I threw myself high into the air, until I was all but floating amidst black wings. They seemed to flap in slow motion around me, the beat of each wing exaggerated by my accelerated perceptions. I flipped in midair, motions guided by Levant’s gentle hands, and landed in a slight crouch upon the first Nevermore’s beak.
