  1. Downtown was a hustling, bustling mess during the mid-week, people walking, riding, driving, and flying to and from their homes, jobs, and haunts like clockwork. The constant roar of life was everywhere, filling every corner of the burg. People of every shape and kind filled the streets and sidewalks, a coruscating, undulating rainbow of color. Skin, fur, feathers, scales, mucous membranes, and more, far stranger things brushed and rubbed together in the seething mass of life and unlife.
  2. The air filled with the soaring forms of specters and harpies, dragons and griffins, gargoyles and fairies, dancing through the breeze above the packed earth below. Cars, trucks, and minivans sped along the roadways, carrying their passengers along on their business.
  3. One car, in particular, a cream 4-door with a sunroof, was on its way to "get us an outlaw."
  4. Azar wasn't sure how they were meant to accomplish that by driving around town, but she was glad to be out of the house. Relaxing her grip on the steering wheel, not wanting to leave claw marks, she sighed to herself. Being cooped up with her growing unease had been terrible. This outing could at least offer her some calm.
  5. Out of the corner of her eye, Cassidy, riding shotgun, was bouncing in her seat as she looked out the window, her face split with an ecstatic grin. In the back seat, Lonnie sat, twiddling her thumbs and fighting down another wave of car sickness, her unhealthy, pale complexion ever-so-slightly green.
