  14. How can a good site like this get penalized? Contents look solid, links from wikihow & some big authority sites. Hmm
  15.
  16. From 3,2 million to 10k monthly visit, what a big hit
  17. if it was a penalty then it could be because of the YMYL, the site says that all info is strictly informational and shouldn't be taken as a professional's advice so google probably don't want someone to stumble here when they search for "vomiting and nausea in children" and have they child get even worse.
  18. Pretty much sums it up.
  19. Just read about that google update in August, a lot of nutrition/health sites got hit too. It's eye-opening! Thanks
  20. It's not an "authority" site in my eyes. It was a high ranging site sure, but no one was going via direct traffic, it wasn't a niche brand.
  21. I say:
  22. WebMD
  23. Livestrong
  24. Mayo clinic
  25.
  26. We're talking niche dominators, we're talking AUTHORITY. You're not directly competing against them without some serious budget.
  27. But I just don't see the other site as an "authority site".
  28.
  29.
  30. Things have been weird for quite few months. I believe that a major G update will roll out soon and everything will flip upside down again. #tinfoilhat
  31. No, it won't, especially not in the health space.
  32. any website in the heath nuche can get de indexed .
  33.
  34. usally becouse no doctor everdence to prove medical facts .
  35.
  36. also
  37.
  38. health and buauty been hit in genrual
  39. No, it won't, especially not in the health space.
  40. Thanks Matt, I assume it's pretty normal for some of the established websites (non health related) to keep on dancing top 10 to 100 every few days. Plenty of weird movements, not health specifically, I've just meant it is at the biggest turbulence of the upcoming core update as a part of the thing.
  41.
  42. Especially with the Google getting smarter, keep on serving shittiest websites @ top 3, with all the amazing efforts of pointing a bunch of 301's and lady gaga PBNs for some of the niches (non health related).
  43. Medic update hit sites like this hard. This one lacks credibility.
  44.
  45. This is the way SEO is going. E-A-T. I believe links will lose value over time and E-A-T will probably become the most important ranking factor. Yes links are important and a link from Forbes is great but even the insanely high authority websites like Forbes can be bought and a link placed. Therefore links lose credibility and they can be manipulated like they have been since the start of Google. However it's nearly impossible to manipulate E-A-T, unless you hire experts to write the content and make a very high quality trusted website. Which is great for Google because that's exactly the types of websites they want to see ranking.
  46. Keyword Golden Ratio Keywords
  47. Low Competition Keywords (Non KGR)
  48. Local Keywords - Ideal for rank and rent/lead generation

  50. Actually, EAT is even easier to mess around with than links. Just get someone from 3rd-world and your site will start ranking higher. Google will also have to maintain a separate DB of authors and then rank them via author rank or some other metric.
  51.
  52. Real doctors and professors rarely write blogs or post on websites that have something to sell. Why? They are busy doing the real stuff. To gain EAT, all you will need to do is get someone with a fake (or "real") medical degree, get your article writer to post content and slap the "expert's" picture on it.

  56. That's what I'm doing though I'm not in the health niche lol, just to make Google happy.
  57. This is exactly the kind of site Google has tried to annihilate.
  58.
  59. Slightly off topic but but related to EAT, if you're in a market with no verifiable authority authors then you better make sure you can be found at some credible location.
  60.
  61. Take uk market for example - on say companies house for the uk market by google.
  62.
  63. On the beta website your allowed to list what you trade as. Let's be honest, there's no better way to verify your business activity/profession than what you pay tax on day in day out with the uk gov. ok there's no link but there's also no better citation in the world for a uk company......and take note, search a company name and the beta website ranks; google is listening to facts.
  64.
  65. Contact us pages with no physical address or verifiable reviews or votes can say bye bye, and for now websites with no verifiable trust are going to be shredded to pieces, whilst genuine experts without accreditation in their fields are unfairly getting pummelled, how else can google clean house of the leachers spouting fluff(and there's way too many ranking).

  67. What's the point of writing something that then turns out to be information that doesn't have the money where the mouth is so to speak. Google cleaning house quite appropriately.
  68. One of my websites that used to get 1.5 million visits/month now gets 300,000 visits/month. Google doesn't care whether you are a small player or a giant, they hit anyone and everyone.
  69. any website in the health, nutrition, medicine niche can get de indexed.

  71. Just to confirm, are we talking health/medicine here? Also are we talking Aug-15th Dec? I also have a site that's probably lost 40% in 30$ per click traffic in this period, whilst Google's done a poor job of replacing me, I can see the logic behind it.

  73. No, it wasn't in the health space.
  74. any website in the health, nutrition, medicine niche can get de indexed.
  75. Wrong. Penalization doesn't mean they could get deindexed. Google doesn't randomly deindex websites just for fun. The Medic update rewards established players and blasts the ones with low EAT.
