  1. Hello Carmine, and welcome to a brand new broadcast of your favorite radio show: Carmine Community Radio. The night is quiet. Still— Except… for the consistent drone of construction that has been going on for seasons. Quiet, Still, and Droning. Some say that is the sound of space. A dull roar. Like palkia itself is touring you around the basement it’s just installed. Jupiter is Palkia’s pool table. Pluto is it’s jukebox. Nothing’s playing. All is still, after all.
  2.
  3. My husband might not like that metaphor so I’ll cut it before it gets out of hand. Anyways— good evening Toro! Welcome to the show. I’m not going to show you around my basement, I’m going to deliver the news. Because that’s what you listen for. The news.
  4. ———————
  5. First off, there’s been a string of sightings- hm. There’s been a string of encounters— *sigh* there’s been a string of attacks plaguing Toro. Beasts from another dimension have been appearing through rifts. There doesn’t seem to be a commonality between these beasts other than the fact that they cause chaos where they appear and that they can be fought with pokemon. But, of course, do take caution when attacking, and make sure to only defend yourselves, and never provoke.
  6.
  7. Here is a press release that happened recently with more details on the subject:
  8.
  9. Following the recent recurrence at the luau of what we are calling a Paraspace Incursion Event, I want to explain where Toro currently stands and what we can do. I am the director of the recently-established Paraspace Research Initiative, or PRI. Several weeks ago, I created a temporary uncharged rotating black hole using the transmission towers originally created by the Black Knight and a variation on the process behind Toro’s city defense shields. Confirming the original mathematics behind the experiment, the result was an artificial portal into Paraspace that persisted for 10.87 seconds. Dion Ross, several faculty members of FPU’s Mathematics and Engineering departments, and myself are hard at work improving the system for greater stability. In time, we hope to be able to send and retrieve large objects through such a portal.
  10.
  11. I am telling you this because I have no right to keep it secret from my fellow citizens. Scientific endeavor has been a threat to Toro as much as it has been an asset. By keeping this in the light I hope to produce trust instead of suspicion. This must be a technology for public good rather than private gain. This is the second reason for this announcement. We need your help. Once the portal system is fully operational, we will use it to respond to current incursion events by exploring the space they come from. If necessary, we will remove threats at their source. If death has come knocking, then we are knocking back- and by we, I mean all of us. Volunteers will be appreciated. Our first response will be coordinated information gathering and exploration teams. We will then broaden the scope of our inquiry over time.
  12.
  13. While we search for solutions, we will need to protect Toro. I encourage everyone in the region to read William Blair’s recently-published bulletin on the entities that have so far emerged from Paraspace. We also encourage you to report any sightings of these creatures to him and to us. His information is useful and comprehensive, and should help us get through these challenges. In contrast to his preferred nomenclature, we have termed the creatures Paramon, as in Parallel Pokemon, and their origins Paraspace. We feel this is a more accurate reflection of the situation. These creatures do not exist in “another dimension”, but in another universe separated from ours- arguably by a distance in a spatial dimension previously unknown to us, but even in this interpretation it would be inappropriate to call their realm another dimension. For example by analogy, Aurelia is not a road, but a city separated from Cobalt by a road.
  14.
  15. Our response to these creatures is much more important than what we call them. They can appear almost anywhere without warning. So far, all have demonstrated significant capabilities. Please prioritize your safety first. Ultimately, I hope we can bring peace to Toro and establish a permanent facility for exploration of Paraspace, open to all- with safety guidelines of course. PRI will provide ongoing project status updates. Volunteers can write to Adamas PO Box 42. We are looking for explorers, trainers to protect the facility and our investigations, artists to help us communicate our findings, and other help as you can offer it. For those of you whose skills are not immediately related to this project, your help is no less necessary. Explorers can do nothing without a region to return to. Holding Toro together in these difficult times is also an act of struggle. Together we can reach a brighter future. We can connect across realities rather than fight. Paraspace can be a new horizon, not for conflict, but for knowledge. For hope. Getting there, and getting to this future, will require everyone’s best. I promise I will do mine.
  16.
  17. And now, a few listener submissions about these encounters.
  18.
  19. “Well, me and my boyfriend decided to sneak into the creepy mansion outside of Tyrian.” One listener said, now, the creepy mansion is a place I’m very familiar with, and I can confirm that is quite the romantic destination, so I see the motivation in this. They continue, “He said that there was a ghost that played the organ in the church at night. Once we got in there it was pretty creepy alright, but the only ghosts we came across was the pokemon kind. Lots of gengars.. a few mimikyus.. the standard stuff.” Hmmm. Yes. Standard indeed. "But then we got to finally exploring the church and when we entered it was pretty empty and quiet.. then at the strike of midnight it seemed like a rip in reality opened! It was weird, a portal opened up and a purple looking creature came out. I don't know if it was just a ghost type playing a trick on us or if it really something from another world. Either way once it left the portal it began to cackle at us, we both ran out and haven't been back." Now, listeners, if you’re suspicious about believing this story, I was too, at first. After all, ghost-types are known to be very mischievous, malevolent, and straight-up bastards. But, this does seem to be in line with other accounts of these Paramon. The so-called “rip in reality” definitely seems in line the practice of the other beasts. And while I don’t believe anyone’s reported a purple creature like this before, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was one of these Paramon

  21. Another loyal… viewer, shared this experience with me: ”While flying over the jungle west of Tyrian, my rad B F and I landed at a nice bamboo forest to give our Pokemon a break. My foot hit against some metal feeling rod from the ground though, and because we're both curious scientists, we decided to dig it up and check it out.
  22.
  23. Anyways then it turned out to be a 30 ft - or probably bigger - Pokemon, one we never seen before, and one my Pixdex wouldn't pick up. It was a QUEEN, with the metal spike being a tiara that rested upon it's long flowy hair. It had two detached arms that were also buried along that resembled bamboo, but with aerial-fins and exhaust pipes at the bottom. From out of their pipey fingers some sort of energy shot out of it, and propelled it up and to space!! It was a beautiful rocket and I love her and worship her now.
  24.
  25. We don't know how it got there, or how long it's been, but it seemed happy to be freed. It was overall neutral to our presence, even while we dug it out, and especially when we let it free. So. Maybe they aren't all so bad??? Then again, it didn't come out of a weird wormhole, and I didn't see it leaving in one, so it might be unrelated and we just released some ancient god... but it totally fits the otherworldly aesthetic, so oh well.
  26.
  27. ALSO !! Shout outs to Resilience , Toro's best band!! " I don’t really know what a lot of that means. I try to stay hip with the youth, but a lot of that was nonsense.
  28. ———————
  29. And now, a word from some of our sponsors. Today’s sponsors are starboks coffee, the seven of cups, the letter g, and Squarespace.
  30.
  31. Additionally, we have a statement from the Carmine Artisan’s Guild about their whole deal.
  32.
  33. “It’s cool!”
  34.
  35. That’s it. That’s the statement. They send that in all formally with nice stationery and calligraphed the two words “It’s cool” to send in when prompted by the station for a statement. So you heard it here first Toro. It’s cool. It speaks for itself. So come on down to the artisan's guild building in Carmine and speak with Wilde or Sakura if you want help with your artsy events, or to connect with other artists!
  36. ———————
  37. Beyond that, I have some very exciting news regarding the rebuilding of Carmine. The city of Carmine is throwing a charity gala in support of the fundraising necessary to fix our beloved town after the disaster that struck all those years ago. June 1st, we’ll hold this Carmine Gala at the LeGrand Hotel in Aurelia, and you’re all invited, dear listeners! This will be a night of luxury and art all in the name of the new Carmine we hope to carry these traits with us into the city. The night will be hosted by yours truly, and there will be perks for the biggest donors of the night, so bring your checkbooks and charitable spirits, Toro.
  38. ———————
  39. Now, a reminder to all the rising pokemon trainers out there, the Carmine Gym is still open. Even with our dust in construction, my Gym is still fully operating and functional! So especially if you’re part of the rising generation of Pokémon trainers out there, try your hand at a battle for a change fissure badge and to prove you have what it takes to best the best.
  40. ———————
  41. And now, to close us off, our Pokemon of the Day. Our pokémon of the day is Wishiwashi. Wishiwashi is an interesting pokemon from the unique land of Alola. Wishiwashi’s ability, Schooling, allows it to gather into a school of Wishiwashi and fight together. Now, by official battle standards, fighting with multiple pokemon at once would be considered an illegal move, but due to Wishiwashi’s unique nature, this is allowed. When in its schooled form, it’s known as the “demon of the sea” and is quite a dangerous competitor. It’s a water type and can be commonly found swimming in the oceans around Toro, so look out for this pokemon when swimming, or you might just get schooled!
  42. ———————
  43. Finally, this space was allotted for a eulogy. For a great man. But now, we’re beyond that Toro. After the events of the Fundraiser Luau, we can no longer call this man dead or alive. Frankly I’m not sure what his status is at the moment. But Vincent LeGrand— rather, the creature using his body, poses a great threat to Toro. But there is a solution.
  44.
  45. Tapu Koko, the island guardian from Alola, has blessed Toro with it’s guidance. It was instrumental in helping defend the Luau from the beast’s destructive attack. And it has blessed us with a generous gift. From Alola, it has brought us z-stones, powerful artifacts that can enhance pokemon moves. I was given one of these stones, and I hope to try it out, and to foster a new era of defense for Toro. If my testing with these Z-Moves turns out prosperous, then I believe these will be instrumental in the security of our region.
  46.
  47. More on this as it develops.
  48.
  49. So that’s it, Toro.Other than that, Go out and be your best self, Toro, and I hope you have a great night Toro.
