  1. The 19th Shard, "Vainglory": Originally a Shard focusing on a cyberpunk, near-future version of Earth, akin to the Cyberpunk 2020 Tabletop setting and its 2020 video game adaptation, Cyberpunk 2077, with corrupt corporations, advancements in technology both cybernetic and biological, and rampant pollution and inequality across the whole world. The main effect of the Collapse on the Shard was the loss in value of almost all sources of energy other than fresh biological sources of energy - fossil fuels suddenly yielded much less power, solar energy could no longer be captured by any human means, nuclear plants rapidly decayed and shut down before they could be used - the world rapidly began to face an energy crisis as the remaining energy from before this happened became increasingly less viable, and soon, nuclear war broke out, destroying the world and all civilizations within, leaving only straggler mutants. However - this wasn't the end, not exactly, for the wealthy Mirai family, who ran the FutureFuels megacorporation, focused on growing artificial plants to use as fuel and power, managed to create a hidden bunker in the depths of the earth, using their own fuel to ensure it could stay active for years. They had originally hoped to just live a life of luxury within this bunker while the rest of the world died, but the youngest daughter of the family, Nessa Mirai, felt scorned due to the fact she was a bastard child between the family's father and some Caucasian woman he slept with in a one night stand. Because she was a bastard, the rest of the family looked down on her heavily, especially her own father, and in particular often mocked her blonde hair, which stood out among the darker hair typical of Asian ethnicity across the rest of the family. Because of this, she resented her own family, and how they didn't treat her kindly, constantly neglecting her and berating her even when, in her eyes, she did something truly special, such as learn many arts at a young stage. With nobody to confide in or care for but herself due to her family's tendencies, she developed a narcissistic personality disorder, with an over-inflated sense of worth, a massive ego, and a compulsion that others must love and praise her regularly, because she deserved it. Thus, the continued scorn of her family increased her anger more and more, until, eventually, when she was a young adult, she poisoned their food with a specially bred vegetable, and they all died at the dinner table while she lived. She was left on her own with the bunker's AI assistant, which she commanded reprogram itself to have a personality almost identical to her own, which it did, and she began scheming - she wanted to create a world that would value her, and as such, she turned to the plants her family had used to make her fuels, or more accurately how they were made - via cloning. It took around 5 years of daily research, but eventually she created a new type of cloning system that could not only clone plants, but people, via using a specific "root matrix" of DNA, her own. She soon had cloned enough of herself to fill the emptiness her killing her family left in the bunker, and as she had already given herself eternal youth via her gene tampering, so we her clones. They thus waited for years and years until the fallout on the surface of the planet died down, before emerging and spreading themselves all over the planet, purging any resistance until the new dominant race - the Mirai - ruled the earth.
