Without the barrier there, the doors swing open. The jolly pink sprite-bot hovers in the entry to the byzantine temple's interior. "The password's /always/ PARTY TIME!" she announces. "It's great to see you gals again!"

  29. [2015-09-09 13:40:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Dark grey columns march through the interior of the byzantine temple under a dome fresco of midnight blue. Along the walls are the remains of broken, badly aged pews. Wood from these, and from dismantled doors, covers the tall and narrow arches of the window.
  30. [2015-09-09 13:43:00] * Noble_Heart steps through the doors, taking some moments to look around the room within. "The zebras had remarkable architecture."
  31. [2015-09-09 13:44:22] * Mitzi looks up at the ceiling and frowns a bit. "Too much space. Stripey ponees no fly, right?"
  32. [2015-09-09 13:44:31] * Get_Lost sits down and starts looking around "parlay, take a lot of pic... ah, even better, start filming"
  33. [2015-09-09 13:45:28] * Bookwright "It's a spectacle thing."
  34. [2015-09-09 13:45:36] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Military barricades form a circle in the center of the room. The most intact of the skeletons lie within, some with old weapons laying next to their skulls. In the center of the circle is what looks like an Enclave tower. Towards the back, Enclave-style crates are stacked next to the wall-sized pipe organ.
  35. [2015-09-09 13:47:57] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One of the skeletons in the barricade circle is of a pegasus. Her bones still wear the remains of a Shadowbolt uniform.
  36. [2015-09-09 13:50:41] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright's question falls on distracted sensors, as suddenly Pink-E seems to focus on only one thing. As Parlay swoops in, it beeps to the pink spritebot in greeting. Pink-E responds with exuberant beeps of her own as the two bots circle about each other.

  38. [2015-09-09 13:53:58] * CopyCat giggles lightly, watching the bots bop around each other. "Pink-E and Parlay sitting in a tree~ Do-ing what the shouldn't be~"
  39. [2015-09-09 13:54:38] * Mitzi looks to Bookwright. "Tu much fur lukeen, tu much space." As a hellhound she much preferred the ground, it's tight corridors and ceiling ed caves.
  40. [2015-09-09 13:54:56] * Shatara attempts to solemnly examine the solders' remains, but now can't stop thinking about robot sex. :I
  41. [2015-09-09 13:55:06] * Get_Lost smiles at the beeping robots, so proud of her little cyberdaughter. she made friends!
  42. [2015-09-09 13:58:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3For Golden Dream, this place is far too reminiscent of the Church of Luna in Froggy Bottom Bog to be either coincidental or comfortable.
  43. [2015-09-09 14:01:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara quickly gleans that nearly all the remains here were pegasi. From the remains of the uniforms, they appear to have been an Equestria Sky Guard squadron. The Shadowbolt, he can surmise, was the squad's commanding officer.
  44. [2015-09-09 14:02:16] * Noble_Heart looks up and around at the top of the church, then back towards the remains. "Strange to find pony remains uncleaned in a place like this. The school was the same. Ancient dead not even buried. The zebras do not seem to have the same problems with raiders that ponies did, and more did Mwahna not say that they creamated their dead?" She frowned. "We wonder if the remains

  46. [2015-09-09 14:04:00] * Shatara hmms. "Possible...or maybe anyone who comes through here is too busy trying not to forget themselves to worry about those who are long gone..."
  47. [2015-09-09 14:04:05] * Bookwright "I think it's more likely that the town itself is too inimical for habitation. These skeletons weren't left here for a purpose. I think these ponies died here."
  48. [2015-09-09 14:05:06] * Shatara nods in agreement. "They fought to the death. But for what...?"
  49. [2015-09-09 14:11:15] * Bookwright "Well, there was the town memory of catastrophe. Maybe they died of smoke inhalation?"
  50. [2015-09-09 14:13:28] * Get_Lost trots over the deads, looks for what killedthem. mostly, bullet holes in the dresses and such
  51. [2015-09-09 14:16:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3From the few who show any sign of the nature of their demise, Get_Lost can ascertain that they died in a fight. Possibly the same one where somebody bashed the front doors open with a battering ram.

  59. [2015-09-09 14:24:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 10"The zebras living in this town are innocent victims, Major. That Vault has been using them as a shield. We don't slaughter innocents. We're ponies, not monsters."

  68. [2015-09-09 14:34:54] * Mitzi looks over the pegasus bodies, wondering if they had been looted at all in the time since they passed. Somehow, she doubted it.
  69. [2015-09-09 14:37:14] * Noble_Heart frowns and twitches her ears a little at the sounds. "Strange. Very strange... It seems this Vault of LIV has pre-dated the problems of the war."
  70. [2015-09-09 14:39:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The bodies have not been looted in the way that wastelanders are used to. However, all of their weapons are missing any ammunition.
  71. [2015-09-09 14:40:00] * Mitzi considers that. "Dey run out of boolits?" Or sparkle packs, as the case may be.
  72. [2015-09-09 14:40:56] * Bookwright "Hm. It could be their ammunition was taken by allies after they fell. Sharing out ammo is a survival tactic on the battlefield."
  73. [2015-09-09 14:41:33] <Shatara> "Or they simply...ran out..."
  74. [2015-09-09 14:41:42] * Shatara checks the crates by the organ.
  75. [2015-09-09 14:41:54] * Mitzi nods to Bookwright, "Cud be both dose tings."
  76. [2015-09-09 14:42:06] * Bookwright "Every one of them, shooting until they were dry? I think that's even scarier."
  77. [2015-09-09 14:43:30] * Get_Lost "there are no other corpses here... will someone with a decent knwolwgde of ballistics check the temple to say if there was a big gunfight here? there should be holes everwhere..."
  78. [2015-09-09 14:43:41] * Get_Lost "shatara, what do you think?"
  79. [2015-09-09 14:43:44] * Mitzi nods, "Dey fought sumteen tough, ur reel scaree." He looks to Noble_Heart, "Yu said sumteen about uh LIV ting?"
  80. [2015-09-09 14:46:07] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The crates by the organ are of the same design as Enclave crates, but are labeled as belonging to the Equestrian Sky Guard. The crates are locked with cloud locks.
  81. [2015-09-09 14:48:16] * Bookwright "Right, so we can let Shatara do the looting or I can cast my cloudwalking spell on anypony else who wants to help out."
  82. [2015-09-09 14:48:46] * Get_Lost lets the others loot and starts looking for the entrance to the vault
  83. [2015-09-09 14:50:45] * Noble_Heart nods her head. "The Vault here. It is The Vault of LIV. There is a cult which inhabits it. Necromancers from what We have gathered." She stamps a forehoof. "We have been charged with 'dealing' with them by the zebras who oversee the catacombs of Roam. They are also likely a danger to everyone."
  84. [2015-09-09 14:51:32] * Mitzi nods to Noble_Heart, then considers, "Eez dey da uns wit bug ponees? Ur eez dey sumteen else?"
  85. [2015-09-09 14:52:10] * Noble_Heart shakes her head. "We do not believe they are responsible for the changelings. It seems likely that they also oppose the changelings and the Roaman empire."
  86. [2015-09-09 14:53:31] * Get_Lost "isn't LIV a numeral in zebra? like... uh... 56? 54?"
  87. [2015-09-09 14:53:41] * Mitzi thinks about that, "How yu know dey bad?"
  88. [2015-09-09 14:54:57] * Get_Lost shrugs "we were told.. we will probably check first... i guess? i usually don't kill ponies if there i another way to avoid a massacre..."
  89. [2015-09-09 14:58:09] * Noble_Heart frowns. "They have been killing the zebras sent here from what We gathered. They also appear to be deeply involved in Necromancy." She shakes her head. "We are uncertain as to the nature of the group. Only that they appear dangerous and hostile to outsiders."
  90. [2015-09-09 14:58:54] * Mitzi nods, "Eef dey try to hurt ur friends, den dey bad." She smiles at Noble_Heart. "Eef dey want tu talk though, we du dat furst."
  91. [2015-09-09 14:59:24] <Shatara> "And there was that necrobugpone...what happened to necrobugpone?"
  92. [2015-09-09 15:01:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost searches the church, looking for Vault LIV. She finds the basement. But the Vault is not there. Instead, there are scores of skeletons stacked under blankets.
  93. [2015-09-09 15:01:55] * Get_Lost "hey, a lot of equines died here... not just the pegasi up there..."
  94. [2015-09-09 15:03:04] * Mitzi follows Get_Lost to take a look curiosuly. That was a lot of bones. She had to remind herself for a moment that chewing on them was not okay.
  95. [2015-09-09 15:03:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost finds the stairs to each tower. The Vault is not in any of them. In the top room of one tower, she finds the town's "early warning system". The windows in this room lead out to a ledge from which a zebra could reach the mounted air raid sirens.
  96. [2015-09-09 15:05:25] * Get_Lost takes a look from the lookout "captain! i see her! it blows, it blows! ismael, the harpoon! quick!"
  97. [2015-09-09 15:05:41] * Get_Lost feels very akhabby
  98. [2015-09-09 15:06:02] * Shatara peeks up after Get_Lost and wats in her general direction
  99. [2015-09-09 15:06:56] * Get_Lost smiles at shatara, it is hard to tell her mood because, you know, no eyes "why aren't we hunting whales?"
  100. [2015-09-09 15:07:15] <Mare-Do-Well> 3In the opposite tower, Get_Lost finds an observation nest. The telescope and binoculars here don't help see vary far with the think white smoke outside. A sniper rifle lays next to a bedroll and several empty cans of Magical Fruit. There is a table here, and stretched out on it is a faded and disintegrating map of the town.
  101. [2015-09-09 15:07:29] * Shatara blinks. "Uhm...cause they're too big to eat...and we're on land...?"
  102. [2015-09-09 15:08:05] * Get_Lost takes serveral pics of the map and sends it to every party member with a pipbuck
  103. [2015-09-09 15:08:29] * Get_Lost "wouldn't it be romantiv? well, and cruel, but romantic?"
  104. [2015-09-09 15:08:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There are several locations circled on the map. One is the school. One is a theatre. One is a vacant lot on the very edge of town.
  105. [2015-09-09 15:10:01] * Shatara takes notes of the map as well.
  106. [2015-09-09 15:10:22] * Noble_Heart looks around downstairs a bit. The call of dead in the basement she frowns. "A mausoleum perhaps? It is strange. From whence did all these dead come?" She shakes her head. "It is assumable that we have discovered all this before, and likely this is the information that took us to the places where we woke up."
  107. [2015-09-09 15:10:50] <Shatara> "Maybe we should write it down this time..."
  108. [2015-09-09 15:11:39] * Get_Lost trots back to the group "we were probqably checking the circled places on the map... guys, i sent you a file with a map... did somepony wake up in one of those places?"
  109. [2015-09-09 15:13:08] * Mitzi notes, "Me und Noble_Heart wuz at a Schul."
  110. [2015-09-09 15:15:46] * Bookwright still has his spell going, so seeing if the Enclave kept any journals should be the work of a moment."
  111. [2015-09-09 15:21:05] * CopyCat tilts her head. "I was running... I'm not sure where I was running. To, I mean. My destination could have been one of these places," she says, regarding the map, "but I can't be sure. The way I was running though... it was more like I was running /from/ something." CopyCat smiles. "Of course, I can't remember."
  112. [2015-09-09 15:37:45] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Noble_Heart looks over the covered skeletons in the basement, taking note that of the care with which the bodies were laid out then respectfully covered, as well as piles of luggage and random, worthless items in one corner of the room.
  113. [2015-09-09 15:38:52] * Noble_Heart tilts her head to one side. Examining the luggage a little with a frown. "These were not soldiers. These were refugees. Someone scared and running." She scowls at the prospect. "Considering the state of the school, a great tragedy occurred here. And not merely one of military conflict."
  114. [2015-09-09 15:39:54] * Mitzi nods to Noble_Heart, "Were dese ponies ur stripeys?"
  115. [2015-09-09 15:39:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Unlike the bodies upstairs, these are all zebra skeletons, and only one show signs of having met with a violent end.
  116. [2015-09-09 15:44:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright's spell does highlight several records within the church. A few are in the basement, within the pile of refugee belongings. A few appear to be hymnals that still have enough legible pages to be useful. One is the map that Get_Lost found.
  117. [2015-09-09 15:45:32] * Bookwright leaves the maps to the ponies with pipbucks and goes downstairs to examine the pile of refugee stuff.

  120. [2015-09-09 15:48:48] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The PipBuck is found wedged in a corner behind the what was once the priest's desk in one of the back rooms.
  121. [2015-09-09 15:49:38] * Bookwright "Excellent! It's a pipbuck! That I can't operate. Um. Shatara? Golden Dream? Noble Heart? Help?
  122. [2015-09-09 15:52:08] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The PipBuck is military issue, not one of the civilian designs common from around Canterlot or from the Stables. It is embossed with the Shadowbolts flank insignia.
  123. [2015-09-09 15:53:51] * Shatara gets fancy wristcompy envy.
  124. [2015-09-09 15:56:21] * Bookwright "Seriously I don't know how to use this thing. Can you lend me a... talon?"
  125. [2015-09-09 16:00:19] * Shatara attempts to interface with the fancy military pipbuck.
  126. [2015-09-09 16:01:37] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara finds doing so simple. The more difficult part is hacking the PipBuck's security.

  128. [2015-09-09 16:04:54] * Bookwright "You look a little lost. What's wrong?"
  129. [2015-09-09 16:08:33] * Noble_Heart heads back upstairs after examining the belongings briefly. "Zebras. Likely fleeing from the warfront. But We are uncertain what happened to them. Most show no signs of harm." She heads over towards Shatara and Bookwright. "What have you found?"
  130. [2015-09-09 16:10:21] * Bookwright "A military pipbuck, owned by a 'Colonel Fleetfoot'. I can't operate it, and Shatara appears to have been stymied by the device's security. Which I can't hack because I can't operate it."
  131. [2015-09-09 16:15:35] * Noble_Heart frowns and looks down at the PipBuck. "We can attempt to hack it." She examines the device with intent to break its security.
  132. [2015-09-09 16:32:44] * Golden_Dream shudders a bit. "I hate this place. Reminds me too damn much of th' Loonies back home."
  133. [2015-09-09 16:35:11] * Shatara wriggles a little at Noble_Heart's closeness, looking for something interesting to look at.
  134. [2015-09-09 16:41:54] * Golden_Dream looks up at the alicorns, then at the cloud-locked crates. She wondered. "Hey, can alicorn hooves unlock crates?"
  135. [2015-09-09 16:43:11] * Noble_Heart blinks and looks to Golden_Dream. "We believe so, yes. But We lack the skill to unlock such locks."
  136. [2015-09-09 16:46:49] * Bookwright "But Get Lost has the skill. And I know the spell that lets earth ponies and unicorns walk on clouds like a pegasus."
  137. [2015-09-09 16:48:06] * Bookwright looks to Get Lost. "What do you say? Wanna open a lock made out of clouds?"
  138. [2015-09-09 16:48:30] * Golden_Dream looks at Bookie. Holy hell he's useful when he isn't doing something stupid. "Fuggin' do it, Bookie!"
  139. [2015-09-09 16:50:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3After having to back out once to avoid tripping the PipBuck's security, Noble_Heart managed to hack into the military PipBuck. She is treated to all manner of data: journals, maps, mission status reports and more.
  140. [2015-09-09 16:51:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Not being attached to a pony, the PipBuck is flashing an alert that the wearer has no vital signs and is deceased.
  141. [2015-09-09 16:51:12] * Bookwright leans over Noble_Heart's shoulder like an excited colt. "Ooh! Ooh! Journal! Do the journal's last entry!"
  142. [2015-09-09 16:55:01] * Noble_Heart blinks in some confusion as Bookwright practically climbs ontop of her to stare over her withers. "Yes. Yes. Alright." She turns the PipBuck to the journals and checks the latest entry.
  143. [2015-09-09 17:02:21] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The mare's voice comes from the PipBuck's little speaker. It is the same as one of the phantom voices they all heard earlier.
  144. [2015-09-09 17:08:49] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"It wasn't supposed to be like this. But, I suppose, there are a lot of ponies saying that right now. A lot of zebras too, I bet." The voice sounds weary. "They say the portal to hell is opened with the incantation of good intentions..."
  145. [2015-09-09 17:09:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"Even now, I'm certain Tabula Rasa saved lives. The side effects... chalk it up to a piss poor understanding of zebra culture. Not sure that's it, but it's as good a scapegoat as any."
  146. [2015-09-09 17:14:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"I think this will be our last stand. I've given everyone who can still fly permission to abandon church.
