  30. Zelgadis: to cast Endickening Gaze as a third-level spell you have to prepare it as a third level spell

  116. ThatDM: Anyway, you're fresh from being sent by the Elf Queen to search the ruins that allegedy surround Maple Wise, called the Sunelss City. It's a rather large set of ruins populated by tribes of Seelie and Unseelie, and is, according to legend, the ruins of a civilization that destroyed themselves due to their uncontrollable power.

  136. Elf Queen: So the Elf Queen allows you to stay at her elf palace to rest up before booting you off to the entrance of the ruins, 7 miles down an overgrown old road. The entryway to the ruins is punctuated by sharp drops and laborous climbs, ensuring only the most able-bodied are able to even see the entryway...able bodied or if you're just able to fly like a bastard

  152. Dr Felix: "Don't hurt me! I'll do anything! My research is too important to be lost out here!"
  153. Brenna: "Dr. Felix, was it?" Brenna holds out a hand. "Pleased to meet you. To meet anyone out here, really. Did you come alone?"
  154. Lazarre: "How did you get here? This wasn't a journey an old man could risk by himself."
  155. Brenna: "In the pursuit of knowledge, I'm sure he could!"
  156. Dr Felix: "Ooh. Oooh! That's one impressive grip you got there! Well uh, I was supposed to be met by a few colleagues of mine, but they've arrived far too late.   201. Brenna: Brenna cradles her hands together, concentrating for a few seconds. As an afterthought, she tests the ladder again with her foot, lightly pushing on it to check if it's anchored in place.
  202. Dr Felix: the ladder is sorta lodged in there, but not really nailed down or anything
  203. Dr Felix: could probably yank it out if you really tried
  204. Brenna: "Could we not simply use the ladder as a bridge?"
  205. Brenna: "Between the three of us, I think we could manage."
  206. Lazarre: "That could work for you, but I'm not acrobat, and I doubt the old man has seen his share of circus rounds."

  208. Brenna: "He was just suggesting we swing across."
  209. Lazarre: "I trust my grip more than my balance."

  218. Brenna: "Way ahead of you, doctor!" Brenna casts a minor illusion, causing the distant ladder to disappear - but only from a very specific angle that the professor happens to be standing in.
  219. Brenna: "Now we'll just have to pull it up."
  220. Dr Felix: "Woah! Do my eyes deceive me, or...nevermind! We've gotten that done!"
  221. Dr Felix: The Dr. spits on his hands, rubs em together, and prepares to pull up the ladder. "I may not look it, but I've been known as...*GRRRUNNTT* quite the...*GRRUUNNTTT* strongman back in my day! *GRRRR*"
  222. Lazarre: that's just him grunting up the strength to rub his hands together isn't it

  225. Brenna: Brenna releases the smol fakemouse she'd been forming in her hands, watching for the Kobra's reaction

  266. Lazarre: But outside of battle, true failure tends to slow action down rather than move the action along. A more constructive way to interpret failure is as a near-success or event that happens to carry unwanted consequences or side effects. The character probably still fails to achieve the desired goal, but that’s because something happens on the way to the goal rather than because nothing happens.

  296. Brenna: "Get out of here, you awful snake!" Brenna kicks downwards, in an attempt to shoo the thing

  298. Brenna: Climbing back up now.
  299. Dr Felix: "Now let's get this ladder in working order!"
  300. Lazarre: "You okay? Not too shook to get across, are you?"
  301. Kobra: You proceed to shoot your shot and get the ladder over the pit, and golly does it fit just fine
  302. Brenna: "I'll... I'm fine. Slippery when wet. I'll remember that."
  303. Brenna: She takes extra time to wipe down her shoes.
  304. Brenna: "Maybe you should go first."
  305. Dr Felix: "All right, looks like I'm going first...that's the way of a true gentlemen!" Felix makes his way to the ladder and looks down once."Actually, maybe someone else can volunteer!"
  306. Brenna: "I did mean Lazarre, of course. He did have the confidence to FIGHT the cobra, if it came to it."
  307. Lazarre: "Oh, fine."
  308. Lazarre: "But I'm going under, not over."
  309. Lazarre: Lazarre climbs down the cliff just a tiny bit, and grabs the underside of one of the rungs, preparing to monkey-bar across this fucker
  310. Lazarre: Assuming they hold.

  312. Dr Felix: you proceed to monkey bar across that fucker actually its not really that hard

  330. Brenna: Brenna lowers her center of gravity and gathers her resolve, before taking a crack at the ladder one last time
