Cariacatures --------------
The people in Ersatz are all cariacatures of real people, with certain traits of them pumped up to maximum, to create familiar-yet-different characters in a unique style. A cariacature's soul contains three parts; their Spirit, Heart, and Aspect, and these three are shown on their Emblem.
- Spirit
A cariacature's Spirit is what drives it to continue acting, like an ideal or motivation. These are usually positive, such as Justice, Hope, or Love, however they can also be more negative, such as Vengeance, Superiority, or Power.
- Heart
A cariacature's Heart is their most core flaw; if you were to remove a cariacature's Heart, they would not truly be the same person. Some examples include Fear, Wrath, and Greed.
- Aspect
Finally, a cariacature's Aspect is what personalizes them as unique; it's what someone would think of first when picturing them. Aspects can be both positive, such as Heroism, Charity, or Protection, or they can be negative, such as Megalomania, Insanity, or Sadism.
- Emblem
A cariacature's Emblem is a symbol (usually shown on an amulet or ring) that defines them as uniquely them. It is similar to an ID, as each cariacature has a unique Emblem; it takes on the color of their Aspect, and the icons of both their Spirit and Heart. A dead cariacature's Emblem may be given to a loved one or descendant, if they were seen as a good individual, or it may be destroyed, if they were seen as evil.
