  1. ResilientGM IT IS THE 41ST MILLENNIUM,,,
  2. The crew of the /Aurorae/ have made a grand discovery.
  3. It is in the very character of Rogue Trader vessels to push beyond and extend the boundaries of the
  4. Imperium, to find lost human worlds, and to recover ancient knowledge and technologies lost to man
  5. for millennia. Within the first year of Lord Wilhelm's ascension as holder of the Rosenkrantz Warrant,
  6. he and his most trusted advisers have been able to somehow perform every one
  7. of these feats so paired in the romanticized image of a Rogue Trader crew.
  8. But it takes much more for a dynasty to survive and thrive in the annals of Imperial history.
  9. The return to Imperial space saw the Aurorae go from Port Wander, where essential repairing, refitting,
  10. and resupplying took place, only to immediately find itself in the orbit of the decadent Sector Capital...
  11. Scintilla. The Lord-Captain has hardly been seen as of late, making any number of arrangements and
  12. preparations, most notably at the Admiralty, where he has declared his findings of the lost Imperial
  13. Squadron in the Gillam System, while trying to convince the powers that be, that the vessels are best
  14. kept in the Dynasty, rather than recovered into the Battlefleet.
  15. For his own part, Lord Heinrich has stayed in order to help with the necessary preparations in every other
  16. regard... the recognition of the Claim on Faith, and the drafting of a very important document...
  17. Heinrich "But before I burden you with another complicated legal matter, my Lady, I would like you to accompany me to
  18. the Banking Vaults. A matter of some importance awaits us there", the old man seems somehow older these
  19. days.. more tired, perhaps. No doubt as a result of the concerning attacks on the Rosenkrantz family of
  20. late.
  21. Lucrezia tries to give Heinrich a friendly, if somewhat tired smile before nodding. "Certainly, Lord Heinrich.
  22. May I inquire as to what we'll be doing there?"
  23. Heinrich "It would appear as though a decision has been made 'for our own good', to freeze assets the Dynasty
  24. has been trying to move. In reality, I imagine the bankers are having their fun with the funds of a
  25. family they know to operate well outside Imperial space..." he gives Lucrezia a knowing glance,
  26. "...and therefore far enough to make any complaints unlikely or otherwise unenforceable."
  27. Lucrezia "Well, might as well enforce them while we are here, then."
  28. ResilientGM The sprawling spires of the Calixian Capital are truly awe-inspiring. The streets are full of life in
  29. every corner and every avenue, the decadence of the place apparent to any who visit.
  30. The vehicle comes to a stop in front of a grand Banking House. Several neatly uniformed guards stand watch,
  31. carefully inspecting all who enter. The chauffeur opens the wide doors for you, and Heinrich motions
  32. for the Lady to exit first.
  33. Lucrezia exits in a slow and dignified manner. She was wearing her customary uniform, although better kept than
  34. usual. She has her usual sidearm and sword in clear sight, serving as badges of office as well as
  35. protection. She looks up and around, curious about the guards.
  36. ResilientGM It doesn't take long for Heinrich and Lucrezia to notice a group of guards having an altercation with a
  37. Dynastic serf accompanying the... polluting figure of Enginseer-Prime Ziel.
  38. The young man desperately tries to communicate between the authorities and the rather difficult to communicate
  39. Master of the Enginarium. The idea is a simple one - "If he would like to enter, the Emperor-forsaken apparatus
  40. must be shut off!"
  41. Lucrezia looks at Heinrich before taking a step towards the arguing guards and dynasty representatives.
  42. "What seems to be the problem here, gentlemen?" She calmly asks before nodding at Ziel respectfully in greeting.
  43. Ziel "This is sacred smoke to the Omnissiah!"
  44. Guard "Madame, this is no concern of yours. Please stand back."
  45. Ziel "This fool denies my tribute to the our God-Emperor."
  46. ResilientGM Heinrich slowly approaches, in his usual calm step, a neutral expression on his face.
  47. Lucrezia "Ziel, incense is hard enough to breathe, concentrated carbon emotions are a little too much for the rest
  48. of us to handle. Maybe you could tone it down a little while we take care of business here?"
  49. Ziel grumbles and says "I understand, Lady Lucrezia." He deactivates his Utility Mechadendrite.
  50. Lucrezia "Thank you."
  51. Guard "Even so, without proper identification, I cannot let you in."
  52. Ziel "I do have identification."
  53. ResilientGM The guard raises an eyebrow.
  54. Lucrezia "What are you even doing here, Ziel? As for me, I come here in the capacity of a Rosenkrantz dynasty
  55. representative in company of Lord Heinrich Rosenkrantz, uncle of Lord Captain and Rogue Trader Wilhelm of
  56. the same family. This servant of the Omnissiah is a fellow representative." She tries to explain.
  57. ResilientGM Guard: "Rosenkrantz?"
  58. Ziel "I am a representative of the both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Rosenkrantz. For some of Lord's plans
  59. to go through, I need to acquire some... 'assistance' and favors from my superiors."
  60. Heinrich approaches, and reveals a small decorative pin to the guard.
  61. Guard "Apologies, my Lords... my Lady... do come in."
  62. Heinrich hands the pin to Lucrezia. It holds the sigil of the Florestal Consortium.
  63. Lucrezia nods in thanks and makes sure to pocket it. "It's been too long since I last was here."
  64. ResilientGM Almost immediately the disposition of the guards and Bank staff changes. You are greeted warmly by a neatly dressed man in the colors off the Banking house - white with a deep violet trim.
  65. "Welcome! Welcome, do come in! My name is Mikolm, I am at your ser--" Heinrich walks past him as if the
  66. man were invisible.
  67. Lucrezia smiles and shakes the man's hand. "I think he knows where he's going."
  68. ResilientGM Catching up with an awkward smile, the man in the bright suit tries to make himself relevant once more,
  69. "may I direct you to where you wish to be?"
  70. "The Rosenkrantz Vault." Heinrich calmly responds, hardly acknowledging his presence.
  71. "Oh..." the man stops, and is left behind.
  72. Touching on an almost invisible earpiece, he mutters something into the communications device.
  73. Lucrezia "I think things might get somewhat difficult." She whispers to Heinrich.
  74. ResilientGM Several guards inside begin to 'casually' walk alongside the group on the corridor Heinrich has taken.
  75. Heinrich "I rather find it a simple affair, my Lady" he says with a smile.
  76. Ziel "Simple? They wouldn't let me into this place."
  77. ResilientGM On the far end, vast double doors are slightly ajar. Three armed guards stand awaiting orders, with an ornately
  78. dressed old man standing beside them, a data slate in hand.
  79. ResilientGM The pillars on either side of the doors are decorated with Raven figures in relief. The older man, Lucrezia notices
  80. at a distance, is wearing a very similar pin to that given to her by Heinrich... with one modification.
  81. A small motif on the bottom of the pin, with the colors and sigil of House Temmerin.
  82. Lucrezia hastens her pace towards the doors at the sight of the pin. "Looks like the ghost of Temmerin is here to cause
  83. trouble." She whispers before really hurrying her pace.
  84. ResilientGM The guards tense up, as does the Temmerin operative.
  85. Lucrezia slowly presents the pin to the guards. "May we pass, we are here on business."
  86. ResilientGM "If I may introduce myself..." the man hold up a hand in front of him.
  87. Lucrezia "Of course, good sir."
  88. ResilientGM "Oswald Ulmain. I represent the interests of House Temmerin. A House which... you may have forgotten about, but
  89. I assure you it is one which you will soon be remembering," a sharp and rather disturbing smile forms on his face.
  90. Lucrezia "Ah, I see. I do remember them rather well, sadly. Which makes me wonder how you are representing them.
  91. The Florestal branch is the only one that comes to mind and well... that ended on a sour note."
  92. ResilientGM "Sour indeed. Which is why a complaint is being levied against assets banked here on Scintilla, until the matter
  93. is resolved. I trust you will cooperate to the fullest extent on this ma--"
  94. "Ten seconds."
  95. Heinrich's tone is low... and impatient.
  96. A smirk of contempt forms on half of Ulmain's face.
  97. Lucrezia "Wait, who's making the complaint?"
  98. ResilientGM "Why, the rightful heir to the Temmerin Estate on Port Florestal. Gregor Temmerin."
  99. "Five... four..."
  100. Lucrezia "Right." She rubs her temples. "Okay, I'd love to discuss this matter at length over a nice dinner.
  101. But for now, might be wise to make yourself scarce."
  102. ResilientGM Heinrich: "Gregor? Hah! Get out of my way, you worm. Until I see a signed parchment from Scintillan
  103. authorities stating otherwise, we will be proceeding about our business."
  104. ResilientGM With a wave of his hand, the guards step aside, leaving Ulmain to be pushed to one side by one of Heinrich's aides.
  105. Lucrezia politely moves him to the side. "Right, like I said, I'd like to discuss this at length on a less tense setting, see if we can sort this mess out." She then procures a business card and hands it to the man. "Name's Lucrezia, by the way."
  106. ResilientGM The inside of the vault is vast, adorned with several artifacts worth uncountable Thrones Gelt, sitting inside meter-thick glass walls along the main corridor.
  107. ResilientGM A number of bank attendants busily work through parchments and data streams, all tracking the flow of Rosenkrantz wealth coming through the bank.
  108. ResilientGM Heinrich, however, ignores all of it and reaches in for a large key which he uses to open a small door on the side.
  109. ResilientGM "Here they are, my Lady... right through this door," he turns to Lucrezia as he turns the key, a smile on his face.
  110. ResilientGM "The reason I have brought you here," the lock clicks, and the door is opened to reveal a small room with a central chest.
  111. Lucrezia blinks as she enters the room after Heinrich, smiling a little herself. "A chest within a room, within a vault, within a bank, within the sector capital... must be quite the important reason."
  112. ResilientGM "Lord Harlocke was here just a few weeks ago. He entrusted me with the information of his... deposit into our vaults." He approaches the chest mounted on the wall, and extends his open palm.
  113. ResilientGM "The pin, if you please."
  114. Lucrezia hands it over softly.
  115. ResilientGM An indenture on the center fits the end of the pin perfectly, unlocking the chest. Heinrich, however, does not open it. Instead he walks behind Lucrezia and closes the door behind them.
  116. ResilientGM "Please, open it up."
  117. Lucrezia gulps and opens the vault with great care, her hand shaking just slightly.
  118. ResilientGM Inside, two of the most beautiful pistols sit. An exquisite design, the likes of which are hardly known outside ancient and venerated relics. But their condition is clearly new, with the fresh smell of polishing acid used in the manufactorums on Sophen.
  119. ResilientGM "Harlocke-Pattern Mastercraft Repeaters, my Lady. You are looking at the only two in the galaxy. The only two that will ever be forged. Lord Harlocke is a very grateful man, indeed."
  120. Lucrezia blinks and admires them for a few moments before grabbing them with somewhat timid hands. She then pulls them out and enthusiasthically gets a better feel for them. "By the Throne, these are perfect! The balance, the details in the engraving, the grip..." She takes a few moments just making herself familiar with the pair.
  121. ResilientGM "He was very proud of these. And they've already gotten some attention. Several commissions have been issued - and denied by Harlocke" he says with a chuckle.
  122. Ziel "Impressive."
  123. Lucrezia grins and turns to Heinrich. "I really need to thank him for them when I next meet him. He really outdid himself."
  124. ResilientGM "Now, Master Ziel, won't you join us on the Autowagon? I'd rather we leave this place together before we run into any more trouble."
  125. Ziel "I believe my business with the Mechanicus will have to wait for another time. Preferably with less hostile people."
  126. ResilientGM "I am told the matter of 'control' over the Monitor Station is still... disputed?" Heinrich locks the chest back up.
  127. Ziel "Indeed."
  128. Ziel "The Magos councils want it to disappear from records and placed under their directive."
  129. Lucrezia "That's going to be difficult since it sits in the middle of our system."
  130. ResilientGM "I have complete confidence in your ability to represent the Dynasty's interests while serving those of the Red Priesthood." Heinrich makes his way out.
  131. Lucrezia follows, happily carrying her new pair of pistols.
  132. Ziel "If I can produce some results from the data we have collected thus far, they might leave it under our care."
  133. Ziel "If all else fails, I have a few favors I can pull."
  134. ResilientGM "I trust that your contacts here on Scintilla will agree to the placing of the 'figure' aboard the new vessel? She is due to appear in orbit very soon. The Breaking Yards have done remarkable work."
  135. Ziel "That particular project is going smoothly thanks to some of the artisans. It should be completed soon."
  136. ResilientGM "Excellent. Lord Caerwyn will be pleased."
  137. Ziel "Indeed though we should check on the progress."
  138. ResilientGM The group now exits the Bank House, the Autowagon still waiting outside.
  139. ResilientGM "Oh? It has not yet been placed in orbit?"
  140. ResilientGM The chauffeur opens the doors at the sight of the group.
  141. Ziel "They are readying it for launch."
  142. ResilientGM "Now, this will be exciting. I believe the Lord Chomun will be in the area. His shuttle only recently landed.
  143. ResilientGM The Autowagon follows the directions towards the planetary landing bays, where the grand structure of the construction yards piece together large parts of components to be assembled in orbit.
  144. ResilientGM "Perhaps, Master Ziel, we could permit the direction of the monitor station in exchange for... favors from the Explorator fleets. I'm certain Wilhelm wouldn't mind giving the Mechanicus control of what is theirs in the system, if we can cooperate on the way it will be used."
  145. Ziel "Perhaps... it is possible. They are also concerned of our methods at handling the precious data and equipment on-board. If I could show them we handled the data appropriately."
  146. ResilientGM The Autowagon comes to a stop some distance from the main gates; only authorized vehicles are permitted entry.
  147. Ziel "The documentation is almost complete and we should have enough concrete material to make our case."
  148. ResilientGM Heinrich opens the doors himself this time. "If you could take us to the site? I won't hold you from your duties any longer than that. You will want to board a shuttle back to the Aurorae as soon as possible, I imagine, to continue your work."
  149. Ziel "It would be my pleasure, Lord Heinrich."
  150. Ziel leads Heinrich and Lucrezia to the launch site.
  151. ResilientGM The group arrives at the Bays, as the Dynastic aides trail behind from their delayed transport.
  152.
  153.
  154. Rosenkrantz 2:
  155. ResilientGM The grand structure of the planetary landing docks is buzzing with activity. The Lord Protector has been tasked with presenting the Claim on Faith to Scintillan Authorities, and petitioning for his Pacto Militis. Only days away will he stand before a Court of noblemen to decide on all matters related to the Dynasty.
  156. ResilientGM For this purpose many of the Dynasty's operatives have been called to the Calixian Capital, including one not-so-distant relative of the Lord-Captain himself. With the discovery that the light-cruiser in repair has the capabilities to launch smallcraft, a trusted and experiences pilot and tactician will be necessary to organize its attack wings.
  157. ResilientGM And so it is that Fredrick von Rosenkrantz has been given leave to meet with his superior, the Lord Protector of the Dynasty himself.
  158. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz Inspects his nearly prestine uniform for the hundredth time, he makes his way to meet his great uncle, perfectly shined boots clacking against the ground. Any passerby can not help but notice the dignified manner in which he carries himself and his constant scowl.
  159. Makh_Chomun is standing in one of the relay-hubs that connects the docks with the rest of the planet, he is surrounded by his most trusted, and very well trained Armsman, including his personal aide Joseph Vellow. He is dressed as befits his station as the Master-at-Arms and most recently the Lord Protector, an elaborate deep blue great coat, inlaid with subtle armor pieces that sit below the fabric, with trims of gold running along the middle and sleeves. He has dress trousers to match and knee-high rider boots that fit very well with the rest of his outfit. He'd have to thank ven Dreiger for the fashion tip. A lit, half-smoked cigar is synched between his teeth as he stands to, regarding the passing crowds looking for his new arrival to meet him. A relative of his Lord Wilhelm no less!
  160. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz Makes his way to the dock, where he stands, awaiting the arrival of his Lord Uncle and other. The near permanganate scowl never leaving his face
  161. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz spots the arrival of the Lord Protector with ease. He quickly makes his way over, before stopping and taking a small now " I am Fredrick Rosenkrantz, Pleasure Sir."
  162. ResilientGM The Guards stand at attention.
  163. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz "At ease." he says, without missing beat...and remaining stone faced.
  164. Makh_Chomun picks the cigar out of his mouth and breathes a couple of smoke rings before smiling. "Welcome young Frederick! I welcome you! I hear you're to lead our air elements, well that is when we get them." He says all this as he approaches the young man and claps him on the shoulder.
  165. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz "Indeed..." he says, made uncomfortable by the gesture. "It will be a pleasure serving with you my lord." he uses the remainder of the time sprucing up his uniform
  166. ResilientGM "Ah, young Frederick!" Heinrich calls from afar.
  167. Ziel approaches the group and says "Greetings, Lord Chomun."
  168. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz / me turns sharply and snaps off a salute "Lord Hienrich, an honor sir!" he says, holding the pose
  169. Makh_Chomun turns to the new arrival. Recognizing the old, respectable Heinrich, the Lord Protector gives a small bow in greeting.
  170. ResilientGM "None of that, none of that!" he swats away as though a fly were near him.
  171. ResilientGM He steps forward and hugs the boy. It isn't that long ago that he lost his, after all.
  172. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz returns the embrace. whispering condolences and gives heartfelt sympathy
  173. ResilientGM "I am glad to see you, my boy, very glad. And Bruno? How is your father?" he holds the young lieutenant's arms and looks him in the eye.
  174. Ziel whispers to Chomun "Who is he?", preferring to Fredrick.
  175. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz "Serious as ever, but getting more lax in his years." he says. a small smile breaking across his Stoney reserve
  176. Makh_Chomun leans in whispering back, "young Frederick is Lord Wilhelm's nephew. He shall be helping to organize and train the attack craft that will compliment The Consequence."
  177. Ziel "Indeed."
  178. ResilientGM "Don't be so hard on him. The Schola Progenia has a way of making a man distance himself from his humanity."
  179. ResilientGM Heinrich backs away from Frederick now, and looks at the group.
  180. ResilientGM "We shouldn't take away any more of Master Ziel's time. He has something to show us before he parts."
  181. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz steps back and straightens his uniform, returning to his knee destroying posture.
  182. Ziel "Thank you, Lord Heinrich. Follow me."
  183. Ziel leads the group to the construction yard.
  184. ResilientGM It would be unthinkable for any non-essential personnel to be permitted in this area of the landing docks, but with a short burst of binary identifying Neue ZIel, the group is quickly permitted in.
  185. Makh_Chomun Makh continue to puff away on his stogie as he follows the group, more towards the back, allowing him and his guard to cover the back of the group.
  186. ResilientGM The doors automatically close behind them, and the deeper they travel down the wide corridor, the darker it gets... the realization that servitors needn't have any light to operate an afterthought to those within this segment.
  187. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz makes his way in his usual perfectly timed steps, accompanied by the clicking of his boots
  188. Ziel activates the skinplant's lamp.
  189. Makh_Chomun Makh motions to the honor guard to turn on their torches to give the group light.
  190. ResilientGM Still, the glow from Ziel is enough to illuminate the surroundings of the group in a low glow, and soon enough, a wide double door on one side opens up as soon as Ziel approaches. There are no lights in here, save for the flickers of servitors at work here and there.
  191. ResilientGM The little light that is there and the echoes inside, however, reveal evidence of the vast nature of the room.
  192. ResilientGM Slowly, the humming of generators becomes louder and louder.
  193. ResilientGM Light sources turn on in sequence, with loud bangs as they activate, revealing what's inside.
  194. Ziel [Techna-lingua] "Praise the Deus Mechanicus."
  195. ResilientGM An enormous statue, the size of hab structures stands before the group, adamantium and ceramite coming together to form the scholarly figure of Saint Interlocutus.
  196. Makh_Chomun A low whistle escapes Makh's cigar ladened lips. "Caerwyn's gonna go nuts, oh yeah." He laughs at that.
  197. Makh_Chomun "Great theatrics there, Ziel." He winks at the red-robed techpriest.
  198. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz "Grand." he says flatly
  199. Ziel "I am glad you are enjoying Lord Wilhelm's gift."
  200. ResilientGM Heinrich: "A gift from Wilhelm. The Consequence will be here soon enough, and the installation of the Interlocutus Statue will be the final component before..."
  201. ResilientGM "Well, before her Captain is selected."
  202. Makh_Chomun A twinkle enters Makh's eye as he comments, "I thought that had already been decided on, Lord Heinrich?"
  203. Makh_Chomun "A rather obvious choice hmmm? Though, it's sad to see she's not here."
  204. ResilientGM "Delicate legal documents must be solidified before such a thing is made known. Our enemies have eyes and ears all about, Lord Chomun."
  205. Makh_Chomun "Too true, Lord Heinrich."
  206. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz "Forgive my impatience, but when will we see the craft itself?" he asks
  207. Ziel "If you excuse me, I must make my leave."
  208. Makh_Chomun "Take care, Ziel!"
  209. Ziel "Thank you, Lord Chomun."
  210. Ziel leaves to the transport aircraft and heads back to Praeliator Aurorae.
  211. ResilientGM Heinrich reaches into his pocket, producing a small parchment, which he hands over to Frederick. "Your official reassignment orders. Note the blank sections. You are to add the names of your current attack craft crew and have it sent to your commanding officer in the Navy."
  212. Fredrick_Rosenkrantz takes it "I know just the people to bring aboard Sir."
  213. ResilientGM "Now let's get out of here before the servitors decide that a group of unescorted mortals don't belong here after all," Heinrich jokes.
  214. Makh_Chomun Makh lingers for a moment, regarding the statue one last time, before it finds it's permanent home on the hull of The Consequences. He then turns and follows the group out.
  215. ResilientGM Outside, the shuttles busily fill the skies. In one of them, the Genetor #32-603 "Josef" has arrived from orbit, in order to make preparations on behalf of Master Ziel.
  216. Josef smells the 'fresh' air.
  217. Josef "Wonderful."
  218. ResilientGM Heinrich: "Josef, is it?"
  219. Josef "Yes, Lord Heinrich."
  220. ResilientGM "Have you selected the Medicae crew who will be transferring to the Consequence?"
  221. Josef "The transfer orders have been processed and should commence immediately."
  222. ResilientGM "Very well. Have the supplies and personnel on stand-by. The Consequence is due to arrive in orbit in a matter of days."
  223. Josef "Of course, my Lord. Everything is going as smooth as possible."
  224. ResilientGM The servoskull scans Lord Heinrich up and down.
  225. Josef connects to the servoskull to combs the information from the scan.
  226. Makh_Chomun "Nice to see you out of the confines of your little medicae hovel, Mr. Josef."
  227. Josef "Likewise patient Cho... I mean Lord Chomun."
  228. ResilientGM The stream of data reveals a bionic heart of old design, a metallic replacement tibia, and a bionic eye on the aging Heinrich.
  229. Josef "Lord Heinrich, the scans reveal no changes. Your health is fine."
  230. Makh_Chomun Barks of laughter escape Chomun in puffs of cigar smoke. "Still getting used to that myself, Genetor."
  231. ResilientGM "I wasn't aware I was due for any diagnostics. Thank you."
  232. Josef disconnects from Snitches the Servo-skull familiar.
  233. Josef "No worries, Lord Heinrich"
  234. ResilientGM "Be sure to transfer samples of the creature on the monitor station, so that you may continue your work onboard the Consequence. As you know, such matters are of paramount importance."
  235. Josef "Of course, Lord Heinrich. Master Ziel has already approved for research."
  236. Josef "Though how did you convince Master Ziel to depart with his 'pet' project?"
  237. ResilientGM "Surely the investigation of such a... creature requires expertise in both the mechanical as well as the biological. He was inclined to agree."
  238. Josef "Indeed."
