- Hey everyone. Submissions for AGDQ closed recently, and I ended up submitting Pac-Man Arrangement and Pac-Man World Any%. I originally planned on submitting all 3 PMW categories, but Any% is by far the category I care about the most and have put the most time into and at this point in time is the only category I would want to show off at a marathon. Regardless of whether either game gets accepted or not, I will be there all week in January, so wish me luck and I hope to see you then!
- A couple others and myself are trying to piece together a Pac-Man block this AGDQ, as only 1 Pac game has ever been accepted, and it was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miBPEMcrz58
- With PMW Any%, PMW2 Any% (race), PMA, and Pac n' Roll all being submitted this year, hopefully we can all put on a better show than that run from 3 years ago. Given the chance, I know we can. :)
- The games list does not get released for AGDQ until October 5. Until that date, I will be streaming only PMW Any%, but with a mix of PB/WR attempts and practice runs for what I would do at AGDQ if I got accepted. I feel as though showing continued activity in the game will increase my chances of getting accepted this year (I was told I was close to getting accepted for SGDQ 2016, so who knows?!). The fact that I recently got 31:55 and even more recently 31:21 also helps my cause I believe. :D
- After the final list gets published, I had originally planned on taking a break from the game. My recent grind to get 31:xx took a lot out of me - only having a couple PB-paced runs in 4 months and throwing away all of them was quite draining. Now that I've finally broken that barrier, I feel as though I would be able to happily take a break from the game. Recently, though, the game has become more enjoyable to play, so whether or not I take a break will likely depend on if I get accepted or not.
- If I end up getting accepted, I will continue doing my mix of PB/WR attempts and marathon-style runs until AGDQ, and then likely take a break from the game a short time after AGDQ ends. If PMW gets rejected, I will likely continue with the game until I get 30:xx (unless I have gotten it already by then). After that, I anticipate that PMW will be on hiatus from my stream for some time. There are a lot of games I want to run at some point, and I need to get to them eventually. While Pac-Man is on break enjoying his birthday in peace, expect to see any combination of the following:
- Spyro 3 Any%
- Ape Escape Any%
- Spyro 1 Any%/120%
- Spyro 2 14 Talisman/40 Orb
- Crash 1 Any%/100% (if I ever get a copy of the game)
- When PMW returns, it will most likely be an extensive Any% grind to get a 29, which I feel at this point is the "God run" for the game. With my SoB at 29:50 at this moment and with room for improvement due to both better movement and the potential addition of some crazy hard strats I don't normally do, I believe it can be done, and I will try my best to do it. After that, without the discovery of something else major, I will likely never run the category again.
- Thanks for reading this essay of sorts. I've always been a person who works much better with numbers than with words, but I think I did alright OpieOP
- tl;dr Going hard on PMW until games list comes out to increase chances of getting into AGDQ, will continue afterwards until 30:xx/until the event if I get accepted, then onto new speedgames for a while before the return for 29
