  1. Some events below. It all started with her being really condescending on the Fry channel when I was throwing up ideas about the Pink Cow Run event - (I'll try to find the log). I ignored that at the time, figured it was just her having a bad day or something.
  2.
  3. June 1st (Meeting Cardinal to ask her help on finding Cerise via dreams, this below is after the scene - she's alluding she avoids people and shit has happened, I donno. She and Gabriel both basically avoid everyone, I'd gotten hints of this before)
  4.
  5. <OOC> Jack is glad the Frys try to do shit.
  6. <OOC> Jack says, “We follow our family motto!”
  7. <OOC> Jack says, “If It Needs Doing, Get It Done”
  8. <OOC> Cardinal used to. Got burned. Now hides away.
  9. <OOC> Jack says, “OOC or IC? Or both?”
  10. <OOC> Cardinal hand-wobbles.
  11. OC> Jack says, “Well, this is a player driven plot. Hope that will work fine.”
  12. <OOC> Cardinal says, “It wasn't staff that was an issue, FWIW :P”
  13. <OOC> Jack is sorry to hear that.
  14. <OOC> Cardinal says, “It's not important. I'm glad to facilitate, like I said.”
  15. <OOC> Jack says, “If you two want adventure - I'll run stuff.”

  38. From afar, Cardinal disapprears for tabletop.
  39. <Watch> Cardinal has disconnected.

  41. June 4th - where I have gotten a reply on the scheduling/scene from Dross who runs the whole thing, who wants some clarifications. I answer that @mail (se below - I don't have the write up but it was basically me explaining what we wanna do but that I don't know the mechanics and that Cardinal is better at that part. It has now been 3 days since Cardinal and I Rped about it to start with. She has not responded to any mail about it yet, but I didn't think much of this since really, 3 days is not a whole lot when it comes to waiting. Se her reaction below). Her Martyr Complex is starting up.

  48. Before trying to get something started, would it be possible to get some more detail on the plan? I don't feel like I have a good understanding yet of what Jack/Cardinal/Gabriel want to do and how. I'd like to make sure we are all on the same page re: what they're trying to do and the mechanics.
  49. Schedule-wise, personally, I'm free until 5 pm Eastern most days, this week or otherwise. :) We do also have a scene in process from Cerise's Durance which I'd like to make some progress on this week if possible.

  54. MAIL: You sent your message to Cardinal.
  55.
  56. Cardinal pages: I will answer when I have a moment. I promise.
  57. From afar, Cardinal needs a little trust that she is going to answer.
  58. You paged Cardinal with ‘No rush :D Scene won't happen for ahwile anyway it seems.’
  59. From afar, Cardinal definitely feels a little rushed :|
  60. You paged Cardinal with ‘I'm answering @mail and trying to set up a schedule with lots of players. I don't have weeks. Or infinite time. I have 2-3 hours a day I can even be online, for the most part. So, when I am online, I do stuff.’
  61. You paged Cardinal with ‘Seeing as nobody has answered the schedule mail except Gabriel, I'd say you hardly need to feel stressed about it.’
  62. _______________________
  63. June 12 - things have been calm, we've scheduled the dream chase for Cerise, waiting for the scene. I get this @mail from Cardinal. Note - this is important for later stuff.

  69. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
  70. Text from Cardinal: Have a friend who might be able to help. Best if you meet him first.
  71.
  72. And... Cardinal talked with Carter about dream stuff last night after he mentioned Oneiromancy. He's a scary character and not sure if Jack will react well to him at all, so have other ways for him to help. EITHER WAY, you're both awesome, so using this as an excuse for you two to meet.
  73. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
  74. June 16. We're gonna do our epic scene. Cardinal is being martyr (she's not here to RP, oh no. She's here to 'facilitate' - even if SHE was the one that initially ICly went for this thing - without her, Jack wouldn't have known or had a clue.)
  75.
  76. Long distance to Cardinal: Jack realised that we never RPed out the pledge part. Unless we do that at the start of this scene or hand wave it.
  77. Cardinal pages: Handwave would be preferrable.
  78. Cardinal pages: Gabe won't be joining us.
  79. You paged Cardinal with ‘Yeah, whatever you prefer. And alright.’
  80. Long distance to Cardinal: Jack talked to Cerise - it's alright if she's there, right? Even if she doesn't do anything. It's her dreams we're looking for after all :)
  81. Cardinal pages: Sure.
  82. From afar, Cardinal is just here to facilitate.
  83. You paged Cardinal with ‘You know if Dross is coming? Or Franklyn? (and yeah, you're awesome)’
  84. ____________________________________
  85. June 16 (later the same day for me, day after dream scene for the rest. We've gotten @mail on what derangement we're getting - this will matter since it will result in a problem with Cardinal later on. The derangement is that we have to roll anywhere we cross water. ) In the Seven window, I am chatting with Carter' alt (Carter being the person Cardinal has suggested ICly that Jack should meet.) Carter does not meet with mere humans ICly, and suggests we check if Cardinal can help us meet ICly, since we both wanna meet and RP - and Cardinal is the link. Below are no less than 2 different Martyr Acts from her in the same day. (And notice how I repeatedly say that she can do it in an OOC manner, and handwave, and that it doesn't even have to be right now?)
  86.
  87. Long distance to (Cardinal, Carter): Jack waves!
  88. To (Jack, Carter), Cardinal pages: Heya.
  89. You paged (Cardinal, Carter) with ‘So - would Cardinal be able to introduce Carter at some point? :)’
  90. To (Jack, Carter), Cardinal pages: On-screen?
  91. You paged (Cardinal, Carter) with ‘Yeah. Or failing that, off screen. Carter wouldn't go looking around for a mortal, without a reason :)’
  92. To (Cardinal, Jack), Carter pages: I'd love to have them introduced, yep. But Carter isn't going to go looking without Cardinal to pull him in.
  93. From afar, to (Jack, Carter): Cardinal guesses she can.
  94. To (Cardinal, Jack), Carter pages: Whenever you're available. No pressure. :)
  95. To (Jack, Carter), Cardinal pages: Except that timezone discrepancies being what they are, there kinda is :P
  96. From afar, to (Cardinal, Jack): Carter laughs. "I'm actually around fairly often, save for mornings EST. I keep weird hours that aren't /too/ far off Jack's, as it turns out.
  97. From afar, to (Jack, Carter): Cardinal needs to AFK for a bit, somewhere around 30-45 minutes, can be around for some variable amount of time thereafter.
  98. From afar, to (Cardinal, Jack): Carter salute.
  99. Long distance to (Cardinal, Carter): Jack is in no rush, this was mostly a 'to be able to meet, can you help?'-request :) Poor Cardinal, always having to help that cousin out.
  100. To (Jack, Carter), Cardinal pages: I get it. It's just that if you're relying on me and my time-table to meet, I'm going to feel bad about your inability to interact while you wait for me, so. :P
  101. To (Jack, Carter), Cardinal pages: So, I'll make time. So you guys can do your stuff.
  102.
  103. We decide to meet up at Carter's place. However, this is where the derangement comes into play. We have to possibly CROSS the river to get to Carter.... We contact Annapurna after a bit, se log below.
  104.
  105. <OOC> Jack says, “This your place?”
  106. <OOC> Carter says, “Indeed.”
  107. Carter looks at you.
  108. <OOC> Jack says, “Interestingly, I need to make a roll.”
  109. <OOC> Jack might not be able to get here :D
  110. <OOC> Carter laughs.

  116. <OOC> Jack is good.
  117. Long distance to (Cardinal, Carter): Jack got to roll his first derangement resistance roll :D
  118. Cardinal has arrived.
  119. <OOC> Carter waves.
  120. <OOC> Cardinal fends off dog.
  121. <OOC> Carter whips up a set, then.
  122. You paged Cardinal with ‘We have to cross a river to get here. I rolled 3 successes. But you still realise you're fearing it, right?’
  123. <OOC> Carter says, “The piece, in case Cardinal (or Jack) would recognize it, is "Piano Concerto for the Left Hand", by Maurice Ravel.”
  124. <OOC> Cardinal is uncivilized!
  125. <OOC> Cardinal says, “Uncultured!”
  126. <OOC> Jack too :D
  127. From afar, Cardinal hadn't even noticed there were more @mails.
  128. Cardinal pages: Thanks for pointing that out.
  129. You paged Cardinal with ‘Oh, haha. :D Yeah NP. I thought you had, sorry.’
  130. <OOC> Carter https://youtu.be/ijEiwBLCXeo?t=156 then, for demonstration.
  131. <OOC> Cardinal is trying to figure a thing out, will be just a moment with her pose.
  132. <OOC> Cardinal says, “I cannot tell if we need to cross the river to get here or not, Jack.”
  133. <OOC> Cardinal says, “We might be running along side it?”
  134. <OOC> Jack goes outside to check.
  135. (Heading out to check grid here)
  136. Cardinal pages: The descs are on the wiki ;}
  137. <OOC> Carter says, “Frailty about crossing water, or a derangement of some kind?”
  138. <OOC> Cardinal says, “Derangement.”
  139. To (Cardinal, Jack), Annapurna pages: You can take the NE exit in R02 to get to the lakeside, yep yep.
  140. Long distance to (Annapurna, Cardinal): Jack moves from R01 to LA01
  141. To (Cardinal, Jack), Annapurna pages: If you're coming up through Tambridge, yes, bridge.
  142. From afar, to (Annapurna, Jack): Cardinal salutes. Gotcha. I see that now. Can drive along the lakeside. Thank you!
  143. You paged (Annapurna, Cardinal) with ‘Which way is the closest? :) He'd take that route. He doesn't know.’
  144. To (Cardinal, Jack), Annapurna pages: Fastest route would be going over bridges.
  145. Cardinal pages: Uh, sorry, but Why are we assuming that Jack's driving?
  146. (MY NOTE HERE - at what point did I even say that they arrived in the same car? Why is SHE assuming that they are)
  147. To (Cardinal, Jack), Annapurna pages: Alternate route given by a navigator/phone would be the road through the farms.
  148. To (Cardinal, Jack), Annapurna pages: i.e. NE in R02
  149. You paged Cardinal with ‘I am not, I was just about to say 'unless he goes with Cardinal'’
  150. You paged Cardinal with ‘Jesus, stop being so damn defensive. It's getting on my nerves.’
  151. From afar, Cardinal squints.
  152. You paged Cardinal with ‘and really, if you don't want to RP, you don't have to do anything. I'm not interested in anyone being a martyr to get me to RP with someone. Carter said he wouldn't RP unless he was introduced by Cardinal. I ask. Then get guilted for asking.’
  153. Cardinal pages: If you'd be so kind, please try to consider it from my side?
  154. To (Cardinal, Jack), Annapurna pages: The neighbourhoods around the outlet of the river are mostly the snooty rich closed sort which don't have through-ways, to discourage people from using them as shortcuts.
  155. Cardinal pages: I pointed the two of you at each other, thinking you might enjoy RP. Then I'm told you aren't going to RP unless I facilitate. But no rush, no pressure, just the looming knowledge that Nothing Is Going to Happen unless I help. While my RL is swamped and I know full well that I won't have much time/availability for the next four weeks.
  156. Cardinal pages: I'm stressed. I'm frustrated. I don't mean to make people feel bad, and I am sorry if I have.
  157. <OOC> Carter says, “What happens if you had to cross it?”
  158. You paged Cardinal with ‘And both of us said, there is no rush. I also said it can happen off screen. I didn't want this, Carter wanted this. I could've figured out ten different ways for us to meet, but he clearly wasn't interested. At this point, I'm not so sure I think he's worth it.’
  159. <OOC> Cardinal says, “Hey, I'm sorry, guys. My RL is poking at me. I need to head off for a bit. I'm really sorry about the inconvenience.”
  160. Cardinal goes home.
  161. Cardinal has left.
  162. From afar, Cardinal bows out. Again, I apologize.
  163. <Watch> Cardinal has disconnected.
  164. <OOC> Jack heads out too, sorry. Too much stress trying to sort out a scene.

  169. /=====[ SS Peter and Paul Church - North Beach ]=============================\
  170.
  171. The interior of the church was constructed using Carrara marble from Pietrasanta, Italy. The high altar completed in 1926, is of central importance within the space and still has the original Communion Rail. Made from carved Carrara marble, the altar features statutes of St. Peter and St. Paul on either side of Jesus Christ. Above the high altar is a dome with a portrait of Christ. The side altars are crafted from mosaic tiles and 129 stained glass windows are found throughout the church.
  172. An immense pipe organ is placed in the fore of the church on a balcony over the entrance. It sits just beneath the Rose Window, an exquisite 14' stained glass window placed just above the church's entrance. The afternoon sun slants through the brightly colored panes, casting a serene, amber glow over the interior. The rows of wooden pews face the altar on either side of a long, red carpet that runs the length of the church from the door to the altar.

  187. Long distance to (Lucian, Aliza): Jack laughs.

  189. Aliza has arrived.
  190. <OOC> Jack doesn't care that much, but maybe suggest it will be changed. Not only catholics go here, as is obvious :)

  209. <OOC> Jack changes to 'Take me to church!'
  210.
  211. While parishioners go about their business in the chapel, Father Lucian hides himself away in an office well-removed from that bustle. It's only his second day up and about after their encounter with the Herald some days ago, those peculiar wounds of his taking time to recede, his strength slow to come back. Most of yesterday was spent bowed over books, taking notes, doing reading, scouring what Lust left behind. Today, he's extended an invitation to Jack and Aliza for them to join him in his borrowed office which smells of coffee, a mug close at hand.
  212. You paged Aliza with ‘coming together?’
  213. Aliza pages: Yes please :)
  214. Aliza pages: you can go first :D
  215.
  216. Jack has done better perhaps, as he's up and about and even back to work - but he's stiff still and sore. It's perhaps noticed by the perceptive as he and Aliza enters, Jack in uniform and with Lucy at his side as usual. No genuflecting there, but he shoots a respectful nod up at the Rose window - that's as far as he goes. Least it's something.
  217.
  218. He doesn't speak anything crossing the church floors to find the office. Talking in church, it just echoes everywhere. "Father Lucian?" he says, knocking and peeking inside first. "Thanks for seeing us. You recovering okay?"
  219.
  220. She follows along with Jack and Lucy, looking much better than she did after the eye burn she received during their last meeting at the church with the dagger. Aliza is wearing a pencil skirt that hugs the hips and rides on a high waist-line with a white blouse tucked in and little cap sleeves. To spite the fact she's wearing heels, she does genuflect as best as she can and gives her respect. Jack has taken the words right out of her mouth however and she's looking to Father Lucian expectantly.
  221.
  222. The wounds which had opened inexplicably upon Lucian's forehead outside the apartment have healed up without a trace. Chances are, the same can be said for all those other injuries which had manifested themslves, hidden beneath his modest, priestly clothing. Mostly, he just looks a bit tired still, as if he's not quite yet fully recovered from the more psychological strain of facing so terrible a beast as the one they sent back to Hell. The only answer he offers to their concern is a slim smile and a shallow nod as he looks up from his current reading to gesture to the chairs in front of the desk. "We've more work to do, it seems, if the both of you are prepared to continue our efforts? I expect we may be able to end this with a little less mess moving forward."
  223.
  224. <OOC> Aliza says, "he's so cute he thinks we sent it back to hell."
  225. <OOC> Lucian says, "Out of commission for a few weeks. Whatever :P"
  226.
  227. "Really?" Jack says, perking up hearing that - he moves inside and finds a chair to sit on near the desk, making room for Aliza. Ajusting that belt, as always. Lucy sits next to him, looking at Lucian with her kind puppy eyes. "Please tell me you found the true name of one of the demons. Or how to build a demon nuke. I'd be fine with that too." Of course he can't just be happy there might be good news, got to be a bit sarcastic. But there is a little grin, taking the edge of that.
  228.
  229. "You do look a little better, Father." Aliza agrees, sliding into a chair across from him. It's true, he's not the bloody mess that she had seen him as last time. "I'd like to continue the efforts, but as Jack said we need to true name of one of the demons to bind it. It's also extremely dangerous." She places one leg over the other and her hands in her lap. "But we need some kind of translation to the book. We need details... But I have been thinking it over - none of us are safe while Dolph still walks the earth. We should likely target him. He's the real threat."
  230. <OOC> Lucian wasn't really clear, talking with Lucifer, which parts are and aren't in Enochian.
  231. <OOC> Jack says, "He hasn't with us either, so make it up, it should be fine I think"
  232. <OOC> Lucian isn't generally keen on making up stuff for other people's stories :P
  233. <<+WATCH>> Lee has connected.
  234. <OOC> Jack got the feeling that we got everything that could be gotten from the book that wasn't IN Enochian. So it's likely that what Lucian found, was written in Enochian. But you don't have to touch on the language part.
  235. <OOC> Lucian says, "Right, except... I dunno quite what you found :P"
  236. <OOC> Jack says, "well, Lucian has the whole book. He can assumedly read the whole book. Did he only read the enochian parts?"
  237. <OOC> Lucian says, "All I'm saying is: I'm sorry if I didn't get new information or can't distinguish new information or if what new information I have is vague :P"
  238. <OOC> Jack says, "It doesn't matter if he has old information too. Aliza just told him the main part that we found out, that we need a true name. We know there's a hellmouth planend to be opened, that there's 7 heralds (one for each sin) that need to do something. There's talk about human sacrifices in order to do this plus taking power off of humans somehow"
  239. <OOC> Jack doesn't remember much else at this very moment - you want to add something Aliza?
  240. <OOC> Aliza says, "I'm stuck til I can corner Yumaris I think :)"
  241.
  242. Lucian takes up his mug of coffee as he sinks back into his chair, watching the other two. Given his lack of smile, one might guess there's no demon-nuke waiting for deployment. "I have very little interest in making a second attempt against a better defended target, Miss Teigan. We barely survived the last, and we saw grave retaliation for our efforts." He gives his fingers a little flutter, separating briefly from his much. "Unless you mean finding his name first," which seems to meet with a nod of approval. "I'm able to translate the rituals, the pacts, the intentions, the lists of potential victims. Miss Simms remains one of Lust's targets. She should be watched, lest the fiend find its way back to her in a couple weeks."
  243.
  244. Jack does squirm a bit uncomfortably when Odessa is mentioned, but listens closely. He's not surprised to hear she's still a target, and he rubs his temple a little - like that's a headache he doesn't know how to get rid of. "I can't go near Odessa. She'll probably shoot me," he says wryly. "Don't think either of us are high on her list of people she wants to run into. Do we know someone who /can/ approach her?"
  245.
  246. Her eyes dart to Jack curiously (and briefly) when he squirms then looks back, giving a little smile to the priest. "Dolph was the one that retaliated. None of the others have - or possibly would. It's true, he's probably the most dangerous... which is why I can't go back home or to my work until the demon that's possessing him is done away with. For good. He knows where I live and sends his men to check up on me on almost a regular basis. I've been hiding since the Incident..." Aliza says with something of a pleading tone to her voice. "Anyway Odessa probably doesn't want to see me either."
  247.
  248. Lucian's blue-eyed attention dips toward his desk as they both beg off Odessa Duty, a nod given in acknowledgement. He'll have to figure that one out, it seems, but there's time. When he looks up, it's with some smidge of sympathy for Aliza. "I appreciate the difficulty of your situation. I hope you understand my hesitation to bring any literal fight to him?" Though it sounds like a question, it must be rhetorical as he moves on quickly. "We have the rituals we need. What we need now are names. What we could use, then, are scholars. And leads."
  249.
  250. "I'll think on the Odessa thing," Jack says - he's not just stepping away, but he nods thankfully at Lucian - if nothing else because he cares. "I got an idea who to talk to but I'd rather wait and see if there's a better one." He doesn't give any names there. "We believe Dolph is Pride. What if we make him come to us somehow... rather than sit in that fort of his at the bar?" he asks, rubbing his jaw. "If we can't find any name before two weeks are up, we're going to /have/ to do a repeat performance. Dolph is up."
  251.
  252. She gives Lucian a nod when he asks her for understanding. "The only thing close to a Scholar I have in mind is Natalie? I mean - other than that..." Aliza lifts her shoulders helplessly, worrying her lower lip. "It's going to come down to a fight whether we like it or not. They definitely aren't going down without a fight. Whether we set it on our terms or let them bring the fight to us - it's coming."
  253.
  254. "You are welcome to make the attempt yourself," Lucian says to Jack, giving a tired wave of his coffee mug. It sounds like this is a line he doesn't mean to cross. He flashes a thin, apologetic smile to Aliza. "Unless either of you have anything else, we have work to do."
  255.
  256. "That list of names, the targets of the demons - what are they using them for? And should we try to get them out of harms way? It might tip our hand. They'll know we know, if we start doing that," Jack says, standing up however - he's making ready to leave. "We sure got our work cut out for us, yeah."
  257.
  258. Aliza returns Lucian's smile and also rises after seeing Jack was readying himself to leave. She looks to Jack curiously, "What else would a demon like that want? Sacrifice." She gives the both of them an apologetic smile and begins to move toward the door. "If you think of anything else, or need anything, Father? Don't hesitate to call."
  259. <OOC> Jack has no honest idea about how to research a demon's true name, heh. (And doesn't have the IC skills for it anyway.)
  260. <OOC> Aliza has no idea either! I thought that'd be Lucian's department
  261. <OOC> Lucian shrugs. Okay.
  262. <OOC> Lucian is just keeping people informed.
  263.
  264. "No," Lucian says in regards to Aliza's assumption about that list of names. "Not simple sacrifices. Mortals to whom they might bind themselves, who might make pacts and sell off their souls. As already stated, Miss Simms is at risk. It does us little good to guard them all, but having the list will make it easier to identify the demons should they take new faces or new minions." He nods to the pair then, leaning forward once more over his desk, his book.
  265.
  266. "Mind sending me that list?" Jack asks, adjusting the belt and nudging Lucy's head with his fingers, a common gesture from him. "Least we can try keeping an eye on them. I got some people that can help with that." Probably street contacts and snitches, things like that. "At least some of them, maybe not all." He frowns, thinking. "If we go after someone - can we borrow the sword?"
  267. <OOC> Lucian shrugs about the list? We'd want to check with Lucifer?
  268. <OOC> Lucian says, "I don't think he has an actual list, I mean. I think it's more vague piece of nebulous data."
  269. <OOC> Lucian says, "So I don't have anything to *actually* send."
  270. <OOC> Jack says, "Right, but ICly he'd send it? Can make a job saying Jack is gonna try to keep a general eye on them."
  271. <OOC> Lucian says, "Yeah."
  272. <OOC> Jack says, "and actually, there are some PCs that are targets, not only Odessa. I think."
  273. <OOC> Lucian says, "He only told me Odessa. I expect there are others too, yeah."
  274. <OOC> Jack says, "Huh, well - we'll start a job and see what comes up :) Want me to start it?"
  275. <OOC> Jack can add you both and ask Babalon to publish the job for us, so we see comments.
  276. <OOC> Aliza says, "Sure, I don't mind :)"
  277. <OOC> Lucian says, "Aliza, were you getting in another pose?"
  278. <OOC> Jack says, "assuming he can locate the people. If someone is called John Smith, might be a bit hard to figure out exactly which John Smith"
  279. <OOC> Aliza says, "I think it's safe to end the scene there since I have nothing at the moment to add methinks"
  280.
  281. Lucian tips a nod for the request of a list, but he answers an easy, firm, "No," at the request for the sword. He looks up, briefly, before turning his attention back to his reading as he murmurs, "God be with you," as they go.
  282. <OOC> Aliza says, "cheers!"
  283. Aliza heads back out to the street.
  284. Aliza has left.
  285.
  286. "Alright," Jack says, nodding curtly at Lucian. "Thanks for the info - I'll let you know if something comes up," he notes, then turns to nudge Aliza's elbow and leave the place.
  287. You voted for Lucian.
  288. <OOC> Jack says, "Thanks :)"
  289. You make your way back out to the street.
