With a fiery conviction and a will of iron, Seigmund gathered a crew of House Loyalties, and a few of his personal acquaintances, as well as several advised men and women to form a crew. Soon the belly of The Last Word was full of munitions, supplies, and men, and...
[22:36] <@GranolaMage> ...the great ship was off to secure more fame and fortune, all in the game of the God Emperor of Mankind. This illustrious crew finds themselves in the Koronus Expanse, a place still untamed by man, for now. As a condition to acquiring this warrant, the bearer of the title must pay fealty to the God Emperor, on one of the shrines on the planet known as Fraxel.
[22:38] <@GranolaMage> Our story begins upon the ship's departure towards the edge of the system, so a warp jump can be made.
06[22:41] * Siegmund sits in his Captain's Chair in the middle of the bridge and adjusts his blast goggles.
[22:41] <Siegmund> "Somebody call ze Navigator! Ve need to plot a course to Fraxel post haste."
[22:41] <@GranolaMage> Various men and women scurry about, techpriests in a corner humming something.
[22:41] <@GranolaMage> One of them salutes you.
[22:42] <@GranolaMage> "Right away sir!"
[22:43] <@GranolaMage> The man quickly heads out to fetch the Navigator
06[22:43] * Siegmund lights a lho stick while he waits.
06[22:43] * Alessaunder walks into the room, straightening up his 18th century naval jacket, lho dangling from his lips.
[22:44] <Alessaunder> "You beckoned, sir?"
06[22:44] * Siegmund rises from his chair and waves him over to a plotting table.
[22:44] <Siegmund> "Somebody fetch ze charts!"
06[22:45] * Siegmund speaks to the bridge in general.
06[22:45] * Alessaunder walks over to the table, taking out a couple of his tools of the trade.
[22:45] <@GranolaMage> A few of the men run around looking for them, a pair run into each other. The air is tense with nervousness not to fuck up the first day on the job.

[22:48] <@GranolaMage> Eventually, a man comes in, bundles of maps in his arms. "Here you are, sir!"

[22:48] <@GranolaMage> He carefully lays them out on the table.
[22:48] <Siegmund> "Danke."
[22:48] <Alessaunder> "Much obliged."
[22:48] <@GranolaMage> The man salutes and carries on elsewhere.
06[22:49] * Siegmund admires the new uniforms the crew is wearing.
[22:49] <Siegmund> "Splendid outfits, don't you think?"
06[22:49] * Alessaunder begins to unfold the maps.  "Which planet are we heading to, sir?  Fraxel, was it?"
[22:49] <Siegmund> "Ja, ja, Fraxel."
06[22:50] * Alessaunder begins plotting a course.
06[22:50] * Siegmund stands there watching intently.
[22:52] <Alessaunder> "Hm...I can get us there in three days."
06[22:52] * Siegmund raises an eyebrow.
[22:52] <Siegmund> "Are you certain?"
[22:52] <Alessaunder> "Yes sir."
[22:52] <Coramer> "... AND PRAY TO HE WHO WATCHES OVER US ALL!  FOR IT IS ONLY BY HIS WILL THAT WE STAVE OFF THE XENO, THE HERETIC, THE MUTANT!  AND THUS SURVIVE IN THIS GALAXY!  SO GIVE HIM PRAISE *hic*" The ships missionairy stumbles into the bridge, a silver flask in one hand, his staff in another.  "FOR THE EMPEROR!"
06[22:53] * Siegmund looks up and smiles.
[22:53] <Siegmund> "Ach! Coramer!"
[22:53] <Siegmund> "Velcome to ze bridge of ze last verd!"
06[22:53] * Siegmund holds his arms out wide.
[22:54] <Alessaunder> "I do hope we....Sanctioned Mutants are included in His protection.  Or else we may be in trouble."
[22:54] <Siegmund> "I see you've found ze vet bar successfully in your quarters? I had it put there especially for you!"
06[22:54] * Alessaunder frowns, still going over the maps.
06[22:54] * Siegmund walks away from the mutant working at the plotting table.
[22:54] <Coramer> He promptly falls over.
06[22:55] * Siegmund , in one smooth motion, slips in and saves his friend from falling over.
06[22:56] * Roland laughs quietly, leans back, and returns to fiddling with the handcuffs attached to his belt.
[22:56] <Siegmund> "Tch, you must vatch your consumption freund!"
[22:56] <Coramer> "Ach, sorry... me leg's acting up.  By the way, why are ye wearing a displacement field?"
[22:56] <Siegmund> "Ve can't have you falling all over ze bridge and spilling your precious amasec!"
[22:57] <Siegmund> "Displacement field? Nein, merely swift action on the part of a freund!"
[22:57] <Siegmund> "Come, come, take a seat."
06[22:58] * Siegmund gestures to one of the advisor's chairs near the captain's chair.
06[22:58] * Hildegaard arrives on the bridge, donning her hat and smoothing her uniform.1 "First Officer Eiriksdatter reporting for duty, Sir."
06[22:58] * Siegmund waves her over when he's done seating Coramer.
[22:59] <Coramer> He raises a hand and rubs his eyes, looking to Siegmund's right as he stands, leaning on his staff. "I swear I saw two of ye..."  He shakes his head, then takes a seat.
06[22:59] * Hildegaard approaches and stands to attention.
[23:00] <Siegmund> "I see your marine training is still vith you zen! And how is your old Eirik doing these days?"
01[23:02] <Hildegaard> "He is well, sir."
[23:02] <@GranolaMage> One of the men walks up to the group, saluting briskly. "Sir! We have completed preparations for departing the System. We'll be ready for warp jump at any time."
[23:02] <Siegmund> "Vundervoll, vundervoll!"
[23:03] <Siegmund> "Relax, mein Hildegaard! Have a seat in your chair!"
06[23:03] * Siegmund points at the first officer's chair to the right of the captain's chair.
06[23:04] * Hildegaard salutes and takes a seat, shifting uneasily.1 "I wanted to thank you, sir. For this opportunity."
[23:06] <Siegmund> "Nonsense! Ze least I can do for one who is almost family!"
06[23:06] * Siegmund takes a seat in his chair.
06[23:06] * Siegmund pushes an intercom button on the arm.
[23:06] <Siegmund> "Achtung!"
[23:06] <@GranolaMage> The men look up at you, stopping what they're doing.
[23:07] <Siegmund> "All hands, prepare for varp jump in five minutes!"
06[23:07] * Alessaunder continues looking over the maps.
[23:07] <@GranolaMage> They resume their duties.
06[23:08] * Siegmund spins his chair in a circle, halting it when it faces forward once more.
[23:08] <Siegmund> "I trust you have found your quarters successfully?"
01[23:09] <Hildegaard> "Yes, sir."
06[23:09] * Siegmund is speaking to Hildegaard.
[23:10] <Siegmund> "Gut, gut."
06[23:10] * Siegmund takes a deep breath and strokes his pointy goatee.
06[23:10] * Siegmund waits for five minutes to pass.
[23:12] <Siegmund> "Ensign Sulu!"
[23:13] <Siegmund> "Prepare for varp jump!"
[23:13] <@GranolaMage> "Aye aye, Lord-Captain."
[23:13] <Siegmund> "Bring her about and follow ze navigator's instructions precisely."
[23:14] <@GranolaMage> The ship shutters as the Warp Core is activated and the Gellar field is unleashed, and the ship is plunged into the warp.
06[23:14] * Alessaunder begins calling out coordinates and other nonsense that wouldn't be understood by people without navigation skills.
[23:14] <Siegmund> "Ze navigator feels this should only take dre days.
[23:14] <Siegmund> "
06[23:15] * Roland sends a vox-message to his men to be on their toes. Roland never liked Void travel.
06[23:15] * Coramer starts away slowly, heading to leave the bridge.
[23:16] <Siegmund> "I vonder... vhere ist Klaus?"
[23:16] <Siegmund> "I've not seen him today."
[23:16] <Siegmund> "Hm, no doubt he ist counting his thrones!"
06[23:16] * Siegmund laughs heartily.
[23:17] <Coramer> And off he goes, to the ship's shrine, so he can bask in His Glory and be well away from the outter shell of the ship.
06[23:17] * Siegmund spins his chair to Hildegaard.
06[23:17] * Alessaunder goes silent, as he begins looking through the warp.
[23:17] <Siegmund> "So vhat do you think of ze crew?"
01[23:18] <Hildegaard> "I haven't yet met them, sir."
06[23:18] * Roland feels that getting away from the outer shell of the ship is a good idea, and begins picking up his paperwork and gear and heading down to the armory.
[23:19] <Siegmund> "Nein, nein, I mean ze general crew!"
06[23:19] * Siegmund gestures in a manner that would imply everyone.
06[23:19] * Hildegaard glances around.1 "Oh, of course. They seem well-disciplined, sir. Not quite Imperial Navy, but..."
06[23:20] * Siegmund arches an eyebrow over the conspicuous blast goggles on his face.
[23:21] <Siegmund> "But...?"
01[23:22] <Hildegaard> "... but, they will do just fine. Sir."
[23:22] <Siegmund> "Gut, glad you zink so."
[23:23] <Siegmund> "I vill be relying often on your advice Hildegaard! A second opinion in alvays invaluable to ze successful operation of any void-faring vessel. I'm sure you vill learn this in time!"
06[23:23] * Siegmund rises.
01[23:23] <Hildegaard> "Yes, sir."
[23:23] <Siegmund> "I vill be returning to my quarters. Summon me if anyzing is out of hand!"
06[23:24] * Siegmund turns sharply and departs the bridge.
06[23:24] * Hildegaard blinks.1 "You are... leaving me in command? Sir?"
06[23:24] * Siegmund stops.
[23:24] <Siegmund> "Ah, ja."
[23:24] <Siegmund> "First Officer Hildegaard, you have ze conn."
06[23:24] * Siegmund turns and leaves fully at that.
06[23:25] * Hildegaard pales a little, struggles to contain a smile, forces herself to be stern, and snaps a salute.1 "Yes, sir."
[23:28] <@GranolaMage> True to his word, the jump lasted 3 days. Aside from the occasional nightmare or phantom whisper, the trip was...uneventful. The ship shudders and the weapons systems automatically warm up as you exit the warp, the techpriests on board trying to soothe the machine spirit, telling it that it's not time for a fight yet. You arrive a little further from Fraxal's system than you had plotted, but...
[23:28] <@GranolaMage> ...not too far off course. It would only take a mere couple of hours more to get there.
06[23:28] * Siegmund is on the bridge when they exit.
[23:30] <Alessaunder> "Sir, my estimations were off by a couple of hours.  I apologize for any inconvenience."
[23:31] <Siegmund> "Vondervoll, vondervvoll estimates Alessaunder! A few hours may as well not matter vith ze varp. I vould have been happy with a mere week off!"
06[23:31] * Siegmund smiles broadly, despite the wretched mutant before him.
06[23:31] * Alessaunder stands up from his seat, exhausted having been on post for the past few hours.
[23:32] <Siegmund> "You may take your leave Navigator. Enjoy ze rest.
[23:32] <Alessaunder> "Much obliged, sir."
06[23:32] * Alessaunder salutes and walks off the bridge to his quarters.
06[23:33] * Siegmund waits in his seat for anything of interest to happen.
[23:33] <@GranolaMage> 4 Hours pass as your ship thrusts over to Fraxal, an emerald gem in the blackness of space.
[23:34] <@GranolaMage> You arrive, but are not hailed by anyone as the ship matches orbit.
[23:34] <Siegmund> "Curious... try contacting zem. Perhaps zey are sleeping at zeir posts."
[23:34] <@GranolaMage> "Aye aye"
[23:35] <@GranolaMage> "No response, Lord-Captain!"
[23:35] <Siegmund> "Vat time is it on ze planet? Do zey not man their voxes at all hours?"
[23:36] <@GranolaMage> "High Noon, sir."
[23:36] <Siegmund> "At ze vox-station of course, I know ze don't have ein time all over ze place."
[23:36] <Siegmund> "Ach."
[23:37] <@GranolaMage> "Augers can't confirm a vox station down there, sir."
[23:37] <@GranolaMage> "However it's high noon at the largest visible settlement."
[23:37] <Siegmund> "Nein?"
01[23:37] <Hildegaard> "What kind of backwater planet is this?"
[23:37] <Siegmund> "Ze backwater planet ve need to pray at mein Hildegaard."
[23:37] <Siegmund> "So be it."
[23:38] <Siegmund> "Prepare an avay team, assemble my senior officers."
[23:38] <@GranolaMage> "Aye aye, sir. How many men would you like to accompany you?"
[23:38] <Siegmund> "Oh, prepare a shuttle direct. If zey do not have ze courtesy to greet us, zen ve may as vell fly straight there."
[23:39] <Siegmund> "Oh, just ze senior officers."
[23:39] <Siegmund> "Vake zem up if zey're sleeping. And make sure Coramer has plenty of amasec!"
01[23:39] <Hildegaard> "Sir, is that wise?"
01[23:39] <Hildegaard> "To go alone. Sir."
[23:39] <@GranolaMage> "Yessir. Mr. Klaus has requested not to be disturbed. Should I disturb him anyway?"
[23:39] <Siegmund> "May as vell bring ze Navigator as vell, he may enjoy ze sun."

[23:40] <Siegmund> "You make a good point."
[23:40] <Siegmund> "Prepare ze red body armor and bring a few ratings down vith us."
06[23:41] * Coramer slams the end of his staff onto the deck.
[23:41] <@GranolaMage> "Yes sir. I'll assemble a fireteam, sir."
[23:41] <Siegmund> "And let Klaus sleep. Doubtless he's tired of rolling around in his trones."
[23:41] <Coramer> "You would disrespect a shrine world oh The Emperor by suggesting it hostile?"
[23:42] <Siegmund> "Meet me in ze shuttle bay in dreissig minutes..
06[23:42] * Siegmund takes Coramer around the shoulder.
[23:42] <Siegmund> "Mein freund.... zey disrespect us by not answering or greeting our hails. And if zere is indeed a problem, vat zen?"
01[23:42] <Hildegaard> "Any location is potentially hostile, Father. I am merely opting to err on the side of caution."
[23:43] <Siegmund> "If zere is no problem, ze security team vill stay on shuttle and zere vill be no harm done."
[23:43] <@GranolaMage> "Aye aye, sir!" He heads off to do as ordered.
06[23:43] * Hildegaard stands and snaps a salute.1 "I will see to the security team. Sir."6 She heads to dress for combat and ready an away team.
06[23:43] * Roland checks that his arms coffer is full and brings it with him as he sets off to the shuttle bay.
[23:44] <Coramer> He again slams his staff's end down.
[23:45] <Siegmund> "Besides, ze people zere... zey are not... ze most educated. Zey may need a little bit of motivation to let us be."
[23:46] <Siegmund> "Just relax mein freunde. Ve shall get you more amasec and it vill all be gut, ja?"
[23:47] <Coramer> "I am a priest of the Ecclesiarchy.  They would not bother us aside from questions at most."
[23:47] <Siegmund> "Ve shall see mein freunde. Erring on ze side of caution has gotten me zis far in life. If vould not do to lose it all now."
06[23:48] * Siegmund let's him go.
06[23:48] * Coramer growls and starts muttering prayers under his breath.
[23:48] <Siegmund> "However, if it bothers you so much... you are not required to come vith us. It vould sadden me greatly, zough."
[23:49] <Coramer> "I'll go, but if one of you steps out of line, I will be the first to break their face."
06[23:49] * Siegmund smiles.
[23:49] <Siegmund> "Now zat's ze Coramer I know!"
[23:50] <Siegmund> "Come now, ve leave soon!"
06[23:50] * Coramer continues with his prayers as he limps out, heading to gather his stuff.
[23:50] <Siegmund> "Whoever is ze highest rank on ze bridge right now, you have ze conn! If I find ein scratch on my ship zough, I vill /personally/ choke zem to death!"
06[23:51] * Siegmund turns and leaves to prepare.
[23:51] <@GranolaMage> The crew acknowledges, and someone mans the bridge.
[23:52] <@GranolaMage> MEANWHILE, IN THE SHUTTLEBAY
[23:53] <@GranolaMage> The shuttle, filled with Coramer, Roland, Seigmund, Hildegaard, 5 men, and Alessaunder(Who's sitting by himself), descends to the planet surface.
[23:54] <@GranolaMage> The pilot mutters something about not being able to find a Starport, and the area surrounding the largest settlement is covered in thick trees.
06[23:55] * Hildegaard checks and re-checks the loads in her bolt pistol, makes sure the draw on her sword is unimpeded by her coat, and drums her fingers restlessly on her knees with one hand, the other idly tracing the outline of the Aquila on her gorget.
[23:55] <@GranolaMage> "Sir," the pilot cranes his head, attempting to look back. "Permission to land inside the settlement? I can't find a good landing zone."
[23:55] <Siegmund> "Inside?"
[23:55] <@GranolaMage> "Yes sir."
[23:55] <Siegmund> "Very vell. Try not to squish anyzing."
[23:55] <@GranolaMage> "Of course sir."
[23:56] <@GranolaMage> The landing is slightly rough, but eventually the shuttle settles.
06[23:56] * Alessaunder fiddles with his archaeotech laspistol, idly loading and unloading it.
06[23:56] * Siegmund stands from his seat.
[23:56] <Siegmund> "Very vell."
[23:56] <@GranolaMage> The back hatch hisses as it unseals.
[23:56] <Siegmund> "I shall go first zen, unless anyvun has any objections?"
01[23:57] <Hildegaard> "Um, sir."
01[23:57] <Hildegaard> "Are you certain that is wise?"
[23:57] <Siegmund> "Ja?"
[23:57] <Siegmund> "Very vell then.
[23:57] <Siegmund> "You!"
06[23:57] * Siegmund points at one of the red-armored ratings.
[23:57] <Siegmund> "Out."
06[23:57] * Hildegaard stands.1 "The security team and myself are here to ensure your personal safety. Sir."
[23:57] <@GranolaMage> He gulps, but does as ordered, and opens the hatch.
[23:58] <Alessaunder> "Or I could go first.  Get burned alive as a mutant.  Might be a good idea too....permission to stay onboard, sir?"
[23:58] <@GranolaMage> As he does so, the shuttle is met with a hot, humid air.
06[23:58] * Hildegaard follows closely behind the rating, thumbing off the latch on her pistol's holster. She waves for the rest of the security team to follow.
06[23:58] * Siegmund adjusts his coat over his finely crafted carapace. He makes sure the helmet remains hanging from a belt loop.
[23:58] <@GranolaMage> A crowd has gathered around the shuttle.
06[23:58] * Coramer steps outside.
06[23:58] * Siegmund follows behind them.
[23:58] <@GranolaMage> Many people holding pitchforks look at you in awe.
06[23:59] * Roland follows the security team out, arms coffer in hand.
06[23:59] * Siegmund smiles.
06[23:59] * Alessaunder sighs and disembarks.
06[23:59] * Siegmund let's the security team form up before speaking.
06[23:59] * Alessaunder stays near the back of the group.
[23:59] <@GranolaMage> The team exits, keeping an eye on the crowd.
06[23:59] * Hildegaard issues a few swift commands and deploys the security team in front of the Captain, able to shield him with their bodies if necessary.
06[23:59] * Siegmund raises his hands in the air.
[23:59] <Siegmund> "People of Fraxel!"

06[00:00] * Hildegaard herself stands at Siegmund's right shoulder, hands on the hilt and butt of her sword and pistol, respectively.

[00:01] <Siegmund> ((by humble, i mean glorious))
[00:01] <@GranolaMage> One of the people in the crowd speaks up. "DAT'S A CROCK OF GROX SHIT IF I EVER 'EARD IT!"
[00:01] <@GranolaMage> Another in the front with a pitchfork looks up at you. "You'z anudda wunna da Star men ain't cha?!"
[00:01] <@GranolaMage> "You'z not gonna kill any more of us!"
[00:02] <@GranolaMage> "We'z standin' up ta ya!"
[00:02] <Coramer> "SILENCE!"  He slams his staff's end down again.  "Where is the high priest?"
[00:02] <Coramer> He makes sure his markings as a priest show.
06[00:02] * Siegmund raises an eyebrow.
[00:02] <Siegmund> "People of Fraxel, we come meaning no harm!"
[00:02] <@GranolaMage> "Dat's what ya said da first time!"
06[00:03] * Roland whispers in his comm-bead to the security team, making sure they understand to not draw unless attacked.
06[00:03] * Hildegaard tenses.1 "Ready, men. Prepare to fire on my command,"6 she murmurs to the security team, adding1 "and /only/ on my command. Fingers away from triggers, please."
[00:03] <@GranolaMage> The Sec Team nods.
[00:03] <Coramer> He turns and looks at the security team.  "If any of you fire, I will personally castrate you."
[00:03] <Siegmund> "Ve bear gifts of ze most holy god above!"
[00:04] <Siegmund> "Vhat is it you desire, people of Fraxel?"
06[00:04] * Alessaunder takes out a pack of lhos, pulls one out and lights it.  Then slips it between his lips, letting it dangle at the corner of his mouth.
[00:04] <@GranolaMage> "Leave us alone! Dat's what we want, you murderer!"
06[00:04] * Coramer starts back, stopping before Siegmund.  "Perhaps you should wait here while I find the high priest and find out what is going on?"
06[00:05] * Siegmund shakes his head at what Coramer says but doesn't look at him.
06[00:05] * Hildegaard 's face darkens.1 "Do not presume to order the Lord-Captain,"6 she growls under her breath.
[00:05] <Roland> 6 Roland's fingers begin to beat a tattoo on his arms coffer.
[00:06] <Siegmund> "Ve come meaning no harm to you! None shall die zis day."
[00:06] <@GranolaMage> One of the men in front approaches you with a pitchfork.
[00:06] <@GranolaMage> The farm tool jingles slightly as his hands shake.
06[00:07] * Hildegaard draws her pistol but does not raise it.1 "Approach no further,"6 she commands in a clear voice.

[00:07] <Coramer> He turns and moves towards the group, firmly.
[00:07] <@GranolaMage> "J-j-just g-go back whereever you came from!"
06[00:07] * Siegmund holds up a hand.
[00:07] <Siegmund> "Relax Hildegaard.
06[00:07] * Siegmund steps forward a bit.
[00:07] <Siegmund> "Kind sir."
[00:07] <@GranolaMage> He steps back, reflexively.
01[00:07] <Hildegaard> "Respectfully, sir. I will relax when he steps back and lowers his weapon."
06[00:07] * Roland steps up just behind Siegmund, at his left.
06[00:07] * Alessaunder flicks his lho and exhales a puff of smoke.
06[00:07] * Siegmund looks straight at the man with the pitch fork.
[00:08] <Siegmund> "Zink of ze vonders ve can provide you."
[00:08] <Siegmund> "If only you vould be so kind as to let us pass through. Ve mean you no harm."
[00:08] <Siegmund> "Ve can bring you ze finest tools with which to work!"
[00:08] <@GranolaMage> "No! Y-y-you killed my sister last time y-you were h-here, Star man!"
06[00:08] * Coramer shakes his head to himself and begins speaking imperial prayers.
[00:09] <@GranolaMage> You hear a commotion in the back of the crowd.
[00:09] <@GranolaMage> And you can see people parting.

[00:10] <@GranolaMage> A portly fellow, who bears the robes of the Ecclesiarch.
06[00:10] * Siegmund looks to see who it is.
06[00:10] * Coramer steps forward towards the man
[00:10] <@GranolaMage> The pitchfork man looks back at the preist
[00:11] <@GranolaMage> The priest strides confidently forward, eyeing you, and grabs the pitchfork man by the ear. "Have you no manners Lucius?! These aren't raiders like last time!"
06[00:11] * Siegmund smiles.
[00:11] <Coramer> "It is good to finally see you, Brother.  You'll have to pardon our intrusion, but the Lord-Captain of our ship is suppose to pray here at the shrine."
06[00:11] * Siegmund turns and looks at Coramer.
06[00:12] * Siegmund holds the smile, and then turns back to the priest.
[00:12] <@GranolaMage> The priest turns to your group. "I apologize for Lucius. He's been antsy for 2 years now. I'm Father Dominic, and I would be honoured to lead you to the shrine."
06[00:13] * Siegmund waves the security team aside and steps forward.
[00:13] <@GranolaMage> "But first..."
[00:13] <Siegmund> "A pleasure to meet you, vater Dominic."
[00:13] <Siegmund> "Ja?"
[00:13] <Coramer> "Father Coramer."  He bows a little.  "This is Lord-Captain Siegmund of the Last Word and the senior officers."
[00:14] <@GranolaMage> He turns to the croud. "My children! These are not the raiders that we so loathe, that whom the God Emperor himself so despises!"
06[00:14] * Siegmund turns to look at Coramer again, smile intensifying to terrifying proportions before returning to look at Father Dominic.
06[00:14] * Hildegaard reluctantly holsters her pistol, and arranges the security team in protective positions to the front and rear of Siegmund, with her remaining at his right side.
[00:14] <@GranolaMage> He looks back. "Siegmund? As in Alfred's son?"
[00:15] <Siegmund> "Ja. Alfred of House Mordechai. You know him?"
[00:16] <@GranolaMage> "Of course! I was here when he visited! It's a wonder what the church will supply one with in order to prevent sending someone else to lead these people."
[00:16] <Siegmund> "Ach! This is gut! Very gut!"
[00:16] <@GranolaMage> "Of course I was much younger then..."
06[00:17] * Siegmund shakes his head.
[00:17] <@GranolaMage> He laughs, belly shaking.
[00:17] <@GranolaMage> The crowd disperses, some pissed, most relieved.
[00:17] <Siegmund> "Nonsense! You don't look a day over vierzig!"
[00:17] <@GranolaMage> "Well, medicae will do that."
[00:18] <@GranolaMage> "But come! Come! Don't let me keep you in this dreadful heat."
06[00:18] * Siegmund nods.
[00:18] <Siegmund> "Hildegaard, Coramer, Roland, Alessaunder, vith me. Ze rest of you, stay vith ze shuttle."
01[00:19] <Hildegaard> "Aye aye, sir."
06[00:19] * Alessaunder nods, with the lho still between his lips.
[00:19] <@GranolaMage> The Sec Team nods as Dominic leads you to the center of the city, which happens to be a massive cathedral.
[00:20] <@GranolaMage> Stone gargoyles and statues of the Emperor and his Angels of Death shine in the sun, a little worn from the passage of time.
06[00:20] * Siegmund looks up from time to time at it as he follows.
06[00:21] * Hildegaard stays alert, far from trusting of these savages and wary of the threat they pose to her Lord-Captain, Shrine world or no.
[00:22] <@GranolaMage> Massive metal doors are pulled open by some men in Ecclesiarch robes as Dominic ushers you inside.
[00:23] <@GranolaMage> "Now, Lord-Captain was it? Lord-Captain Siegmund, if you're here like what I remember of your father's visit, you're here to pray."
[00:23] <@GranolaMage> "And..."
[00:23] <@GranolaMage> He wrings his hands as he hesitates.
06[00:23] * Siegmund raises an eyebrow.
[00:23] <@GranolaMage> "Might I ask of you a favour?"
[00:24] <Siegmund> "You may ask, but I cannot guarantee it vill be done."
[00:25] <@GranolaMage> He nods. "We've had a problem, raiders have been attacking this settlement for...oh...I can't even remember how long. We're not equipped to deal with them."
[00:25] <@GranolaMage> "The only reason I dare ask is..."
[00:25] <@GranolaMage> "The man leading them..."
[00:25] <@GranolaMage> "He...he was a member of your father's crew."
[00:26] <Siegmund> "Ah. Zen zey are human raiders, ja?"
[00:26] <@GranolaMage> "Most of them."
[00:26] <@GranolaMage> "Some are mutants."
[00:26] <Siegmund> "Most?"
06[00:26] * Coramer growls.
06[00:26] * Siegmund sneers.
06[00:26] * Alessaunder remains unphased.
[00:26] <Siegmund> "Say no more Vater Dominic."
[00:26] <Coramer> "Heretics!  To defile a shrine world with raiding!"
[00:27] <Siegmund> "Calm yourself Coramer."
01[00:27] <Hildegaard> "If I may, Lord-Captain."
[00:27] <Siegmund> "Ja, mein Hildegaard?"
06[00:28] * Hildegaard bows from the waist respectfully to Father Dominic.1 "Honoured Father. What can you tell us of the raiders? How are they equipped? How many are there? How do they make their attack - from orbit, or from land? When and from where are the attacks most frequent?"
[00:28] <Coramer> "Siegmund... could I have someone head to the ship and bring me my gear?  I want to be prepared if they happen to arrive during our stay.  Of course, it's your call and all."
06[00:29] * Siegmund smiles.
[00:29] <@GranolaMage> "They attack every year or so, sometimes on land, sometimes from the sky. They have weapons that...I believe you call them Lasguns."
06[00:30] * Roland snorts.
[00:30] <@GranolaMage> "It's far too much for our people to defend against, and even when we post sentries, they somehow know and use one of those sky crafts to land outside the Cathedral."
[00:31] <Siegmund> "I see. Ve shall have to find a vay to deliver an auspex to your settlement to warn of future attacks. Ven was the last time zey attacked?"
[00:32] <Alessaunder> "...Do you think these people are capable of using an auspex, sir?"
06[00:32] * Hildegaard nods.1 "And numbers, Father? When they attack, do they do so in great numbers, or smaller raiding parties?"
[00:32] <@GranolaMage> "Last year. They should be stocking up for another attack any day now."
[00:32] <@GranolaMage> "Small, a mere handful."
[00:32] <Alessaunder> "I mean no offense, of course....but an auspex is a fairly complicated piece of equipment."
[00:33] <Coramer> His lips turn up in a cruel smile.  "They will die for their Heresy."
[00:34] <Siegmund> "Nonsense Allesaunder! Ve can surely space a few specialists to operate it, and zey can train further. It is not a complicated task. Vater, ve vill prepare to aid you in your defense. If zey are as few as you claim, zey should be no match for ze firepower ve can bring to bear."
01[00:34] <Hildegaard> "Thank you, Father. You have been most helpful."
06[00:34] * Hildegaard turns back to Siegmund.
[00:34] <@GranolaMage> Dominic breaks into a grin. "Bless you! May the God-Emperor bless you all!"
01[00:36] <Hildegaard> "Lord-Captain. If we are to make a proper defense we shall require additional reinforcements from the ship, heavy weapons, ammunition, supplies..."6 She begins ticking items off her fingers.1 "We will additionally need to run the sava- err, 'locals' through basic drills, reinforce this position with bulkwarks, walls, bunkers..."
[00:36] <Alessaunder> "Sounds like it'll take a lot of time."
06[00:37] * Hildegaard shakes her head.1 "No. Merely coordination."
[00:37] <Coramer> "Bring me my sword!  I shall rend them limb from limb!"
06[00:37] * Alessaunder adjusts his holstered pistol.
[00:37] <Siegmund> "Relax mein Hildegaard. It vill be taken care of. Our own ratings should be more zan sufficient for a small band of raiders. Should time prove available, zen ve vill go about training ze locals."
[00:37] <Siegmund> "Roland, return to ze shuttle, let zem know to send reinforcements and equipment for a defense of a settlement of..."
[00:38] <@GranolaMage> You hear a commotion outside.
[00:38] <Siegmund> "Vater Dominic, how many people are here?"
[00:38] <Siegmund> "Oh drats."
[00:38] <@GranolaMage> Suddenly you hear the cracking of Lasfire and screaming
[00:38] <Alessaunder> "Could just hand them a crate of lasguns.  Throw them at the raiders.  Like a pdf -"
06[00:38] * Coramer turns and heads out, gripping his staff.  "So be it, my staff will have to do."
06[00:38] * Alessaunder draws his pistol.
06[00:38] * Roland is already rushing to the door, breaking out his longlas and voxing the security team.
06[00:38] * Siegmund sighs.
06[00:39] * Coramer isn't running due to leg.
[00:39] <Siegmund> "So be it. If zey shall not wait, zen ve shall deliver them to their deaths.
06[00:39] * Hildegaard unholsters her pistol and draws her blade.1 "Lord-Captain. I beg you, remain within the cathedral."
[00:39] <@GranolaMage> The men open the metal doors, as scared civilians pour through the doors.
[00:39] <Coramer> "OPEN THE DOORS AND LET THEM FEEL THE FURY OF THE GOD EMPEROR'S SERVANTS!"
[00:39] <Alessaunder> "Perhaps I should stay in here too then..."
[00:39] <Alessaunder> "Just in case."
[00:39] <Siegmund> "Nonsense Hildegaard! I've dueled more than a few ruffians in my time."
[00:40] <@GranolaMage> Outside you can see your Sec team is in a firefight with an unseen force in the forests.
06[00:40] * Siegmund draws a large, shiny revolver from his coat.
06[00:41] * Siegmund takes from his pocket a small cartridge and straps it to the pistol.
01[00:41] <Hildegaard> "Lord-Captain."6 She takes a breath and draws herself up to her full height.1 "With respect. Sir. I cannot in good faith allow you to needlessly endanger yourself, on account of these sava-"6 she catches herself.1 "... on /any/ account. Please, sir. Remain here, and allow Roland, the security team and myself to handle the raiders."
[00:42] <Siegmund> "Noted Hildegaard. I'm coming vith you anyway."
06[00:43] * Coramer is already heading for the forest.
06[00:43] * Hildegaard sighs.1 "Yes, sir."6 She moves toward the doors, making sure to stay in front of Siegmund.
[00:43] <Alessaunder> "Um....what about me?"
06[00:43] * Siegmund follows at a mellow pace, pistol at the ready.
[00:43] <Coramer> "COME HERETICS, I SHALL BE YOUR DOOM!  YOU SHALL FACE JUDGEMENT BEFORE HIM!"
[00:43] <Siegmund> "Navigator, perhaps it is best if you vait in ze shuttle."
06[00:43] * Alessaunder holds up his flintlock-looking laspistol.
01[00:44] <Hildegaard> "Remain within the cathedral, Master Alessaunder. It appears to be fortified."
[00:44] <Alessaunder> "Very well then."
[00:44] <Siegmund> "Nein, listen to Hildegaard."
[00:44] <Siegmund> "She makes a good suggestion."
[00:44] <Alessaunder> "I can give some covering fire from here...this thing as pretty deceptive range."
[00:45] <@GranolaMage> A lasbolt flies past Coramer's head, scorching the metal doors.
06[00:45] * Roland shouts to the rest in the cathedral. 1"Sec team's pinned, don't know where the raiders are."
06[00:46] * Siegmund continues following Hildegaard, wherever she's going.
06[00:46] * Hildegaard stays low and tries to find cover outside the cathedral.
06[00:46] * Siegmund makes a point of putting on his helmet though.
06[00:48] * Roland pushes his way through the crowd and heads towards the sec team.
[00:49] <Alessaunder> "....I'll take it, yes to covering fire."
06[00:49] * Alessaunder moves to the door, and takes cover behind it.
06[00:51] * Coramer continues his limping charge towards the forest.
06[00:51] * Hildegaard , seeing there is no cover between the cathedral and the shuttle, instead sprints towards the shuttle.
[00:52] <Alessaunder> "...Never mind.  I'll just run for the shuttle.  Finally get to use this damned thing."
06[00:57] * Siegmund conveniently ducks his head while running for some reason.
[00:57] <@GranolaMage> Which causes Siegmund to dodge a lasbolt that was coming at his head.
06[00:57] * Siegmund fastens his helmet in the mean time.
06[00:58] * Roland runs towards the shuttle at his top speed.
06[01:00] * Alessaunder runs from behind the cover of the metal door straight for the shuttle.
[01:04] <Coramer> "HERETICS!  YOU WILL FALL BEFORE HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!"
06[01:04] * Hildegaard sprints towards the shuttle.1 "Lord-Captain, please keep your head down!"
06[01:04] * Alessaunder looks back at the shambling Coramer, and tries to keep back a laugh.
06[01:05] * Siegmund follow Hildegaard, obviously not as good at running as she.
[01:07] <@GranolaMage> In perhaps a show of irony, a lasbolt cracks out, smacking Alessaunder square in the chest as he snickers.
[01:10] <@GranolaMage> More lasbolts crack out of the forrest, keeping the Sec Team pinned.
[01:10] <@GranolaMage> Another Lasbolt soars past Siegmund's head.
[01:13] <Siegmund> "Get zose ratings firing Roland!"
06[01:13] * Roland continues running to the shuttle, slams into the shuttle beside the sec team, and shouts at them to point out where the shots are coming from.
[01:14] <@GranolaMage> One of the men tries to point at the trees, not wanting his hand to get shot off.
06[01:15] * Alessaunder sprints as fast as he can to take cover behind the shuttle.
06[01:15] * Alessaunder ignoring the fairly grievous wound.
06[01:17] * Siegmund continues running towards the shuttle, thinking about how fast these youngsters really are.
06[01:18] * Hildegaard continues to run, finally reaching the shuttle and taking cover behind it, only breathing slightly quicker. She sheathes her sword and holds her pistol in both hands as she takes stock of the situation.
[01:19] <Alessaunder> "From the heat into the fire, eh?"
[01:20] <@GranolaMage> Your Sec Team blindly fires into the trees, unable to find a target.
[01:21] <@GranolaMage> From the forest, you hear a loud "OH FETH!" before a small explosion occurs, destroying a tree in the process.
[01:21] <Coramer> "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!  AIM YOU FOOLS!  DO YOU NOT SEE THE HERETICS?  THEIR FILTH IS LIKE A DARK SMEAR UPON THIS WORLD!"
[01:21] <@GranolaMage> The lasfire continues, as inaccurate as ever.
[01:22] <@GranolaMage> And yet another lasbolt whizzes by Siegmund's head.
06[01:26] * Roland bellows at the sec team. 1"Contacts! In the treetops. One off to the side. Suppress!" 6Roland then aims and fires at the one off to the side.
06[01:30] * Roland lands beam on the left leg of the one off to the side, in the tree.
[01:30] <@GranolaMage> The shot tears through the man's armour, but seemingly not effecting him too much.
06[01:35] * Alessaunder peeks out quickly, readies his pistol, and fires a quick burst of las in the direction of one of the men.
[01:35] <@GranolaMage> The shot hit the man in the arm and chest, killing him before he hits the ground.
[01:35] <@GranolaMage> Coramer hobbles to victory.
06[01:38] * Hildegaard snaps off a pair of shots into the trees, but fails to find her mark.
06[01:39] * Siegmund runs the rest of the way to the shuttle to rejoin the group
[01:39] <Alessaunder> "Maybe we should trade guns."
06[01:39] * Alessaunder chuckles.
[01:40] <@GranolaMage> ,roll 4#1d100
[01:40] <Siegmund> "Shoot zem you dogs!"
[01:41] <@GranolaMage> The men take shots into the trees, and you hear a scream from inside them followed by a loud thump.
[01:42] <Siegmund> "Good shooting! Keep zat up and zey'll be running vith zeir tails betveen zeir legs!"
[01:45] <@GranolaMage> The lasbolt fires, trying to rob Coramer of his good leg. But the will of the Emperor (Back by a rosarius) merely turned the lasbolt into a less harmful light.
[01:46] <Coramer> He hobbles on, staring a lasbolt heading for him dead on, daring it to try to hurt him.
[01:46] <@GranolaMage> Another bolt fires, striking the shuttle, trying to hit Siegmund.
[01:47] <Coramer> "HERETIC FILTH!  THE EMPEROR PROTECTS HIS SERVANTS!"
06[01:49] * Roland shouts at the sec team once more. 1"Suppress! Keep their heads down!" 6 Roland then aims and fires once more at the man off to the side.
[01:49] <@GranolaMage> Roland's bolt hits the Raider in the same spot, being as effective as last time.
06[01:52] * Alessaunder fires another burst into the chest of one of the tree-top raiders.
[01:52] <@GranolaMage> The raider howls in pain and falls to the forest floor.
[01:52] <@GranolaMage> Coramer hobbles along, defiantly.
[01:52] <Siegmund> "Gut! Slaughter ze dogs!"
06[01:52] * Alessaunder smiles wickedly.
[01:53] <Alessaunder> "Are you going to let your navigator get more kills then you?!  Come on men!"
06[01:54] * Hildegaard fires off another pair of shots, once again to no avail.
06[01:56] * Siegmund peeks out and squeezes off a shot at the last raider.
[01:57] <@GranolaMage> Siegmund's shot tears through the man's arm, and he falls to the forest floor, dying on impact.
[01:58] <@GranolaMage> Coramer continues hobbling.
06[01:58] * Siegmund holsters his pistol stylishly.
[01:58] <Siegmund> "Well then."
[01:58] <Siegmund> "Zat vas exciting."
[01:58] <Siegmund> "Troopers, secure ze raiders. Police zeir veapons and tally zeir dead."
[01:59] <Siegmund> "Bring any survivors to me."
[01:59] <Alessaunder> "Hmph.  I should've been in the military."
06[01:59] * Alessaunder laughs.
01[01:59] <Hildegaard> "Yes, sir."6 She moves forward to do as ordered, following the ratings.
[01:59] <@GranolaMage> The Sec Team goes to do that.
[01:59] <Siegmund> "
[01:59] <Siegmund> "Not you main Hildegaard. First Officers have better zings to be doing."

[02:00] <@GranolaMage> They drag out 4 dead men, complete with lasguns, and come back with one live one, supporting him on their shoulders.
[02:00] <@GranolaMage> The live one is horribly burnt, and has bits of shrapnel in his chest and arms.
[02:00] <Siegmund> "Give zeir veapons to Vater Dominic, he vill decide what to do vith zem."
[02:00] <@GranolaMage> His fingers are gone.
06[02:00] * Siegmund walks over to the one who isn't dead.
06[02:00] * Siegmund kneels by him, out of arms reach.
[02:01] <@GranolaMage> He looks up at you wearily.
06[02:01] * Hildegaard stops.1 "Yes, sir."
06[02:01] * Alessaunder twirls his laspistol before holstering it.  And lights up another lho, noticing his current one is all but extinguished.
06[02:01] * Coramer hobbles up behind Siegmund.
[02:01] <@GranolaMage> "Y-yer not a...local..."
06[02:01] * Siegmund lights a lho while he looks.
[02:01] <@GranolaMage> He coughs up some blood.
[02:01] <Siegmund> "Nein. Nor are you it vould seem."
[02:02] <Coramer> "Where are the rest of you Heretics?!"
[02:02] <@GranolaMage> "Damn right..."
[02:02] <Siegmund> "Tell me... is your leader amongst you?"
[02:02] <@GranolaMage> "I...I be the leader of...of dis group..."
06[02:02] * Hildegaard stands somewhat awkwardly behind Siegmund.
[02:02] <@GranolaMage> His sentence is punctuated by a hacking cough.
[02:03] <Siegmund> "Really? And did you vunce know a man named Alfred Mordechai?"
[02:03] <@GranolaMage> "Heh...no...but....but MY leader...he talks about him...aaaaaaall the time."
[02:03] <Siegmund> "And vere is this leader of yours?"
06[02:04] * Siegmund puffs the lho.
[02:04] <@GranolaMage> He attempts to point up, but lets his arm fall when he realized he doesn't have any fingers left.
06[02:04] * Siegmund raises an eyebrow and smiles.
[02:04] <@GranolaMage> "He be here...any hour now..."
[02:04] <Siegmund> "Vith how many more?"
[02:05] <@GranolaMage> "A ship full. Heh heh heh...you...you won't survive if ya stick around here."
[02:05] <@GranolaMage> "Cap'n will see ta that..."
[02:06] <Siegmund> "A ship you say?"
[02:06] <@GranolaMage> "Aye..."
06[02:06] * Siegmund puffs the lho again.
[02:06] <Siegmund> "How big are ve talking?"
06[02:07] * Roland moves over to Aless and begins treating the wound.
[02:07] <@GranolaMage> "I'm not one ta judge a ship, lad..."
06[02:07] * Coramer walks around the man.
[02:07] <@GranolaMage> He coughs again.
[02:08] <Alessaunder> "Damn...can't remember the last time I got hit with one of those."
06[02:08] * Alessaunder grunts.
[02:08] <Siegmund> "Very vell."
06[02:08] * Siegmund stands and draws his pistol from earlier, and puts another bullet into it.
[02:08] <@GranolaMage> "I'll...I'll see ya in hell soon enough laddy...
[02:08] <Siegmund> "You shall be seeing him very shortly. Tell him, Alfred's son sens his regards."
[02:08] <@GranolaMage> He coughs and closes his eyes, flinching.
06[02:08] * Siegmund waits a moment and smiles.
06[02:09] * Siegmund puts the pistol back.
[02:09] <Siegmund> "Give him to Dominic."
[02:09] <Siegmund> "Ze locals vill vant zeir revenge."
[02:09] <Coramer> "You are cruel."
[02:09] <Coramer> "It is doubtful he'll live long though."
[02:09] <Siegmund> "Roland, patch him up enough. Zis man must live long enough to see zem."
[02:10] <Siegmund> "Ze rest of you, to ze shuttle. Ve should prepare for battle."
06[02:10] * Roland nods, and begins bandaging the wounded man. He pauses for just a moment to ask the man something. 1"Out of curiosity, what exploded?"
[02:10] <Alessaunder> "Permission to stay on board The Last Word?"
[02:10] <@GranolaMage> He laughs, hacking up blood.
[02:10] <@GranolaMage> "Me gun."
[02:11] <Coramer> He grumbles to himself.  "Should break his legs..."
[02:11] <Siegmund> "Allesaunder, zat vould only be natural. Ve're preparing for ship-to-ship combat."
[02:11] <@GranolaMage> Which happened to be his last words, since Roland fucked up and accidentally poked something he shouldn'tve.
[02:12] <Siegmund> "Hm. A pity. Leave his body."
06[02:12] * Siegmund climbs aboard the shuttle.
06[02:12] * Alessaunder steps into the shuttle and sits near the back.
[02:13] <Alessaunder> "Damn it all....how long will it take to get this damned las burn out of my suit?"
06[02:13] * Roland bellows at the sec team to board the shuttle.
06[02:13] * Hildegaard climbs aboard the shuttle and straps herself in,
[02:13] <Siegmund> "Ve'll send it to ze cleaners, Navigator. It is easily fixed."
[02:13] <@GranolaMage> The Security team finishes up giving the guns and gear to the locals, quickly climbing aboard the shuttle.
