people but that is coincidental and that is not my problem!

Anyway!

That's the way it is and will now be.

"Sham belief" will be the last term I consider from someone else and I'll wait and see if it's okay with +cabadejo before using or abandoning it.
