Make sure to mention what you'd like your submission to be called (such as the name of a map you've created), and state a name or alias if you'd like to be credited for your work. - // 3. ORIGINAL BATTLE.NET SITES //
- Blizzard used to have some pretty cool official sites for their games. Sadly, these sites aren't maintained anymore, and some contain outdated info or are missing content; but they're still a neat trip down memory lane (and occasionally a good resource for info).

- // 5. HOW TO MAKE A NEW /CBG/ THREAD //
- If there's no /cbg/ thread in the catalog, then you can make one yourself. This guide will teach you how.
- First, let's see what a proper thread should look like (as it appears between the lines below):
- ———————————
- /cbg/ - Classic Blizzard General #000
- PREVIOUS THREAD: >>00000000
- This thread is dedicated to the discussion of any classic games made by Blizzard Entertainment; those being every game released from their early days as Silicon & Synapse to the release of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (2003). Fans of Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo and even older series like The Lost Vikings, Rock N' Roll Racing and Blackthorne are all welcome here.
- For a short history of Blizzard and a list of all their games, check out this wiki:
- - COMMUNITY PASTEBIN -
- You can find custom content made by other /vr/ users, as well as download links, mods, guides and more by visiting our community pastebin:
- Relax, talk and play. Let's have a good thread.
- ———————————
- Basically, you're just copying and pasting the above template into a new post. However, before you get baking there are a few important things to note, so please read the following instructions carefully:
- 1) First, you'll need to choose a good image for the thread. Ideally, this should be something that's related to classic blizzard games, has "/cbg/ - Classic Blizzard General" somewhere within the image itself, and is at least somewhat tasteful and nice to look at. Also, be sure to name the image file "classic_blizzard_general", as this makes it easier for fellow anons to find the threads.
- 2) The first line in the template above (that begins with "/cbg/") goes in the "Subject" form of the new post, not in the body. Make sure to number the thread accordingly (e.g. if the last thread was "/cbg/ - Classic Blizzard General #99", then make the new one "/cbg/ - Classic Blizzard General #100").
- 3) "PREVIOUS THREAD: >>00000000" is the first line of the actual post body. The "00000000" here is a placeholder for the eight-digit post number of the last thread.
- 4) If you don't know the thread number or post number of the last thread, you can find them on warosu.org/vr/. Just visit this link to see an archive of every /cbg/ thread and look for the most recent thread:
- https://warosu.org/vr/?task=search2&ghost=false&search_text=&search_subject=Classic+Blizzard+General&search_username=&search_tripcode=&search_email=&search_filename=&search_datefrom=&search_dateto=&search_media_hash=&search_op=all&search_del=dontcare&search_int=dontcare&search_ord=new&search_capcode=all&search_res=post
- 5) As thread maker, you'll need to update the community pastebin by doing the following:
- - First, read through the last thread and collect any important information. For the most part, this should be stuff like links to custom maps made by other anons, links to new mods, or other things of merit. An easy way to do this is to open a text document and simply copy-paste any info as you find it.
- - Next, you'll need to create a new pastebin link. Go to pastebin.com, select the green "+ paste" button at the top of the screen, and this will create a new paste window.
- - Now, open the last thread's pastebin link, copy all of the text within it, paste it into your new pastebin window, and then add the information you collected. Make sure to follow the format of previous entries and to include relevant information such as the name of a map or the alias a contributor wishes to be credited under.
- - Finally, click "Create new paste" at the bottom of the new pastebin screen. This will generate a new pastebin post. Copy the link from the browser window and replace the "https://pastebin.com/somethingsomething" placeholder in the thread template with the new, real pastebin link.
- With these subtleties in mind, you should now know everything you need to create a new /cbg/ thread. Making a new thread is a somewhat time-consuming process if done well, but it's necessary for keeping our community alive. Be diligent and do your fellow anons proud.
- . . .
- Well, you've reached... THE END.
