  1. RE8:
  2.
  3. General Mechanics complaints:
  4.
  5. - Shooting is really poor, at least on controller. There's a distinct delay purposely inserted into the game, and aiming feels floaty also. Even with the acceleration options turned off. Hitting fast targets feels horrible.
  6.
  7. - I still hate blocking. I'd rather have a dodge. Blocking giving you mandatory damage with no way to do a perfect block to take no damage is a poor system.
  8.
  9. - Up the movement speed. With enemies this fast there really is no reason we should still move like a snail.
  10.
  11. - Did you really have to make the Knife so shit? RE4 had the best Knife in the series (not too weak, not too strong, takes a lot of skill to use effectively), this has one of the worst and worthless.

  14.
  15.
  16. Village/Castle:
  17.
  18. Best areas of the game, felt the most like Resident Evil.
  19.
  20. Offered a decent amount of exploration and I liked the environment.
  21.
  22. Main gripes with the Village were the 5 minutes of nothing at the start and it then starting with a siege section. People were comparing this to RE4 but... RE4 gave you a lot of ways to control a crowd very easily and you move much faster than the Ganados. There it works fine, here... it just doesn't. I didn't care for it. If anything it only highlights the poor combat of the game. See: Shooting is really poor above.
  23.
  24. Main gripes with the Castle were Dimitrescu blocking you in certain instances -- her entire body blocks certain corridors in some instances and her collision is very wide, so if you run into a dead end with her right behind you then you're basically screwed since she's totally invincible.
  25.
  26. Also, I feel the minibosses came far too early in the Castle, and I didn't really care for the Dimitrescu boss fight.
  27.
  28.
  29. House Beneviento:
  30.
  31. This is basically the Lucas section of the game. Very little gameplay outside of solving puzzles, and in repeat playthroughs this area is very boring as you can circumvent a lot of it by remembering the code. This area really suffers the most in-game because once you've done it once... it feels almost pointless to ever do it again because there is no way to fail at it.
  32.
  33. Boss fight also kinda sucks.
  34.
  35.
  36. Moreau's Reservoir:
  37.
  38. Easily the worst area in the game without a doubt, for first playthroughs and repeat playthroughs. This is the area that makes me feel as though this game had an identity crisis in that it doesn't know what it wants to be.
  39.
  40. The Village and Castle felt very classic Resident Evil, Beneviento's area whilst it played very differently still kept its horror atmosphere whereas this area is... I don't get it. You can't even say it's trying to "be RE4" because this section literally has almost no gameplay, it's an on-rails set of "puzzles" (which proceed very linearly anyway so they aren't really puzzles) and then ends with a boss (which I did like).
  41.
  42.
  43. Stronghold:
  44.
  45. This area is basically a set of enemy arenas with a boss at the very back of it. The nice thing is you can completely circumvent the fights because killing anything here isn't mandatory, besides the boss.
  46.
  47. Though once again... enemy arenas only highlight the poor combat of the game, and they don't fit *this* game. RE4 had them and they worked because... you have a lot of ways to control crowds very easily even with just a pistol/knife, without needing to go in with a ton of mines/pipe bombs/shotgun ammo spare, like in this game.
  48.
  49.
  50. Factory:
  51. Liked this area. My biggest complaint is just the over abundance of enemies, and the sometimes horrible areas to fight them in. The main enemy was also kind of... dumb and easily exploitable.
  52.
  53. Hated the boss fight of this area (Mr. Fan basically)
  54.
  55. The other boss on the turret was also just kind of... gimmicky.
  56.
  57.
  58. Chris Redfield's Section:
  59. I didn't mind this section. Chris' gun is so OP it might as well be on rails though honestly lol.
  60.
  61. Boss arena was a bit shit.
  62.
  63.
  64. Final Boss was trash.
  65.
  66. In conclusion:
  67.
  68. Strongest Areas: Village / Castle.
  69. Weakest Area: Moreau's Reservoir / House Beneviento.
  70. Worst Boss: The Final One.
  71. Best Boss: Moreau.
  72. Scariest Area (First Time): House Beneviento.
