  1. Hi Jenny,
  2. I thought I would give you some ideas for your upcoming paper. Why not address how films could be used in ways other than mere entertainment? Here are some of my thoughts:
  3. Films are a major part of modern life, as most people have seen films one way or another. Primarily, they are meant to entertain, but movies can also perform other functions, such as to spread a message. For example, a filmmaker who wants to represent a problem with society may choose to exaggerate the issue through a dystopian movie in order to get the audience thinking about how modern society relates to the issues shown in the story. One example of this is George Orwell's 1984, a classic book and movie which deals with a dystopian society and a corrupt government. Directors used filmmaking as a way to convey Orwell's message and get viewers to take a closer look at the flaws in the world around them. Similarly, during the space race, the United States popularized sci-fi movies because people were fascinated with the recent advancements in space travel. Though a film's message isn't always based on current events, by creating relevant content, producers are able to get their messages to a wider audience.
  4. I hope you can use some of these ideas!
