- >Day Shopping in Equestria.
- >The bell hanging above the department store's door jingles as you and your family enter.
- >A clerk behind a desk smiles as you walk further into the building, red vest giving off a small sheen.
- >”Welcome. Let me know if you need any help.”
- “We will, thanks.”
- >For some reason hearing employees offer to help you always bugged you.
- >Whether it be from a human or a pony, that same hollow offer felt annoying.
- >”Come on Hope, let's see if we can't find anything here that you want.”
- >Lyra and Hope both head towards the mare's section of the store
- >Letting off a sigh, you head towards the furniture department, letting your daughter browse another store where she would find nothing of interest to her.
- >It was the weekend before she started school and she had been moping around the house for a few days.
- >If you had to guess, it would be a mixture of nerves and not wanting another hair cut.
- >She was able to continuously push it off by pulling at your heartstrings.
- >With good reason.
- >Pony's couldn't cut her hair without pulling and you lacked the skill to leave it in a way where she still looked female.
- >Lyra decided that getting a small gift might cheer Hope up.
- >So far, there's been no luck.
- >A small crash grabs your attention.
- >”Sorry mommy.”
- >Her hair had gotten so long that she was nearly blinded by it now.
- >You blame your genes for that.
- >The way her hair grew was a strange mixture of Lyra's and your own.
- >It seemed to spike a bit near the center where it wouldn't bother her eyes, but the sides drooped straight down and acted like two blinds when long enough.
- >Grimacing, you know you will have to fight with her to cut it today.
- >Letting of another sigh, you look over new furniture for the house.
- >The store had a surprisingly varied assortment of sizes available.
- >Some of the stuff looked to be large enough for Minotaurs.
- >Which may just work out well for you.
- >... Very well.
- >In front of you is a recliner, one covered in soft plush looking cushioning and it's large enough for you to practically sleep on.
- >Stepping closer, you decide to test it.
- “Oh lord...”
- >Looks aren't always deceiving.
- >This chair was made for your ass and back.
- >You MUST have it!
- >Grabbing the tag, you debate on whether this is a good deal or a rip off.
- >On one hand, it is made for the size of Minotaur's and has a price that reflects it.
- >On the other, Lyra might strangle you if you bought this without consulting her.
- >Well, not strangle... deny sex or give you -the look-.
- >Your wife wasn't a violent mare, but she had a way to get people to move how she wanted without manipulation.
- >It was a bit creepy, but strangely arousing.
- >No one mare should have all that power.
- >”Excuse me sir?”
- >The clerk from before is speaking to you, causing you to stand and cough.
- “Yes?”
- >”If you are interested in buying that chair, we are having a sale in a few days. I would recommend putting it off until then.”
- >Wow, that was surprisingly generous.
- “Er, thanks. I'll keep that in mind.”
- >The stallion nods and resumes patrolling the store.
- >Well, looks like you'll be going home with a recliner soon enough.
- >You wonder what else this place has.
- >Cocking your head, you are staring at a nice sized wooden chest.
- >It's not too expensive, comes in oak or pine, looks like something Hope would actually want to use, and is bigger than the plastic one she has at home.
- “Hmm...”
- >”Still browsing, sir?”
- >The same stallion has been helping you whenever you looked interested in something.
- >From what he's told you, he's also been trying to help Lyra and Hope.
- >With little success, but still.
- “Actually, does this come built or is assembly required.”
- >He looks at a tag glued to the side and smiles.
- >”Well, it looks like this model comes pre-built, but there is a delivery fee.”
- “What? It can't be that heavy.”
- >He steps aside and you try to lift the mid sized wooden box.
- >...
- >Okay, maybe it is that heavy.
- “Agh, how much is the delivery fee?”
- >”Not that expensive sir, just a few bits extra. Average is seven to twelve for purchases of this size.”
- >Well, it's affordable.
- “All right, can I take one of these in oak?”
- >The stallion pulls out a notepad and pen from his vest, scribbling down the product number before making his way back to the front desk.
- >”Very good sir, I'll ring it up for you when you are ready to leave.”
- >Good kid.
- >Continuing into the store, you find yourself in the -womens- section.
- >Guess it was built with other species in mind after all.
- >”Hi daddy.”
- >Looking around, you see Hope and Lyra.
- >Your daughter is smiling, eye's beaming wide.
- >Lyra walks towards you, a softer smiler than her daughter's.
- >”Well, we finally found something Hope wants.”
- “What? Really?”
- >The excited Satyr girl nods and points to a glass case.
- >Stepping forward, you peek inside it.
- >The case is filled with various jewelry and accessories.
- >Her finger seems to be pointing to a gaudy shell necklace.
- “You want a necklace?”
- >”No! Next to the necklace.”
- >She wags her finger left and you shift your gaze.
- >There are two very large hair clips inside.
- >They look to be just a bit smaller than your fists.
- >Expensive too.
- “Hope, are you sure you want these?”
- >”Uh huh! I do daddy!”
- >Rubbing your chin, you look over to Lyra.
- >”Heh, she's been here practically begging for them for five minutes. I'm pretty sure she wants them dear.”
- >Nodding you look to Hope.
- “If we get these for you, you'll have to take care of them.”
- >”I will!”
- “No, I mean really take care of them. Make sure they don't break, you don't lose them, and treat them well.”
- >”I will daddy!'
- “Promise me Hope.”
- >”Pinky promise?”
- >You smile as you extend your pinky out.
- “That's right.”
- >Lyra giggles, clearly thinking of the OTHER Pinkie promise that you two would use back in Ponyville.
- >Hope wraps her pinky around yours and you two shake.
- “Okay. They're yours then Hope. Treat them well and don't break your pinky promise.”
- >She nods and hugs you, then rushing to hug her mother.
- >As if on cue, the clerk appears.
- >”Did your daughter find something she likes?”
- “Yeah, see those two hair clips. Ring them up with the chest, please.”
- >”Right away sir.”
- >The stallion unlocks the case and grabs the clips, heading back to the front desk.
- >Lyra steps next to you, a small smirk on her face.
- >”Chest?”
- “A little thing I thought Hope could use.”
- >”Mhmm. Did you find anything for yourself?”
- “Well, there was this one recliner, but it's going on sale soon. I can think about getting it then.”
- >Your wife pulls you down and plants a soft peck on your cheek.
- >”Well, I'm sure you deserve a reward for being so patient with us aaand thinking of your daughter~”
- >Chuckling, you know where this is going.
- >You run a hand down her cheek, giving her a soft kiss before looking to Hope.
- >”Come on, we still have to go pay for everything.”
- >Your daughter nods, walking behind you and jumping on your back.
- >Placing a hand under her thighs, she wraps her hands around your neck.
- >Lyra places her hoof in your free hand as you carry your daughter to the front of the store.
- >”Are they on yet daddy?”
- “Almost, you need to stop squirming.”
- >Making a final adjustment, you let go and look your daughter's head over.
- >You think you may have figured out why she wanted them so large.
- >Every stray hair that was blinding her is now neatly fitted in on the hair clips.
- >It makes it look like Hope has two bushels of hay sticking out of the sides of her head.
- >It works though, considering some of the other hair styles you've seen.
- >Besides, she looks down right adorable with her hair as long as it is mixed with the cheek to cheek smile she has.
- >”Can you give me the mirror daddy?”
- >Handing the little girl the mirror, she looks herself over.
- >”Heh, I don't need a haircut now, do I?”
- >Lyra giggles, petting her daughter on the head with her hoof as gently as she can.
- >”No, not a hair cut. You just need a trim now.”
- >Fear sweeps over Hope's face.
- >”B-But the hair isn't in my eyes anymore.”
- “No, but it is sticking out in a few places. We'll just cut off the extra long strands so they match with the others, okay?”
- >She gulps and nods.
- >”No hair cut?”
- >Taking your daughter's hand, you lead her towards the bathroom.
- “No hair cut.”
- >Sitting her on the toiler, you grab a pair of scissors and make quick work of the out of place strands.
- >Hope quivers the entire time.
- >Smiling, you pet her head and hand her the mirror.
- “All done.”
- >She lets off a confused grunt and looks in the mirror.
- >”I still look like a girl!”
- >Lyra bursts out in laughter, heading towards the kitchen.
- “Heh, yes you do. Now come on, it's time for dinner.”
- >Hope jumps off the seat, grabbing your hand while giving you another front tooth-less smile.
- >You only pray she doesn't break her promise and keeps those expensive clips safe for a good long time.
