[ IMFACT — BACKGROUND ]

    After the success groups Check That and Stardust picked up, WJM immediately began scouting for new recruits, trying to ride the fame that their small company was receiving and expand on it. They held international auditions with multiple other companies, their main focus being on members that were diverse due to their previous two groups containing only Korean members. After successfully rounding up around fifteen trainees, they began to focus on promoting them as much as they could during their predebut time - modelling for the company, commercial shoots, minor drama roles, and even appearing in their labelmate's music videos to help raise awareness to the new group that was being formed. In 2012, a scandal involving Check That arose involving both sexual assault of female idols and recreational drug abuse, and the 4 year old group was disbanded. The bad publicity had a negative affect on the company's image, believing the agency was not capable of handling their idols or allowing them to do such things, and due to this both Stardust and WJM lost favor with the public, their popularity falling.
    In late 2014, WJM released a statement announcing the production of an elimination show containing all male trainees under the company - around 17, total. The filming was to begin in mid-2015, and while the budget wasn't great, it sent netizens into a flurry of curiosity at what idols WJM had been hiding up their sleeve, and a want to see if they were any good. Upon hearing the news, fans and antis of the small company scurried to find information on the trainees, looking back into all the appearances the boys had made and picking their favorites to root for during the competition. After twelve episodes with numerous missions, bonding moments, and hardships, WJM picked their final lineup for the new group, taking into account both the members popularity and all-around skills for being an idol. Many favorites were not picked, along with some of the most talented, but that did not stop people from coming back to check the group out when they debuted.

» | overall concept: From the beginning, WJM knew that they were going to go for a mature, more manly feel with this boy group compared to their last two groups. While Check That had a more bad ass, hiphop concept, Stardust had a cute, bright image that helped make them memorable, and the agency wanted to explore a new root for the younger generation. Taking away all the bling and flashy things, this group is classy, mature, and sleek while still keeping their young, youthful image. Their choreography is nothing extraordinary, but is admired for it's smooth, clean delivery that fits the feel their performance gives off.

» | treatment from fans: As Mayday is respectful to their fans, the fans are as respectful as they can be back. They will yell and get excited, as most fans do, but the majority of their fans are as mature as the band's image is. They're the type of fans that the members feel comfortable joking around and being close with, and will even have conversations with if they have time. The band is really proud of how laid back their fans are, even if they are a rookie group and that can change in the future.

Wei, due to his Chinese drama appearances, has made them a bit popular in China, as Sol has in Thailand. In the U.S, people are looking at them for their English speaking members, Kyungmin and Felix.

    The company, while not wanting to harm their moneymakers, can push quite a lot on idols when they aren't careful. They made the mistake of being too lenient with Check That, causing too many scandals and anti's of the group, so with Stardust and Mayday they've become a lot more strict. Heavy diets, harsh rules and schedules, and even plastic surgery are suggested if the company can scrape up enough money for it. They don't go to the extent of not letting them recover from serious injuries, as the managers are the main people in charge of the group and are more easygoing than they higher ups in the agency.

    Since they are freshly debuted, WJM has thrown all of their efforts into promoting them. Stardust, while still popular in the industry, are growing old and the company wants a secure income of money ready by the time the girl group's contract end. They don't have a ton of money, but what they do have is being pushed towards promoting the rookie group and getting as many people to like them as possible. Stardust is on break right now, but are scheduled to have a comeback early next year, and it's suspected that the company will turn their attention away from Mayday when that happens.

    WJM Entertainment is known for being quiet on the workings of their company - when Check That's scandal arose, not much more than the minimum was heard from them concerning the group or what was going to happen to them. Fans are kept mostly in the dark, with both the company and the idols signed working to keep it as behind the scenes as possible.

» | scandals: As of now, no scandals have been released or brought up about WJM's new rookie group. Netizens, doubtful as always, are digging as far back as they can into each boy's life to find something to talk about, but so far nothing has been found that they can gossip about.

    Mayday, at a glance, isn't the most original group out there, hence why they didn't immediately blow up. They have catchy songs and cute members, yes, but no super unique concept or charisma that draws people to them at first glance. They're most known for their international members, but when you mention Mayday you probably just think of their debut song and move on. It takes time to really get into them, but once you know them, a lot of things can come to mind - they're extremely goofy, never sitting still and staying quiet even if it's a serious moment, and even the grouchy members are complete cuties when they aren't annoyed. They haven't been given much a chance to prove themselves yet, but they're a very hardworking group, and in times of struggle or even happiness they seem closer than brothers even if they haven't been together for long.

There's a couple that I don't really hear from but I don't make it a big deal bc the rest are and it doesn't really affect anything.
