Joel scratches at his fingers idly in indication that he, too, is in the know as far as what they're both looking for. "I read the news," he states briefly, brows raising. "IANAD, though." And he doesn't define the internet acronym.

  32. MoGui would HEAR this! There is word moving thru the streets and alleys... someone -is- looking for something. And oddly, it's those little stupid digital toys. The Tamagotchi!

  34. Naozumi shakes his head, "Me neither... but it would be useful. It seems it isn't too good for your health to get too involved with some of them."

  36. Lana (who will probably pose in a minute), has asked 'her people' to look around for anyone who has them openly, or knows of anywhere to find them. However, she does not have one... so there's no sample to show.

  38. "OUTTA THE WAY! OUTTA! THE! WAY!" You'll HEAR him before you actually SEE him, running through the streets. A cell phone is clutched in his hand. "I see'im! I SEE'IM!!!" Mo skids to a stop near the group, then pulls his smartphone up and looks through it. "YASSSSS! CHARMANDER!" Did - did he just flick a virtual pokeball at a pokemon? Wait - did he - is he - confused between pokemon and tamagotchi? "Finally." he mutters. "Got some bait..."

  40. Yes. Yes, Mo. Is. Confused. But that doesn't stop him from making a plucky effort. And trying to help!
  41. Naozumi gives the Pokemaster, room, as these alleys tend to be narrow.

  43. Perhaps it is the yelling of MoGui or just fate, but Lana makes her way along the street. In her wake two gangers are checking over various people who has at least a phone in their hand. Anything would make due if they can't find a tamagotchi at this point, anything to please Lana it seems.

  45. Naozumi is standing, showing Joel an example, "This seems to be one of the tainted variety."

Even at night, the sidewalks are awash with Asians - men and women moving doggedly past open markets selling live fish, barbecued meat, and thousands of vegetables that most Westerners could never put a name to. There is a market of snapping turtles, two feet across, struggling to get out of plastic milk crates. In the next window, trays of duck feet and bills were arranged around smoked pig heads, while whole naked pheasants hung ripening above.

  49. The air is heavy with the smells of pressed humanity, soy sauce, sesame oil, licorice and car exhaust - always car exhaust.

  51. To walk through Chinatown is to become part of a dangerous dance, because there are no back doors or alleys for loading, and all the wares move across the sidewalk. In this dance, every partner is one of a thousand tiny Chinese grandmothers in black slippers or jelly-colored plastic shoes who scamper from merchant to merchant, squeezing and smelling and thumping, looking for the rest and the best for their family, twanging orders and questions to the merchants in Mandarin and Cantonese and a dozen other smaller, more obscure dialects. Through this melee is the threat of being run over by sides of beef, great racks of fresh duck, or hand trucks stacked high with crates of live turtles.

There's a little distaste in his voice, and he gazes out towards the start of the alley, raising his brows skeptically at Lana's arrival as well. He reaches out a hand for the tainted Tamagotchi, no verbal request behind it.

"'m MoGui. Mo, for short." Then his eyes go to the Tamagotchi,

Whatever the magick is that has entered into the thing, he's not going to let Naozumi, Lana, or even MoGui subject themselves to it, it seems. His hand curls around the egg-shaped device, and he pulls out an ancient pager in the other hand, drawing a deep breath. "All right, you shady little piece of shit." He's talking to the Tamagotchi, probably, and there's a slight electrical buzzing around him as he focuses, his eyes on the item. The word 'gweilo,' though, he knows, and he raises a brow at the Mandarin-speaker. "Cute."

After all it seems the westerner has things in hand with this tamagochi and she needs to find another to report to her master.

  104. Mo's eyes widen a little as he watches Joel do the (figurative) voodoo that he does so well. "The chi, the yin, its flowing into the toy. But then, the trail stops. Its like ... a conduit, harvesting the chi and sending it ... somewhere," he mutters to himself before snapping out of his reverie amd turning to look at Nao. "Nice to meetcha Naozumi, I'm Mo. If you need a cheap place to crash, I can get steer you right." But then he indicates that attention should return to Joel and The Machine. Not as spiritually uplifting as Florence and the Machine, but hey. You work with what you got!

  111. The poor little Tamagotchi is lying there inert, in Joel's hands. But then suddenly... as he fiddles with it... the little screen pops on and there's a sad, forlorn sound... as it plays the digital emit for it's little pet's death. And then, it goes DEAD."

  113. Joel smiles broadly but not warmly at Lana as she disappears. He mutters at MoGui, "A lotta yack there. Shut up." And, being the pleasant soul that he is, he takes another step aside. The electrical buzzing grows louder. He switches out the pager for his cellphone, keeping both in the hand that doesn't have the Tamagotchi. There are a few quiet moments where he moves to set up an internet connection to his Trinary deck at home, and a series of programming languages scroll through on his phone as he studies the thing, countermagick snapping into the phone with sudden intensity to shut off the conduit to wherever it may lead. The Tamagotchi dies a quick death. "And fuck you too."

  115. Ok. The three of you are in a busy Chinatown street, with a dead Tamagotchi. There has been a discussion of what it did, but now it does not do that.

We should find the place selling these and kick the ass of whatever motherfucker's decided to be a shitlord to all the folks here." He raises his brows at the others, adding, "Vamanos." And he starts to stroll from the alley, lingering just a pace or two to let someone else take the lead.

The Trail leads down an alley, through a puddle of spilled sesame oil, under an awning of worn and sun-bleached lanterns, and past brick and mortar walls that hold countless random and sundry items for sale. Finding oneÕs way thru Chinatown is a maze of confusion, a chessboard of far too many pieces, and an adult sized ball pit of colors, shapes and sizes. ItÕs a mess, but alsoÉ wildly wonderful.

  170. When you finally find the destination, itÕs an unassuming shop sandwiched between a tiny storefront selling office supplies and another thatÕs got restaurant equipment.

I'm gonna go around back and see if I can sneak in. I'm not much of a people person." Truer words were never spoken, and Joel raises a hand, moving to cut around the block for the back delivery entrance.

  206. Past the shelves of plastic curious and the racks of worthless paper goods and unknowably pointless assemblies of color and shape is -probably- some kind of counter. Behind it is -likely- perched an ADD-raddled mind that came up with the design of this shop. UnlessÉ one simply threw the interior design plans up into a ceiling fan built the place around wherever the shredded pieces landed.

  235. The place is so cluttered, you can't even tell if anyone else is in here. The music playing on the cheap speakers is... no kidding... chopsticks, on a loop. If you're gonna find anyone, you need to look around.

  239. "Feng Shui," corrects Mo. But lucky for you, I'm proficient in both!" The man warms up his hands, limbering them up to execute a few mudras as he works his ADVENTURE! brand of Etheric magic.

  241. Joel stops short. "Fuck." He looks along the side of the block, trying to find another way in. But there isn't one. Late to the party, he arrives at the front door again, swinging it open a bit more widely than he necessarily needs to. He taps his tongue to his teeth, taking a long look around. "Ain't no back door to the place. Or if there is, there's something screwy about it," he calls over to the others, folding his arms and stopping by the entrance to take a long look around.

  252. There's a -whoosh- and somewhere in the shop (that you cant see), a candle flickers. Several do. One might even go out. Those of you attuned to the Yin and Yang would feel the balance getting a LOT closer to the preferred state, but it's still no temple of harmony. It's still a Bad Place(tm).

  254. Mo will execute a few well-intentioned mudras, doing his level best to "brush" the big blob of Arcane and Misdirection and negative chi and joss away.

  256. "Ugh, I'ma need a shower after this," mutters Mo. Then, louder, "Joel! Over here!!!" Glad to have back-up, back up was key, as Captain Levinbolt always used to say!

  260. The three of you are still standing in the 'front' of the shop, though you could probably pick any direction or aisle and quickly not have any idea what the layout is really like. Pick a lane. Left? Right? Maybe around the rack of red and yellow fans? Maybe under the stuffed dragons? Past the fireworks display that isnt really fireworks, but just colored ribbons?

  262. Joel ignores MoGui as he goes prowling through the aisles. His first stop is the fireworks display, because of course the man whose resonance is electricity is drawn to things that could explode -- even if they're fake. He squats down to study the display, poking through it without hesitation, colored ribbons being shifted this way and that as he tries to isolate the source.

  266. Naozumi shows the others some of the items, "These are horrible quality. I am not even sure if they are real. Is this a set up?"

  268. Mo feels .. squicky ... inauspicious joss and rotten chi was no fun to be around to those attuned to the middle kingdom's fundamental forces. A sigh, "What're we looking for, again? Or is it someone?" He'll keep his head on a swivel as he wanders and looks around.

  276. Joel moves to lift a box that /should/ be cardboard that can't be so easily crushed, and then he crumples it up in a hand like it's a sheet of computer paper. "We got a setup here," he announces to the pair. "This is all a goddamn theater set to attract kids like catnip. Beware of middle-aged guys in vans with 'Free Candy' scrawled on the side." He only now moves towards MoGui and Naozumi at the counter, but he doesn't stop there, starting to round the counter to head into the back, unhesitating. The approach of Mr. Gokko stops him short. "Charlie Chan much?" he demands, but he gazes towards the two Asian men, curious about their reaction.

  278. FINALLY! SOMETHING MO CAN KUNG-FU PUNCH! The youth growls, "Th' fuck is this, some sorta outlander devil come to clown on the naives?" he'll take a breath, focusing and channeling his chi. Many men have dreamed of holding the lightning in their hands, but a few can actually do it! They didn't call Mo "Kid Levinbolt" among the Society of Aether for nothing! Yang chi will arc and thunder about his hands and body as he approaches the 'shopkeeper'. "I represent the Azure Dragon of the East - what sort of traphouse operation do you think you're running here!"

  341. Joel mutters, "Idiot," as he watches the display of power, backtracking to the shelves. He pulls out his gun and his pager. Buzz buzz. There's nothing doing from him, really, although when he stands, he has his gun in his hand, maintaining his distance from the fight that's about to break out. The smoke cloud makes him draw a quick breath and then try to duck out of the way of the smoke, in case there's something poisonous in it. When he realizes he can breathe, he trains his gun on where the curtain /was/, at least, the only sound he can make out in the midst of all the chaos. He doesn't fire yet, just gets a bead on whatever it is.

But it's fine, right? That guy was a bad guy. Safety back on, he drops his revolver back into his pocket. "Get the Tamagotchis. I can disable 'em." A flash of teeth to assure the other two everything's fine, right? It's totally fine. "Your place; your cleanup."
