  1. ok R_G, the chick who you said this to:"But Brittany your argument extends to the second and third trimester as well." posted a reply, here it is:

  3. To Steven in regards to my previous posts:
  4.
  5. I didn't clarify my views on abortion entirely. I don't feel abortions outside of the 1st trimester should be banned. There are many reasons why they should be allowed. However I was stating that in the third trimester abortions should be limited because it is increasingly difficult to say whether or not a fetus in the 3rd trimester is alive or not. Just because it is sedated and doesn't feel pain doesn't necessarily mean that the fetus isn't alive. The science behind it isn't exact. I feel as time goes on we will be able to say yes or no to this question with absolute certainty. Until then we should limit 3rd trimester abortions. Also, most abortions do occur in the 1st trimester. Very low percentage of women even go for an abortion during their third trimester. This could be due to some laws in place that highly regulate abortion. During the third trimester a woman should be able to have an abortion if she was raped, if the pregnancy is threatening her life, and other extreme cases.

  7. I do firmly believe in a woman's right to choose. However there are other things to be considered such as whether or not the fetus is alive in the third trimester. I know there is no conclusive evidence on the subject which is why abortion should still be allowed in certain circumstances in the third trimester. It is highly unlikely that a person won't know about their pregnancy before their third trimester. There are many signs and ways to tell.
  8.
  9. I do feel some laws and policies in place in regards to abortion are extreme and unreasonable. It shouldn't be almost impossible for a poor woman to get an abortion. There shouldn't be long processes, such as court cases to prove a rape, in place to get abortions. These policies and laws go against a woman's right to choose and therefore should be examined and changed or removed.

  11. also she left this short comment on the last post with statistics: I agree 100% that research should be involved when discussing/considering such important issues as abortion. Unfortunately I didn't know exactly where to look. I did however read most of the CQ Researcher article on abortion. I know you've been posting some links, I was just wondering what led you to those sources so I can do some of my own research.

  14. now; that chick you've been making the last 2 replies to based on her comment/post...basically the person who we responded to in our last post; left this as a comment:

  16. I agree with everything you're saying, but after the second trimester, the baby is very real to me. I've seen my siblings on those monitors during their 3rd trimesters and they're as active as ever, it's hard not to perceive them as feeling pain or anything like that.
  17.
  18. In regards to insurance, the HIPPA laws state that insurance companies, as long as you make arrangements with them, need to keep any and all medical procedures private once you turn 18. Which means they don't need to go through the parents. Anyone under 18 seeking an abortion, I believe, should have to get the permission of their parents. It's a medical procedure. But, not all states require minors to obtain permission, New Hampshire being one of these states.
  19.
  20. As for the statistics you have provided, I think they are all valid reasons for having later abortions. I'm not saying a women can't have a late abortion, but when you get to your 3rd trimester you should have a pretty good idea of whether or not you are pregnant and want to keep the child. You have roughly 28 weeks to figure out you are pregnant and decide what you want to do, that's 5 months. I think it's bogus that people "didn't know" they were pregnant. Your body changes dramatically in the second trimester, including the loss of your period. Even if someone wanted to get an abortion after 28 weeks, like I said before, abortion clinics just won't do it. Which is why most of the time it is a medical need to have it done.
  21.
  22. Not to get graphic, but in order to have a 3rd trimester abortion, even late into the 2nd, they need to pretty much put you into labor and "deliver" the baby, it's called a D&E. It take a harsh physical toll on you. I'm not even sure if I have ever heard of anyone doing a 3rd trimester abortion, unless it had to be done by the doctor (deceased fetus, severe medical problem, etc.)
