  1. [01:55] The meeting with Rector Laeknir had went well. Though, she'd agreed to assist him. The Pelleaux simply couldn't leave well enough alone. He had to try it his way first or else what was the point. That is why he'd finally decided to follow up on Rector al-Aziz's advice.
  2.
  3. With his young Servant Fors in tow he'd started across the peninsula of Esshar. Journeying beyond the borders of the settled parts of the land. As they climbed up a mountain upon the western border. That alone kept them outside of Osrona proper for a week. Their efforts had finally been rewarded, just ahead was a primitive clearing surrounded by stone pillars which hinted towards their survival of the ages.
  4.
  5. "Our destination, the Hierophant's Shrine. Rector Al-Aziz had said this place possessed a particularly clear connection to the heavens." As he spoke his gaze shifted upwards. They'd gotten up high enough to break through of the clouds, which made breathing difficult but it had given them the best view possible.
  6.
  7. Rather than wait for conversation from his companion the Lord set his pace to the stone circle. Easily walking into the center of it. As he stood there his attention shifted towards the stones themselves. His right hand pointed towards on in particular that caught his attention.
  8.
  9. "Look there Fors, you see the constellations there? They show the summer solstice which... The Rhoynish not to long ago had a celebration of. Meaning it should still be accurate."
  10.
  11. As he spoke he'd settle into a kneeling position. As he did so he slide his backpack off and put it in front of him. Opening it to reveal the components of a modern invention the original starseers wouldn't have had access to.
  12.
  13. A telescope.
  14.
  15. While he put it together he'd speak idly to Fors. "From here if my belief is correct we shall be able to observe the stars clearer than anywhere else in Esshar. Allwe've to do is focus, study, comprehend, and integrate the knowledge gained... Meditation in short."
  16. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [02:02] There's a simple gesture put forth, a mere flick of the wrist unto Claude's lantern. His request was, simply put, that he quench it - something Fors himself had done in recent time in the midst of his stargazing. External light detracted from the ease at which one could properly grasp the cosmos, and it made it far more difficult to cut loose all but what was above when a pathetic light shined into your eyes from a mere few feet away.
  20.
  21. "I meditated some days ago - For...well...a bit. It was a short process, really - a brief one, far briefer than I had anticipated. Robin told it could take weeks, hours, or never happen at all - but I tried anyways."
  22.
  23. He does not give further indication of the result. More meditation, and more knowledge, would be adequate - this, he knew. His gaze simply stretches skyward and marvels at the grand and beautiful scale of it all - an observational gaze tracing each and every single star amidst the constellation of Leonaus for further inspection, a mental note trailing one after the other -
  24.
  25. "It's always a different feeling, each and every single time I look up."
  26. (Fors)
  27. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  28.
  29. [02:13] With Fors taking his time to respond and look for himself. The scholar had the time to piece together the telescope. Though it wasn't as powerful as the ones that where built into buildings it would allow a clearer view than eyes alone atop the Hierophants tower.
  30.
  31. "You may feel the tug of multiple stars. It is not uncommon, I believe Robin once mentioned such a thing happening to him as well. In the end you'll be drawn to the one that is most true to you."
  32.
  33. As he spoke he'd take a step back fromt he telescope. Gazing up into the sky as they did so. Their gaze shifted about the night sky for a few minutes. As if searching for something. Then, he found it a dark spot in the sky. Barely noticeable down below but up here? It was at-least visible to the naked eye. His hand rose to point at the spot.
  34.
  35. "I was ordained to connect with Hiero, the Old Star. I've maintained a steadfastness with that knowledge over the years." As he spoke he'd look to Fors. Then his hand waved to the sky. "Look into the telescope and search the sky. Stop when you feel a sense of.... Rightness."
  36.
  37. He didn't know how better to describe it. Though, it spoke a lot that the man was pushing Fors to go first.
  38. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  40.
  41. [02:32] A slow, calm, and steady breath - deep, and dragged on so as to tug at as much oxygen as he could. The altitude posed difficulties and challenges of some sort, but it wasn't to an unmanageable extent for two relatively healthy and composed individuals. Not yet, at least. The light of the lantern fades as Fors grips the telescopic device -
  42.
  43. He'd nearly lost sight of Claude. He wasn't looking for Claude, though - He wasn't here to search for somebody he'd known for something over a year now. He was here to find something that'd tugged at him for that year - something that'd eluded him, gripping at the depths of his soul from the beginning of his pursuit to the very end.
  44.
  45. One eye closes, and the other places itself against the extended device - the constellation of Leonaus, shining above and as clear as ever from their altitude, becoming his immediate target. From star, to star, he drifted - from star to star, he searched, reaching out and grasping at that ''feeling'' he'd been told to search for - that ''rightness.''
  46.
  47. "That'd...explain a bit, I guess. The first one that I felt something toward wasn't the only one - it was just the first one that caught my attention in the heat of that moment."
  48.
  49. He drifts, tilting and skewing his gaze toward the ''paws'' of the construct. Among them, he searched, and among them, he reached out - attempting to grasp at and take a hold of that feeling he'd felt some time prior, that red flash, and that name that'd been made ever-clearer to him with each and every recollection of that crystal clear memory -
  50.
  51. Amidst the many, it was - a bulwark centered in the midst of the pad. The beaming red light enveloped him in it's embrace, Anos appealing in an instant to his better nature and innate desire to protect - to make the best of his situation, and allow any who'd cross his path to know peace and flourish underneath his watchful eye.
  52.
  53. The Grand Planet, House of Guardians. Reflective red flashes across the lens of his eye for a moment, likely unseen due to the positioning of the telescope itself. He felt himself slipping, and enveloped in entirety by the process - tugged away and taken even further above the clouds. He welcomes it, embracing that tug - that pull, so as to become one and achieve understanding well beyond -
  54.
  55. Another tug, bringing about a truth to Claude's assumption. A blink of the eye severs that tug, that pull, and his hands drift - almost unwillingly - further, the telescope lining up with the head of the lion to shroud his mind with a calming blue. A soft and gentle breath escapes, dragging out as the shrouded veil cast upon his mind by the starlight begins to fade away and offer yet another -
  56.
  57. Another path. Another alternative.
  58.
  59. There sat Iberl - The Poles. House of Firsts. An inhale, and an exhale. Enthralled, so to speak, by these tugs - these pulls, his body seems to act as if on the command of another. A puppeteer, pulling the strings - a hand releasing from the telescope and reaching out to the heavens. This was far different from his previous one, no doubt - far different from that previous interaction. As with the first, it held that thing - that ''rightness'' he was searching for - but it carried a calmer demeanor, a calmer disposition. As he watched it, he could feel the reciprocation of intent. So as he watched it, it would watch him - gazing down upon him with scrutiny, and perhaps even wonder to match his own -
  60.
  61. Simply put, it just felt that - Correct.
  62.
  63. Right.
  64.
  65. Claude could note something, though, in the midst of this - an object protruding from Fors's carrying bag. A telescope - the one he'd given him at the Cathedral, and the one he'd forgotten to actually take back. So rarely was it used, that Fors himself had even forgotten about it. Though hand-held, it was not much a gamble to say that he may very well be able to use it. Were he to take it, his own search could very well begin now.
  66. (Fors)
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [02:41] The young boy couldn't help but glance all the way up, recognizing a face he has seen not too long about- And in such a remote place, no less!
  70.
  71. Noticing that his torchlight potion is still shining a bit too much, however, he'll quickly set it aside, intending to try and eavesdrop a bit from a bit- The curiosity of a cat after... Hopefully it won't kill him.
  72. (Vincenzo Dillinger)
  73. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  74.
  75. [02:51] It wasn't hard to realize that Fors was struggling between stars. Deftly at the first sign of rapid motion the Noble had slid out of the way. Attempting to allow the young peasant the best chance at success he could get. Perhaps that's why as he waited his mind started to wander. To dance about the various thoughts that existed in his head at any one time.
  76.
  77. Of course his attention glanced to the telescope that was nestled in the teen's bag. For a moment he contemplated retrieving it, as if to reclaim ownership of the item. Yet, a thought echoed in his mind. A contemplation of the truth of such things. When one thought of it, looking back and inspecting the situation. That item had been given without a thought of it's return.
  78.
  79. The Lord mulled over that for a moment. He'd always felt his altruism to be something of a show. A fa軋de to keep the commoners on his good side yet the more time he spent amidst his servants the fonder he became of the low-class and with that fondness came something else. A fervent realization that things where not going as the stars showed. The city was in turmoil, a turmoil that threated to shake up the very foundation of Esshar.
  80.
  81. That's why he'd only smile softly, a gift given without thought of return. That was how he'd felt of the Knowledge shared. It was done to remove the stain of ignorance, to beat back the shadows of chaos. Yet, there was a duality to such thinking within the lord.
  82.
  83. By this time the man had taken a seat beneath the pillar of stone which depicted the summer solstice. He'd not came to see Hiero, he'd come to connect with Heiro. Yet, to connect with the ancient star required one to be sure of themselves to take time and think about what they where.
  84.
  85. What was he? In one breath he had mended torn flesh and given selflessly to the poor within the cathedral. On the other he helped rule Osrona's upper society through his patronage of the Fraternity, a wicked organization which dealt in death. Then he'd uplifted dozens of the poor and downtrodden. Putting them to work in his home. Teaching them, educating them to be ready to return to Sudbury and shed light within a darkness that would consume him.
  86.
  87. It was such a beautiful thought. He was composed of good and evil and yet... Was there a balance? Had he struck it. Could anything truly redeem patricide? There was a shimmer about him as he felt almost a connection with his patron as he looked inwards. Then, as that touch grew stronger throughout the internal debate. The internal realizations, something happened.
  88.
  89. His sureness faltered, he could feel the slipping of Hiero's light upon him and he panicked reaching for it. Yet, it was that very same panic which caused the light to vanish and his star to look away from him. With it's departure the nobles mood sank.
  90.
  91. His posture suffered as a bout of melancholy struck him. His gaze hazy for a few moments as he looked to not the sky but to the earth. It'd only be the slight creak of the telescope utilized by Fors that got him to look up. Yet, he would not allow his diminished spirit to stop the other young astrologists own discovery.
  92. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  93. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  94.
  95. [02:56] watches carefully from cover, waiting for something, anything, to happen.
  96.
  97. And yet... Seconds turning into minutes, one minute overlapping another.
  98. And nothing happened, at least from what Vincenzo could tell.
  99. While Claude was off in his own mind lamenting about what he knows, his beliefs, and understanding self, all that the felinae would see... Is just a man staring awkwardly towards something isn't quite certain- Is it to the sky? Is it to the man in front of him?
  100.
  101. That, is a question that Vincenzo won't stick around to confirm. Like a cat's curiosity after all, his own curiosity tends to burn quick as well, if it isn't stimulated, causing him to take his leave.
  102. (Vincenzo Dillinger)
  103. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  104.
  105. [03:03] {Item} You drop Starlight Staff.
  106. [03:04] {Item} You picked up Starlight Staff. Dropped by Claude vey Pelleaux. .
  107. [03:12] A flicker. A flash. Thoughts drift, and his mind wanders - the lad taking a single step backward to investigate the situation as a whole. Introspection, and Extrospection highlight him - they define him, that general desire to observe, to know, and to act based on this knowledge - this maturity, this composure, and this confidence stemming from such.
  108.
  109. It simply pulled him further in.
  110.
  111. His mind wanders as his own thoughts seem to appease that which had made it's presence known. Iberl, though silent, continues to cast a glow upon him - it's presence welcomed into his very soul, surging through him and making very clear the claim it'd made upon him as a whole. The game of tug of war between it and Anos are cut off in an instant -
  112.
  113. It was, simply put, made to be. Meant to be. The beautiful red is washed away by the blue, and it's all he can see now. For this, this foundation, he felt nothing but satisfaction - the ''vibe'' of this star being something he could understand and relate to far more-so than any other, appealing to him on a personal and spiritual level.
  114.
  115. A blink. He snaps back, aware of his surroundings, and speaks out to the visibly conflicted Claude -
  116.
  117. "The stars guide us."
  118.
  119. A repeat. Something he'd said before, now with confidence.
  120.
  121. "Our actions define us."
  122.
  123. Wisdom, well beyond the usual grasp of a povery-stricken 14 year old.
  124.
  125. "They aren't absolute, nor are they everything. They're a representation of what could be, guiding through example more than anything else -"
  126.
  127. He stares up yet again.
  128.
  129. "Define yourself with that in mind."
  130. (Fors)
  131. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  132.
  133. [03:19] Claude looked up and listened, he was no fool and understood some found a connection to magic and to their star more readily than others. Even now he'd not developed magic beyond Runecasting. Which was the most basic and widespread of magics. Perhaps that's why he so often put on a show of being in control. Then again often that show as proven correct.
  134.
  135. Standing from is position the Noble started to deconstruct his telescope. In silence as he thought about what Fors had said. It was a prophecy as much as a string of words. When you where chosen by the stars your mind expanded in ways men of the soil could never understand.
  136.
  137. "I cannot argue with the wisdom of which you speak Fors." All the while the man seemed to focus inwards. "Perhaps in time those hints will be the breaking point that pushes me further beyond what I am." With a breath he stood, the telescop secured in his bag.
  138.
  139. His attention drifted about the Hierophants Shrine oncemore as if to memorize the location. Then he looked to Fors, just from his dulled hues that looked like amber it could be seen that Claude would not be a cheery partner to travel with. "Let's return to Osrnona before the city immolates itself."
  140. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  141. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  142.
  143. [03:21] A simple action, following an enlightening result. He simply steps along after his superior, a whiff of growing flame bustling forth as his torch was hastily ignited. No further need to complicate, nor speak of riddles simplistic in design. It was time for them - to get back home.
  144.
  145. "Alright."
  146. (Fors)
  147. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
