Lancelot dealt the other's shoulders and arms so many blows that they became swollen and painful, and Caradoc, able to deliver only weak thrusts, could only hope to seize Lancelot with his hands. But Lancelot was wary of this, feeling him to be strong and powerful enough to hurt him with his grip, which was the only thing he feared. But Lancelot was very nimble and quite strong and not at all out of breath, and he kept darting out of his foe's way as Caradoc kept reaching for him.

They fought together like that for a long time, until Caradoc was so tired that he knew no longer how to protect himself.
