- [2:07 AM] Shinynecrid: Amp can’t run as root user.
- [2:07 AM] Shinynecrid: You’ll have to create instances from AMP User
- [2:08 AM] Shinynecrid: I suggest making an ADS Instance with or if already made do ampinstmgr start ADS01 (if you used script)
- [2:11 AM] Scratch: wel.. not sure how i did it.. but i got amp installed.. i'm logged into the amp aplication management panel, but clicking on standalone does nothing.
- [2:13 AM] Scratch: this is why i get so frustrated with linux.
- [2:17 AM] Shinynecrid: what about non standalone?
- [2:18 AM] Scratch: my fault.. i expected somethign to happen when i clicked on standalone, didn;t see the next button cuz it was off the bottom of the screen..
- [2:18 AM] Shinynecrid: Clear browser cache too
- [2:19 AM] Shinynecrid: Upgrading from such an old instance may create errors down the road
- [2:19 AM] Scratch: i got rid of the old install.
- [2:19 AM] Shinynecrid: Well yes. But your browser will try to recall old information
- [2:20 AM] Shinynecrid: Ctrl+F5
- [2:24 AM] Scratch: what is ADS?
- [2:25 AM] Scratch: i'm creating an instance for minecraft and it has an option of "create as standalone (not managed by ADS)"
- [2:27 AM] Shinynecrid: ADS is the management panel used to manage multiple instances with one unified login for all instances
- [2:27 AM] Shinynecrid: Standalone is having separate logins apart from ADS ones
- [2:27 AM] Scratch: i'll only have the one instance of minecraft.
- [2:28 AM] Shinynecrid: For Example. If you want admin 1 managing Minecraft 1 and not 2. You would create a standalone
- [2:28 AM] Scratch: ah.. k.
- [2:47 AM] Scratch: where did the ADS01 instance come from? do i need it if i want to make a standalone minecraft instance?
- [2:48 AM] Scratch: cuz i think it's it's using the same IP that i want to use for minecraft.
- [2:50 AM] Shinynecrid: ADS is created by the script
- [2:50 AM] Scratch: can i delete it?
- [2:51 AM] Shinynecrid: ampinstmgr DeleteInstance ADS01
- [2:52 AM] Scratch: it's safe to delete and i can make a standalone minecraft instance.
- [2:52 AM] Scratch: ?
- [2:53 AM] Shinynecrid: Yep. It’s your choice
- [2:55 AM] Scratch: k.. i'd rather not complicate things for the other admins..
- [2:55 AM] Scratch: they're used to having the one instance to deal with.
- [2:55 AM] Shinynecrid: Fair enough
- [2:57 AM] Scratch: but as i'm confirming changes, i'm losing contact with the AMP backend.. have to reboot the unbuntu box to get the panel back.
- [2:58 AM] Shinynecrid: Well yes because you deleted the ads
- [2:59 AM] Shinynecrid: You will need to create a Minecraft instance on port 8080 to get a panel again
- [3:00 AM] Scratch: it's happening when i'm stopping the ADS instance..
- [3:01 AM] Scratch: i ahven;t got to the point of deleting it yet
- [3:01 AM] CCL/Mike: Yes, because the other instances use it for login services
- [3:01 AM] Shinynecrid: He wants simply 1 Minecraft instance mike
- [3:01 AM] Scratch: yes
- [3:01 AM] Shinynecrid: Not through ADS at all
- [3:01 AM] CCL/Mike: Wow okay
- [3:02 AM] CCL/Mike: Well so long as the instance is created in standalone mode and you browse to its specific port you'll be fine.
- [3:03 AM] Scratch: i didn;t create it in standalone mode.. when i tried to do that it said the ip and port was already in use.
- [3:03 AM] Shinynecrid: He wants the MC on 8080 I assume like his old setup. Hence why I said to delete ads
- [3:03 AM] Scratch: yes
- [3:03 AM] Shinynecrid: And create a Minecraft instance from ampinstmg
- [3:04 AM] Scratch: i'd rather not go back to the putty command line.. that part was frustrating me
- [3:04 AM] Shinynecrid: Well, that’s probably the only way to create just a mc on 8080
- [3:04 AM] Scratch: k.. i'll do that then..
- [3:05 AM] CCL/Mike: Short of putting ADS on a different port
- [3:05 AM] Scratch: and pull out a few more hairs.
- 3:12 AM] Scratch: k.. instance is deleted.. \o/
- [3:12 AM] Scratch: exit
- [3:12 AM] Scratch: oops
- [3:18 AM] Shinynecrid:
- [3:20 AM] Scratch: now AMP doesn;t start
- [3:20 AM] Shinynecrid: You create a Minecraft instance?
- [3:21 AM] Scratch: not yet.. just deleted the ads instance.
- [3:21 AM] Scratch: using putty.
- [3:21 AM] Shinynecrid: Ok
- [3:21 AM] Scratch: now i have a blank amp login page.. no where to log in.
- [3:22 AM] Shinynecrid: Yeah because we need to Create a MC Instance
- [3:24 AM] Shinynecrid: iirc the command is. ampinstmgr create Minecraft 0.0.0.0 8080 LicenceKey Username Password.
- [3:24 AM] Scratch: ahj.. k
- [3:24 AM] Shinynecrid: It’s been a long time since I’ve used Cli to create an instance
- [3:24 AM] Shinynecrid: If that does not work I’ll have to pop on my PC
- [3:24 AM] Scratch: i've already put in my licence key .. but do it again?
- [3:25 AM] Shinynecrid: Well no. Everything you did before we deleted
- [3:25 AM] Shinynecrid: With deleting ads
- [3:25 AM] Scratch: ah, k
- [3:25 AM] Shinynecrid: Think of it right now nothing is created
- [3:26 AM] Shinynecrid: So our next logical step is to create the MC instance on your desired port like your old setup
- [3:26 AM] Shinynecrid: Which I believe is the following command
- [3:27 AM] Scratch: k.
- [3:27 AM] Shinynecrid: “ampinstmgr createinstance Minecraft 0.0.0.0 8080 licensekey username password”
- [3:30 AM] Scratch: can i make my own login at this point?
- [3:31 AM] Shinynecrid: It’s part of that string yes
- [3:31 AM] Shinynecrid: Where I put username and password d
- [3:31 AM] Scratch: k..
- [3:31 AM] Shinynecrid: You would put your username and password
- 4:29 AM] CCL/Mike: what build date is showing in AMP?
- [4:31 AM] CCL/Mike: @Shinynecrid btw my preference for users now would be to just tell them to do ampinstmgr create minecraft and leave it at that
- [4:31 AM] CCL/Mike: since it'll just ask them for the missing settings
- [3:16 PM] Scratch: last night after i left CCL/mike posted that i should use ampinstmgr create minecraft to create a standalone minecraft instance, everything seemed to go ok in putty and it looks liek it created the instance but now when i try to log onto AMP i get a "unable to connect" page in the browser.
- [3:17 PM] Scratch: i've cleared the cache in my browser.
- [3:17 PM] CCL/Mike: ampinstmgr table - is the instance running?
- [3:18 PM] Scratch: looks like it..
- [3:18 PM] CCL/Mike: firewall?
- [3:18 PM] Scratch: https://pastebin.com/XWTaWENS
- Pastebin
- [Info] AMP Instance Manager v1.7.1.0 built 04/01/2019 13:20 [Info...
- [3:18 PM] CCL/Mike: its not running
- [3:18 PM] CCL/Mike: there should be a mark in the "Up" column
- [3:18 PM] CCL/Mike: ampinstmgr start imagine
- [3:18 PM] Scratch: ah.
- [3:19 PM] Scratch: i used the command on the installation page to create the start up script.. guess that failed.
- [3:19 PM] CCL/Mike: ah if you want it to start on boot you use ampinstmgr setstartboot
- [3:20 PM] Scratch: k.
- [3:24 PM] Scratch: omg.. i've been putting in so many names and passwords i don;t remeber which one i used for me.
- [3:25 PM] Scratch: ampinstmgr quickstart USERNAME PASSWORD , can i use that to create a new log in for myself?
- [3:26 PM] BOTCubeCodersHelper: You can reset your login details via the Instance Manager (on Linux) by running ./ampinstmgr -e YOURINSTANCENAME YOURUSERNAME YOURPASSWORD Make sure the instance is stopped before doing this.
- [3:38 PM] Scratch: got it.. thanks ccl/mike
- [3:44 PM] Shinynecrid: Got it all working?
- [4:02 PM] Scratch: yep.. thanks for everybodys help.
- [4:02 PM] Scratch: plaease don;t make me go through this again..
