  14. - Beneath the surface, MMXCM is essentially a Breath of Fire game.
  15. - The game stores all save files in one master save data file (99 kb).
  16. - When saving, the game automatically selects the most recent save file.
  17. Be careful not to overwrite the wrong one if you load up an older file.
  18. - The damage you deal is (ATP-DFP)*8.
  19. - No idea how damage from enemies is calculated.
  20. - There are three types of damage: Melee (C), Shot (S) and Neutral
  21. (sub-weapons). There are separate defense stats for Melee and Shot,
  22. which are Armor and Shield.
  23. - As a result of the random variable, damage varies between roughly 90-110%.
  24. - A critical hit increases damage by roughly 4*Pow (not ATP).
  25. - Sub-weapons may all have different damage formulas, but I haven't
  26. bothered trying to figure them out, as they're not very useful.
  27. - Enemies can be either Ground-type or Air-type. Many Ground-type enemies
  28. are resistant to shots one way or another, whereas melee and neutral
  29. attacks receive a heavy Accuracy penalty when used against aerial enemies.
  30. - There's no armor in the game. Instead, your weapons come with bonuses
  31. to Armor and Shield as well as a Speed penalty.
  32. - There are three elements: Fire, Water and Thunder.
  33. - There are no healing items or spells. Instead, you can heal your
  34. characters with energy from your Sub Tanks (as seen below). Each tank
  35. holds 100 units of energy. You'll obtain new tanks from some bosses and
  36. by finding Tank Parts (4 needed for a new tank).

  43. - When a character levels up, their HP is fully restored. This allows
  44. you to save some tank energy.
  45. - Sub-weapons and Action Triggers consume Weapon Energy (WE). Each
  46. character generates 25 units of energy each turn (12 if they used Defend).
  47. Energy maxes at 100. Initial WE doesn't increase from leveling up.
  48. × The game refers to many sub-weapons as "Panacea weapons," but what
  49. they mean is 'all-purpose weapon.'
  50. - Action Triggers are unique actions that each character has. They consume
  51. all WE and require at least 50 to be available.
  52. - Hyper Mode increases a character's stats for a limited amount of time.
  53. Each turn in Hyper Mode consumes 1 Hyper Point. Each character has a
  54. certain amount of Hyper Points that can only be increased with the Build
  55. Hyper item, which is available in limited numbers. Hyper Points can be
  56. restored at a recovery point and by using the Gain Hyper item (found on
  57. the field and dropped by a couple of enemies). Leveling up also restores
  58. them.
  59. - Each character has a certain, fixed number of slots for Force Metals
  60. (FM) that serve the purpose of accessories. Most FMs come with an Erosion
  61. figure. If the total Erosion exceeds the character's Erosion Resistance,
  62. the character may receive penalties to their HP and WE generation.
  63. Specifically, the character's max HP may be multiplied by 0,5; 0,25; or
  64. even 0,05. and WE generation by 0,5 or 0,25.
  65. × Erosion>ER: Alert (small chance of penalty)
  66. × Erosion>1,5*ER: Warning (very high chance of penalty)
  67. - You can carry up to 9 of any item.
  68. - Exp is divided between all characters in the party, including the ones
  69. in the reserve. Characters who are behind in levels will receive a greater
  70. share.
  71. - You won't see how much FME you're getting from battles until C5.
  72. - Stealing one item from an enemy doesn't prevent you from stealing the
  73. other item. Likewise, it's possible for an enemy to drop two items at
  74. the same time.
  75. - When using Analyze, the stolen and dropped items are not listen in any
  76. particular order.
  77. - If you run away from battle, you'll still gain spoils from any enemies
  78. you killed, although Exp is reduced to 25%.
  79. - Dead characters are revived with 1 HP at the end of a battle.
  80. - The game tries to give you a seizure at the beginning of every boss.
  81. You know what to do.
  82. - When playing in PAL, you have to multiply your play time by 1,2 to get
  83. the accurate figure (the resolution is optimized, but the frame rate isn't).
  84. - You can turn off the sound effects and music, but not the voice acting.
  85. Accordingly, you may want to consider getting the Japanese version (or
  86. just play the game on mute like I do).
  87. - You can return to the title screen by pressing Select while the game
  88. is paused.
  89. - You can skip scenes by pressing and holding either X or Start. Using
  90. Start will skip consecutive scenes.
  91. - When sorting sub-weapons or Force Metals in the equip screen, pressing
  92. left and right will scroll two pages instead of one. I can't imagine this
  93. being intentional.

  518. - You can now deploy machines to find stuff in the areas you've been
  519. to. A lot of the stuff is for the Sky Room and, thus, inconsequential.
  520. Below, you'll see actual items you can get at this time.

  525. - I'm not sure whether the actual items count as 'items' or 'disks' or
  526. if it varies. In any case, the result of the deployment seems to be rolled
  527. before you even deploy. The items may have stat requirements, but I doubt
  528. they're high. Your main concern is whether the mech survives the trip
  529. or not (I doubt you can affect that either). All in all, the good stuff
  530. is not hard to get.
  531. - Once a mech has been deployed, you'll have to fight a certain number
  532. of battles for them to return. This is usually between 10-30 (can be more
  533. than 30 with the slowest mechs). Do the battles at Tianna Camp, since you
  534. can't warp to the Command Center from Lagrano. I do 15, then give it 5
  535. more if that's not enough.
  536. - You start off with 3 machines: D-Shark, Patrol Dog and Sinedropper. New
  537. machines can be found in dungeons, although some of them are broken and
  538. require that you find a certain item to fix them first.
  539. - Since Lv10 is max and a mech can reach it in as few as 3 trips, you'll
  540. want to pay attention to how you level them up. Also note that, once
  541. you've found all the items in a given location, you can't dispatch mechs
  542. there anymore (even the Zenny is limited). Eventually, you won't be able
  543. to make any dispatches at all.
  544. - The Lagrano Key gives you access to the secret shops (as seen below).
  545. You can't afford the weapons yet, but you can at least pick up a couple
  546. of Assassin Minds.

  1749. - You can fight the super boss in the post-game, but I recommend you
  1750. don't bother with it, because of the massive grinding you have to do
  1751. first. However, if you must do it for some reason, then read on.
  1752.  
  1753. - You have two choices when it comes to maxing your levels: Mettaur
  1754. Gigant and Chapter 10.
  1755. - You have to kill the Mettaur Gigant 50 times to get one level. Takes
  1756. about an hour. You'll also get some Build Shields, but they don't make
  1757. much of a difference. Here's my setup:
  1758. × Marino: Item Capture, Power Charge, Fire Resist, Fire Guard, Eagle Eye
  1759. × Zero: Hawkeye, Power Charge, Fire Resist, Light as a Feather, End to All
  1760. × Cinnamon: Hawkeye, Shot Absorber, Light as a Feather, Reverse Fire
  1761. - Going through C10 gives you about 50k and takes about an hour. While
  1762. it's slower, it does give you Build Speeds, which is the only stat-boost
  1763. item that matters. You'll want your Speed to be above 100 for the last
  1764. form of the super boss (120 is good)(the Boost items won't help you, as
  1765. you'll be constantly dying).
  1766. × Bear in mind, End to All doesn't work on bosses.
  1767. - You can also go for a mix of the two, of course. Personally, I find
  1768. repeating C10 much more tedious than fighting MG, but you really want
  1769. that Speed, so...
  1770.  
  1771. - Get all the stuff in deployment (including Zenny) while you're grinding
  1772. (it's one of the Challenges).
  1773. - You probably don't have Full Specs +10 and Protect +10 unlocked yet.
  1774. Getting 200k damage is no problem with SFM Fragments, but 180 hits
  1775. requires a specific setup. You need to use X in X Fire, Cinnamon in
  1776. Iron Maiden and Axl in Stealth Mode. Use Axl's AT to initiate the FS.
