- I'm trying to setup a Nest Protect on Google Wifi network using the Nest app running on either a Pixelbook or a Pixel 2 (so all-latest-Google ecosystem, plus partner). According to the Nest docs[0], it uses the 2.4Ghz wireless band and will fail to connect during setup (the problem I see) when Protect is on 2.4Ghz and the Nest app's device is on 5Ghz. It suggests making sure both devices are on the 2.4Ghz band. According to the Google Wifi docs[1], it broadcasts both bands at the same time with the same name and steers devices to the best one (as a feature), and it's not possible to configure this behavior. It suggests using the wifi settings on your device to preference a band. Looking at both the Pixel 2 and Pixelbook wifi settings, this doesn't seem to be configurable.
