- I introduce to you: a murderer. When most people hear that, they immediately feel a sense of eeriness about them. But, there are more people that have killed one person than you think. You might know one, they're usually not that dangerous if you're meeting them. But the murderer I'm talking about has killed far more than one person. He is the serial killer of serial killers. Heck, he serially kills the serial killers.
- All of the law enforcement agencies know about him because he kills them too. When he kills them, what do they do? Nothing. They are dead. No thoughts, no movement, and no interaction. It's what happens to all of us when we die. We’re dead. Nothing more, nothing less. What if he kills you? He will. In reality, he will be here to get you in just a few hours.
- Now, either you're dismissing this as an interesting rant (albeit a calm one), or you're getting a bit disturbed. Don't get disturbed. You'll all be fine in the morning. But that's how he works. In the night, kill. Nobody notices it, as family members just rooms away die. Woah. Creepy.
- Then, the next morning, you greet them during breakfast. Wait, what? Didn't I just say they died? Yes, because they did. And now you're enjoying your eggs together. Confused? You won't be when I tell you the name of the murderer. His name is sleep. And tonight, he will come into your room and the rooms of everyone you know and love and kill. Until tomorrow morning, that is.
- Sleep, you are not productive to society. You kill. Nightly, you do what I fear most: you reduce my efficiency to zero. When I'm sleeping, as far as my body is concerned, I'm dead. Nothing can happen. I don't think. I don't dance. I just don't do. I mean, sure. I dream, and yeah, it's interesting sometimes, but that can barely be called a productive.
- You take oh-so-valuable time out of my 24 hour day to… shorten my day? And you think that's okay? It's most certainly not. I am, in my own opinion, most productive between the hours of 10 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. And I do my best work with technology. Why can you come into my house and set up your rules like it's nobody's business?
- If it were possible, I would eliminate you from my schedule entirely, thus giving me about 6 more hours of operational time. Even if I spend this time watching YouTube, there is efficiency in that. It is chillaxation time, which is all but necessary as a high school student. And you are taking that away from me. I blame you. And not only do you cause problems in the present tense (such as inefficiency), but you create future problems, too. Remember alarm clocks? They are your children. With you gone, these horrid things would become unnecessary. Obsolete, even. Oh, what a day that will be.
