Notes:
This is largely the optimal route (https://pastebin.com/CsFTBNR4), with the major adjustments being ocean gossips replacing swamp gossips and Light Arrows early.  Ocean gossips is a much more consistent alternate exit strat than swamp gossips, and is likely preferable for newer players who care more about getting runs going than having optimal segments.  Moving Light Arrows significantly reduces the time burden on the player (as discussed below).

If you're coming from the any% category, many of your strats will carry over, though this category contains a fair number of unique tricks.  Below, I've provided links to a number of videos demonstrating the strats that are relevant to this route.  Additionally, I would strongly recommend watching through the world record (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr9y7y0hlTU as of this writing) and studying anything that isn't familiar (it's also helpful that TrevPerson uses an input display).  Additionally, the Majora's Mask learning discord is an excellent resource for getting help with tricks you don't understand (if you need an invite, feel free to message me (SeedBorn) or TrevPerson).

In game time plays a significant role in this route.  This may present a challenge to runners who have never had to deal with igt-heavy segments in speedruns before.  There are 3 main places where igt is a concern:

1. Aliens
From the start of cycle 2 night 1 you're on the clock to make it to aliens in time.  This route has you SoDT in front of Mayor's Office, which is as late as the route allows.  The aliens will win at 3:49; you want to be at the barn in advance of that to be able to defeat the entire wave.

Some benchmark times to have a successful aliens:
Milk Road by 3:15
Enter ranch by 3:30

Now, luckily there are a number of backups to this.  If you're entering the ranch with not quite enough time, you can do time stop at the gossip stone by the entrance.  This will buy you ~6 igt minutes, at the cost of ~9-10s of real time.  This trick can easily save a segment.

If you're more significantly off target, either because your play is slower due to lack of experience or because you made some costly mistake, inverting is an option.  Generally speaking, you want to invert as late as possible and stay inverted for as short a time as possible, because any time inverted is pushing back the segment and costing you time.  Figuring out when to invert/uninvert is a skill you'll build as you do runs.

2. Stone Tower Temple
In the optimal route, STT is done in its entirety immediately after Couple's Mask.  This segment can give even veteran players difficulty.  Luckily, it's not much slower to obtain Light Arrows early, as this route does.  This means that you're only on the clock for ISTT.  Still, in order to give yourself enough time, you want to obtain Couple's Mask as early as possible.  The mask first becomes at available at 4:30 am (1:30 remaining on the clock); the goal is to arrive at that time.  In order to do this, you'll need to invert sometime after finishing Sakon's Hideout.  Completing the hideout sets the in game time to midnight, which gives you 4.5 in game hours to obtain Stone Mask, Captain's Hat, Odolwa's Remains and Mask of Scents before returning to Clock Town.  With optimal play you would need to invert during the butler race; beginners are likely to need a much earlier invert timing.  My suggestion is to try running this segment for practice and see how your timing works out, then plan the invert based on your own pace.  While time is inverted, ISTT can be done in roughly 35 in game minutes with optimal play, so it's alright if you're a little late to Couple's Mask.  That said, try and leave yourself a buffer.

3. Blast Mask
Blast Mask is the final segment where you may be squeezed by igt.  In order for wallet dupe to work, one has to SoDT to night 1 in wct, so from there you're on the clock.  The Blast Mask event occurs at 12:20 -- the goal is to obtain Mask of Truth and Don Gero's Mask in that time.  If you're able to do that, the fairy and Milk Bar things in ect can be put off until after Blast Mask, giving you a reasonable buffer.  With optimal play it's possible to be early to Blast Mask, so this segment may not be an issue.  That said, if you're not on pace to make it back to Clock Town by 12:20, inverting is going to be the solution.  Make sure to uninvert before the Blast Mask segment, as Sakon will move slowly if time is inverted.
