  3. CD (CD part is obviously him being an earth pony)
  4. >Actarius
  5. "JJ"
  6. 'Changelings'
  7. ~~~~~
  8.
  9. >So... that went about as well as my job search.
  10.
  11. "I thought it was a nice idea, at least.... the letter thing, not the job thing."
  12.
  13. >...
  14.
  15. "Not that you looking for a job is a bad idea, but-"
  16.
  17. >Speaking of, is she going to make me start paying rent? I feel like I should be paying rent to live here.
  18.
  19. "...We don't."
  20.
  21. >Yeah, but I'm not... you know.
  22.
  23. "S'okay, you wouldn't want to be one anyway. It sucks to be a changeling."
  24.
  25. >Bulllll!
  26.
  27. "..."
  28.
  29. >No, sorry, not to belittle what you guys go through, but BULLLLLLL! You know what I would give to be a changeling!?
  30.
  31. "...S-... seriously?"
  32.
  33. >How can I not be serious!? No, don't give me that look, it's the same thing when they say "Ah, all ponies are equally important!" Baloney! You know what I would give for a horn? My left hoof. I am not even joking, you can have my left hoof. I will not even need it because MAGIC! Or you know what? You can have both hooves if I can get some wings! FRONT hooves even! Because then I could fly! Flying is freaking amazing! Ugh... you know how depressing it is when your mom is a pegasus, your dad is a unicorn, and you get stuck with nothing?
  34.
  35. "...isn't... isn't that genetically impossible?"
  36.
  37. >You'd think, but mom had me DNA tested five times.
  38.
  39. "...Your MOM did."
  40.
  41. >She uh... she was worried it was a conspiracy on the part of Equestria's enemies to weaken the guard through implications of infidelity, dad never thought I wasn't his, and I don't think he would have cared if I wasn't.
  42.
  43. "..."
  44.
  45. >Mom's paranoid... but that's beside the point! You! You guys! You can fly! And shoot lasers! And transform! And lift stuff with telekensis! and some of you are freaking indestructible! And spit fire! And... and you can even do that cool tapdancing thing!
  46.
  47. "That's just my hive, actually. Most breath fire or something cool..."
  48.
  49. >You guys are masters of stealth, who can fly, shoot lasers, use magic, and even have armor for skin! You know what I would give for any of that? Just one thing? Just... I'd take the freaking tapdancing at this point. Just something.
  50.
  51. "..."
  52.
  53. >...
  54.
  55. "...Uh, wow. No idea what to say here. You make us sound a lot cooler than we are."
  56.
  57. >You guys ARE cool, don't let anyone tell you different.
  58.
  59. "Yeah, but it comes at the price of literally eating all the love anyone ever gives you. You know how scary that is? You could wake up one day and the one you fell in love with doesn't care about you anymore, and it's all because you had a midnight snack to many. It's scary. And if nobody loves you, you starve to death no matter how much you eat. Imagining withering away knowing it's because nobody loved you. Yeah, not so great."
  60.
  61. >...Uh, wow, yeah, I guess that is pretty bad.
  62.
  63. "You don't know the half of it."
  64.
  65. >...
  66.
  67. "...is this the part where we say each species has it's pros and cons, and agree we're happy the way we are?"
  68.
  69. >...nope, you guys are still cooler.
  70.
  71. "I know."
  72.
  73. >Thanks for trying to cheer me up anyway.
  74.
  75. "Meh, I'll stick to what works."
  76.
  77. >You mean...?
  78.
  79. "DADADADADADADA!"
  80.
  81. >TEE HEE!
  82.
  83. "Dada-FUCKING HOLES!"
  84.
  85. >EEE!... I love that so much.
  86.
  87. "I know."
  88.
  89. 'GET A ROOM ALREADY!'
  90.
  91. >I'm trying! Nobody will hire me!
  92.
  93. 'NOT THAT! I MEANT... ugh.'
  94.
  95. 'Just give up buddy.'
  96.
  97. 'I know.'
  98.
  99. >...The heck is that all about?
  100.
  101. "No idea."
  102.
  103. >Me either.
  104.
  105. "...DADADADADA!"
  106.
  107. >HEEHEEHEE!
  108.
  109. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  110.
  111. And yet again, Actarius's mom continues to be pretty damn interesting.
  112. Now I'm just imagining her as this super-loyal version of The Question.
  113. ~
  114.
  115. >Mother is Pegasus, Father is Unicorn, son is... earth pony!? Conspiracy! I'm onto you, gryphons! Clearly this is a plot wherein I was magically inseminated to give the illusion I was unfaithful so that I would be up most nights fighting, reducing my abilities as a guard! But I'm onto you! I just need to find out who the magical father donor is, track him down, and beat the plot right out of him! I'M ONTO YOU!... Ah ha! The father is... MY OWN HUSBAND!? HOW COULD YOU!
  116.
  117. "..."
  118.
  119. >...Wait...
  120.
  121. "..."
  122.
  123. >...Better triple check.
  124.
  125. "Seriously?"
  126.
  127. >I'M ONTO THEM!
  128.
  129. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  130.
  131. >AH HA! 32 FLAVORS!
  132.
  133. "Dear stop, we're just getting ice cream."
  134.
  135. >I'M ONTO THEM!
  136.
  137. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  138.
  139. >>>Chrysalis
  140. "42"
  141. ~~~
  142.
  143. It was very rare that the soldier changeling known only as Applejack number Forty Two really took stock of her life. Often times when she tried, she merely managed to get a headache of some sort before stopping herself from thinking about it.
  144.
  145. However, even she could not escape this feeling as she sat in a rather comfy chair in front of a rather nice diner, with none other than her Majesty herself sitting across the table, while happily munching on some high-class cake no doubt worth more than a train ticket to and from the Crystal Empire. She herself had her own serving, of course, but felt strangely unable to bring herself to eat it.
  146.
  147. There was something so surreal about all of this, of sitting with her at a table in the open in the middle of Canterlot, while her Queen, the highest order a changeling could ever achieve, was talking to her as casually as she would a good friend, and with not so much as a hint of authority in it.
  148.
  149. Just... two changelings, having a meet.
  150.
  151. >So then I just told him he was a dumbass, and lit the rocket anyway. And of course, I was right, we survived and he only got ONE second degree burn. See? Nobody listens to me, yet I'm always right.
  152.
  153. "Of course."
  154.
  155. >So after that Celly was more interested in... something wrong?
  156.
  157. Her head snapped over, finally fully paying attention after being distracted for so long.
  158.
  159. "Ah, no, your Majesty. I was just... distracted."
  160.
  161. >Thinking about Shiny's chest?
  162.
  163. "N-NO!... Wait, no, I actually wasn't, I don't know why I..."
  164.
  165. >You are now, aren't you?
  166.
  167. "NO! NO I'M NOT!... Ugh."
  168.
  169. >HAH! So, seriously, what's the problem?
  170.
  171. "...I've just been thinking about Twilight recently."
  172.
  173. >I know, hell of an ass right?
  174.
  175. "...It's okay, I guess? I don't have a frame of refernece for how good it is. I guess you would know better? Is it good?"
  176.
  177. >Note to self, that one doesn't work... logging away for future reference. Weird.
  178.
  179. "Majesty?"
  180.
  181. >So, if it's not in the 'never tried it but you only live once' way, what pray tell, have you been thinking about regarding dear old Twilight?
  182.
  183. "...It's weird that they still think of each other as brother and sister."
  184.
  185. There was a pause. A confused, nearly incomprehensible, pause.
  186.
  187. >...Come again?
  188.
  189. "Her and Shining Armor, I mean. They still call each other brother and sister."
  190.
  191. No matter how much she rolled it around in her mind, she just couldn't wrap her head about that.
  192.
  193. >Why... why wouldn't they?
  194.
  195. Now it was Forty Two's turn to look to her with confusion, as if the answer was the most obvious in the world.
  196.
  197. "She... she's an alicorn now, she ascended."
  198.
  199. The answer was stated so obvious, so plain, and while yet another initial bout of confusion overtook Chrysalis, slowly she began work her mind around the implications.
  200.
  201. >...Huh. That is weird.
  202.
  203. "Right?"
  204.
  205. >Maybe it's because she just assumes he's going to ascend someday as well?
  206.
  207. "But she does not call Celestia or Luna sister. That aside, how? Where would he get one for the ritual?"
  208.
  209. >I don't know, but she seems pretty sure he is. Maybe she is in denial about it and just doesn't want to think he's going to, you know...
  210.
  211. "...Yes, I suppose so."
  212.
  213. They took to awkwardly looking away from one another, Forty Two towards the glass beside them, with Chrysalis focused on the plate of cake in front of her.
  214.
  215. "...M-majesty, I know this is out of line for me to ask, but-"
  216.
  217. >HAH!
  218.
  219. "..."
  220.
  221. >Sorry, just find that funny that you think it'd bother me. Shoot.
  222.
  223. After a deep breath, she finally did.
  224.
  225. "I know this is going to sound perhaps a touch... presumptuous. But were we... were we sisters?"
  226.
  227. Another wash of bewilderment, a feeling she was becoming fantastically acquainted with, before finally her mind caught up with the rest of the world.
  228.
  229. >Oh! Oh, you mean before... all of this.
  230.
  231. Pointedly, she gestured to herself, waving a hoof up and down her body.
  232.
  233. "Yes. I don't... I do not remember that time all that well."
  234.
  235. >Huh. Really?
  236.
  237. "Yes, in fact I can barely even recall what you looked like before your present majestic form."
  238.
  239. >How odd... but then again, mother tended to be a little liberal with the mindwipes. It's entirely possible you saw something you shouldn't have.
  240.
  241. "Oh... sorry, Majesty."
  242.
  243. >Clearly, I'm not holding a grudge.
  244.
  245. "I know, but... were we sisters?"
  246.
  247. Thoughtfully, Chrysalis tapped a hoof to her chin, her tongue poking out and eyes rolling around in her head.
  248.
  249. >You mean brother and sister?
  250.
  251. Forty Two suddenly went rigid, spine tingling with a long-thought-buried fear racing down it once again as she remembered her long hidden secret.
  252.
  253. "A-ah, y-yes... brother and sister."
  254.
  255. >Hmmm... dunno which one you were, but I'm going to say nope. Never bonded with any of you guys, pretty much knew since day one how great I was going to be and got a headstart. You guys were always minions, since the day I was born.
  256.
  257. "Oh... oh..."
  258.
  259. There was a strange sense of sadness to her slumping of her shoulders, an odd sadness about her.
  260.
  261. >...Hrm, you know, one thing I never figured out. Why did Mom let you live?
  262.
  263. Again, she felt as if her chitin had turned to stone, complete with the cold dead feeling trailing all over her.
  264.
  265. >It's weird, there's only supposed to be one heir, but for some reason...
  266.
  267. After a tense, thoughtful moment, Chrysalis shrugged.
  268.
  269. >Ah, who cares, right? Past is in the past, and so on. Whatever reason she had, eh, she's dead, so if she had a plan with that, HAH! Too bad!
  270.
  271. Just like that, it was gone. All gone. All the fear, all the worry, gone.
  272.
  273. "...Yes, Majesty, the past is in the past. Though I am sad to learn we were never close."
  274.
  275. Of all the reactions 42 expected, she did not expect a derisive scoff.
  276.
  277. >Meh, maybe not before I became the beauty I am right now, but no time like the present. Cheers!
  278.
  279. There was no lack of levity in her as she hefted her own cup filled with water, clinking it against Chrysalis's one that was just overflowing with some kind of alcohol.
  280.
  281. "Cheers..."
  282.
  283. >Sorry you'll never become a Queen, Forty Two, but you know how it is.
  284.
  285. "...That's alright. I think... I think where I ended up is just fine."
  286.
  287. She smiled, and at last brought some cake to her lips.
  288.
  289. "...This is just fine..."
  290.
  291. And for that moment, she felt peace.
  292.
  293. ...But only that moment.
  294.
  295. >...Why is everyone running anyway?
  296.
  297. "NO idea. Do you want to go see?"
  298.
  299. >...Nah.
  300.
  301. "Yeah, it's probably better to avoid whatever that is."
  302.
  303. >Good call. Cheers to avoiding chaos!
  304.
  305. "Cheers..."
  306.
  307. >HAH! Now, as I was saying, Celly was more interested in sitting in his lap, but I swear it was just to tick me off...
  308.

  312. >"I feel pretty! Oh so pretty! Oh so petty and witty and gaaayyyyyy! And I pity, any..."
  313.
  314. "...Uh, majesty, I have the-"
  315.
  316. >"MINDZOOOOOOOOTTZZZZZ!"
  317.
  318. "ASHMBLOMAMOMAB!"
  319.
  320. >"...Might've overdone it."
  321.

  324. >Batmom
  325. "Twilight"
  326. 'Dadling'
  327. ~~~~
  328.
  329. >HHNGGGHHHHH!
  330.
  331. "Okay! Contractions! Contractions are good!...I think."
  332.
  333. >YOU THINK!?
  334.
  335. "Well, they're a little irregular-"
  336.
  337. >WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?
  338.
  339. "Not characterized by any fixed principle, method, continuity, or rate. Or not according to rule, or to the accepted principle, method, course, order, etc. Whichever definition you like."
  340.
  341. >ARE YOU BEING SARCASTIC RIGHT NOW!?
  342.
  343. "Ah, no. That was me being technical. I'm like that sometimes."
  344.
  345. >THIS IS TERRIBLE!
  346.
  347. "Well, to be fair, changeling or no it's not supposed to be a picnic."
  348.
  349. >AHHHHHHH!
  350.
  351. "...how you hanging in there, buddy?"
  352.
  353. 'GLKHLKGGRLLKK!'
  354.
  355. "No, I do not want to trade places."
  356.
  357. 'HLKHLKLAKKLL!'
  358.
  359. "I thought that would be obvious."
  360.
  361. >YOU DID THIS TO ME! YOU DID THIS TO MEEEEEEEEEE!
  362.
  363. "See? She agrees."
  364.
  365. 'GGGLLLKKKKK!'
  366.
  367. "...I feel like this is going well."
  368.
  369. >AHHHHHHH!
  370.
  371. 'GLLLLRRRGGGLL!'
  372.
  373. "Just super."
  374.

  378. >"Oh yes, you're a dirty mare aren't you? Yes you are, you like it when I-"
  379.
  380. "Majesty! I have reports from the north about... what are you doing with that alicorn sized pillow?"
  381.

  383.
  384. "Is that a picture of Celest-"
  385.

  398.
  399. >"MINDZOTZ!"
  400.
  401. "HRPMAMALMGHAN!"
  402.
  403. *THUMP!*
  404.
  405. >"..."
  406.
  407. >{You didn't have to do that.}
  408.
  409. >"I'm not paying you to talk, Saturnia!"
  410.
  411. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  412.
  413. >MM
  414. "Zecora"
  415. '???'
  416. ~~~~
  417.
  418. >Freakin'... Celeshtia danged... UGHHHHH!
  419.
  420. "Do you need a helping hoof? I do not want you to blow off the roof."
  421.
  422. The mayor just shook her head, eyes narrowing in determination as she clenched the key in her teeth even harder.
  423.
  424. >NO! I will beat thish door! It'sh not that hard!
  425.
  426. "You have been jabbing your nose for many minutes passed. Any harder and through that door you are going to blast."
  427.
  428. >I... will... SHUCKSHEED!.... AH HAH!
  429.
  430. It was with a bit of triumph, and a slightly sore nose, that the door to the apartment clicked unlocked at last.
  431.
  432. >Ha ha ha ha HA! That's how you unlock a door!
  433.
  434. "..."
  435.
  436. >Hush, it's easier for him. He has magic.
  437.
  438. "...I wish I could lift stuff with my mind. When I was born, the fates were most unkind..."
  439.
  440. >Yeah, me too... but enough about that! Niney needs to water his Japaneighs Bonzai with point three cups of water once a week and gently remove any branches weighing more than one gram! If he doesn't, this whole thing could collapse!
  441.
  442. "..."
  443.
  444. >I don't know, I honestly think he just does it to look cultured, but-SWEET MERCIFUL CELESTIA!
  445.
  446. To say 'it looked like a tornado had gone off in his apartment' would be an insult to the very concept of destruction to compare that which had happened inside of this room to mere gale-force winds. It would only be appropriate if added with the addendum "A tornado that occasionally was on fire and was also made of hate for all things orderly." Anything less was a disservice to this level of mastery.
  447.
  448. >W-wha!? What.... TRIXIE!
  449.
  450. The blue mare groaned, rising from the piles of refuse like the living dead.
  451.
  452. >OH MY GOSH!
  453.
  454. Dramatically, she took the other mare in her hooves, shaking her ever so slightly to rouse her back to life.
  455.
  456. >TRIXIE! What happened!? Was it an invasion!? Terrorists!? Goblins!? Please don't tell me it was goblins I hate those thing! They make everything worse! And Trolls just look tacky! SPEAK TO ME!
  457.
  458. Shakily, the blue hoof rose up, and gently touched the other mare on the cheek.
  459.
  460. 'T-Trixie...'
  461.
  462. >Yes?
  463.
  464. 'Trixie...'
  465.
  466. >Yes!?
  467.
  468. 'Trixie...'
  469.
  470. >YES!?
  471.
  472. '...Parties her blue ass off! WOOOOOOOO!'
  473.
  474. >...
  475.
  476. None-too-gently, she dropped the mare to the ground, and walked off.
  477.
  478. 'YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS YOU DIDN'T ROCK OUT WITH TRIXIE!'
  479.
  480. She rolled her eyes, but did not seem mad.
  481.
  482. >Wow, you really went nuts. Seriously? There's cheese everywhere.
  483.
  484. "We did not think you would have such a ball. You should have reached out and given us a call."
  485.
  486. 'Trixie did! None of you answered!'
  487.
  488. >Oh?
  489.
  490. 'Yes! And after the GREAT and POWERFUL sacrifice Trixie did, she expected better.'
  491.
  492. >Well, we have been trying to fix the town, did you leave a note?
  493.
  494. 'YES!... I mean, I was going to! But I didn't!... BECAUSE OF REASONS!'
  495.
  496. This time, it was Zecora who rolled her eyes.

  498. "You are quite the card, oh magical blue mare. I can see why living with you is something no one else will dare."
  499.
  500. 'Trixie goes where she wants!'
  501.
  502. "Yes, is it obvious that you do,-"
  503.
  504. With a FWOOOSH! Something caught on fire.
  505.
  506. "-but someone wanting you is something untrue."
  507.
  508. >Oh crap! You didn't wreck his Bonzai did you!? PLEASE tell me you didn't wreck his bonzai!
  509.
  510. 'NO!... Trixie's not that big a jerk...'
  511.
  512. >Oh, good.
  513.
  514. 'But I might have eaten his Ponet poster.'
  515.
  516. >...I'm sorry, did you say-
  517.
  518. There was a sudden, loud creaking.
  519.
  520. "...Tell me, in all your excitement in this humble abode. I trust you were careful not to hit anything that holds a load?"
  521.
  522. '...A-hem...'
  523.
  524. The creaking suddenly reached deafening levels.
  525.
  526. 'ABANDON APARTMENT!'
  527.
  528. ~~~~~
  529.
  530. As they looked at the collapsed wreckage before them, nothing but a few scant items in their hooves and the dumbstruck look on their faces, only one of them could find the strength to speak.
  531.
  532. 'THIS IS YOUR FAULT!'
  533.
  534. As one, they smacked her.
  535.
  536. >...Let's hope we can fix this before he gets home.
  537.
  538. A tiny explosion went off in the middle.
  539.
  540. >...Shouldn't be too hard.

  562. "He's worried it's gonna pop out of her chest like a bad horror movie."
  563.
  564. >...When he gets back, I'm going to hit him twice.
  565.
  566. "Twice?"
  567.
  568. >One for running, the other for calling that movie bad.
  569.
  570. "...Uh-"
  571.
  572. >IT'S A CLASSIC LUNA-DAMN IT!

  585.
  586. In the midst of baby-birthing chaos, her horn vibrated and the apple princess nearly jumped out of her skin, frazzled.
  587.
  588. >H-hello? Who’s this? Whoever it is, y’all’re gonna hafta call ba-
  589.
  590. The voice on the other end was hard to discern, especially through all the other frantic shouts and sounds of hoof meeting flesh, but when they spoke, Applejack felt her stomach drop and her eyes widen.
  591.
  592. “It’s been so long since we’ve last talked that I just wanted to give you a little update, my fair princess. Ahem… these screws are loose and they’re in the midst of finding new employment.”
  593.
  594. It was as if her current surroundings seemed to bleed away leaving only Applejack and her buzzing horn.
  595.
  596. >…Screws? Screwloose, that you? Hold on a minute, whatta ya mean you-
  597.
  598. “But I know you’re a dreadfully busy mare so I’ll keep this short as I’ve my own problems to deal with on my end. I’m ecstatic to report that in conjunction with new business ventures, I’ll be getting a healthy dose of fresh air in due time... and I’ve even found a helper! A cute little creature who’s Queen I’m sure you’re well acquainted with.”
  599.
  600. It only took a second for the hinted Changeling to flash over Applejack’s mind.
  601.
  602. >Whoa, whoa… ya can’t possibly mean Twelve?
  603.
  604. “Twelve? Hmmm, nope! That name doesn't ring a single bell, my princess. He goes by the title of ‘pervert’.”
  605.
  606. The voice giggled, highly amused.
  607.
  608. >Screws, this ain’t no laughin’ matter! Ya'll can't just run off all willy-nilly like-
  609.
  610. “Well, ta-ta for now, Princess Applejack, my cohorts seem to be calling for help! Honestly, what would they do without me, right? Don’t worry, though, I’ll be in touch... real soon.”
  611.
  612. And as the line went dead, Applejack felt an amalgam of questions and concerns ram itself into her head... but she just as quickly banished them.
  613.
  614. Seeing Glimmer through this pregnancy came first.
  615.
  616. She'd worry about loose screws and their intentions later.

  694. Pulls a wagon with Fluttershy scared stiff on it.
  695.
  696. "Oh...there's nopony here this time"
  697.
  698. >Yeah. The question tonight is do you think you can get me a live audience again? I'll take care of them this time I promise.
  699.
  700. "Gosh, I don't know if I can."
  701.
  702. >Can you try any way? Please?
  703.
  704. "Okay, I'll give it a try."
  705. Fluttershy gives a blast of magic from her horn. An audience of cardboard appears.
  706.
  707. >...I don't know how I feel about this.
  708.
  709. "Oh um, let me try again."
  710. Another wave of magic and the cardboard audience can be heard cheering yay.
  711.
  712. >...This might be a little worse.
  713.
  714. "Oh my, it's not exactly a live audience."
  715. The audience goes aw.
  716.

  718. The audience goes yay.
  719.
  720. "Really?"
  721.
  722. >Yeah it's fine. I'll just stick to the talking cardboard audience...they're not sentient are they?
  723.
  724. "Gee um, I don't really know. Hold on. Let me try one more time."
  725. More magic ensues. This time when they both blink the audience can be seen standing up smiling. Another blink and they sit back down.
  726.
  727. >...I think we're done for the night. You can go now.
  728.
  729. "Was I of any help?"

  769. 'GLK!'
  770.
  771. >...Uh.... u-uh...
  772.
  773. She was at a loss.
  774.
  775. She had no idea what to do, what to say, how to go about this or what could possibly make this, very justifiably, frazzled mare calm down. She knew she needed to, she just had no idea how...
  776.
  777. Then, with an explosion of force and the rush of air from the door flinging open, they arrived. Like a beacon of light on a dark, cold night, her coat shined as brightly as the sun as she stood in the doorway, her regal frame tall and strong, but that strength did nothing to betray the warm, motherly look on her face that instantly gave a feeling one only gets from a kindness of a parent.
  778.
  779. A single gold encircled hoof reached out, gentle in it's movements, and gestured towards Twilight.
  780.
  781. ~Twilight! You must believe in yourself, and anything is possible!~
  782.
  783. There was a happy, warmth filled passage of time, as Twilight once more felt the strength to-
  784.
  785. ~Believe!~
  786.
  787. And just like that, she turned back around and shut the door.
  788.
  789. >....
  790. '....'
  791. "................................WHAT THE FU-"
  792.
  793. With another flourish, the door flung back open, and a positively uproariously laughing mare walked in at last, hurting herself from the strain her mirth put on her chest.
  794.
  795. ~AHAHAH! I'm sorry... ahaaha... I'm sorry, I just couldn't pass it up. That was a once in a lifetime chance, I'm sorry... ahaha... I'm so sorry... HOO! Well! How far along are her contractions? Doing good?~
  796.
  797. >They... uh... they're a bit irregular-
  798.
  799. ~Ah well, that's perfectly normal for first times. Right? First time having a child?~
  800.
  801. "Y... yes..."
  802.
  803. ~Congratulations! It's quite a wondrous thing, really. Never experienced it myself, but I've been present for so many of these I've simply lost count! It's always amazing to see, every time, but this time I think will be quite special! If nothing else because I get to say I know what it looks like when you strangle a changeling now!~
  804.
  805. While her earlier act had put her quite off kilter, Glimmer couldn't deny she felt quite at ease with the princess herself in the room, being light and making jokes.
  806.
  807. ~Well, carry on!~
  808.
  809. >...
  810. '...'
  811. "...WHAT!?"
  812.
  813. >A-aren't you going to-
  814.
  815. ~Yes, Twilight, I will be here to assist you in case of complications. But that is the key word, ASSIST.~
  816.
  817. >You, uh... you aren't-
  818.
  819. ~No, my once faithful student, I am not going to take this off your hooves. For you see, I have yet another lesson to teach you. Perhaps one of the most important of all. The lesson... of life.~
  820.
  821. >...What.
  822.
  823. ~Life, you see, is unpredictable. An million things can change and go wrong at any given time, from massive projects to simple actions such as filing a bit of paperwork. But you see, one thing that does not change is that there is always a life behind every pony, changeling, gryphon, dragon or whatever you may help. There is always someone who is counting on you.~
  824.
  825. Pointedly, she looked to the mare on the bed.
  826.
  827. ~Yes, there is a chance something new may arise, and we will not be sure how to handle it. But I have trained my student to prepare for the unexpected, and she has proven time and time again that is exactly what she is capable of handling. Be it siblings gone mad with power or beasts of chaos run rampant, she has handled it all. Whatever is to come, I feel she will succeed, and pass this with flying colors as she always has. No matter what comes, she will help you, this I promise.~
  828.
  829. Like an explosion of heat and joy in her chest, Twilight found herself filling with a new resolve, a new purpose, a new confidence that could only come from the caring words of her mentor.
  830.
  831. She could do this.
  832.
  833. She could DO this!
  834.
  835. '...C-can I-HLLK- can I just voice my complaint you're using my child's mother as some kind of test?'
  836.
  837. ~Yes, of course you can!~
  838.
  839. '...I don't like that.'
  840.
  841. ~Your complaint has been noted.~
  842.
  843. '...Huh. Well... you know, I'm pretty sure this is the part where I'm supposed to threaten you if something bad happens to her.'
  844.
  845. ~Feel free, if it makes you feel better!~
  846.
  847. '...I-it won't... j-just make it work...'
  848.
  849. ~Awwww. Well, Twilight, continue your work, as always I shall be overlooking you, and guiding you if there should come an obstacle that you cannot face! However... I have faith in you, that no such obstacle could ever stop you.~
  850.
  851. >...T-thank you princess.
  852.
  853. ~Good. Now...~
  854.
  855. Casually, she took a seat, and pulled out a magazine.
  856.
  857. ~...What? It's going to take a while.~
  858.
  859. "A... a while?"
  860.
  861. ~Oh yes, hours at least.~
  862.
  863. "..."
  864.
  865. '...Just... just try not to pop off my head.'
  866.
  867. "Thank you h-NNGNGGGG!"
  868.
  869. 'GLK!'
  870.
  871. "I'M NOT THANKING YOU YOU DID THIS TO ME YOU DID THIS TO MEEEEEEEE!'
  872.
  873. ~Ah, young love.~
  874.
  875. "AHHHHHHHHHH!"
  876.
  877. With her mentors words driving her, Twilight at last placed her books aside, and got back to work.
  878.
  879. ...And tried not to listen to the niggling thought that the only reason Celestia wasn't taking over was because she wouldn't have any idea what to do either...
