Kiragi: [sweat] Wait, these are yours? I thought they were leftovers.
Kiragi: Why do they look so beat up?
Nina: [frown] Hey! They’re practically good as new!
Nina: Anyway, if you don’t like them, quit using them!
Nina: [frown] Sheesh, I thought you were meant to be a great hunter or something.
Nina: Must’ve been a different Kiragi.
Kiragi: [frown] Hey, I AM a great hunter!
Kiragi: Your bows are just impossible to use!
Nina: [smile, closed eyes] Only a poor craftsman blames his tools.
Kiragi: Only a stupid warrior uses an obviously inferior weapon!
Nina: [smile] And yet I bet my victory count’s way above yours.

Kiragi: [determined] I hope you’re keeping track, ‘cause next time we’re gonna have to compare!
Nina: [smile] I’m not gonna lose to someone who can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

Nina: [smile, closed eyes] Sixteen in that last battle. I’m not too worried.
Kiragi: [surprised] Sixteen?!
Nina: I know you couldn’t dream of having th-

Nina: [surprised] Wait, you managed to take out sixteen enemies?!
Kiragi: I’m amazed you took out anything at all with those busted old arrows!
Nina: [frown] They’re NOT busted! They’re just made of something more sturdy than bamboo!
Kiragi: Oh yeah? Why do they look like they’re about to give me splinters?
Nina: [surprised] …Wait, is that what you were trying to do the other day? Use a bow instead of a yumi?
Nina: …Why?
Kiragi: [frown] Obviously I just felt like hobbling myself for no reason!
Nina: [frown] Well, what did you expect to happen? You were holding it all wrong!
Kiragi: There wasn’t exactly an instruction manual lying around!
Nina: You could’ve just asked!
Kiragi: I’m asking now!
Nina: [surprised] …Wait, you are?
Kiragi: [sweat, neutral] I- yeah, I guess. (Honestly, I was kind of caught up in the arguing.)
Nina: [smile] I mean, I’m happy to show you the ropes. I’ve always been curious about yumi too.
Kiragi: [smile, closed eyes] Then what about we have another competition?
Kiragi: We’ll train with each other’s weapons, then use them next battle!
Nina: [smile, closed eyes] I hope you’re ready to lose!

Nina: [eyes closed, blush, frown] …That could’ve gone better.
Nina: [frown] I guess twice the size makes it twice as hard to handle.
Nina: Still, these bamboo arrows are pretty nifty, and seeing the way Kiragi uses it…

Kiragi: [frown] Congratulations on your victory.
Nina: [sweat, frown] Don’t count yourself out too early. How many did you get?
Kiragi: [eyes closed, frown, blush] Let’s just say you win and leave it at that.
Nina: No, really, I- that REALLY wasn’t my best showing.
Kiragi: At least you had a showing at all.
Nina: If by that you mean ‘I made a fool of myself’, then…
Kiragi: [injured] …Zero. I got zero.
Kiragi: Avatar sent a runner to make sure I hadn’t been taken out.
Nina: [surprised] Me too!
Nina: [injured, blush] Down to the runner. And it was my stupid dad, of all people.
Kiragi: [surprised] Wait, you didn’t get any at all? Not even one?
Nina: [blush, frown] Hey, you did just as bad!
Kiragi: [smile, closed eyes] Hahaha…
Nina: [smile, closed eyes] Hehehe…
Nina: I feel so stupid. I’ve spent most of my life training to use a shortbow. I can barely get my head around Chevois longbows, let alone a yumi.
Kiragi: They feel so clumsy and heavy in my hands, but you make it look effortless. I can’t believe the accuracy you get!
Nina: You’re the one who looks effortless! I don’t know how you can even hold such a massive bow, let alone hit the shots you do!
Nina: [smile, sweat] …And I have to admit, bamboo arrows ARE way more durable. I can’t believe how much reuse you can get out of them!
Kiragi: [smile] Your arrows are great, though! The weight and cut is so uniform.
Kiragi: Hey, you’ll keep showing me how to use ‘em, right? Even if our last challenge was a failure?
Nina: [smile] Of course! And you better keep up your end of the bargain!
Kiragi: Sure! Y’know, I was thinking, actually, I think what you might need is a slightly bigger yumi…

Nina: [smile] Wow, it’s pretty cramped in here.
Kiragi: Well, it’s built for one.
Nina: [surprised] I thought you hunted with your dad?
Kiragi: I do when he has time, but he’s usually busy with boring prince stuff.
Nina: [frown] Ugh, sounds familiar.
Kiragi: [smile, closed eyes] So, uh, I made you something!
Nina: [surprised] Huh?
Kiragi: [blush, frown] Don’t get the wrong idea or anything, this is a gift between archers!
Kiragi: [normal smile] Here. It should be just right for your height.
Nina: You made me a yumi?!
Kiragi: I mean, I’m no expert craftsman or anything, so don’t take it to war.
Kiragi: But it should be okay for the practice yard.
Nina: [smile, closed eyes] This is amazing! My gift looks like nothing in comparison!
Kiragi: [surprised] Wait, you got me a gift?
Nina: Yeah. Or I guess more like… I made something for both of us.
Nina: This is meant to be a new era in Hoshido-Nohr cooperation, right?
Nina: So I figured I should start writing our experiences down. What it’s like training with each other’s bows, things we can learn from each other…
Nina: That way, maybe after the war our archers can train with each other, even develop new styles.
Kiragi: [surprised] Whoa, this is incredible!
Nina: [blush, sweat] I’ve never written non-fiction before, but it turns out I have a lot of experience in describing body moveme- oh!
