  1. >"I have a question, and it cannot wait."
  2. >You- Anonymous- have no idea why the zebra Zecora, the Everfree guru, came to your home of all places in Ponyville.
  3. >"Would you accompany me on a date?"
  4. >Sure, you always tired to be as friendly as possible to all the denizens that rolled through Ponyville, even that bitchy griffin that 'was' friends with Rainbow Dash.
  5. >This, however, was entirely unexpected.
  6. >"I can tell just by your face, you wonder why I am at your place."
  7. "Is it that obvious?"
  8. >She merely nods.
  9. "Well... I'm not against it... I guess I am just wondering... why?"
  10. >"I see a lot of myself in you, were we closer you would too. "
  11. >Well, you do remember just how freaked out all the ponies were when she strolled into town from the Everfree forest.
  12. >It was fairly similar to when you appeared in the town square just after some incident involving a lost princess or something.
  13. >"I know this all is quite abrupt, if you had plans I would disrupt...."
  14. >Her tone was defeated and her face crestfallen, it pulled at your heartstrings.
  15. "Hey now, you never really said when or what?"
  16. >She seemed to perk up.
  17. >"The when? Tonight my human friend, as for what, my plans can bend."
  18. >Were you actually thinking about going through with this?
  19. "And those plans are?"
  20. >"Dinner prepared for two by me, at my home in Everfree."
  21. >Home cooked meal could be pretty good, but for a first date? Maybe this is just how ponies, and by extension zebras, are.
  22. >The personal touch.
  23. >Still, maybe something a little closer to home for you.
  24. "How about we go somewhere around here?"
  25. >"Surely, Anon you can see, how these ponies look at me."
  26. >She was right.
  27. >Even after she proved she was no harm to them, they still treated her like a rabid animal.
  28. >Biting back your trepidation, you nod.
  29. "I understand. Your place it is. Should I dress up?"
  30. >Zecora was nearly jumping with joy at you agreeing.
  31. >"There is no need for such a measure, just your presence would be my pleasure!"
  32. "Sounds good, but how exactly am I going to get to your house?"
  33. >Zecora set down her saddle bag and started rummaging through it.
  34. >"I know I brought it a map along, with it you'll not be lead wrong."
  35. >You smirked at her words.
  36. >It was admirable how she stuck to the rhyming thing.
  37. >Come to think of it, you never heard her not rhyme.
  38. >You'd have to ask her about that.
  39. >"Here it is, my map will guide, you to dinner by my side."
  40. "Thank you. I'll come over around sundown?"
  41. >She smiled a toothy grin and nodded.
  42. "I'll see you then."
  43. >She leaves your doorstep and walks back to the main road, waving a hoof excitedly at you.
  44. >Once she was out of sight, you went back inside your small house.
  45. >You had a date.
  46. >You first date since you came to Equestria.
  47. >Not that you were particularly looking.
  48. >It was quite the culture shock, coming to a place filled with pastel ponies.
  49. >No pony had seen a living human before, according to one of the mares in town- Lair? Lyre? Lyra? Lyra!- You were something of a mostly forgotten legend.
  50. >That might explain why they thought that you were some kind monster.
  51. >That or you appearing mostly out of thin air in the dead center of town.
  52. >Regardless, you had a date and you were determined not to screw it up.
  53. >A shower was your first order of business, using some of that fancy stuff that Rarity gave you as a housewarming gift.
  54. >The hot water steadily streamed from the shower head.
  55. >You had a couple of hours to get ready and even though she said not to worry about dressing up, you couldn't help but try and look your best.
  56. >You got out of the shower and dressed in the nicest clothes that you had, and set off into town.
  57. >You felt the need to bring something along as a gift for her hospitality.
  58. >All you really knew about the reclusive zebra was her reputation as a witch doctor, and her being something of a mystic.
  59. >So in other words, not much.
  60. >Did mare's like flowers?
  61. >Was Zecora considered a mare?
  62. >You weren't really paying much attention to were you were walking to and, without realizing it, you had walked to Sugarcube Corner.
  63. >Maybe the Cakes or Pinkie could help you out.
  64. >The door to the confectionery shop opened with a chime.
  65. >"Heya Nonny! It's been exactly four days, eight hours and twenty....two minutes since you last came in, that's just three days earlier then when you usually do."
  66. >You learned quick enough that trying to understand how Pinkie Pie worked would only lead to further questions.
  67. "Yeah Pinkie, I was actually wondering-"
  68. >"If me or the Cakes knew if Zecora had a favourite type of dessert that you could take over for your date this evening."
  69. >You blinked in astonishment.
  70. >It had been less than an hour since you accepted the invitation, how in Equestria did she-
  71. >"Just a hunch."
  72. >Of course.
  73. "Well since you already know, can you help me?"
  74. >She pouted.
  75. >"Sorry Nonny, I don't really know her all that well. She refused to have a Pinkie Party in apology for the trouble I caused her."
  76. >Damn.
  77. "Is there any pony that would know?"
  78. >Pinkie tapped her chin in thought.
  79. >"You could try Applebloom! She was the one that helped the girls and me realize that Zecora wasn't some kind of evil enchantress."
  80. >Applebloom huh.
  81. >"If you hurry, she should still be at the vittles stand."
  82. "Thanks Pinkie!"
  83. >Wasting no time, you turned on your heel and ran out the door.
  84. >Pinkie followed you to the door and shouted a "See you next time and good luck tonight."
  85. >The Apple stand wasn't too far from Sugarcube Corner, and at your current pace you would be on top of it in a few minutes.
  86. >With the vittles stand in sight, you spied a bored Applebloom leaning on the counter top.
  87. >You slowed down as you got close.
  88. "Applebloom! Just the filly I was looking for."
  89. >"'Nonymous! What can I do ya for? Looking for a scrumptious -"
  90. "I'm actually not here for apples. I have a question if you don't mind."
  91. >"Drat! I ain't sold a- Wait. Whatcha' wanna know?"
  92. >You slowed your breathing.
  93. "It's about Zecora. Do you know if she has a favourite kind of food?"
  94. >The filly gave you a curious look.
  95. >"Zecora? Why'd ya want to know about her?"
  96. >Couldn't she just answer with out knowing?
  97. >Of course not, she's a kid.
  98. "Well Applebloom, I'm going to visit and I wanted to bring her a gift."
  99. >She seemed to give you the filly version of Applejack's stare down.
  100. >Unlike Applejack's, hers was 100% adorable, 0% intimidating.
  101. >"Well if she does, she hasn't told me. Though if your lookin' for a gift, I reckon that bringin' her some kinda flower aught to work. She's been teachin' me about all kinds of flowers and plants in Everfree."
  102. >A flower then.
  103. "Thanks Applebloom."
  104. >You reach into your bits pouch and produce a 5 bit.
  105. "This is for helping me out and I'll take a fritter for the road."
  106. >You ignored Applebloom's excited remarks as she wrapped up one of Granny Smith's fritters for you.
  107. >You rushed off to Ponyville's flower shop.
  108. >If anyone of the ponies would have what you needed, it would be Roseluck and her sisters.
  109.
  110. >The day was dragging on and you had to hurry.
  111. >You wanted to be off on your way before the sun started to set.
  112. >Even the paths in Everfree weren't particularly safe come nightfall.
  113. >Although it took longer than you wanted, you arrive at the Roseluck's shop.
  114. >Daisy was outside busily watering the window boxes that were overflowing with colourful petals.
  115. >She pauses at your approach and looks like she's about to bolt.
  116. >Looks like some ponies were still freaking over the no hooves thing.
  117. >You tried not to take it to heart and headed inside.
  118. >Roseluck walked the aisles tending to the fledgling plants.
  119. "Ms. Roseluck? Can you help me with something?"
  120. >Although you had visited this shop on a few occasions and, visibly, her discomfort at your person diminished, it was still obvious that just being you disturbed the flower shop owner.
  121. >"Anonymous... What a pleasant surprise? What can I help you with today?"
  122. >Barely a quaver in her tone.
  123. "I'm looking for some flowers with medicinal properties, the rarer the better. Do you think you can help me?"
  124. >She nodded and took lead you to a small fake pond, were a pair of blue lotus's grew.
  125. >"These lotus are from Saddle Arabia, they are considered by the locals to have healing powers. Was this about what you were looking for?"
  126. >You nod.
  127. >"Well, I could part with them, but they will be fairly expensive."
  128. >You could feel the bits emptying from your pouch already.
  129. "How much?"
  130. >"35 Bits for one, 60 for the pair."
  131. >A bouquet was barely 7 bits.
  132. >You honestly had to think about if this would really be-
  133. "I'll take them."
  134. >You said it on impulse, even Roseluck seemed startled you did.
  135. >You really wanted to impress Zecora, it was as simple as that.
  136. >No.
  137. >It was more then that.
  138. >She never treated you like the ponies did.
  139. >Not once did she look at you in fear.
  140. >She even invited you over for dinner.
  141. >You paid Roseluck the exorbitant cost for the flowers and headed off to Everfree.
  142.
  143. >Zecora's map was easy enough to follow, and as the last light of the sun disappear behind the horizon you had arrive.
  144. >She waited outside her hut and, upon seeing you, she called out.
  145. >"I'll admit to some fear, that you wouldn't make it here."
  146. >She smiles as you get closer and looks you over.
  147. >"I thought I said it wasn't needed, but you left my words unheeded.
  148. >You raise your hands in mock surrender.
  149. "Hey now, when a pretty woman asks you out you don't just come in your kicking around clothes."
  150. >She looks down at her hooves, clearly embarrassed.
  151. >Oh crap, did you actually say that out loud?
  152. >Mentally, you kicked yourself.
  153. >"So you think my coat is pretty? I suppose you think that's rather witty."
  154. >Though clearly blushing, she still seemed... disappointed?
  155. >Did she think you were joking?
  156. >"Please come in the pot is boiling, to the kitchen where I'm toiling."
  157. >You nodded and let her lead you through her home.
  158. >You sat down at a small table in Zecora's kitchen.
  159. >The tribal masks on that hung on the walls reminded you of some from a museum you saw back on Earth.
  160. >She notices where your eyes are wandering.
  161. >"These masks are from land afar, to ponies here they are quite bizarre. Still they remind me of my home, they remind me I am not alone. Tell me Anon, newest friend, and I mean not to offend. Do you have reminder too? Of a home lost to you?"
  162. >Her question took you by surprise.
  163. >She turned to look at you, her eyes showed genuine interest.
  164. >You thought about everything you had.
  165. >Even the clothes you arrived in were gone.
  166. "Honestly Zecora, I don't. Just my memories. I didn't even realize I was going to leaving Earth when I did. Even then, I don't really think I could have brought anything with me..."
  167. >"Alone with nothing from your past... forgive my question forget I asked."
  168. >You shake your head.
  169. "It's alright. I made my piece with that shortly after I got here. I even made some friends along the way."
  170. >She turned away from you looking into the bubbling pot.
  171. >"I will serve us our meal soon, and we can dine by Luna's moon."
  172. >You lean back and you feel the gift you had purchased Zecora still hidden in your coat.
  173. >You would wait until after dinner to give her the flowers.
  174. >Zecora turned and smiled at you.
  175. >"Could you lend me a hand or two? It would be much easier to serve this stew."
  176. >You got up and grabbed a pair of bowls, carefully Zecora poured a large helping of the thick stew into each bowl.
  177. >You moved to the table and placed the bowls on it.
  178. >When you turn around, you see Zecora standing on a shelf, looking through one of her many higher cupboards.
  179. >"I can not find the spice I seek---"
  180. >The shelf Zecora stood on broke and she tumbled backwards, shrieking as she fell.
  181. >You bolted forward and extended your arms, hoping to catch the zebra.
  182. >She fell with her back against your chest, her breathing heavy and eyes wide with fear looking up at you.
  183. >"You saved me from future bleak!"
  184. >Even after that, she still managed a rhyme.
  185. >You help her back to her hooves, and she pulls you into a tight embrace.
  186. >"Just a moment until I'm well, when I'm ready I will tell."
  187. >You return it, your hand running down her spine.
  188. >Slowly her breathing became normal, and she pushed away.
  189. >"While that was not my intent, a sudden foreseen descent, I have no qualms about it's end, a warm embrace from a friend."
  190. >You were all smiles as you and Zecora moved to the dinner table.
  191. >Over Zecora's hearty stew, consisting entirely of different types of vegetables, you told her stories of your time in Ponyville.
  192. >Every so often she would chime in a rhyme about something that happened in her past.
  193. "Zecora, I have to ask... Why do you rhyme everything you say? I don't think I have ever really heard you not just say a phrase."
  194. >A thoughtful expression sweeps over you companion's face.
  195. >"Well Anon, if you must know, I have always spoken so."
  196. >You had to admit, you were a little disappointed.
  197. >"I am not alone in rhyme, all zebras do all the time, I couldn't really tell you why. This is the truth, no word a lie."
  198. >After having your curiosity sated, Zecora spoke to you about life in the forest.
  199. >The inherent dangers.
  200. >A few close calls.
  201. >Even the full story about the poison joke incident, which none of the girls would tell you about in any detail.
  202. >Something about Fluttershy with a deep manly voice just makes you smile.
  203. >Slowly the conversation dwindled and Zecora cleared the table.
  204. >You reach your hand into your overcoat's pocket and produce the white case where the lotus lay inside.
  205. >Fighting back any lingering doubts, you clear your throat and place the case on the table.
  206.
  207.
  208. >Zecora's back was still towards you as she busied her hoofs with washing dishes, she cocked her head back to look at you.
  209. >"This night we had was truly fun, it feels as though it's just begun, although I know that you must go, back to Ponyville by moon's glow."
  210. >She was smiling but her tone gave away something was on her mind.
  211. "Actually Zecora... I brought you something, for inviting me into your home and cooking for me. I wasn't exactly sure what to get you, but a little filly told me you had a fondness for botany. I know it isn't much but it would mean a lot to me if you accepted it."
  212. >She stopped what she was doing and trotted to your side, eying the white case on her table.
  213. >"Is this it here inside this case? Will I need to fill a vase?"
  214. >How ponies held anything in there hooves was a mystery but there she was, her hooves opening the case.
  215. >Her eyes grew as wide as saucers as she saw the two lotus now resting in her hooves.
  216. "Is something wrong Zecora? Do you not like them?"
  217. >"Where near here did you find, two perfect flowers of this kind. Are you aware of what these are? They only grow from places far!"
  218. >She looked at you with wide, tear rimmed eyes.
  219. >What the hell were you thinking, why didn't you go ask Twilight if she had any books on-
  220. >"These flowers are of rare breed, rarer still their tiny seed, used in making potent brew, to coax lovers so they'll coo, affections grow by leaps and bounds, while each heart loudly pounds"
  221. "So I gave you the ingredients for a love potion?"
  222. >She shakes her head, smiling at your obvious confusion.
  223. >"No Anon, nothing so crude... couples use this to 'warm' their mood."
  224. >So it wasn't a love potion, then what was it?
  225. >What else could it---
  226. >Wait.
  227. >It was an aphrodisiac?
  228. >Well that was no big-
  229. >WHAT?!
  230. >You must have flinched because Zecora's rich laugh filled her home.
  231. >Your mind was still reeling at your huge mistake.
  232. >"Oh Anon, do not despair, your gift just shows that you care."
  233.
  234. >She pressed her head against your arm, giving you a quick nuzzle.
  235. >"Your gift was lovely, something I'll treasure, having you here was my pleasure. I must insist you say the night, and leave tomorrow by sunlight."
  236. >You considered turning her down and venturing out into the woods, but most likely it wouldn't be safe.
  237. >You had walked the forest before and were nearly mauled by timberwolves.
  238. "Normally, I would decline but... I had a lovely evening and I don't really like my chances in the woods without being able to read the map."
  239. >It was obvious that she was trying to hide her excitement, but the grin on her face gave it away.
  240. >"Come with me up to bed, I have a place you can rest your head."
  241. "I'm not taking your bed if that is what you are saying."
  242. >Zecora chuckled as she walked in front of you up the stairs, her tail swishing hypnotically left and right.
  243. >Were you...
  244. >Were you checking her out?
  245. >I mean you'd only really been in Equestria for less then a year...
  246. >You couldn't be...
  247. >You almost walked right into Zecora.
  248. >"Here I have room for a guest, I hope you have a pleasant rest. I will be just down the hall, if you need me please just call."
  249. >You said your good nights and Zecora trotted down the hall into another room.
  250. >You room wasn't overly large, with barely room for a bed in it.
  251. >Still it would serve you well.
  252. >You stripped down to your boxers and climbed onto the bed, pulling the covers over yourself.
  253. >You lay staring at the ceiling for about an hour, completely unable to sleep.
  254. >You tried everything you could think of but nothing worked.
  255. >Maybe Zecora could make you some tea or something.
  256. >You got up and padded down the hall, hoping Zecora was still awake.
  257. >You already felt like you were imposing just by staying.
  258. >When you arrived, the door was slightly open.
  259. >You could see her holding one of the lotus in her hoof, starring at it.
  260. >She seemed to be talking to herself, just barely loud enough for you to hear.
  261. >"If only Anon truly knew, what this flower means to you. Back home this was a token, of affections oft unspoken."
  262. >She gingerly places the flower at her bedside, and lays down, burying he head in her hooves.
  263. >Affection unspoken?
  264. >You briefly considered returning to your room until you heard a soft sobbing, mostly muffled by her door.
  265. "Zecora? Are you alright?"
  266. >"Anon is that your voice I hear? If so, please come near."
  267. >You pushed the door open, the scent of incense coiled around you as you entered.
  268. "I couldn't sleep and when I came down the hall... I thought I heard you crying. Did I do something?"
  269. >She seemed started.
  270. >"Anonymous! Heavens no! You did nothing, don't think so."
  271. "Then what is this about the flower? I thought you said they were for a type of potion."
  272. >She looked away embarrassed.
  273. "What does that mean? Affections unspoken."
  274. >She takes a deep breath.
  275. >"The potions part is just as true, I swear I did not lie to you. But amongst my Zebra kin, this little lotus with petals thin, means far more than most could know, oft to express a lover's woe."
  276. >You moved to the side of the bed and sit, listening to her every word.
  277. >She lifted her head to look at you as she continued.
  278. >"This little bloom, named Lover's Kiss, is given to those we miss. For words are not but wind in air, this blossom shows how much we care. It is not some somber token, it's a symbol love unbroken. For you to bring a pair to me.... filled my heart to burst with glee. Then your words pushed that away, that you knew not what Kisses say."
  279. >She reburied her head in her hooves, leaving you shocked.
  280. >How were you supposed to respond to that?
  281. >Turns out your gift meant a lot more then you thought.
  282. >"Forgive my foalish ways my friend, to think that you would want to spend, your life by a Zebra's side, to make her forget those looks so snide, of ponies both colt and mare, their cold, unwelcome, hateful stare..."
  283. >She spoke to herself by the end, her voice little more than a whisper.
  284.
  285. >You put your hand onto her back and petted down to her tail.
  286. "Now I never said anything like that. While I may not have known just how much that flower meant, it doesn't me I don't care all together."
  287. >Her crying stopped and she moved so she could look at you.
  288. "I won't deny it, I certainly feel something for you. Something that I have only really felt back on Earth. I'm not sure what it is but... if you think you'd feel the same way... I'm willing to give whatever this-"
  289. >Your wave your hands between yourself and Zecora.
  290. "Is a fair shot."
  291. >She nods weakly at you, and moved a little closer.
  292. >"I must confess to something too, I may share those feelings with you. When we first met you stood your ground, while ponies scampered all around."
  293. >You seriously hoped you weren't misreading this.
  294. >You brushed an errant strand of hair, that had fallen from her Mohawk, away from her sapphire blue eyes.
  295. >You watched her carefully as you slide your arm around her, your hand coming to rest just above he cutie mark.
  296. >Seeming to have caught on, Zecora leaned into your chest, moving so she could sit on your lap.
  297. >She rests her head on your shoulder as you bring your other arm in, completing the loose hug.
  298. >She sighed contentedly at your arms engulfing her.
  299. >"Just when I think you are out of tricks, you show me you can easily fix, a mood brought by my despair, a reward I think... you'd best prepare."
  300. "Prepare for what?"
  301. >She shoved herself against you.
  302. >Unprepared you fell back onto her bed.
  303. >She pressed a hoof on your chest and leaned in close to your face, close enough to see a mischievous glint in her half lidded eyes.
  304. >Part of you was frightened by her change in mood.
  305. >Another part however....
  306. >"I will not take without consent, will you let your guard relent?"
  307. >You barely managed to sputter out a yes before her soft lips crashed against yours.
  308. >Once your mind finally caught up to the rest of you, Zecora was already lying against you with your hands wandering over her back.
  309. >She broke the kiss and smiled at you.
  310. >"On the stairs, I felt your eyes, come to rest upon my thighs. No need for shame at the gaze you took, but wouldn't you like a closer look?"
  311. >You nodded, releasing her from your arms.
  312. >Chuckling at your eagerness, Zecora turned around and raised her tall.
  313. >Her arousal was obvious, between the soft mounds of her ass cheeks, her slit glistened in the candle light.
  314. >Even before Zecora had touched you, you had pitched a tent in your boxers.
  315. >"While I am sure it's plain to see, just what effect you have on me..."
  316. >You could feel her warm mouth just inches away from your boxer-clad member.
  317. >"You need not only stare me, should you want a taste, feel free."
  318. >You felt one of her hoofs tug your boxers off, leaving her panting mouth tantalizingly close.
  319. >Your hands took handfuls of Zecora's more than ample buttocks and pulled her closer to your face.
  320. >Your tongue met her excited flesh to great effect.
  321. >Warm juices dampened her inner thighs and spilled down your greedy tongue as you ran your tongue along her.
  322. >Zecora's moans reverberated through her body as she lay down on top of you, pressing her hips closer to your waiting mouth.
  323. >"It seems the night has just begun, now it's time for me to have fun."
  324. >You felt Zecora's wet tongue wrap around your dick, before she popped you all at once into her mouth.
  325. >The vibrations from her moans, matched with the skill of her tongue dancing over every part of your cock had you trembling in pleasure.
  326. >Her moans had you doubling your efforts, each time plunging your tongue deeper into her.
  327. >Your fingers joined in, holding her nether lips wide and you pushed as far as you could go.
  328. >On your final thrust her walls clenched around your tongue, as her whole body flexed in pleasure.
  329. >Hot mare cum splashed your mouth and chin as Zecora writhed on top of you.
  330. >Still breathing heavily, Zecora raised herself up on trembling legs to lay beside you on her back.
  331. >You push yourself up on an arm to lay on your side and look down at her.
  332. >Her panting sweat covered body lay all exposed to you, Zecora gave you a subtle nod and you moved to lie over her.
  333. >Your erection wasn't even an inch away from Zecora's vagina, you could feel the heat radiating off of her.
  334. "Are you sure you want to do this? We can stop there if you want."
  335. >"A lovely warm-up, but let's be frank, I won't be happy until you've shrank. Fill me up with your hot seed, only that will sate my greed."
  336. >She can barely stand yet somehow she can still string a rhyme together.
  337. >You pushed the tip against her welcoming slit, the lips parted easily as you slowly thrust in, earning you a low growl of pleasure from Zecora.
  338. >Her moist velvety walls clenched around you as soon as you pressed to your hilt.
  339. >Her sapphire eyes opened and looked up at you, happiness clear in them.
  340. >"Be sure to finish what you start, stopping now would break my heart."
  341. >You leaned forward, giving her a kiss.
  342. >Her eyes flutter shut and you start to pull yourself out.
  343. >She moans into your mouth and you thrust.
  344. >Slowly at first, letting her get accustomed to your rhythm and size.
  345. >Her hooves pat weakly at your chest as you continue your thrusting.
  346. >Needing air, she breaks free and gasps.
  347. >"Anonymous, please don't make me plead, I need you to increase your speed!"
  348. >You push yourself as fast as you could manage.
  349. >A familiar pressure built in your groin, as Zecora squealed in pleasure.
  350. "Ze...cora, I'm close."
  351. >Her back hooves pull you into her as hard as they can.
  352. >Her walls clench around your dick, pulling you over the edge.
  353. >Your seed exploded out of filling Zecora's tight hole, her fluids mixing with yours.
  354. >Exhausted, you lift yourself out of her to fall beside her.
  355. >You could see a broad smile spread across her face.
  356. >You pulled her close to you and kissed her forehead.
  357. >You were both a mess, but neither of you had the energy left to do anything about it.
  358. >Instead, you pulled Zecora against you
  359. >Tomorrow promised to be a strange day for you.
  360. >Soon enough, sleep took the both of you.
  361.
  362. >Time flew by since that fateful night with the flower.
  363. >You spent more time with each other, learning the your likes and dislikes, learning more of each others pasts.
  364. >After three months of officially dating, you brought up moving in together.
  365. >"Anon, it is as I said, why does it not clue in your head?"
  366. >You shook your head in dismissal.
  367. "I know, if you mix up a mixture something bad could happen but-"
  368. >"That is why I work out here, the ponies I might hurt are nowhere near."
  369. >You knew she was right, your shoulders sagged in defeat.
  370. "I just want to have it so when can live together, but I can't really move either. As the resident jack of all trades, I can't really afford to be too far from town."
  371. >"I must say come winter time, my little hut is not sublime, perhaps in snowy winter's grip, staying with you'd be worth the trip."
  372. >You thought about it.
  373. "So during the winter, you'll come live with me in Ponyville? What about the rest of the year... maybe I come stay with you on weekends, I don't normally take jobs unless it is an emergency."
  374. >"A brilliant plan, to be sure, simple, with it's own allure."
  375. >Come late-Autumn you helped Zecora close up her home and pack to stay with you during the Equestrian winter.
  376. >Life was great.
  377. >You shared your first Hearth's Warming Eve in your cozy cottage in Ponyville together, cuddling under a warm quilt made for you by the Apples.
  378. >That night was one you would remember for years to come.
  379. >A few days after, Zecora seemed to be getting sick in the mornings, and through out the day she would grow tired easily.
  380. >At first, you both thought she was coming down with a fever but it became apparent after none of her remedies were helping, that it could be something more serious.
  381. >When she could finally take no more, you bundled up and took her to Ponyville Hospital.
  382. >You had stopped in the night before on your way back from work to tell them something was wrong.
  383. >A yellow stallion in a white lab coat greeted you at the door.
  384. >"Hello Anonymous, Ms. Zecora. My name is Doctor Horse, I'll be running some tests on your marefriend to see if we can't find out what has her under the weather. If you would be so kind as to have a seat in the waiting room, myself and Nurse Redheart will take good care of her."
  385. >You wanted to argue that you wanted to be with her for them, but Zecora raised her hoof.
  386. >"Anon, my dear, you do mean well, and from your face I can tell, that you wish to come with me, but you must let the doctor see. It won't take long my sweet, so please sit now and rest your feet."
  387. >Begrudgingly you nod and sit down in the little waiting room next to a familiar looking colt.
  388. "Mr. Cake? Is that you?"
  389. >"Anonymous! What brings you here to the hospital? Nothing wrong with you I hope."
  390. "Not me, Zecora... what about you?"
  391. >Mr.Cake's eyes got bright as a Hearth's Warming tree.
  392. >"You know how the Missus and I have been trying for a foal."
  393. >You nod, the Cakes often needed you to fix something around Sugarcube Corner-Pinkie not always being the most careful mare- Mr.Cake would often come and talk to you while you worked.
  394. >"Well it turns out my darling's pregnant!"
  395. "Congratulations! You both must be so happy."
  396. >"We certainly are, she's just in for her check up."
  397. >You and Mr.Cake talk about happenings around Ponyville until Doctor Horse calls you over.
  398. >Mr.Cake put a hoof on your shirt as you stand up.
  399. >"Send her my well wishes will ya?"
  400. >You nod and follow the doctor down the hall.
  401. "What's the diagnosis?"
  402. >"It would be best to deliver the news to both of you."
  403. >He seemed very concerned, was something wrong with Zecora?
  404. >Within a few minutes you were reunited with your marefriend, you grabbed one of her fore hooves and share a quick smile before turning towards Doctor Horse.
  405. >"We have run every test we have and the results are conclusive. We aren't really sure how but... Ms.Zecora, you are with foal."
  406. >The words hit you like a land mine, your mind reeled at the thought that you could be a father.
  407. >"Doctor Horse, this can not be! Only Anonymous has lay with me."
  408. >Zecora's reaction was about the same as yours.
  409. >You told her about your visit to the Royal Physician when you first appeared, they ran a plethora of tests on you then, including a breeding compatibility test.
  410. >Every one came up negative.
  411. >Doctor Horse excitedly clopped his hoof on the floor.
  412. >"Well Ms.Zecora, with Mr. Anon's consent, we could take some samples from him to ensure that he is in fact the father, if there is some kind of doubt."
  413. >The implication of infidelity snapped you back to reality.
  414. "Ease off Doc, what you just said was completely uncalled for. I was supposed to have been examined by the top doctors in Equestria when I first arrived, now you are telling me that they screwed up?"
  415. >"Apologies to you both for my comment, I meant no offense but to be absolutely honest with you Anonymous, I don't know what to think. I'd like to run the tests again as well as a simple paternity test to see if what you say is correct. It's like you say, they are the top doctors in Equestria, missing something this huge would cause quite the stir in the medical community."
  416. >You looked you Zecora laying on the hospital bed, her eyes pleaded with you.
  417. "Alright. I'll agree to do the tests, but before I do, I'd like to speak with Zecora alone."
  418. >Relief washed over your marefriend's face at your words.
  419. >"Excellent! Nurse Redheart will be waiting in the hall for you. Take all the time you need."
  420. >Your eyes followed the pair of ponies out the do, the door clicked shut signalling that you both were alone.
  421. >When your eyes went back to Zecora, the floodgates opened.
  422. >"Anonymous, I beg you please believe, I would never try to deceive, you are the one inside my heart, from the first date's unique start!"
  423. >You leaned over her on the bed, and put your hand gently on the side of her face.
  424. "Zecora, I never doubted you for a second, it's just... I'm going to be a dad. Even after it was hammered into me by those doctors that it was impossible and would be nothing I could do about it... I just need to know that it's mine."
  425. >Your hand played at the edge of her ear, something that never failed to claim her in the past.
  426. "I am a complete mess of emotions right now."
  427. >Through her tears, she chuckled at you.
  428. >"As am I my precious love, though one amongst them stands above. One akin to shock and pride, for the human at my side. That we could have such a luck, simply leaves me awe-struck."
  429. >You bend down and kiss her lightly on the nose, earning yourself another soft laugh.
  430. "I know. We can celebrate after the tests are run, I don't want to keep them any longer than absolutely necessary."
  431. >You moved towards the room door only stopping for a moment after opening it, to turn and look at her again.
  432. "I love you Zecora."
  433. >"And I love you, future father. Now go on, don't be a bother."
  434. >You matched her smile with one of your own and stepped through the door.
  435. >Nurse Redheart looked up at you and nodded.
  436. >"Follow me please, these tests will only take a few moments each but we are going to run the full gamut."
  437. >Elation completely overpowered any worry you had as you followed the unicorn to the examination room.
  438. >"Well Anonymous, we'll start with drawing some blood for the paternity test if that's alright."
  439. >You nod as you roll up your shirt sleeve.
  440. >She dabbed at your arm with a moist cotton ball and pressed a syringe in.
  441. >"By the time we finish all the other tests we'll have a definitive answer."
  442. >...
  443. >...
  444. >"Alright Anonymous, that was the last one. Are you ready to hear your test results?"
  445. >After almost two hours of poking and prodding, you were more than ready.
  446. "I am."
  447. >She used her magic to float the paper to you.
  448. >You read and reread the results.
  449. >You were pretty sure that every pony in Ponyville heard you.
  450.
  451. >Despite her scowl, Nurse Redheart's amusement was clear.
  452. >"Well Anonymous, let me be the first to congratulate you. Against all odds, you are a father. If your interested, I can have the rest of the results couriered to your home once they are in. You and Zecora are free to go. The doctor has given her something to help ease the morning sickness."
  453. >You practically flew back to the room where Zecora waited, there Doctor Horse gave you a smile.
  454. >"Congratulations to both of you, it seems that even the best can make a mistake. As I was explaining to Ms.Zecora, I would like you both to come by once a month as the pregnancy progresses to ensure a healthy mother and foal. Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding this pregnancy, I ask for your consent to share my results with some of my professional colleagues."
  455. >Seemed alright to you, but you looked to Zecora.
  456. "It seems fine to me, do you have any objections?"
  457. >"No objections of any kind, just something for them to keep in mind..."
  458. >Zecora turned her head to Doctor Horse and narrowed her eyes at him into a hard stare, her tone both protective and threatening.
  459. >"There is something you must know, that is my family is no show. I will not brook my child to be, paraded round for all to see. If that's how we will be treated, expect from us our tempers heated, this is no simple empty threat, as a zebra does not forget."
  460. >Doctor Horse backpedals a few steps.
  461. >"I will ensure that we will conduct ourselves above and beyond one in our profession. You will not be treated as some a mere curiosity but as a mare, a man, and a foal. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some letters to write and some other patients to see. I look forward to seeing you in a months time."
  462. >The pony doctor beat a hasty retreat.
  463. >You looked at Zecora, you could still see her anger burning.
  464. "What was that about?"
  465. >She just shook her head in disdain.
  466. >The walk back home was dead quiet, punctuated by the crunch of snow under boots.
  467. >The uncomfortable silence continued far beyond arriving at your home.
  468. >It wasn't until she was laying on your couch by your fireplace, wrapped in a quilt that see spoke again.
  469. >"I mean each and all words I said, that is something I truly dread."
  470. >You move from the doorway to sit beside her.
  471. "Your worried that because of the way her parents look, ponies will pick on her."
  472. >She sighs and rests her head on your lap.
  473. >"Anonymous, though I'm filled with glee..."
  474. >You felt something warm and wet drip onto your leg.
  475. >"I am scared for what our child will be."
  476. >Zecora was crying.
  477. >"Look at how they react, to you and I heedless of fact. Never have we done them harm, yet our presence causes alarm. If two such strange outcasts breed...."
  478. "What she will be is perfect, regardless of whatever anyone or anything says. She'll be perfect because she's ours and if anyone has anything to say to the contrary... she'll have us."
  479. >"..."
  480. >Zecora looked up at you.
  481. >Your hand lightly tipped her head up, and you leaned into a chaste kiss on her lips.
  482. >You slept together on the couch that night, in front of the dying fire, locked in each others embrace.
  483. >"Oh Anon....you're all I need."
  484.
  485. >11 months.
  486. >It had been 11 months of ups and downs, mood swings and strange food cravings later and you were back at the hospital.
  487. >The citizens of Ponyville had been incredibly generous with their gifts for you, Zecora and the soon to be newborn, each offering all kinds of advice, books, toys, babysitting, even food so you would be prepared.
  488. >Zecora had been in labour for over a day.
  489. >You were barred from the delivery room, so instead you were stuck waiting by the door.
  490. >Your mind was racing.
  491. >What if something went wrong?
  492. >What if the foal didn't make it?
  493. >What if you couldn't provide for them?
  494. >What if Zecora didn't make it?
  495. >What if they both do and you aren't a good father?
  496. >That one scared you most of all.
  497. >Your mind ran over every possible scenario in your head, each making you worry more.
  498. >In spite of all the support you had, you still felt unready.
  499. >You could hear Zecora yelling inside.
  500. >"I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR RULES, ANON SHOULD BE HERE STUBBORN MULES!!"
  501. >You almost pushed your way into the room right then but Nurse Redheart barred the way.
  502. >"Please Anonymous, I know you want to see her but---"
  503. >"FETCH HIM NOW, OUR FOAL IS NEAR, DON'T JUST STAND THERE AND LEER!!"
  504. >Redheart took a look and you and move out of the way.
  505. >"In now. Just don't faint."
  506. >Within seconds you were at her side with your hands in her hooves, a blanket covered the lower part of her body.
  507. >Zecora screamed no longer, though her face contorted in silent pain.
  508. >The nurse attending Zecora began bouncing.
  509. >"Just one more push Zecora!"
  510. >A very distinct cry filled the room, that of a baby.
  511. >Not a foal but a human child.
  512. >"It's a girl!"
  513. >The nurse washed the little newborn and bundled her up, handing you the caramel skinned baby to you.
  514. >Wispy sliver and black hair lay flat on her very human head.
  515. >Her tiny limbs wriggled free form the blanket, throwing them towards you seemingly in show.
  516. >Your daughter had hands!
  517. >Was she a human like you?
  518. >Her little legs soon kicked free of the loose blanket, revealing soft hair, in the same colours and patterns as her mother's coat, coming up to just over her waist.
  519. >She didn't have feet, she had hooves.
  520. >Part Zebra, and part human.
  521. >All your worries resurfaced until she opened her little eyes, the tiny sapphire orbs extinguished them all.
  522. >She was yours and she was perfect.
  523. >An exhausted Zecora spoke tiredly from her hospital bed.
  524. >"Might I see my little baby, and even hold her maybe?"
  525. >You walked with the little bundle in your arms to her bedside, and place her in Zecora's waiting hooves.
  526. >Zecora's face betrayed no shock as she looked over the squirming child.
  527. >She looked up at you and smiled weakly, clearly exhausted.
  528. >"It seems I needed not be blue, she's a little of me and a little of you!"
  529. >You lean down and kiss your marefriend's cheek.
  530. "You go ahead and get some rest, I'll take care of anything else.
  531. >Zecora nodded twice before her eyes finally fell.
  532. >Nurse Redheart came and carried your child to the maternity ward so she could sleep.
  533. >In your excitement, you didn't realize it was well past three in the morning.
  534. >You made your way to Zecora's hospital room where your cot, lay waiting for you, followed shortly after you by an earth ponies orderly pushing Zecora on a bed.
  535. >He locked the wheels to her bed, turned off the lights and shut the door as we left.
  536. >A strange stillness settled over the room, all the frantic energy from what just happened melted leaving you feeling drained.
  537. >None of that mattered anymore.
  538. >Because you had something you've never had before.
  539. >Not just any family...your family.
  540.
  541. A Saytr's First Steps
  542.
  543. >You had been at this for what felt like hours.
  544. >Your wife Zecora was probably right, she wasn't ready for this.
  545. >Still Zecora lay with her belly to the floor and her hooves wide waiting at the other side of the room.
  546. >The doctor's called her a satyr, to everypony else she was Ayana.
  547. >Your little bundle of energy was just over nine months old and she had been trying to pull herself up for the last week.
  548. >So far attempts to teach her to walk prove incredibly unsuccessful.
  549. >Still there she was standing on trembling hooves with her arms over her head, you stood beside her at the ready in case she fell.
  550. "Come on Ayana, let's go to mama."
  551. >She lifted her left hoof and swayed uneasily before stamping it back down a little forward.
  552. >One step.
  553. >So far so--
  554. >You barely caught the falling satyr, sweeping the child up into your arms as her unsteady hooves gave out on her.
  555. >She giggled as you tickled her tiny tummy.
  556. >Zecora got back to her hooves and came to your side.
  557. >"It seems her hooves are still too weak, for now her chances seem quite bleak. Give her time, that is my hunch, well try once more after lunch."
  558. >Zecora stood up on her hind hooves to kiss you on the cheek and Ayana's tiny nose, before trotting off to the kitchen.
  559. >You set the Ayana down beside you on the end of the couch, watching as she rolled on her back and rocked side to side with a wide smile on her face.
  560. >You had no idea what was so fascinating to her about her own hooves but she seemed completely enthralled by them.
  561. >You watched as she grabbed at them, causing herself to constantly topple over on to the soft cushions.
  562. >You could hear Zecora coming out of the kitchen carrying a tray of food on her back.
  563. >"Anon if you don't mind, taking this tray would be quite kind."
  564. >As you stood up, you heard a soft tapping beside you.
  565. >Ayana slipped herself off the couch and ran to her mother's side, grabbing on to her front hoof for support.
  566. >Your expression mostly likely mirrored your wife's, a mix of complete and total shock as well as pride.
  567. >Sure, it wasn't exactly graceful, she looked like she was going to fall face first into the rug, but she actually did it.
  568. >"Anon, do my eyes deceive? My mind can hardly conceive..."
  569. "We spent all morning trying to get her to do that..."
  570. >As your sentence trailed off Ayana turned to look at you, blue eyes sparkling in the afternoon sunshine with another grin on her face.
  571. >You moved to take the tray from Zecora's back, setting it on a nearby table, then pulled both of them into a gentle hug.
  572. >Ayana laughed when Zecora kissed the top of her head.
  573. >You sat together on the floor of your home, enjoying Zecora's cooking and listening to the happy squeals of your daughter.
  574.
  575. First Day Of School
  576.
  577. >Today was a big day.
  578. >Zecora was already up and making a special breakfast for Ayana.
  579. >Today was her first day of school, and the girl of the hour was sit in bed.
  580. >Zecora was standing at the counter chopping fruit, while you sat at the kitchen table reading the Ponyville Paper.
  581. >"It seems our little flower, seems not to know the hour."
  582. "I'll go get her then."
  583. >You climb the stairs to the second floor and walk down the short hallway to what used to be your spare bedroom.
  584. >The door opens with a slight click, revealing a child shape lump covered by a large quilt. with a short mop of silver and white hair slightly peeking out.
  585. "Ayana... Ayana wake up, it's time to get ready for school."
  586. >"...uuugh..."
  587. "Ayana, I know you don't want to get up but you have to go to school today."
  588. >Ayana flips down the quilt's corner and looked at you sideways, sapphire eyes peering through her messy bangs.
  589. >"But Daddy, I do not want to go! The other foals will be mean to me. Can't Mommy and you teach me instead?"
  590. >You crossed her room with a few strides.
  591. "How do you know the other ones will be mean if you have never given them the chance?"
  592. >She huffed.
  593. >"I just do."
  594. "That's what I thought, come on I'll let you pick out your shirt today."
  595. >She frowned at you but relented nonetheless, raising her arms above her head.
  596. "So what do you want to wear?"
  597. >You ask as you pull off her pink pajama shirt.
  598. >"..........."
  599. "Ayana..."
  600. >"I would like to wear my gift from Mommy, if I have to."
  601. >You went to her closet and pulled out the hanging yellow sundress, handing it to her to put on.
  602. >"Daddy?"
  603. >You turned to see Ayana slipping into the little dress her eyes shimmering with tears, you move to her side with worry.
  604. "What's wrong sweetie?"
  605. >"I'm scared, I don't want to go, I want to stay with you and Mommy!"
  606. "I know you do honey but there is nothing to be scared of, Cheerilee is a great teacher and you would get to spend some time with kids your own age for once. Won't that be nice?"
  607. >"But what if they don't like me..."
  608. "Let me tell you something... When I first got here, people were scared of me."
  609. >Her bewildered expression was priceless.
  610. >"Of you Daddy?!"
  611. "Of me. When you get home today, I'll tell you the whole thing. By now, Mommy is probably wondering where we are."
  612. >You took your daughter's hand in yours and returned to the kitchen.
  613. >"I was wondering where you went, it's been quite long since your ascent."
  614. >You lead your daughter to the kitchen table.
  615. "Sorry darling, Ayana is a little scared about going to school."
  616. >"Daddy! I didn't want Mommy to know!"
  617. >Zecora chuckled at your half-hearted shrug.
  618. >"Ayana my dear, I must inquire, what makes you think that school's so dire?"
  619. >"Mommy, I am scared that the others won't like me and will pick on me because I'm not a pony."
  620. >Zecora's face softened and pulled the little girl close.
  621. >"My beautiful little one, you should know, you can't let your mood turn to woe. There was a time when ponies would, turn and run from us if they could."
  622. >She motioned to you and then back to Ayana.
  623. >"Daddy said. I didn't believe him."
  624. >"Your father's words ring true, in that time, I was blue."
  625. >Ayana was stunned.
  626. >"But Mommy, you are always so happy, and everypony likes you! Why would they be scared of you?"
  627. >"Dearest flower, trust your eyes, because we're different rumors rise, from pony who can't understand, then ridicule we must withstand. The only way to break this ring, is to show what you can bring. Not always easy will be your way, but beside you we will stay."
  628. "Mom's right kiddo, being different isn't wrong, so if anypony says any different, let us know."
  629. >Ayana hugged both you and Zecora as tight as her little arms could manage.
  630. >Breakfast was served and soon it was time to go.
  631. >Zecora gave Ayana a Zebra-back ride to school, while you walked beside them carrying her backpack.
  632. >As the school house came into sight, Zecora paused to let you lift your daughter off her back, to walk with her the last little bit.
  633. "Alright kiddo, after school I'll come and get you and you can tell us all about your day."
  634. >She nodded at you, still looking a little hesitant.
  635. >"Anonymous! Zecora! So lovely to see you, and is this the little lady I've been hearing about?"
  636. >A violet coloured mare with bubblegum pink hair made her way down the steps of the school house and towards you.
  637. >Ayana tried to hide behind your pant leg.
  638. "Nice to see you again Cheerilee and yes, this is our daughter Ayana, she is supposed to be joining your class today."
  639. >"She's a little shy I see. Well, that's alright. Would you like one of your parents to walk with you to the door?"
  640. >You looked at Ayana still half hidden behind your leg, she looked like a bobble head when she agreed.
  641. >"Well alright then. Your daddy looks like he'll be up to the task."
  642. >Cheerilee raises her head to look at you.
  643. >"Feel free to take her right in. She's free to sit wherever she'd like. I just need to go over a few things with your wife."
  644. >Ayana gave Zecora a hug and a kiss goodbye. then clung to your hand as if her life depended on it, as you both went up the schoolhouse steps.
  645. >"Daddy, do you really have to go? I'm scared."
  646. >You sigh and reach up to your necktie, loosening it before slipping it off entirely.
  647. "Zecora gave me that when we went to the Gala in Canterlot for our fourth date, it means a lot to me but for today, I want you to have it."
  648. >You slip the red silk tie over her head and tighten it.
  649. "If you feel lonely or scared, let that be a reminder that we'll be back in a few hours to take you home."
  650. >Her small fingers held the tie in a light grip as she threw her other arm around you.
  651. >"Thank you Daddy! I love you!"
  652. "Love you too sweetie."
  653. >On your way down the school steps, Cheerilee reminded you to be at the school for two in the afternoon for pick up, she also shot you a wink.
  654. >Confused you continued to towards a smiling Zecora.
  655. "Don't you look like the cat that caught the canary... What did Cheerilee have to say to you?'
  656. >You both set off towards home.
  657. >"She made a note of some import, our time alone will not be short. Perhaps you'd like to have some fun, we've plenty of time until school's done."
  658. >You stopped and thought about just what she was implying.
  659. >Zecora continued, getting about ten steps away before it clued in.
  660. >You chased the laughing Zebra back to your cottage, ignoring the eye-rolling from bystander ponies.
  661.
  662. >You are Ayana.
  663. >Daddy just left you with Ms.Cheerilee for your first day at school.
  664. >You were scared earlier, but before you left he gave you his tie.
  665. >It was a gift from Mommy and he hardly ever takes it off.
  666. >You knew all the other kids would be ponies, with you being the only thing that was different.
  667. >That didn't belong.
  668. >Mommy and Daddy were different too, and they love you.
  669. >You grip the tie with a shaky hand and enter the classroom.
  670. >Amidst the rows of desks, you see an amber unicorn filly.
  671. >Her brown eyes stare directly at you, her mouth slightly agape.
  672. >You bit your lip and shrunk under the appraising eye of the unicorn.
  673. >The burning feeling of the filly's eyes soon became too much for you.
  674. "Hi..."
  675. >Your voice was barely a squeak.
  676. >The filly shook her head, 'clearing out the cobwebs' as Daddy would say.
  677. >How did spiders get even get in-
  678. >Your train of thought was broken by a voice.
  679. >"Heya! My name's Syrup Sweet what's yours?"
  680. >She wasn't yelling at you, she was just excited.
  681. "...Ayana..."
  682. >"Ayana you said? Nice to meet you."
  683. >She seemed nice enough.
  684. >You moved to the desk beside the one she was sitting at.
  685. >"This your first day too?"
  686. >You nodded and sat down, facing Syrup and the door.
  687. >You noticed her staring at your hooves as you walked.
  688. "...Uh Syrup?"
  689. >"Sorry Ay!"
  690. >Ay? Was that a nickname? If so, it was kind of nice.
  691. "I've just never seen anypony like you before. Are you a pony? Why do you have a tie? Is your Daddy that 'Hue-man' that lives in town?"
  692. >Questions flew from Syrup's mouth faster than you could answer them.
  693. >You liked Syrup, she was nice to you.
  694. >A pair of grey fillies entered the classroom and immediately set you on edge.
  695. >One turned to the other and laughed.
  696. >"Oh look, the two-hooved freak of Ponyville made friends with a Blank Flank."
  697. >The other sneered at you.
  698. >"And they took OUR chairs."
  699. >Her words stung.
  700. >You weren't a freak, you were just different.
  701. >"Is the freak deaf or just stupid? Look at her Silver Spoon, she's just standing there in that rag of a dress with that ugly tie in her hand."
  702. >'Silver Spoon' just nodded in agreement, laughing at the insults the other filly threw at you.
  703. >Mommy gave you this dress, this was your favourite!
  704. >This was Daddy's special tie, he never let anypony even touch it!
  705. >You could feel the sting of tears in your eyes, and a quiver in your lower lip.
  706. >"Look! She looks like she's going to cry! What a pathet---"
  707. >Syrup had heard enough.
  708. >"That's enough Diamond Tiara. Leave her alone."
  709. >"And what's a blank flank like you going to do about it? Her whole family is freaks, for Celestia's sake, her mother is a zebra hermit from Everfree, and her dad is a hairless monk-"
  710. "STOP MAKING FUN OF MY MOMMY AND DADDY!!"
  711. >"Oh the freak found her tongue! What are you going to do about it... hmmmmm?"
  712. >The grey filly moved her face just inches from yours.
  713. >"That's what I th----"
  714. *Slap*
  715. >Daddy always said no hitting, but this 'Diamond Tiara' was just being so mean that it just sort of happened.
  716. >Mommy wasn't a hermit, Daddy wasn't a monkey. You weren't a freak.
  717. >You just wanted her to stop.
  718. >"Ayana!"
  719. >It was Cheerilee, and she looked mad.
  720. >"Why did you just hit Diamond Tiara?"
  721. >"Ms. Cheerilee, they were calling us names and-"
  722. >Syrup valiantly tried to defend you, but Cheerilee was having no of that.
  723. >"All four of you will stay after school and I will personally speak with all of your parents."
  724. >Any argument died in your throat.
  725. >They were going to be so mad with you, you looked to the others.
  726. >Syrup looked like she was ready to add a hoof mark to the rapidly reddening hand print on Tiara's face.
  727. >Silver Spoon looked worried, while Tiara smirked.
  728. >You knew you did something wrong, but so did she.
  729. >Cheerilee moved you and Syrup to the other side of the classroom as colts and fillies filled the class.
  730. >You are Anonymous.
  731. >You and Zecora were lounging on the couch of your home after your 'extra-curricular activities.'
  732. >Zecora lifted her head off your lap and looked up to you.
  733. >"While it is quite pleasant to be alone, but as the clock face has shown, we must hurry to the school, lest we be late, like a fool."
  734. >You stand up and readjust your clothing, your hand instinctively reaching to fix your tie.
  735. >Right.
  736. >You left that with Ayana this morning.
  737. >Zecora was right, showing up late would look pretty bad.
  738. >You and Zecora walked together, arriving just as the School bell rang.
  739. >Foals of all kinds poured from the door, running to there parent's waiting hooves.
  740. >Strangely, Ayana wasn't among them.
  741. >You waited for a few minutes before Cheerilee came out and waved to you, a disappoint look on her face.
  742. >Did something happened?
  743. >Was Ayana alright?
  744. >You and Zecora dodged the other families as you climbed the steps to greet Cheerilee.
  745. >"Ah Anonymous, I am glad you both came. There was an... altercation between Ayana and another couple students."
  746. >You felt a pit grow in your stomach, you had told her to give the other kids a chance and than something like this happens?
  747. >"Altercation, how do you mean? Was it something that you had seen? Is my daughter alright? Did this end in a fight?"
  748. >Zecora was frantic, it seemed she was still worried about some prejudice.
  749. >"She's fine... The other parents are inside with their foals, we need to get down to the bottom of what happened."
  750. >You placed your hand on Zecora's back in an attempt to calm her.
  751. "Darling, let's not jump to conclusions..."
  752. >Cheerilee lead you inside, and your eyes swept over those in the classroom/
  753. >Ayana looked away from you both in shame, an amber-coated filly had her hoof on Ayana's shoulder.
  754. >The other two fillies were all too familiar to you, Diamond Tiara and her crony Silver Spoon.
  755. >They had often picked on Sweetie Belle, Scoots and Applebloom.
  756. >They even tried to get you in trouble a couple of times, playing cruel pranks on any pony you did work for and trying to blame you for it.
  757. >You could also faintly see a red hand print across her face.
  758. >There was no way to deny that Ayana hit her, the question was why did she do it?
  759. "Ayana?"
  760. >The little filly that was holding her shoulder, looked up at you.
  761. >"Mr. Anonymous? My name is Syrup Sweets, your daughter--"
  762. >"Must pay for the affront to my family."
  763. >Filthy Rich, you didn't even notice him standing there.
  764. >"Your little cretin attacked my sweet little daughter."
  765. >Zecora growled, but you stepped between her and Filthy.
  766. "Look, I can't deny that Ayana hit Tiara, no one here besides me has hands like that. What I want to know is why."
  767. >Filthy Rich snarled, but said nothing.
  768. "Ayana. Why did you hit Tiara?"
  769. >Syrup opened her mouth, but Ayana spoke.
  770. >"She... she called me a freak and insulted my friend Syrup and said my clothes were rags, and that you and Mommy were freaks too... She was so mean. I didn't mean to do it, I know it was wrong, and I know I did it but--"
  771. >Filthy Rich jumped in again.
  772. >"How dare you accuse my angel of such infantile, and barbarous behaviour you.... you... abomination!"
  773. >The room want dead silent.
  774. >The fillies at least had no idea what that word meant... you hoped.
  775. >The mares in the room looked on in shock and dismay.
  776. >It took Filthy a moment to realize his error, and cover his mouth with his hoof.
  777. >You felt a hoof push you aside gently.
  778. >Zecora stalked towards Filthy Rich with all the predatory grace of a jungle cat.
  779. >To say she was angry would be the understatement of the century.
  780. >You know that there would be know stopping what was coming.
  781. "I'm not defending him, I'm trying to protect you from proving him right. Tiara should never have said what she did, but Ayana shouldn't have hit her."
  782. >'No matter how much she deserved it.' your mind added helpfully.
  783. >Zecora backed off, and a terrified Filthy Rich rose to his hooves.
  784. >You point at him.
  785. >"You are going to make Diamond Tiara apologize for saying what she did, and I'll make sure Ayana apologizes for hurting her."
  786. >Indignation was clear on his face as he opened his mouth to retort.
  787. "Do it or I am letting my wife finish what she started."
  788. >That scared him stiff as a board.
  789. >You sent Zecora to fetch Cheerilee, giving Filthy Rich a few moments to recompose himself.
  790. >Zecora and Cheerilee return with Ayana and Tiara return in tow just over a minute later
  791. "Ayana. What you did was wrong so I want you to apologize to Diamond Tiara."
  792. >Ayana's hand went to your tie as she turned to Tiara.
  793. >"I'm very sorry for hurting you, I really didn't mean to do that."
  794. >Without prompting, Tiara spoke.
  795. >"I sorry too, I shouldn't have said what I did to make you do that."
  796. >She held out and empty hoof.
  797. >"Tomorrow... do you maybe want to... I dunno...try and be friends? If you want to forgive me that is."
  798. >Ayana nodded happily, then turned to you and Zecora.
  799. >"Can we go home now?"
  800. >Completely flabbergasted by the turn of events, you could only nod.
  801. >You got partway home before Ayana spoke again.
  802. >"Am I in trouble for what I did?"
  803. >Zecora shook her head no.
  804. "As long as you promise not to do that again, I agree."
  805. >She exploded into rapid 'thank you's for the rest of the way home.
  806. >As exciting as this was, you really hoped tomorrow would be a little less so.
  807.
