  1. Killer Alice:
  2.
  3. "If I had my way," says an officer leading three men in suits down the bomb shelter like concrete corridor illuiminated only by cheap florescent lights, "I'd turn the lights off and abandon this thing down here; not try and transport it anywhere."
  4.
  5. "As much as we appreciate the concern," says a small man with thin grey hair wearing spectacles and a grey suit, "during our reorganization its is peramount we keep entities such as this apart from others so it can't hurt anyone; as well as observe them and study them."
  6.
  7. The officer leads them past a door with no window to another door leading to a small room with chairs and a one way mirror. On the other side they see a typical room used to house humanoid prisoners, the special kind with no sink or toilet. There is a table with a chair bolted to the floor and in the corner of the room a pile of pillows and sitting on it is a human sized doll with ball jointed plastic limbs, wearing a blue Alice in Wonder Land dress complete with a big black bow in her blond hair. The doll is not only the size of a grown woman but built like one as well.
  8.
  9. "I was on the case," says the officer, "that brought this thing in; twelve children between the ages of six and seventeen...six women ages eighteen to thirty....and two men ages twenty five and twenty six; one of which was a transvestite. All taken over a five year period from Parisville Maine. Those are just the victims we know of when we realized the missing persons were falling for a code wonderland. Took us five years to track it down, and twenty one people had their lives stolen from them by this thing."
  10.
  11. "It murdered them?" asks a taller man in a black suit.
  12.
  13. "No," says the officer, "worse; this thing is like a vampire; its in the dossier; the long short of it is this thing can turn other people into dolls; or implant their minds into various toys. We tracked it down through its victims; some of which had tried to return home...three mistaken for haunted toys; by their own parents after being gone for two years and locked in trunks. A plush doll and a teddy bear. We intercepted the police chatter of those distraught parents insisting the souls of their children were haunting these toys...best we can tell it takes some time for this things' victims to gain the power to move around and talk for extended periods of time; if you didn't know better you'd mistake any of them for toys. It had opened up portals to some pocket dimension in each of the homes; we were able to investigate those two kids' home and find it, find the other victims; and trap this thing. Once we got it out though the portals all closed."
  14.
  15. The officer pauses, glaring at the non-moving doll in the corner of the room, "it killed three of my men bringing it in; super humanly strong, vicious, can manifest knives out of thin air."
  16.
  17. "It has weapons?" asks a man in a green general's uniform, "and its in a room like this?"
  18.
  19. "Can't break through the plexiglass," says the officer, "hasn't even tried. We tried to question it, but it just laughed at us and stopped moving. Some of our men thought maybe it was a ghost possessing this articulated mannequin and had escaped but...I think that's what it wanted us to think; the sensors detected it was still full of supernatural energies; its just lying in wait."
  20.
  21. As the four men stand in the dark eerie music plays from within the room, a slow nursery rythme sound to it; clearly emanating from the doll. It stands up surprising them and walks over to the one way mirror in a jerky stiff motion. Its hard plastic face stretches to a small as it climbs up onto the frame of the mirror and right before their eyes vanishes into the surface.
  22.
  23. "Fuck!" yells the officer getting on a phone, "Escape, I repeate we have an escape, Killer Alice, mirror travel, I repeat used mirror travel, astral experts to room 305 immediatly!"
  24.

  27.
  28. (Three days later)
  29.
  30. A cozy cabin in the woods, a nice retreat from society, however in the living room a mother shields her crying daughter in her arms as they are backed up beside the television, the exit blocked by a deranged figure, a woman with long blond hair down to her mid-back wearing a black bow in her hair and dressed up like a doll of Alice from Alice in Wonderland. She does not move naturally, her face looks like rubber with painted on complexions, eyes of glass, and her exposed elbow are ball jointed like a well articulated figurine. She is holding a butcher knife and moving about in jerky stops as if she were on stringes, "Stop crying," she hisses, "beautiful, you are supposed to be cute and beautiful, STOP CRYING!" she stabs the knife down into the VCR in front of the large television, electric sparks shooting from her hand down the blade of the knife into the VCR. The TV comes on showing a weird demonic Betty Boop like figuring singing, "I am Ni Ni Nana Nina, the Darling Devil Doll,"
  31.
  32. "Like that," hisses the blonde woman, "Sing, be happy, smile damn it!"
  33.
  34. She lunges backwards and her mouth stretches into a far too wide of a smiles, "Smile...no...wait,"
  35.
  36. She grabs her own head, "No..not right, did this wrong, impatient, but time...no time...must have..."
  37.
  38. An explosion of steam suddenly bursts from the side of the woman's head facing the window, the glass shattering in a small spot adjacent to her height and she tumbled to the ground. A large group of heavily armed men rush in through the front door, coaxing the woman and her daughter out; one saying over his coms, "victims are secure, no harm apparent, subject is...getting up."
  39.
  40. They draw their weapons as the woman rises up, the hole in her head rapidly repairing its self, plastic and hair reforming.
  41.
  42. She is hunched over like a doll on strings, "Not again,"
  43.
  44. She twists her neck unnaturally looking at them, "Why, why do you interfere with me? Why do you hate me? Why can't I be free?"
  45.
  46. One of the men fires at her, blasts of steam shooting from the holes in her torso, arms and legs, she falls to her knees only to rise right back up again as the holes close. Still hunched over however as the men fire a short burst at her again, her arms swings about on its own without her even looking swatting most of the bullets away with her butcher knife.
  47.
  48. "Toast the damned thing!" comes the order as the men fire at the woman, blasts of steam erupting from the bullet holes all throughout the body. Her body jerking about.
  49.
  50. Behind these armed men is a man in a suit holding a strange blue crystal in his hand. As he steps forward, the figure so damaged it is taking longer for the plastic and cloth to mend, steam turning to fabric and plastic as if these being were made of mist.
  51.
  52. "Twelve dolls," says the figure sitting on the floor leaning up against a brick fire place by a now hole filled couch, "Dolls on Wall, Twelves Dolls in All, All Beautiful and Cute must they be in order for me to free."
  53.
  54. Her head twist up at them, her glass eyes wide, "Why can't I be free? Why do make me suffer?"
  55.
  56. The scientist nods at the men, "Do you not realize you are making others suffer?"
  57.
  58. The doll woman lets out a hideous slow laugh, *heh....heh heh...heh....heh,*, "Not real, not people, dolls...must have twelve dolls to be free."
  59.
  60. She looks directly at the man, "Why can't I be flesh and blood again? Its not real, its a dream, a coma, she won't let me wake up, must have dolls to replace me..."
  61.
  62. "Who won't let you wake up?" asks the scientist.
  63.
  64. "My paralysis demon," sneers the doll woman standing and brandishing her knife, the armed men yank the scientist back and fire at her again. She topples backwards. This time however the scientist is quick to hold out the crystal as if it were a dagger, it glows with an intense blue light as he aims it at her, a blue beam strikes her and she lets out a very loud and horrific scream. Blue light erupting from her mouth and eyes, her plastic skin shining from the inner light. Her body falls over lifeless, yet still repairing its self.
  65.
  66. "Load her up," says the scientist.
  67.
  68. The men place metal restraints on the doll woman's arms and legs and carefully carry her to a gourney placing a black tarp over her and load her into what looks like an ambulance on the outside but loaded with far different gear on the inside. The woman and her daughter are sitting with some police officers and paramedics telling them about the crazed woman who had been stalking them and broke into their rental cabin.
  69.
  70. Inside the cabin the men notice something else, the black and white figure on the TV screen has stopped singing and dancing and its eyes are following them through the room.
  71.
  72. One of the men raises his weapon to the TV only for it to somehow falls from his hands as the figure wags her finger at them, reaches down as if turning a knob (the tv does not have a knob) on her side of the screen and *click* the tv is off.
  73.
  74. ******
  75.
  76. In the back of the rather high tech vehicle disguised as an ambulance the living doll is lying flat on her back on a metal table, metal clamps over her ankles and wrists. Nearby a screen is showing a blinking blue dot getting larger approaching a the edges of a blue ring labeled *active spirit*
  77.
  78. The scientist pulls out the strange crystal he had used before and nods to the armed men, "keep back a moment, I want to question this spirit. I don't believe it is an anima after all. We got more out of it in that house than we ever did before in containment."
  79.
  80. The living doll's eyes shoot open and she lets out a piercing scream taking them by surprise, she is thrashing about on the table pulling and contorting her own body up, an audible wrip echoes despite her screams as steam erupts from tearing rubber flesh around her ankles, wrists, and even shoulders.
  81.
  82. "Shit," exclaims the scientist, "hold it down!"
  83.
  84. the men grab and press the living doll against the table as the scientist shoots her again with the strange blue light from the crystal causing her to become dormant again; the blinking blue light on the monitor now just a tiny dot again.
  85.
  86. "Well," says the scientist, "guess we can talk once you are in your new cell, Killer Alice."
  87.
  88. ******
  89.
  90. *18 hours and three more uses of the crystal later*
  91.
  92. The scientist with four other men in suits and military uniforms are observing a room through a monitor. The room has no furnishings save for a table and chair nailed to the floor and on the table a few scraps of paper and a pencil. In the corner of the room the living doll dubbed "Killer Alice" is sitting against the wall, eyes shut, motionless and expressionless. However back in the monitor room the same radar like scanner on the wall has a blue wide circle reaching the rim.
  93.
  94. The scientist speaks into a microphone, "Miss, we know you are aware right now; we have equipment that tells us. I need to inform you that toom is completly sealed off, as you clearly don't need to breathe; we have dealt with entities like you before. There are no vents, the door is sealed as tightly shut as the door on a submarine; more so in fact. The concrete walls have a thick metal vault around them as well. The light, camera, and speaker are all on wireless connections and powered by batteries. You indicated before you were collecting victims, implying an attempt to escape a debt from something; this too we have encountered before. We are a real life version of something you may be familiar with; we don't know when you were turned into this living marionette form, so can think of us like the SCP, Men in Black, X-Files, the agency from the movie Hellboy; that sort of thing. We are informed and capable of apprehending any supernatural threat; just as did with you. Having caught you once we were also able to scan your specific supernatural signature allowing us to track you after you escaped; which you will note this new holding cell has no mirror."
  95.
  96. He pauses, there is no response from Killer Alice so he continues, "We may be able to turn you back to human,"
  97.
  98. Killer Alice's eyes open. The men in the monitor look to each other writing things down on clipboards.
  99.
  100. "However," continues the scientist, "conversly we will need something from you, and if you do not cooperate not only will you be stuck like that forever, but stuck in that room forever. The lights, the camera, and the speaker's batteries while long lasting will eventually die leaving you in you in a dark box forever. If you help us identify what turned you and what method you used to turn others we can reverse it and you and your victims will be free to go."
  101.
  102. Although Killer Alice's mouth doesn't move a slow laugher echoes through the room. The glass eyes turn up towards the camera as she speaks with unmoving lips, "Not forever, time will run out, if I don't have 12 dolls for her...12 Dolls on the wall, cute and beatiful must be all, 12 in all there must be, only then will i be free."
  103.
  104. "Not exactly what she said before," says the scientist after shutting off the microphone, "But I feel she is repeating back what something said to her, by the sound of it..."
  105.
  106. He clicks the microphone back on, "Miss, you have a time limit, need a specific number that is ridicilous considering this entity seems content with just you; possibly a nearly impossible task. Also when we caught you before you had turned 21 people into dolls. Why didn't that work?"
  107.
  108. Killer Alice's head actually moves as does her lips now when she talsk, "cute...and beautiful...she...she doesn't care for child dolls....only one of the women was to her liking, only one of the men; the one in the pretty dress with the pretty face. Not enough...not good enough..."
  109.
  110. "What turned you into a doll?" asks the scientist, "what wants the dolls?"
  111.
  112. One of the other men is about to speak up but is stopped by the scientist shaking his head, the man however has written down on the clipboard *Said Paralysis Demon when apprehended*,
  113.
  114. Killer Alice answers, "The Blue Fairy,"
  115.
  116. The scientist is about to ask a follow up when Killer Alice suddenly stands in one quick jerking motion, however her arms and head hang limp, she twists her head up to face the camera, "Blue eyed fairy...am I dreaming...or am I awake...was it a fairy or a ghost that day...am I sleeping and the demon keeps me paralyzed...or am I awake and a puppet with invisible strings..."
  117.
  118. The scientist taps off the microphone, "She is confused, definetly someone turned and forced into a game...this sounds like a fae alright."
  119.
  120. He clicks the microphone back on, "Miss, on the table is a paper and pencils, do you think you could draw, even a rough sketch will do, of the thing that turned you? We can use that to find it in our records, what it really is, and thus how to reverse what it did."
  121.
  122. Killer Alice laughs as she moves, now very poised to the desk, moving like a living person as she draws on the paper. The thing she draws just looks like a woman in a wedding dress with an oval head floating over a blacked out neck and a long black veil or hair behind it.
  123.
  124. Killer Alice shows them the drawing and then crumples it up, "Not good enough, not close enough, beauty, surreal, nothing captures it."
  125.
  126. Two of the men have horrified expressions and nod for the scientist to follow them to the door. The scientist speaks into the microphone, "That will do miss, we can use that to find out what it is, we will speak again later."
  127.
  128. With those words she just falls over on the floor as if lifeless, if not for their equipment they'd think she had passed out. The scientist and two others follow the other two out the door.
  129.
  130. One of the men in a military uniform speaks up once they are out of the room, "I have a bad feeling that I recognized the drawing, we need to go to the doll archive."
  131.
  132. ******
  133.
  134. *2 days later*
  135.
  136.
  137. The scientist and the officer are walking through a warehouse, on the surface this is an old brick building located in a small mid-western town a hundred miles away from the facility where Killer Alice is being held; on the inside it looks like a rundown facility that once made and cut sheets of fabric and other soft materials, mostly an empty space and an office overlooking the work floor; in one closet behind stacked boxes there is a door that leads into a hidden elevator in the back of a supply closet now only filled with the decaying remains of office supplies and boxes of odds and ends of small machine parts. Down below is another warehouse as large as that on the surface; the warehouse has mechanical shelves filled with filing cabinet like drawers and electrical equipment. The scientist knows this facility, three lanes over four of Killer Alice's victims are inside cloth lined drawers with electrical screens over their faces showing them various random television programs, their limbs and waists tied down to the lining of the drawer a simple pad on the sides allowing them to hit the sides of the drawer to switch the program as a next or back. A set up some of them find too kind considering these four had gone fully evil haunted dolls on people; leniency given only because of how recently they had been turned and the circumstances likely driving them insane.
  138.
  139. These however are not what they are there for as the officer leads the scientist not these drawers but something way in the back of the warehouse in the larger more secure drawers.
  140.
  141. "Here it is," says the officer, as he taps a pass code into the lock to open the drawer, he pulls it open, inside there is on the left side a coffin like box with a blue light coming to show what is secure in shipping foam. It is a doll with a wooden cone for a lower body wearing a white dress, long thin arms with pointed fingers, long black hair, and a round head painted so the head and neck are solid black with a white mask like shape on the face, eyes painted black save for blue circles in the center. The officer hooks up a laptop to a USB port going to a circuit board on the right side.
  142.
  143. The scientist watches as the officer scrolls through files, "you are about to see good men die," he says as he clicks on a file. It is security camera footage from the Society's Columbus Ohio facility according to the file name; it shows a hallway with men firing assault rifles at a large ghostly figure, looking much like the doll except the hair is far more ethereal. It is unphased by the rifles as black tendrils fire out from the hair killing the men. The footage ends and the officer brings up another file, it is a list of pictures with named like "The Faceless Twins", "Ragdoll Woman" , "The Tall Lady", "Devil Doll", "The Jester", "Mary Doll," and "Red Doll", he transfers a file from the laptop to the drawer, "Killer Alice." and brings up another file labeled "transport security footage,"
  144.
  145. "What is this?" asks the scientist, "you said there was a source,"
  146.
  147. The officer points at the doll in the drawer, "This is a medium we confiscated after two women were brought in, the Society called it a code godmother; a supernatural entity pretending to be a kind of guardian angel...we had them in custody and had the doll put in security. It shouldn't have been able to come for them going by everything they told us regarding their interactions with this doll. We don't know what it is but...watch,"
  148.
  149. The footage shows the back of a truck, a woman tied down to a gurney being sedated and three officers, there is sudden commotion and the girl on the gurney vanishes; the back of the truck suddenly is dissolving as the tall white dress wearing figure just walks through it and easily opens up a crate and takes out a doll hugging it and then vanishing.
  150.
  151. "the girl," says the officer was from an unrelated case, "the avatar of a cephalopodic psionic morph; it fled as soon as it sensed this entity appear. We also have reports it was present during the New York incident."
  152.
  153. The officer eyes the scientist who pauses as his eyes slowly widen, visions of New York full of monsters and under a red dome; yet it feels like a dream.
  154.
  155. "Thought so," says the officer, "don't think about it too hard; no one really remembers the incident, word is someone with an actual genie wished away the tragedy...we try not to think too hard on how given the power of the entities involved; but the world has been granted a reprieve from such things it seems."
  156.
  157. He disconnects the laptop and closes the drawer, "This thing however, The Doll Collector is what we call it, collects living dolls, makes them; we have categorized a small number of encounters we've been able to confirm are entities it created. What you saw however and reports from agents able to recover their memories of the New York incident, amount to everything we know about it."
  158.
  159. "I...see..." says the scientist, "I...will have to think about some of that later; but to the matter at hand can we are sure this thing is behind this victim and; her own victims, spreading it like an infection. Do we know the method of transmission then?"
  160.
  161. "Magic," says the officer, "other than that, no idea. This thing walked right through every magical defense we had, and the encounters we found are contradictory, including the legends. The closest to this case is one where its said it will let you go if you can give it a better doll than yourself; nothing about needing twelve of them."
  162.
  163. ******
  164.
  165. *four days later*
  166.
  167. "What do you mean we are abandoning them? We have the entity that turned them into dolls in custody, we don't need it to tell us how it did it we can shut her down and study her body; we have the equipment; we can study the victims too. You can't just pack them away like this."
  168.
  169. A man in a suit sitting behind a desk observes the scientist speaking to him and calmly states, "We lost good men to this Killer Alice, lives have also been lost pursuing the other dolls of this entity called The Doll Collector, while our men know their lives are on the line for this job; this isn't a television show; nor is this the regular military we don't exactly have an open casting call or recruitment operation for new men. This thing we have in that cell stole twenty one people's lives; and all because it thinks it needs twelve that fit some criteria it its self doesn't even know, its a vicious animal, a monster; either it will remain forever in captivity where it can never hurt anyone else ever again; or that bigger monster will come by and drag it into Hell; and no one is going to stop that."
  170.
  171. The man in the suit *sighs*, "You can review the footage of it until the camera battery dies; you might find it at least a little reassuring that it did try to escape, put a small hole in the wall with its knives, really pounded the wall like a jackhammer, the metal vault of course was unharmed by its attempts. However interaction is off limits. It surprised us once with that mirror trick, we don't want to chance any other surprises it has made. After all it was your recommendation we have any holes in the containment in the off chance it could turn to mist and reconstitute its self."
