  1. MAGIC EDITS FOR KNAVE Draft 0.2
  2.
  3. SPELL BOOK
  4. A spell is cast out of a spell book, which held in one hand and read aloud. If you cast the same spell more than once in a day roll a Mishap Die.
  5.
  6. MISHAP DIE
  7. Situations such as carrying 2 Bulky items, casting the same spell more than once a day, or if you took damage this Round put your cast at risk. When a spell cast in such a moment roll your Mishap Die.
  8. 1 Cannot cast this spell again until you have a night’s rest.
  9. 2 You become tired and drained of energy, your carry capacity takes a -1 penalty until you have a night’s rest.
  10. 3-4 The spell leaps towards and is centered on another random creature within 30ft of the caster.
  11. 5-6 No effect
  12.
  13. MAGIC WORDS
  14. Writing new spell books is a practice lost to time, however new spells can be made by deconstruction and reconstructing the magic words that make up the title of an existing spell.
  15.
  16. This can be done could be done by using two books at the same time selecting the words and order desired. Using magic in this way is reckless and requiring you to roll a Mishap Die. Casting a spell like this might produce a different effect if repeated!
  17.
  18. Once the magic-user has created the name of the new spell, it’s up to the Referee to determine that spell’s effects. If the same combination is used many times the Referee should write its description between sessions. Connective words (“of” or “and”) are assumed to be known and words with the same root (“Truth” could be “Truthful” or “Untrue”) may be used interchangeably.
  19.
  20. As an example, a caster who owns the books “Ooze Form” and “Astral Prison” has four magic words at their disposal: astral, form, ooze, and prison. The caster can then mix and match these options in various ways. They might craft “Astral Form”, “Prison of Ooze”.
