- [09:54:33] The odd adventures that Saulot had lived through around Wychwood and Nostvale were over, for now at least. He travelled back to New Alteros for even more of the notes about magic, more specifically about Riftmancy; the fabled library should certainly include that, if it had books and notes collected over years and even decades, such art as Riftmancy should surely be included in there.
- On his way to the library, he paid his attention to surroundings often, as if to see if he'll meet someone familiar. All too often he met people of different caliber around New Alteros, and it wouldn't be much of a surprise if he had met someone.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [09:58:49] Mallroth had been travelling back and forth across Valmasia in search of his brethren from which he hasn't heard in years. Dark thoughts begun slowly invading his mind and weighing him down mentally. He recently returned from Nostvale where he met a young boy holding a sweets stall and a bold sirenian who managed to slightly get his spirits up.
- Mallroth walked across the crowded streets of New Alteros, stepping sluggishly towards what once was a training ground for him and his brethren. His eyes found refuge upon the visage of a young individual. They widened as he quickly managed to put the slightly changed face into his memory - an old friend.
- A smile slowly crawled into the corner of Mallroth's mouth as he approached, spreading his arms slightly as he spoke: "Greetings, Saulot. Long time, friend!"
- (Mallroth Eklund)
- [10:02:14] Indeed, it was quite a long time, and much had happened. Saulot's look was semi-tired, weary of constant travel as he fled his past, both literally and figuratevily. He flashed a small, polite smile towards Mallroth's direction after noticing his visage, soon nodding to him in a greeting and thus responding verbally as well.
- "Good to see you too, Mallroth. How have you been?"
- Strangers often proved to be unpleasant to communicate with, unreliable, or downright dangerous, but Mallroth was someone whom he'd known for a long time. Even though their first meeting start off with his brother Cyrillim basically telling Saulot to get lost, much had changed since then; Saulot was maturing, soon to become an adult, but Mallroth had already been one.
- "I'm in a bit of hurry, though, heading to the library. Do you want to tag along?"
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [10:04:48] Mallroth cocked his eyebrows with interest as the smile remained constant upon his mouth, although as weak as his eyes. He was glad that at his friend was looking into getting stronger. He exhaled sharply through his nose, proceeding to nod.
- "Sure.. Sure. I could take a look over something as well.", he said, unwilling to speak any further as to not hold Saulot back from his goals and studies.
- (Mallroth Eklund)
- [10:09:55] Saulot nodded with a smile to that remark. At least Mallroth was understanding to his ambition and goals and wouldn't stall him, and that was truly a good trait from a friend. Without furhter await, he gestured Mallroth to follow him suit whilst he proceeded towards the library, almost turning it into light jog as well.
- "Alright, let's get going then."
- The short trip to the library didn't take long, obviously. Although New Alteros had been getting crowded lately due to population changes, a lot of open space still had it's own effect upon density of the city, and thus it was rather easy to move around. Perhaps common people threw glances at two young men, that is Saulot and Mallroth, going to the library in hurry, but he paid no mind to them.
- "At last. I've got some time to dwelve into studies now."
- He spoke to himself, but at the same time that speech could be used by Mallroth to acknowledge something else about Saulot. Clearly he had been getting busy if he could not devote himself to such studies.
- Pacing inside of the library, Saulot's eyes narrowed. He was carefully looking around, as if to see if there's anything at all that could be related to Riftmancy; his pace was quick and impatient, walking quickly at each bookshelf to inspect it and move on, soon coming to realisation that the first floor of the library had nothing about it. A small sigh escaped his lips - but hey, at least there were many more floors to go.
- "It's not here, let's keep moving."
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [10:15:02] Finding one book of the many was not an easy task, but Saulot was genuinely trying. Though, the second floor of the library seemed rather crowded... but that was explainable, after all there's been even more bookshelves and more places where one could read something.
- Quickly pacing among the shelves, he took the interest in those that mentioned rather... complicated Arts. His pace immediately stopped and his eyes ran across the bookshelf as thorough as it could be, inspecting for the necessary book.
- Ah, there it was.
- At last, tome on Riftmancy and the notes about it. Although, it likely did not explain the magic in details, but hopefully enough to pick it up, regardless. He picked it up and headed to the first floor, gesturing Mallroth to follow.
- "Come on, tag along."
- Making his way back to the first floor, Saulot's arms were loaded with a decent quanity of notes about magic. They elaborated about the technique used in it and other traits upon it, prompting the young magi to grow a restless grin on his face.
- This would be priceless to read.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [10:26:08] Taking a seat at the table on the first floor, Saulot immediately placed the notes about Riftmancy and the book infront of himself. The young magi was more than eager to grow, not just as a man but as an accomplished magi - and considering the recent events that had been happening to him, he wished to obtain more power to be able to control himself better, or at least he believed that he would be able to control himself.
- He was aware that Riftmancy is Depraved magics. But if he already had fallen once to the urge of rage, what would stop him to fall another time, regardless of studying such magic or not? In fact, if he had submerged himself in that, and could still be able to conceal such Depravity, it would only help him prove to himself that he'll be more than capable of controlling himself just fine, even as the years pass.
- It was nothing but silence once he started reading those notes upon Riftmancy and the tome... the young noble's eyes were locked on the pages, almost as if they were forcibly tied down to discovery; on the surface he was calm, but deep down he was boiling with excitement to acknowledge this Art, one that was considered more or less unique - especially comparing to common magics that many other magi wielded.
- 'Cognitive technique... I know that all too well already.'
- And indeed, Saulot was a master of cognitive magic already. He was tutored at the very early age once his magical affinity and talent were discovered, and ever since then he was honing it, perfecting the precision that he works with. The cognitive magic was not challenging at all for him, capable of channeling large quantities of mana without much struggle. In fact, the young magi could even do Mixed Casting - a clear testimony of the fact on just how skilled he truly was.
- Seconds, minutes, even hours.
- His eyes wouldn't stop reading every single letter from the book and notes. As a matter of fact, it wasn't even that extensive, but explained just enough to pick up the art. Rest assured, his experience would carry him along the way and help him educate himself on the matters of Riftmancy, eventually turning him into potent Rift Magi.
- The mind of a young noble was acknowledging all the words thoroughly without a stop. It should've been more than enough to make him understand the concept of such magic, leave alone actually attempt to try it. He was already experienced, even accomplished magi to some extent, harboring much experience behind his shoulders.
- Time passed. Theory was understood.
- It was time for practice.
