I think the big thing for me personally is that, after G-Witch proved me wrong, Gundam has shown itself more than capable of thriving in this new anime environment, like it won't get instantly swallowed up by isekai or Shonen Jump stuff. That has given Bandai and Sunrise enough swagger to go hard on mecha stuff again, and they're banking on this and Macross being big hits to keep the momentum up. Back in 2021, I doubted Gundam's ability to recapture a market. Now I am hyped.

G-Witch was a validation run that they can experiment more brazenly and get away with it as long as more things go right than they go wrong.
