  1. [Twitter]
  2. Securing Twitters can be more difficult than Instagram, so it's best for you that you follow these exact steps to ensure maximum security towards your account. Note that you must be on the Twitter Website (Phone or PC) to secure an account. PC's are recommended.
  3.
  4. Firstly,
  5.
  6. Email
  7.
  8. Head over to Edit Profile on your browser and simply change your email address and save changes. Like always, ensure that it is legitimate and is confirmed.
  9.
  10. Password
  11.
  12. Move over to Password on the left side of the tabs and make your password complex and hard to guess for others trying to guess your details.
  13.
  14. Apps
  15.
  16. Once you've changed your password, a screen like this should appear.
  17.

  19.
  20. Click Review Applications and simply Revoke Access to all the apps that are displayed. Same as Instagram, this removes all the 3rd party apps linked to your account, making it harder for the user to gain access to your account.
  21.
  22. Mobile Number
  23.
  24. This is optional, but head over to Mobile and simply associate your phone to your account.
  25.
  26. Extra Security
  27.
  28. (1) Login Verification
  29. (2) Password Reset
  30.
  31. (1) Login Verification
  32.
  33. Jump on over to Security & Privacy and enable Verify Login Requests, this is the 2STEP Twitter has implemented into their system which will text you a login code every time you try to access your account.
  34. Like stated previously, keep your phone provider and number private to avoid any text forwarding.
  35.
  36. (2) Password Reset
  37.
  38. This will send you a verification code to your phone number linked to your account in order to reset your password. Very beneficial and prevents others from seeing hints of your email.
  39.
  40. That's it for the twitter side of things.
  41.
  42. ---------------------------------------------------
  43.
  44. [Instagram]
  45. There are many ways to efficiently secure your Instagram account. I'll be going through the basics, such as changing your password and email. Then going more in-depth to breaking all pullable email links, adding and removing a facebook on the account, removing 3rd party applications and other little tips.
  46.
  47. Email & Password
  48.
  49. First you want to login to Instagram.com and head over to Edit Your Profile and simply change your email and password.
  50. Ensure that the email is confirmed and legit information - this can prevent you from locking yourself out of your own account, which you definitely don't want to happen.
  51.
  52. Breaking Email Links
  53.
  54. Whatever your email provider is (Preferred - Gmail) you are allowed to add an alternative (+) to the end of your email address. This lets you sign up to multiple websites using the same email address and having all your emails be sent to the one inbox.
  55.
  56. To breaking these links, for example, lets say you changed your email address and confirmed it to: example@gmail.com
  57. You now want to go back into settings and change your email to: example+whateveryouwant@gmail.com
  58. You will receive two emails in your inbox.
  59.
  60. (1) To confirm your newly changed email address
  61. (2) You being notified that your email has been changed from the previous to the current.
  62.
  63. You now want to confirm your email and head over to (2) and you will see something like this.
  64.
  65. [Image: 1a96480b5ce24249ae84cf2d4227f306.png]
  66.
  67. You now want to click please secure your account and it'll direct you to a page looking like this
  68.
  69. [Image: 3222404f64884123ad5eb2a2abccdd37.png]
  70.
  71. You now want to click This was me and now you're down with this section.
  72.
  73. *This prevents the seller clicking Secure Account and change the password to your rightfully owned account.*
  74.
  75. Removing 3rd Party Applications
  76.
  77. On the Edit Profile page on Instagram.com you'll see a tab to the left thats says Authorized Applications, if there are any apps listed be sure to Revoke Access on any of them.
  78.
  79. Removing & Adding a Facebook
  80.
  81. You want to be on a mobile device when doing this, head over to the Settings icon on your profile and go to Linked Accounts.
  82.
  83. [Image: h1q4EXq.png]
  84.

  86.
  87. [Image: tuA2TuF.png]
  88.
  89. To ensure your Facebook is linked, it'll be displayed next to the icon.
  90.
  91. [Image: 1vnvTPC.png]
  92.
  93. You then now want to log out of your account which will not put you on the login screen. Click Get help with signing in.
  94. Now choose Reset Using Facebook and click Ok

  99.
  100. Extra Info
