It's not their job to care about anyone else other than themselves and their share holders. It's not a fucking charity it's a multi-billion dollar investment firm.

1st main problem with the film is that they didn't go far back enough to explain to the viewer why banks were doing sub-prime loans in the 1st place. The banking industry in america is WAY more regulated than most other countries and most banks hate doing home loans (especially 30 year loans) because they're lucky to make a profit.

2nd problem is that they made the consumer guilt free. It wasn't their fault for not reading their contract instead it was the fault of the evil banks who "trick" them. They had a contract right in front of them. It doesn't take a genius to go to a lawyer and have him/her explain it to you. It doesn't take a genius to go to a financial planner and have him/her advise you if it's wise for you to buy a 300k home with a variable interest rate when you're making 42k/year. Sub-prime loans were only 15% of total loans made for mortgages. The other 85% of people were smart enough to not choose those types of loans.

3rd problem are credit agencies. The doc made fun of the fact that credit agencies stated that their views are OPINIONS. There's nothing wrong with that logic. Their reviews are opinions trusted ones but opinions none the less. If you're a hedge fund and are going to invest millions of dollars base on the opinion of one firm and how they rate a bond you're A MORON. Fuck Mississippi i don't care if they lost all of their money buying up derivatives that were rated AAA by s&p. They should of taken the time to research the their investments.

Too much blame is put on bankers. If your going to invest more in a house, bond, whatever it's up to you to research and make sure that you're not being fucked over.  I also remember having a problem with the academics portion but to be honest I don't remember what was said in that part and would need to watch it again to remember what flaw I had a problem with it.
