He gave her that name not only because he loves Astronomy but also because he believes his daughter is the brightest star out there.
MINNIE MIN, she got the nickname from her uncles on her Dad's side of the family as well as her Dad's friends. Her father's name is Seung Min. They gave her that name because is a splitting image of her father and she acts a lot like him.

» BACKGROUND: Born in Houston, Texas to her teenaged parents, North's childhood wasn't the best. North's father, Seung Min was 16 while her mother Trinity was 17. Seung Min had been kicked out of his home for his actions where he was forced to get a job and stay with Trinity and her family. Trinity gave birth to North on Thursday November 4, 1999. North was born a healthy child, she was 7 pounds. It was the proudest moment in Seung Min's life. Two days after her birth, North was taken home and that's when it all began. Trinity had dropped out of school allowing her parents along with Seung Min to take care of her while she took care of North. Seung Min, being a full time student and a part time worker, he had a lot of his plate which lead to his stress. He tried to make as much time for North as he could but there just wasn't anyway he could spend as much time with her as he wanted. When North was two years old, Seung Min graduated at the top of his class, his school allowing him to walk the stage with North at his hip. He gave his speech, allowing North to say a couple of words. After proving that he could handle everything, he and his family became close again. His family bought him an apartment to share with North and Trinity. Trinity had other plans. A couple of months after the three moved into the new apartment, Trinity took advantage of a drunk friend of Seung Min's, where she had become pregnant afterwards, giving birth to another daughter, Anna or Kyung Sun. North and Anna grew up together as best friends and sisters. When North turned 5 years old, she had come across Trinity and Anna's birth father together. North had told Seung Min about it and he went off. He kicked her out, taking both North and Anna. The two went to court where Seung Min got full custody over North while Trinity got full custody over Anna. Seung Min's Dad, North's Grandfather, who is an attorney, helped his son fight for the right to keep Anna and not seperate the girls. After a year of fighting, Seung Min had gotten custody of Anna where he took her in as his own daughter, not wanting to seperate his daughter from her sister. When North started school, she was an automatic target of bullying. She didn't have many friends. While everyone loved Anna, they couldn't stand North. When she was 11 she got into her first fight with a group of boys who were pushing her around. She put all of them in a hospital, but the next day she was forcefully beaten by a group of middle school kids, leaving her in a ditch. It wasn't until 11 PM, hours after Seung Min called the police, that the police found her in the ditch. When she was found, she was unconious with her right ankle broken. Seung Min allowed her to change schools, this one a private school but it didn't last long as she pissed off a couple of the kids to where they beat her senseless again. A lot of her childhood was filled with trying to defend herself but losing to a group of bigger kids. North had always loved dancing, rapping and hip hop since she was a little girl. Her dad always listened to it as did her mom. Her father helped her cope with her pain by signing her up for music therapy sessions three times a week. They would help for the most part. When North was 13, she was going to audition for a couple of Korean companies. During summer North, Anna and Seung Min had traveled all the way to Los Angeles for Anna's audition. On the way there, Anna had somehow tricked North inot auditioning as well. Though Anna had failed the audition, North passed with flying colors. With her passing, she promised that she wouldn't leave her baby sister behind. The next month, the girls had moved to South Korea to live with Seung Min's older sister, Seung Ah. North had become an official YG Trainee and started to attend Korean schools as did Anna. When North started high school, she started high school in a regular one where she was bullied for her weight,skin color, her hair, just everything about her. She got into a couple of fights but got beat more than anything. North was diagnosed with depression and anxiety as well as PTSD at only the age of 15. North refused to see help for her issues and one day she wanted to take her own life but had failed. Once YG had found out, they transfered her to Hanlim Multi Art School and put her in counseloring, getting her, her own personal counselor who she can tell everything to. Her counselor, Myo Soon Ok had become like a family member to her. North began composing and producing music as a getaway from reality.
