- Mega Man X - Command Mission
- Platforms: PS2, GC
- Released:
- 29.07.2004 (J)
- 21.09.2004 (NA)
- 19.11.2004 (PAL)
- Based on: PAL PS2-version (SLES-52832)
- - The game stores all save files in one master save data file (99 kb).
- - When saving, the game automatically selects the most recent save file.
- Be careful not to overwrite the wrong one if you load up an older file.
- - The damage you deal is (ATP-DFP)*8.
- - No idea how damage from enemies is calculated.
- - There are three types of damage: Melee (C), Shot (S) and Neutral
- (sub weapons). There are separate defense stats for Melee and Shot,
- which are Armor and Shield.
- - As a result of the random variable, damage varies between roughly 90-110%.
- - A critical hit increases damage by roughly 4*Pow (not ATP).
- - Sub weapons may all have different damage formulas, but I haven't
- bothered trying to figure them out, as they're not very useful.
- - Enemies can be either Ground-type or Air-type. Many Ground-type enemies
- are resistant to shots one way or another, whereas melee and neutral
- attacks receive a heavy Accuracy penalty when used against aerial enemies.
- - There's no armor in the game. Instead, your weapons come with bonuses
- to Armor and Shield as well as a Speed penalty.
- - There are three elements: Fire, Water and Thunder.
- - There are no healing items or spells. Instead, you can heal your
- characters with energy from your Sub Tanks (as seen below). Each tank
- holds 100 units of energy. You'll obtain new tanks from some bosses
- and by finding Tank Parts (4 needed for a new tank).
- Single, 25% | 20
- Single, 50% | 33
- Single, 100% | 60
- All, 25% | 50
- All, 50% | 80
- All, 100% | 100
- - When a character levels up, their HP is fully restored. This allows
- you to save some tank energy.
- - Sub-weapons and Action Triggers consume Weapon Energy (WE). Each
- character generates 25 units of energy each turn (12 if they used
- Defend). Energy maxes at 100. Initial WE doesn't increase from leveling up.
- × The game refers to many sub weapons as "Panacea weapons," but what
- they mean is 'all-purpose weapon.'
- - Action Triggers are unique actions that each character has. They consume
- all WE and require at least 50 to be available.
- - Hyper Mode increases a character's stats for a limited amount of time.
- Each turn in Hyper Mode consumes 1 Hyper Point. Each character has a
- certain amount of Hyper Points that can only be increased with the Build
- Hyper item, which is available in limited numbers. Hyper Points can be
- restored at a recovery point and by using the Gain Hyper item (found on
- the field and dropped by a couple of enemies). Leveling up also restores
- them.
- - Each character has a certain, fixed number of slots for Force Metals
- (FM) that serve the purpose of accessories. Most FMs come with an Erosion
- figure. If the total Erosion exceeds the character's Erosion Resistance,
- the character may receive penalties to their HP and WE generation.
- Specifically, the character's max HP may be multiplied by 0,5; 0,25;
- or even 0,05. and WE generation by 0,5 or 0,25.
- × Erosion>ER: Alert (small chance of penalty)
- × Erosion>1,5*ER: Warning (very high chance of penalty)
- - You can carry up to 9 of any item.
- - Exp is divided between all characters in the party, including the ones
- in the reserve. Characters who are behind in levels will receive a greater
- share.
- - You won't see how much FME you're getting from battles until C5.
- - Stealing one item from an enemy doesn't prevent you from stealing the
- other item. Likewise, it's possible for an enemy to drop two items at
- the same time.
- - When using Analyze, the stolen and dropped items are not listen in any
- particular order.
- - If you run away from battle, you'll still gain spoils from any enemies
- you killed, although Exp is reduced to 25%.
- - Dead characters are revived with 1 HP at the end of a battle.
- - The game tries to give you a seizure at the beginning of every boss.
- You know what to do.
- - When playing in PAL, you have to multiply your play time by 1,2 to get
- the accurate figure (the resolution is optimized, but the frame rate isn't).
- - You can turn off the sound effects and music, but not the voice acting.
- Accordingly, you may want to consider getting the Japanese version (or
- just play the game on mute like I do).
- - You can return to the title screen by pressing Select while the game
- is paused.
- - You can skip scenes by pressing and holding either X or Start. Using
- Start will skip consecutive scenes.
- - When sorting sub weapons or Force Metals in the equip screen, pressing
- left and right will scroll two pages instead of one. I can't imagine
- this being intentional.

- - You can leave the menu screen instantly by pressing O.
- - You can pan the camera left and right with the second analog stick
- (reversed - can't be unreversed), but it's fairly slow, so you'll want
- to use L2/R2 when you need greater movement.

- - The vending machine here gives you figurines if you have the right
- passwords. The passwords are different for each version, and it just so
- happens that the passwords for the PAL version are unknown, so... Yeah...
- It's not a big deal, though, as these figurines aren't required for
- the figurine Challenge.
- - Note that Power Charge only affects one hit (ie. it won't affect all
- hits in a multi-hit attack) and even affects actions that don't deal
- any damage (such as stealing). The charge is also lost if you miss.

- - You'll want Water resistance for the next boss. Get two WE +5s for
- Spider and a Thunder Missile as well. If you need money, just head on
- to Tianna Camp. It's fairly easy to take out Zennydroppers with the
- Scope Buster. Spider might hit them too with the Eagle Eye.
- - Use the teleport service to return to previous dungeons.

- Massimo Plus (Unique)
- PC: Massimo Lv1
- - You can return to base by using the teleporter or any save point.
- [SkipScene020]. Proceed.
- - Save Point.
- - Massimo natively takes 150% damage from elemental attacks. A +1
- increase in enough to bring it down to 100%. He also has a fairly low
- native chance of countering attacks.
- - Now that you have 3 characters, you can use Final Strike, which allows
- you to finish off enemies if you take out 75% of their cHP in a single
- turn. I don't really it use it much, since I'm usually going for double Exp.
- - You can get more time for Final Strike by triggering it for multiple
- enemies at the same time. One target only gives you 4 seconds, but every
- additional target gives you 2 seconds more, up to a maximum of 10.
- - The first areas have mostly the same enemies as Central Tower had.
- - Blowfish is likely to run away if it's the only enemy left.

- [SkipScene025]. Enter the Aqua Coliseum.

- [Boss]
- - 17 000 HP, W:T, A:W, 4000 Exp, 1000 Z
- - Tidal Wave deals 50% cHP damage, but tends to miss.
- - Eventually, he'll use Liquid Coating, which not only increases his
- damage output but also gives him a barrier chance (damage multiplied
- by 0,25).
- - You'll, of course, want to finish him off with the Jack of Hearts.

- [SkipScene027]
- \\\ Command Room ||
- - You can now deploy machines to find stuff in the areas you've been
- to. A lot of the stuff is for the Sky Room and, thus, inconsequential.
- Below you'll see actual items you can get at this time.
- × Central Tower: Figure Token, Figure Token, Figure Token
- × Lagrano Ruins: Tank Parts #4, Good Luck, Lagrano Key, Figure Token,
- Figure Token
- × Tianna Camp: Infinite Resist (Artifact), Tianna Key
- - I'm not sure whether the actual items count as 'items' or 'disks' or
- if it varies. In any case, the result of the deployment seems to be rolled
- before you even deploy. The items may have stat requirements, but I doubt
- they're high. Your main concern is whether the mech survives the trip
- or not (I doubt you can affect that either). All in all, the good stuff
- is not hard to get.
- - Once a mech has been deployed, you'll have to fight a certain number
- of battles for them to return. This is usually between 10-30 (can be
- more than 30 with the slowest mechs). Do the battles at Tianna Camp,
- since you can't warp to the Command Center from Lagrano. I do 15, then
- give it 5 more if that's not enough.
- - You start off with 3 machines: D-Shark, Patrol Dog and Sinedropper. New
- machines can be found in dungeons, although some of them are broken and
- require that you find a certain item to fix them first.
- - Since Lv10 is max and a mech can reach it in as few as 3 trips, you'll
- want to pay attention to how you level them up. Also note that, once
- you've found all the items in a given location, you can't dispatch mechs
- there anymore (even the Zenny is limited). Eventually, you won't be able
- to make any dispatches at all.
- - The Lagrano Key gives you access to the secret shops (as seen below).
- You can't afford the weapons yet but you can at least pick up a couple
- of Assassin Minds.
- \\\ Sky Room ||
- - Here you can view stats (like the number of battles and rate of items
- found), completed challenges, figurines, sketches, files, wallpapers,
- cinematic events and listen to tunes. You can also change the color of
- X's "scarf" (I use the blue one).
- - There are 36 challenges in total. Completing them doesn't seem to
- give you any actual items.
- Shop: \\\ Air City Shopping Arcade ||

- Blind Protection 80 Z

- - The Get + weapons would be okay if the effect actually stacked - but
- it doesn't. And some enemies are just plain immune to them.

- \\\ Gaudile Laboratory || C4
- Theft: Exodus (Preon Elite) \\\ Teleport Arrivals Area ||
- [SkipScene028]. Proceed.
- - Attacking a Mettaur with a melee attack will knock it over and leave
- it vulnerable to all attacks. This also multiplies their Exp by 1,5
- (but only if they survive and are actually knocked over).
- - Mettaur Commanders use Power Virus, which can inflict Virus on all
- characters.
- \\\ East Deck High Speed Lift Area ||
- Items: Figure Token, Figure Token, Cooler, Cure One, Vaccine Program
- Special: Preon (Mech)
- - A Pararoid that uses Parasite will still give you spoils as if it

- Lost & Found: Anti-Lock, Shock Lance (Radar Killer)
- - You shouldn't use the Gatling Buster if you're going for double Exp.
- - Neither the Shock Lance nor Shock Lance B actually seem to be able
- to Bind the enemy despite what the game claims.
- \\\ Central Analysis Room ||
- - Save Point.

- \\\ Eternal Forest ||
- - The Eternal Forest consists primarily of split paths, where you'll
- have to fight fixed battles in order to proceed. Regardless of which
- route you take, you'll always arrive at the Rare Item Storage Room,

- - Take the south door at RI Storage to get back to A1. If you want

- - Phase 1: 12 000 HP, 0 Exp/Z. Needles: 400 HP, 50 Exp.
- - Phase 2: 10 000 HP, 8000 Exp, 10 000 Z, Sub Tank, Virus Missile
- - Deals only S-type damage.
- - Wait until he drops his armor to use Mad Ecstasy before you attack
- (every 3 turns).
- - Give Massimo the Hawkeye.
- - Mad Cocktail targets all characters and can inflict Virus, Blind,
- Bind, or Berserk.
- - Tractor Nets aren't easy to come by, so try to steal that.
- - You should go with double Zenny instead of double Exp. Get Zenny +
- won't increase it any further (all bosses are probably immune to it).

- [SkipScene038]
- \\\ Command Center ||
- - You can now create Force Metals using FMG.
- - Cinnamon natively takes half damage from elemental attacks. Her Action
- Trigger allows her to heal the party. Quite useful, but I rarely use it
- myself since it requires you to rotate the analog stick quickly and,
- again, I'd prefer not to do that.
- - The only item you can get from dispatching to Gaudile Lab is a Generator.
- - If you want a double Exp weapon for Marino, go steal a Beam Wonder from
- the Rush Loaders in Eternal Forest (C3 / left 3 times).

- Items: Figure Token, Fire Guard, Figure Token, Build LE, 300 FME, 1000 Z,
- Ultra Blizzard
- Theft: Fire Guard, King of Diamonds (Gulpfast), Ultra Fire (Mega Mantor)
- Lost & Found: Ace of Clubs, Build Armor (Mega Mantor),
- Mega Fire (Super Tripuffer), Injector, Build LE (Preon Nurse)
- Fire Missile, Fire Star (Fire Glob)
- Special: Rush Loader (Mech)
- - Don't forget to use Attractor when needed.
- - Getting caught by the sensors is likely to result in an ambush.
- - Let the Preon Nurse run away and you'll have a decent chance of receiving
- the Injector (a rare drop when killed - not that rare with Good Luck).
- - Couldn't really figure out the damage formulas for Marino's shurikens,
- but I fixed up something that's close enough. In any case, they're not
- really worth using. Not even if the enemy is weak to the element.
- - Super Tripuffer's Exp and FME are multiplied by 1,5 when they're hit
- by a Fire-elemental attack.
- - Fire Glob's Exp is multiplied by 1,5 every time it's hit by fire (and

- - Zero has a low native chance of countering melee attacks.
- - Zero can learn two new moves for his AT. They're unlocked after you've
- performed moves a certain number of times with the AT.
- - One of the Force Metals requires you to do 16 hits with Zero's AT. If
- you're playing in PAL, you'll need to switch to NTSC for this one. In
- both versions, a full charge gives you 10 seconds (5 at 50%). However,
- inputting commands is a little slower in PAL, making 16 hits borderline
- impossible.
- - Killing a Rush Loader will make the other grow in size. This reduces

- [Credits - 4:06] (can't be skipped)
- - You can fight the super boss in the post-game, but I recommend you
- don't bother with it because of the massive grinding you have to do
- first. However, if you must do it for some reason, then read on.
- - You have two choices when it comes to maxing your levels: Mettaur
- Gigant and Chapter 10.
- × You have to kill the Mettaur Gigant 50 times to get one level. Takes
- about an hour. You'll also get some Build Shields, but they don't make
- much of a difference. Here's my setup:
- × Marino: Item Capture, Power Charge, Fire Resist, Fire Guard, Eagle Eye
- × Zero: Hawkeye, Power Charge, Fire Resist, Light as a Feather, End to All
- × Cinnamon: Hawkeye, Shot Absorber, Light as a Feather, Reverse Fire
- × Going through C10 gives you about 50k and takes about an hour. While
- it's slower, it does give you Build Speeds, which is the only stat-boost
- item that matters. You'll want your Speed to be above 100 for the last
- form of the super boss (120 is good)(the Boost items won't help you,
- as you'll be constantly dying).
- × Bear in mind, End to All doesn't work on bosses.
- × You can also go for a mix of the two, of course. Personally, I find
- repeating C10 much more tedious than fighting MG, but you really want
- that Speed, so...
- - Get all the stuff in deployment (including Zenny) while you're grinding
- (it's one of the Challenges).
- - You probably don't have Full Specs +10 and Protect +10 unlocked yet.
- Getting 200k dmaage is no problem with SFM Fragments, but 180 hits
- requires a specific setup. You need to use X in X Fire, Cinnamon in
- Iron Maiden and Axl in Stealth Mode. Use Axl's AT to initiate the FS.
- I do these with the Rabbids at Gaudile Lab.
