taeri was born in gwangju but moved to nyc at the early age of 2 because her father got transferred to work there. she studied elementary school and middle school there, and attended drama and singing classes as well. her family moved back to korea, but this time they went to seoul. taeri finished high school at sopa, studying acting and singing, and even did a few plays at broadway.

her family lived in a villa complex, and in the villa next to hers lived a boy who was a year older than her, seo changbin. the two of their room windows faced each other, so they could see inside each others rooms. when they realized this, the two of them began opening their windows and talking to each other. sometimes, when it was late, they would text each other on kakaotalk while looking at each other and would sometimes stay up almost all night.

eventually, they started meeting properly, and went out together a lot. finally, she actually confessed that she liked him first, and he admitted that he liked her too, and they started dating, and both their parents luckily approved

around 2 months later, taeri got an offer to go be one of the lead characters in a broadway play, and be an official part of the actors there. all her flight expenses were free, and they provided her with a small apartment with the first 2 months' rent. she wanted to accept but she didn't want to leave her family or her boyfriend, who was basically a part of her now since she loved him so much. in the end, it was changbin who convinced her to go. he said it wouldn't be easy, but he didn't want her to regret not taking the job in the future, so taeri moved back to nyc, which she realized she missed very much, and now lives in an apartment.
