Backstory: Mingzhu was born and raised in Shanghai, China. Growing up with successful parents, she was always expected to have a brighter future and to be more like her mother - someone who would be infuential in the fashion industry. Despite her parents assurance that she can be whatever she wants to be, the pressure of being successful and following the steps had never fully gone away. However, her older cousin had always been there to convice her otherwise - and the cousins had became much closer than they were before.

Mingzhu was 3 years old when she started going to different classes of gymnastics, Chinese dance and Shaolin wushu. It was hard at first, especially for a child like her, but as the days passed by, she grew into a routine and everything became less difficult. She had done those three mentioned activities for 12 years.

Mingzhu was 15 years old when their family had decided to go to South Korea for a vacation. It was during that trip when she was scouted by JYP Entertainment. Her parents agreed that she should audition and she was shocked when she was accepted. It was hard but her parents had given their consent to let Mingzhu be part of JYP Entertainment and live within their dorms.

Initially, Mingzhu audtioned and was accepted in JYP Entertainment as an actress. She had made friends with her fellow trainees but she had particularly formed a bond with Wang Ka Yee (Jackson as he is more popularly known) and she did not expect to become close with Miss A's Suzy who was also an actress. Her training years at JYP Entertainment were fun, she had friends and everyone is like a family.

However, in the late 2013, Mingzhu was included in the trainee exchange program and she was then transferred to SM Entertainment. She had noted that the atmosphere in SM is quite different from JYP's. She was originally a trainee to become an actress but f(x)'s Victoria had found potential in her to be an idol and SM had her trained to become an idol under Victoria's tutelage. For Mingzhu, it was like a dream a come true. Victoria is one of her idols (aside from BoA) and being taught by her is something else entirely. Like with JYP, Mingzhu had found friends and even her 'children'. However, she still keeps contact with her friends in JYP.


Personality: Mingzhu is often commented to be a faery - an offspring of an angel and a devil because of her personality.

Mingzhu is very patient - to the extent that she can remain her composure even when dealing with difficult situations and difficult people. She can deal with any childish people and will somehow be able to hold them together. Although very patient, not everyone has patience like hers so she tends to reprimand her members if they are being too much for others to handle. Despite being patient, there are boundaries that should never cross or else, her patience will be long gone. She is also quite charismatic - something about her just pulls people towards her. She has her way with the crowd, to the extent that even when not doing anything, others seem to notice her. When she talks, she does not need to raise her voice for people always seem to be listening to her. That aside, she possess great communication skills. She knows how phrase words in a way that makes it easier for others to understand yet without offending them as well as phrasing them in a way that would make others agree to her.

Mingzhu is a very trustworthy person and she'll do what she is asked of (of course, nothing illegal) and she always prepapres things that her members forgot, constantly reminding them of their schedules and keeping tabs on their activities. She can be your shoulder to cry on or to lean to, she will listen to all of your problems and will keep your secret safe and sound. She is also brutally honest - to the extent that she does not  want to lie. However, she has a talent for wordplays. If she thinks that the entirety  of the truth is too hurtful, she would filter them but she will not leave the important things out.

Mingzhu is very much affectionate and is good at expressing herself (except for her troubles). She often greet people who she is close to with a hug and kiss. She makes it a habit to kiss her members either on the cheek or on their forehead or head and giving them a hug before sending them off to their own individual schedules with words of affection like 'Love you!' or something like that. She usually made tiny gestures - such as patting the cheeks or hands or head or shoulder of a person - and a few words of encouragement. She is very considerate and keeps in mind  the others' feelings before deciding. Actually, she consults everyone first (individually and as group) about their thoughts on a certain issue or problem before making a decision. Also, when she goes out to buy something for herself, she ends up buying things for the entire group. She does not favor one over the other and in her mind, if one would get something, the rest should too.

However, Mingzhu is quite forgetful to a fault and to the extent that many people can comment that she is quite idiotic or stupid. It does not matter though for she absolutely takes advantage of this situation. Also, she tends to be quite silly almost all the time. She is also prone to get jealous easily, very easily. Although it may seem like that she is not jealous, certain habits of hers surface whenever she is feeling jealous. And sometimes, it gets bad to the point that she has a 'jealousy rage', which is quite bad.

Mingzhu thinks that she is being selfless by always putting others before her especially if they are her family, friends or is close to her, to the extent that she forgets about herself, she is being selfish. Of course, she has this tendency to be a martyr - sacrificing what is for her for others if it will make them happier even if it hurts her. She is so focused on the needs and wants of those people she cares for that sometimes, she does not know that she is unconciously hurting them by not caring for herself. She quite sensitive - too sensitive that she takes criticisms a little too much to heart. Her sensitivity to others, she sometimes feels like others' problems (her groupmates, friends, family) are her own and will try to fix things that she cannot fix and would worry again and again if she is doing enough to help lightening/fixing the problems of others.

Mingzhu may not seem like it, be she is very manipulative, very, very manipulative. She likes to take advantage of situations especially with her being 'idiotic' and always plans ahead of others - like three to five steps ahead of them. She is very careful and detailed in weaving her plans into motions and it is almost impossible to say that she is being manipulative. She is really passionate in doing the things she loves, to the point that she is very determined and she will do whatever it takes to accomplish a certain  goal (especially if it involves her likes). However, the downside is that, it takes a long time before you could make her see the logical side of things.

Mingzhu is a perfectionist. She likes to do things perfectly even in the simplest and silliest of things. In line with this, she has an obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). When cleaning, if she spots even the slightest speck of dust, she would clean the entire area again just to make sure that the area would be spotless. During dance practice, she would start from top even if she made a simple wrong step in the end of the choreography. Also, the dance positions, she wants it perfect. She likes things to be organized and if she sees a thing out of place, she would immediately fix it. There are times that she would go out of her way to fix the collars or something of her members or others because her OCD tendencies. She is keen about her surroundings and the people around her - especially if they important to her. Though she would not say anything about it, she prefers to quietly observe them from the side (even if that sounds creepy and makes her a stalker; she is not one!). She most particularly take notes of their habits and the emotions of their eyes.

Mingzhu is very, very competitive even in the simplest and silliest of things. An example is that if she sees her labelmates performing well, she wants to perform better than they are. However, when it comes to sports activities and things involving actual competitions, her competitive side truly comes out. She would do her best to win and would be bummed iut about losing for a while but will take a look at it as lesson. She is quite loyal to a fault that it could be said that this is her fatal flaw. She is loyal to her group, her members, her friends and her family. Thus, she will do anything to support them and be there for them whether they like it or not. She will never give up on them nor will she exchange them for anything else. This also means that she is protective of them.

Mingzhu has a flair for dramatics, often times she can react exaggerately especially when it concerns her members and her friends. Although, sometimes she can be quite funny because seeing her over react makes her appear crazy. She knows how to masks her feelings and her thoughts. When people say that she is an open book because she is an idiot, what they see is the mask or a persona that she had created in order to protect her thoughts, her feelings and herself.

Love interest personality: Jaehyun is definitely – most definitely – can be said as the perfect boyfriend material. Tall, handsome, and sweet – who would not want to be his girlfriend, right? No doubt, Jaehyun is the dream man of many girls. According to his fans, he is the type who would give them a wink as an acknowledgment and waves to them whenever he sees them. In short, Jaehyun is nice and sweet even towards his fans.
In actual reality, that is not far from his personality. He is a real gentleman – he really has high respect for woman whether they may be older or younger than he is. He is nice and has this tendency to drop whatever he is doing if it means he can help anyone who is need especially if they are elders and woman. He is the type who would never raise his voice (unless it was acting) and he cannot stand seeing anyone hurt (physically or emotionally). Therefore, he does whatever he can to lend a hand to them.

He is also very sweet – he has this tendency to do even the simple sweet gestures towards his fans such as winking, waving at them or even blowing a kiss. He is also the type who would ‘short yet sweet messages’ towards his love ones reminding them of how much he misses them and how much he cherishes them and whenever they’re feeling down or upset, he would construct a novel to tell them that everything will be okay and that no matter what happens he will always be there for them (maybe not physically but in spirit). Jaehyun is very cheerful and friendly. He is like a ball of sunshine inside the room – always laughing, always smiling and always finding a way to make people smile. He is very welcoming and would be the first person who would make you feel welcome when you’re surrounded by celebrities like him and by strangers. In line with this, he is quite playful. He does not mind going along with the antics of the people he is with and he can even go as far as pretending to be in love with his members - especially with Taeyong and Taeil - if that makes people happy. This also means that he can be quite mischievous and would cause mischief along with some members of NCT. They would do simple and harmless tricks towards their friends but at the end of the day, they would treat those people they’ve done tricks to as a peace-offering.

He can be quite paternal without knowing it. This is evident when he is surrounded by kids and by the younger members of NCT – witnesses say that he treats them (the kids and his younger members of NCT) as if they were his own. The hyung line of NCT usually teases him that he had too many children already and he is not even married yet. Jaehyun would jokingly reply that his future wife would just have to deal with his too many to name children.

The thing about Jaehyun though, he is very – very, very – possessive and can be quite melodramatic and such a drama queen – or king – as wel. He dislikes it when people touch his stuff without his permission and does not like to share. Being possessive it also means that he is quite protective and a jealous person, a – very, very – jealous person. He is also very sensitive and is quite fragile.

Despite his gentleness, sweetness, kindness and every positive thing about him, a jealous Jaehyun is a dangerous Jaehyun, a dangerous Jaehyun is a demon Jaehyun and a koala Jaehyun. He has this tendency to cling to his beloved whenever feeling jealous and be more affectionate (even in public).

And yes, he can be that terrible but only when his patience runs out, his jealousy is still growing at the same time and a certain someone is not doing damage control. He has this tendency to exaggerate things, let his imagination run wild and jump into conclusions easily without supporting facts.

So, it is not uncommon to see Jaehyun pacing back and forth (as if he is trying to create friction) while muttering intelligible things under his breath before stopping altogether, going down on his knees and proclaiming something ridiculous and breaking down into tears. Yup, that is quite normal for those who knew him, especially to the members of NCT.


How you act around him: Aroud him, Mingzhu acts the same as she usually does and treat him the way she would treat a sunbae. She also sometimes treat him like a child.

How he acts around you: Around her, he acts the same but much friendlier and sweeter towards her. He also likes to tease her and tends to act like an protective father or boyfriend towards her. He likes to offer his jacket/sweater/suit when he sees her wearing something too short for his liking.

How they interact: Many found their interaction to be quite amusing. Despite being quite similar in their personalities, they never fail to entertain everyone else because they always clash - one way or another.
