  1. They caught a new prey but... Something was wrong.
  2. It should have known what happened to it's predecessors. Nobody would complain openly, but beneath the excitement there was confusion.
  3. They could always discuss about it when they'll be done.
  4. One of her sisters slashed the suit.
  5. All of them (or almost, she tried not to think about that one sister that always looked sad for some reason) were ready to pounce on their meal... But it never happened.
  6. There was no panicked flailing, no puff of that odd thing from the wound, no blood either.
  7.
  8. It just stood.
  9.
  10. The one that was holding it's hand started flailing instead, hitting and clawing at the limb in a frenzy, a pained look on her face.
  11. And before any of the others could really do anything else than be confused, it spun and *threw* their sister skyward, in a trajectory that she could tell would take her days to come back from.
  12.
  13. As almost all of them jumped on what was not as helpless a prey as they thought, one of them noticed something, through the ruined fabric of the suit.
  14. Not skin, so much like their own but that reddened, bubbling and cracking against the void. But something shinny. More solid. She recognized it from the friend her sisters killed.
  15. *metal*, she remembered the vibrations her friend made through the round face thing.
  16.
  17. The movement of the metal thing under the suit were unnatural, less like aggressive swings and more the limbs trying to get into another position. That didn't help much, her sisters that couldn't dodge fast enough being sent cartwheeling across the grey landscape. It was clumsy, but fast.
  18.
  19. One of the sisters had enough and tackled it from behind, but the bulky thing on it's back vomited puffs of something white, canceling the momentum. It pried her arms off with it's now exposed sharp claws, and slammed her into the ground.
  20.
  21. This proved to be a mistake, the resulting cloud of dust leaving it wide open.
  22.
  23. A punch turned the helmet into it's own cloud of debris.
  24.
  25. A screech echoed through their shared bond, and the one who punched staggered back in view.
  26.
  27. She was holding her elbow, a look of incomprehension and horror on her face as she stared at the blood lazily drifting toward the dry soil.
  28. The arm was gone.
  29.
  30. All the moon rabbits present looked at the *thing*.
  31. The helmet was gone, and instead of head with a face somewhat like theirs, there was just a cluster of cylinders, each twitching in different directions, following them, and under that what vaguely looked like a jaw. There was no lips, no skin, not even a tongue, just two crescent lined with teeth.
  32.
  33. The severed arm was poking out sideways, squirting blood as the jaw opened and closed, less like chewing and more like testing the resistance of the limb.
  34.
  35. Two of the cylinders turned toward the wounded bunny.
  36. There was a flash, a splash of vapor, and then she was clawing at her face.
  37.
  38. The only one who didn't attack ran. She refused to look back.
  39. Even as she felt one of her sister disappear she didn't look back.
  40. A second.
  41.
  42. She hid in a lava tube, refusing to come out
  43. Sometime she saw the tall silhouette in the distance, even years after the first attack.
  44. She still felt some of her sisters, walking around and doing... Something.
  45. A third.
  46.
  47. Sometime, she could sense something thumping through the ground.
  48. She never came back out.
  49.
  50. One day, there was loud, violent vibrations, for what felt like hours. Then, a tremendous impact.
  51. A fourth.
  52.
  53.
  54. She was alone.
