its obvious you never watched any of the mass produced westerns and just watched successful ones like spaghetti westerns and other films deemed classics. most were bland and didn't tackle any deep themes you listed. you had the shoot out schlocks where its about a macguffin that could easily be replaced with an infinity stone or something as the whole appeal is the shootouts, and on the opposite side of the spectrum you have the singing cowboy and lone ranger type where reality is watered down into easily digestible family friendly content that makes capeshit look like the green elephant.
westerns were cheap, that is the only reason why there was a shit ton of them

because westerns coincided with where the film industry was, really easy to get vast stretched of desert to film in california. if hollywood was located in new england then pilgrim movies would replace the western. it was just a cheap and popular genre you could set any story to.

listen, my parents would just let MeTV play on in the background constantly. i've actually seen these westerns and they are nothing to write home about. alot of them were just whatever was popular at the time + cowboys. here have a cowboy enter a an indian palace owned by boris karloff in the middle of the wild west while a man in a gorrila suit dances in the background.

that feeling of tense on uneasyness as in a mexican standoff from the good the bad and the ugly is not what the majority of westerns were, a large part of them did have a plot that started with "pa, look what I found while I was playing by the river" and then a bad guy shows up to collect the macguffin.

Westerns have nothing to do with historical reality. They are just as every bit fantasy as superhero movies. More than their themes, they have been tools to enforce justification of violence.

Lots of Westerns also use matte painting backgrounds that look fake as fuck, just as superhero movies use CGI now.
