An attempt
"find her! Don't let her escape" dawn felt her bag againto make sure
it was still there. She ran through the forest chancing a glance back
here and there. She could practically feel her pursuer's breath on her
the back of her neck. The night was particuly cold for late April. Th
snow should be completely gone, however there was nothing green in
sight. Finally some light apperared In The distance. Almost there.
Dawn thought, nearly out of breath. Just a few more ...dawn didn't
even get to finish her thoughts.
Dawn woke with a cold hand over her mouth. Panicing she begin to
strugle. " quiet or they'll hear you" said an unfamiliar yet
nonrhreatening voice. Dawn nodded that she understood and slowly the
hand moved away. After a few minutes thy finally heard the pursuer
moving  away. " umm hi" dawn was startled by the sudden words. "so who
are you and why did you just run into me" she stared at the stranger
in the dim lit for a few moments before answering. "thank you but I
need to go..." with those words dawn began to walk away. As she was
walking away dawn checked the display in her armband. " right I'm
almost there". Her pursuers had gone the direction of the light which
was roughly south east. Dawn decided to circle aroun to avoid them. As
she Walked north dawn replayed the last few hours though her head.
Remembering what she had just stolen she reached for her bag. "shit"
dawn immediatly turned around and began to run back towards where she
had just been. Approaching the spot of her collision dawn slowed to a
walk and listen for any sign that her pursuers were still near by. Not
hearing aNything she began to search the area for her bag after a few
minutes of frantic searching she walked down a short embankment. The
first thing she notices is that someone is sitting against a tree.
After closer inspection she noticed that it's the same boy from before
and thathe was holding what seemed to be her bag " you hAve my bag"
dawn demands.
Startled " I'm sorry you ran off before I could give it back" the boy
replies a little sheepishly.
" give it back!" dawn demands again.
"tell me your name first"
  dawn was in no mood to play games "my name is dawn now give me back
my bag I need to..." dawn replied a little too loudly "shit they're
back"
"follow me" the boy whispered to dawn as he tossed her back back to
her. He had saved her once so dawn decided to trust him. He quickly
and more quietly than dawn could have managed in the dark led her
through a maze of trees. He led her this way and that. A few times he
stopped her and they huddled behind a tree as they heard people
walking by them . After what seemed like eternity the boy finally
stopped at what seemed to be a random tree. After a few seconds he
lead her inside of a passageway she was sure wasn't there moments
before. Inside the passge he blindly led her up a ladder. At the top
she walked into a brightly lit room. Wait room? She was confused
because they had jus been inside of a tree. "where... Where am I" she
finally managed to get out.  Looking around the room she noticed that
there were a lot of electronic devices that she didn't recognize. "my
dad is a scientist and he let's me have some of his old equipment."
dawn was fascinated by the whole room. "I'm Daren." dawn had a
quizzical look on her face "what?" "my name, it's daren"
"oh" dawn turned and studied her rescuer. It was a young man, probably
in his late teens. His hair was a dirty blon color and he kept his
face cleanly shaved. His physical build was not much larger than her
own, however it was proportioned differently. But what dawn noticed
the most was his eyes. He had huge brown eyes. They just gleemed with
knowledge and desire for more. After a few moments of carefully
studying Daren , dawn finally spoke
" thank you Daren. I'm sorry to have gotten you caught up in all this
but I don't think that they know about you so you should be safe."
"uhh you're welcome. Can you tell me now why you ran into me in the
forest?
