  1. [5:36 PM] Chaineh: I am here and I'll be on standby. Ping me when I ready. ^_^
  2. [5:56 PM] FinalRest: Is the meeting now or in an hour? Daylight savings switched over here a couple days ago and now I dunno which way is up
  3. [6:01 PM] Chaineh: i think it's right now
  4. [6:01 PM] Chaineh: @KeybladeSpyMaster
  5. [6:02 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Here. Sorry, I just got in a bit ago.
  6. [6:02 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Test
  7. [6:02 PM] KSMTest: Test
  8. [6:04 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: We're starting right now, @FinalRest
  9. [6:05 PM] FinalRest: Righto, I'm here
  10. [6:06 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I really should just make a permanent second account that I can test things around with...
  11. [6:08 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Anyways, so we're here: http://www.khdatabase.com/KHDatabase:The_King%27s_Council#Meeting_04_Agenda
  12. [6:08 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I just realized I put October 19, 2018 there instead of today's date... Oops.
  13. [6:09 PM] Chaineh: close enough.
  14. [6:09 PM] Chaineh: should we clear the chat up until this point?
  15. [6:09 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I disabled message history for the Keyblade Wielder role. The history shouldn't be visible before my message where I pinged FR a few minutes ago.
  16. [6:11 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: That's what I was testing right now. Making sure that previous discussions couldn't be seen
  17. [6:11 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, first thing, update on our application to join the Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance (SEIWA)
  18. [6:12 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: We were rejected.
  19. [6:13 PM] FinalRest: Huh. any reasons given?
  20. [6:14 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Yeah. We're competing with the KHWiki, and they don't like that. Literally all the opposed votes are KHWiki staff.
  21. [6:14 PM] FinalRest: Oh haha
  22. [6:14 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: (You have to remove one vote in each letter, Tacopill voted each letter to set it up)
  23. [6:15 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, it was 2 in favor, 1 for affiliation, and 3 opposed.
  24. [6:15 PM] Chaineh: A is just me and KSM
  25. [6:15 PM] Chaineh: C is KHWiki staff
  26. [6:15 PM] Chaineh: and I think B was Pea?
  27. [6:15 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: No, B was this kid I met at Grifkuba. Really nice and all, but he's not affiliated with any of us.
  28. [6:16 PM] Chaineh: oh yeah
  29. [6:16 PM] FinalRest: So is that done and dusted or do you reapply somehow or have other plans....
  30. [6:17 PM] Chaineh: To explain it better, we basically have duplicate information, and if someone were to edit both wikis, we'd have copyright issues. Which I understand.
  31. [6:17 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I think it's pretty much done. So long as the KHWiki is the majority and the staff remains the same (which it's been the same since the Fall of Adam), we've got no chance of being admitted
  32. [6:18 PM] Chaineh: (Creation of Adam dare I say?)
  33. [6:18 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: This was the last argument made: "Here are my thoughts on why duplicate coverage isn't ideal: SEIWA has limited resources, right? If we are doing a cross-wki weekend, or just encouraging cross-edits in general, I don't see the value in encouraging users to spend time working on duplicate coverage when those efforts could be going toward information that SEIWA doesn't already cover. Should we create a second Square Enix Wiki, and spend time doubling up content that already exists on the first one (written in a new way), or is that time better spent adding *new* coverage, such as a Final Fantasy Wiki? My personal opinion is the latter."
  34. [6:19 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Actually, no one brought up copyrights, which I guess I could understand had they done so.
  35. [6:21 PM] FinalRest: So we'll just be a rogue wiki then. Rebels with a cause
  36. [6:21 PM] Chaineh: Duplicate edits, copywrites, same thing.
  37. [6:22 PM] Chaineh: Batman intensifies
  38. [6:23 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So yeah. I'll be honest, I'm pretty bitter about the whole thing, but there's literally nothing that can be done about it, so we move on.
  39. [6:23 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: skeySHRUG
  40. [6:24 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, next.
  41. [6:24 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Update on new partners who have graciously lent us their content (yay!)
  42. [6:25 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, we've reached out to, and now have been given permission from, these awesome people to use their content:
  43. [6:25 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: 13thVessel's findings as he datamines the games.
  44. [6:25 PM] Chaineh: https://twitter.com/ligero_miguel
  45. [6:26 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Goldpanner's translations linked on her Wordpress https://khenglish.wordpress.com/
  46. [6:26 PM] Chaineh: (this one is limited, yes?)
  47. [6:27 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Yeah, just the ones linked on her page. Which, the last one there is from October 2016. And nothing from the novel translations or the KHX translation.
  48. [6:27 PM] FinalRest: Ooo 13thVessel is a cool get
  49. [6:28 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Which, the novel translations are all outdated now by the official localizations anyways.
  50. [6:28 PM] Chaineh: So we're a tad lucky in that regard
  51. [6:29 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: You reached out to the other two. Care to explain/discuss? @Chaineh
  52. [6:29 PM] Chaineh: Yeah!
  53. [6:29 PM] Chaineh: https://twitter.com/Roboloid
  54. [6:33 PM] Chaineh: Roboloid is someone who datamines KHuX stuff specifically. So we're free to use any of his images. Unfortunately, his only presence is on Twitter, which isn't good for images. (everything is given a white background and compresses the dickens out of it.) Also, he tends to use backgrounds for everything, so we'd use him mainly for guides and the like, not things like medal images. I'm going to be talking with another site (whose name i'll leave anonymous until I hear back) to get things like medal images and Higher-Quality images.
  55. [6:35 PM] Chaineh: https://twitter.com/KHWaterBlock
  56. [6:35 PM] Chaineh: Our next one is KHWaterblock
  57. [6:36 PM] Chaineh: He's mainly known for his Kingdom Hearts minecraft builds. If there's a KH-themed minecraft map, he's probably the one who made it.
  58. [6:37 PM] Chaineh: However, the reason we've contacted him is because he's recently uploaded all the KH background music to his Youtube channel.
  59. [6:37 PM] Chaineh: We have permission from him to download it and put it onto the database.
  60. [6:38 PM] Chaineh: He also has ties to KH13, and I've met him IRL, so we have good connections with him.
  61. [6:38 PM] Chaineh: However, the catch with this one is that he's not the one who extracted it from the game itself.
  62. [6:40 PM] Chaineh: Another (anonymous) user extracted it, KHWaterblock just converted it to a listenable file extension (.mp3) nad uploaded it to youtube.
  63. [6:41 PM] Chaineh: Since we'd have to edit the files anyway, (to cut them down to the 30 seconds to avoid copyright issues) we may just skip using KHWaterblock altogether and go straight to the source to convert/upload them.
  64. [6:41 PM] Chaineh: But for now, we have a friend on the outside in case that doesn't work.
  65. [6:41 PM] [BOT] Tron:: Congratulations, @Chaineh, you just advanced to level 19!
  66. [6:42 PM] Chaineh: That's everything I have on that matter.
  67. [6:42 PM] FinalRest: All very cool stuff
  68. [6:43 PM] Chaineh: Keep in mind, these aren't affiliations, they're just letting us use (with proper credit!) their stuff.
  69. [6:43 PM] Chaineh: we'll be using the {{information}} template on images/audio files like we do for KHWiki/KH13
  70. [6:46 PM] Chaineh: KSM, you wanna lead the next part?
  71. [6:46 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Sure. First, though.
  72. [6:46 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I wanted an opinion on an idea related to this.
  73. [6:48 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: These are definitely not affiliations, but I think it would be a good idea that we add their information/links in some way to their pages/sites/support pages on the Affiliates page. Since they're helping us by lending us their content, I think it's only fair that we also link back to all of their stuff beyond just in the information pages. What do you guys think?
  74. [6:49 PM] Chaineh: Agreed, plus it would be a good idea to keep track of whose permissions we have anyway.
  75. [6:51 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Excellent. I don't know if we have an idea how we want to label/differentiate them?
  76. [6:52 PM] Chaineh: A separate section with something like "in addition to our affiliates these kind souls have lent us their resources to help build our database."
  77. [6:56 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Cool!
  78. [6:56 PM] FinalRest: Yea, I reckon that'd suffice. Give it a separate section on the affiliates page. Maybe there's a name we can use to refer to them collectively... Sources? Contributors? Asset Donators?
  79. [6:57 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Friends?
  80. [6:57 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: It's not exactly affiliates, but similar?
  81. [6:57 PM] FinalRest: Ooo yeah that's cute! Friends of the Database
  82. [6:57 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Awesome
  83. [6:57 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, the next one.
  84. [6:57 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Update on projects (See Forum:Goals and Plans for 2019)
  85. [6:59 PM] Chaineh: http://www.khdatabase.com/Forum:Goals_and_Plans_for_2019
  86. [6:59 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, our coverage has been kinda slow, but how do you guys feel about our progress on it so far?
  87. [6:59 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: (I'm not trying to guilt-trip anyone, it's more of a review of where we're at and where we go from here to accomplish our goals)
  88. [7:01 PM] FinalRest: I feel like it's easy to look at that list and feel like there's so much we have yet to do, but tbh I find myself looking at the RC often and just being SO impressed by how much we have put together. Like that there is only 3-ish of us working and we have as much as we currently do is so freaking cool. Obviously the best goal would be to have more people to help out, but for the amount of us that are working there, I feel like we're maintaining a good pace
  89. [7:03 PM] Chaineh: I agree. I feel like our content is spread out, so it doesn't like very much, but we already have ALOT of KH3 content, and the content we do have is rather detailed.
  90. [7:03 PM] FinalRest: Totally agree
  91. [7:04 PM] Chaineh: We also have a very solid base. Our policies, organization and structure is very good.
  92. [7:04 PM] Chaineh: I think that's the part I take the most pride in.
  93. [7:04 PM] Chaineh: Our membership is low of course, but I think over time, we'll gain more people naturally. Even if it's only for a short period of time.
  94. [7:06 PM] Chaineh: Looking at that list at the very bottom. I'd say we have at least an example article for each of those things. I think the only exception is music.
  95. [7:07 PM] Chaineh: and considering we've only just gotten the KHWaterblock go-ahead, that's not much of an issue at the moment.
  96. [7:07 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Maybe it's just me. I'll be honest, I constantly feel like I could be doing more to add to the Database. I go several days kinda not adding anything, and I feel kinda guilty that I can't get myself to contribute. So I constantly feel like there's more I can do to help us reach our goals. But you guys are right in how impressive it is that we've gotten where we are so far with just us.
  97. [7:07 PM] Chaineh: Nevermind, we have the Face my Fears article.
  98. [7:08 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Like, we're still small, but at the same time, we're not the unknown site we were even just a year ago. That's pretty exciting. We're not where I had hoped (perhaps illogically) we'd be, but we've accomplished so much that I've yearned for years we would do. And I really do have to thank you guys for it all.
  99. [7:11 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I think the part I want to discuss the most, and which perfectly goes into the next part, is, how do we get more people interested in contributing? I think that's the part that would help us the most going forward.
  100. [7:13 PM] FinalRest: My two answers would be to increase fan engagement and keep up our own work. I feel like when we have more completed tasks to show, that gives people reason to check us out and think about contributing themselves. Fan engagement is to increase our presence in the fandom
  101. [7:16 PM] Chaineh: I think the only thing that we didn't accomplish is getting more people. But if you convert that "get 10 more regular editors" into "get 10 more friends/affiliates", then we've met everything on paper. As for expectations, I think alot of it was dependent on the idea that we'd have 10 more regular editors.
  102.
  103. Something that helps me is the idea that I personally need a break from writing every once in a while. If I don't want to write the article I'm working on, I tell myself that it can wait another day. I don't want to burn myself out (which turns that 3-day break into a 3-week break) and if I'm not having fun, then I'm not adhering to my personal beliefs. My effort goes to waste. As someone who is physically paying into the site, I'd say my money is well spent. (Especially since I can't do the HTML/CSS myself.)
  104. [7:17 PM] Chaineh: Big agree FR! I suggested to KSM that we should give updates on completed projects and such, so that people will remember to use us as a resource.
  105.
  106. For example, (not to toot my own horn) but I just finished putting tables into melding pages. (Lemme get a pic a minute)
  107. [7:19 PM] Chaineh: In Birth by Sleep, you can meld a good chunk of commands.
  108. [7:20 PM] Chaineh: This table lists: Every possible way to make it, who can make it, and all possible abilities result when adding an ore.
  109. [7:21 PM] Chaineh: If you can meld it, you're able to type that command onto the database and find out the best way to make it. They're all on there!
  110. [7:21 PM] Chaineh: </bragging>
  111. [7:22 PM] Chaineh: I think letting people know about this type of thing on social media would spark alot of interest. Especially considering there's not a table like this anywhere else.
  112. [7:22 PM] FinalRest: Brag away. As someone whose brain goes into static every time I try and wrap my head around all the melding possibilities, your work as been ultra impressive
  113. [7:22 PM] Chaineh: Even on our biggest unnamed competitor, you need to have two pages open to get this information.
  114. [7:23 PM] Chaineh: (Now the hard part is making the ability pages and listing all the possibilities to get that ability @-@)
  115. [7:24 PM] Chaineh: Thank you! I did it specifically because I saw a need for it. (Especially in my own playthrough)
  116. [7:24 PM] Chaineh: C̶o̶m̶b̶o̶ ̶P̶l̶u̶s̶ ̶h̶a̶s̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶1̶0̶0̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶e̶r̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶s̶i̶b̶i̶l̶i̶t̶i̶e̶s̶ ̶p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶e̶ ̶k̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶m̶e̶.̶
  117. [7:24 PM] FinalRest: I think it'd be neat to have a thread on the discord for things people are willing to promote. That way I can use it as a to do list for tumblr posts and KSM can do the same for twitter etc.
  118. [7:25 PM] FinalRest: So whenever someone finishes an article, or makes some art, or finds us a new affiliate, if you want it to be cross-posted to our social media stuff, you put it in that thread (or whatever threads are called on discord)
  119. [7:25 PM] Chaineh: Wouldn't be a bad idea.
  120. [7:26 PM] Chaineh: (Channel btw)
  121. [7:26 PM] FinalRest: (Ty)
  122. [7:27 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Oh, that's smart.
  123. [7:27 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Definitely agree we should do that.
  124. [7:28 PM] Chaineh: something like #social-media-queue
  125. [7:28 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I definitely agree with Chain that we should promote more the work we're doing, and I apologize that I keep not doing that. But that's be a great idea.
  126. [7:28 PM] Chaineh: for staff-only
  127. [7:29 PM] Chaineh: (I could be doing it too since I have access to both Twitter and Tumblr but don't post much there)
  128. [7:32 PM] Chaineh: On that note, I'd say: Good job team! Anything else to say on that agenda?
  129. [7:33 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Nope
  130. [7:33 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: You want to take the next one?
  131. [7:34 PM] Chaineh: Sure! Let me try to find the article a minute
  132. [7:35 PM] Chaineh: Okay, KSM, we're currently running on HTML4, yes?
  133. [7:35 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Hmmm... I believe MediaWiki's been built in HTML5
  134. [7:36 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: "The use of HTML5 by MediaWiki is controlled by $wgHtml5. This is set to true (output normal wiki pages as HTML5) by default, and has been the default on Wikimedia wikis since September 2012."
  135. [7:36 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Per https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/HTML5
  136. [7:37 PM] Chaineh: then why does <font> still work?
  137. [7:37 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: But I think you can still use code for HTML4 and such.
  138. [7:37 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: In actual wikitext.
  139. [7:38 PM] Chaineh: Are we in danger of that going away?
  140. [7:38 PM] Chaineh: That's what I got from the SEIWA discussion.
  141. [7:39 PM] Chaineh: If that is the case, tags like <b> and <font> will be obselete.
  142. [7:39 PM] Chaineh: So no <font color=red></font>
  143. [7:39 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Yeah, eventually those tags will be obsolete.
  144. [7:40 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I don't know when MediaWiki is planning to do that.
  145. [7:40 PM] Chaineh: I don't thing anyone uses <b> or <big> anymore.
  146. [7:40 PM] Chaineh: since we have '''text'''
  147. [7:40 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: "Some elements and attributes are supported by MediaWiki and browsers, but have been deprecated by HTML 5, and therefore should no longer be used."
  148. [7:40 PM] Chaineh: and we don't use <big> for anything.
  149. [7:40 PM] Chaineh: Cool.
  150. [7:41 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: This looks like a pretty helpful page in that regard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:HTML_in_wikitext
  151. [7:41 PM] Chaineh: So things we should be getting rid of are: <frame>, <center>, <b>, <font> and <big>.
  152. [7:41 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Along with this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:HTML_5[7:42 PM] Chaineh: This is the article I was looking at: https://www.educba.com/html-versus-html5/
  153. [7:42 PM] Chaineh: ooh, i like that 2nd article
  154. [7:43 PM] Chaineh: Huh. Neat. :/
  155. [7:44 PM] Chaineh: Anyway, stop using <frame>, <center>, <b>, <font> and <big>. This also means we'll eventually have to go through old pages and take out these tags.
  156. [7:44 PM] Chaineh: I say we do this ASAP, while we have few pages, and more time to do so.
  157. [7:44 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Yeah, big agree.
  158. [7:44 PM] FinalRest: Center is the only one I use, so what's the replacement?
  159. [7:45 PM] Chaineh: {{Center|text}}
  160. [7:45 PM] FinalRest: Wait I use font too, so what's the one?
  161. [7:45 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Officially, the replacements are:
  162. [7:45 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: <span style="text-align:center;"></span>
  163. [7:46 PM] Chaineh: <span style="color:red;">Content</span> OR {{font color|red|Content}}
  164. [7:46 PM] Chaineh: We just have to learn all the span stuff.
  165. [7:46 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: <span style="color:color code; font-family:font family name; font-size:font size;"></span>
  166. [7:46 PM] Chaineh: This article that KSM linked to earlier will help with that stuff: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:HTML_5
  167. [7:46 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: We would have to build the font color and center templates, I think, no?
  168. [7:46 PM] Chaineh: yes
  169. [7:46 PM] Chaineh: but they don't work on mobile so... not sure what to do about that?
  170. [7:47 PM] Chaineh: (maybe this will solve the gif resizing issue that's plaguing my Ars Arcanum page)
  171. [7:47 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I personally have gotten used to using the <span></span> and <div></div> tags the last couple months.
  172. [7:48 PM] Chaineh: If I was aware of it, I would've too
  173. [7:48 PM] Chaineh: I think <center> and <font> are the only ones we really have to worry about.
  174. [7:48 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Basically, the point is, if you're styling it, it should be in style="" attributes, not actual HTML tags. Styles should be in CSS, not HTML.
  175. [7:49 PM] Chaineh: Speaking of gif resizing, any word on that?
  176. [7:49 PM] Chaineh: Would it help to ask seiwa?
  177. [7:50 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I couldn't replicate your problem?
  178. [7:50 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: http://www.khdatabase.com/User:KeybladeSpyMaster/The_Grid#Gif_thumb_test
  179. [7:53 PM] Chaineh: I can't choose the size, you either get "full size" or "thumb size"
  180. [7:53 PM] Chaineh: I don't want the gray boarder around it either, but I want it smaller
  181. [7:53 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Ah, I see.
  182. [7:54 PM] Chaineh: But, we move on if we haven't made ground
  183. [7:54 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Yeah, I didn't. Sorry.
  184. [7:55 PM] Chaineh: All good, you were busy with literally every other possible thing. So, ya know. You're excused ;P
  185. [7:55 PM] Chaineh: Onto the last written item!
  186. [7:56 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Actually, there's two items. I just forgot the last one.
  187. [7:56 PM] Chaineh: Cool! (I also have a sub-point with the last written point)
  188. [7:58 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, next one's hopefully short. When we have have a name that's different in Japanese from English, which one should we use as the article title?
  189. [7:59 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Ex. The Aliens in Kingdom Hearts III are referred to as The Little Green Men in the Japanese version of the game, apparently.
  190. [7:59 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: At least, that's what it seems to be in the Ultimania.
  191. [8:00 PM] Chaineh: (or Magic Galvanizer vs Magic Combo Plus which makes way more sense wtf english translation team??)
  192. [8:00 PM] Chaineh: We're an English wiki, so english titles with {{nihongo}} template.
  193. [8:01 PM] Chaineh: If someone wants to create a JPKHDatabase, then they'd do the opposite
  194. [8:01 PM] FinalRest: As much as the KHX translations make me want to disagree, I think it should be English official names for our english wiki
  195. [8:02 PM] Chaineh: (I really want Magic Combo Plus dang it. CONSISTANCY. IT'S STRAIGHT FORWARD. IT MAKES SENSE. rips hair out)
  196. [8:02 PM] FinalRest: Just have the japanese names in the opening paragraph
  197. [8:03 PM] Chaineh: yup.
  198. [8:03 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Cool. Makes sense. Don't know why I didn't think of that.
  199. [8:03 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: XD
  200. [8:03 PM] Chaineh: Sweet! Mind if I commandeer the floor for a sub-point a second?
  201. [8:04 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Sure.
  202. [8:04 PM] Chaineh: Do we want to abbreviate worlds in images?
  203. [8:05 PM] Chaineh: ie: http://www.khdatabase.com/File:Sprite_Sora_CT_Valor_KHIIFM.png
  204. [8:05 PM] Chaineh: File: Sprite Sora CT Valor Form KHIIFM vs File: Sprite Christmas Town Valor Form KHIIFM
  205. [8:06 PM] Chaineh: ( I realize the word "Form" isn't in the actual file name, ill change that after the meeting)
  206. [8:07 PM] Chaineh: If we do, we need a list of all of the world abbreviations in the MoS. I think either KHWiki or The Keyhole has some.
  207. [8:08 PM] Chaineh: (Also, should the final name of that file actually be File:Sora Valor Form Sprite CT KHIIFM.png?)
  208. [8:08 PM] FinalRest: I like abbreviated, but maybe we could make it a case by case basis? Like if the file name is ridiculously long, or for worlds with two or three+ words in their name
  209. [8:09 PM] FinalRest: Wait, I mean I like UNabbreviated. I don't mind long file names
  210. [8:10 PM] Chaineh: So you prefer File:Sora Valor Form Sprite Christmas Town KHIIFM.png over File:Sora Valor Form Sprite CT KHIIFM.png?
  211. [8:11 PM] FinalRest: Yea
  212. [8:11 PM] Chaineh: Okay, cool! KSM, any thoughts on that?
  213. [8:12 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I actually do prefer the longer name, too. I did so in the various form images for KHIII.
  214. [8:13 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: If we really want the abbreviations, though, I'm down for making an abbreviation list. I'm ultimately okay either way.
  215. [8:15 PM] Chaineh: I say we keep the longer names. So that we shall do! (Since 3/3 staff members agree)
  216. [8:15 PM] Chaineh: Cool. Next item?
  217. [8:16 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Awesome. Last item I have is this idea you may have already seen.
  218. [8:16 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: http://www.khdatabase.com/User:KeybladeSpyMaster/The_Grid#SNOW_Alliance
  219. [8:18 PM] Chaineh: gets rejected from SEIWA "Fine, I'll make my own alliance!"
  220. [8:18 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: XD
  221. [8:18 PM] Chaineh: request to change the name to SALT alliance.
  222. [8:20 PM] FinalRest: Haha, looks cool KSM
  223. [8:21 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Anyways, basically the idea is to have a group of people, supported by their communities, who help other communities/wikis.
  224. [8:21 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: It's, to be honest, inspired by something I found on FANDOM, but ironically, part of its purpose is to make leaving FANDOM easier.
  225. [8:22 PM] Chaineh: "Support for Active and Late Talent Allience"
  226. [8:22 PM] Chaineh: SALT
  227. [8:22 PM] Chaineh: (okay fine SNOW)
  228. [8:23 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: XD
  229. [8:23 PM] Chaineh: good job fandom.
  230. [8:23 PM] Chaineh: But yeah, I'm down for it!
  231. [8:24 PM] FinalRest: Me too!
  232. [8:24 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So, the reason I bring it up here is because, I'd like to know whether we would be willing to support this idea and let it grow from out of the Database. It'd basically be housed on its own channel here in our Discord for the meantime, but ideally, it'd eventually be its own thing.
  233. [8:25 PM] Chaineh: yeah, sounds good to me
  234. [8:25 PM] FinalRest: Same
  235. [8:27 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Awesome!
  236. [8:27 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: That pretty much wraps up everything I wanted to discuss.
  237. [8:27 PM] Chaineh: I have a couple of things I just thought of, but FR, do you have anything first?
  238. [8:30 PM] FinalRest: I was wondering if we could work on some loose article templates for the pages like characters and worlds that we want to get done. Something we can use as a base to get rid of red links, while leaving foundations for more detailed info later.
  239. [8:30 PM] FinalRest: Like when I needed the Mysterious Tower page so I could write the story section, I just copied the sections from another world page I can't remember and changed them into the Mysterious Tower info:
  240. [8:30 PM] FinalRest: http://www.khdatabase.com/The_Mysterious_Tower
  241. [8:31 PM] Chaineh: Something like this?
  242. [8:33 PM] FinalRest: No, like a base layout for the types of articles. Cause when I see a red link for an article for a character, I don't know where to start if I were to make that page. But if I had a layout base of sorts, like this infobox, with this opening paragraph, with these sections, and all I had to do was fill in the gaps, then I'd be able to help with those articles
  243. [8:35 PM] FinalRest: Hang on, I'll mock up an example for a world page of what I'm talking about
  244. [8:35 PM] Chaineh: Ooohh. I kind of get what you're saying.
  245. [8:35 PM] Chaineh: But yes, please make a mock up for clarification.
  246. [8:41 PM] Chaineh: In the meantime, KSM, we have holiday themes for Halloween/December, yes?
  247. [8:41 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Yes we do
  248. [8:41 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: OH SHOOT
  249. [8:42 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: TOMORROW'S OCTOBER
  250. [8:42 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I AM NOT IN ANYWAY MENTALLY PREPARED
  251. [8:43 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: *runs around like a maniac*
  252. [8:44 PM] Chaineh: OH SHOOT IT IS
  253. [8:44 PM] Chaineh: GOOD THING I BROUGHT IT UP
  254. [8:44 PM] Chaineh: glad we at least have them prepared.
  255. [8:45 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I mean.
  256. [8:45 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Now I want to change them...
  257. [8:46 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: But tomorrow's freaking October 1
  258. [8:46 PM] FinalRest: Well.... in some places it is
  259. [8:46 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: FR's like, "It's already October 1. You're too late."
  260. [8:47 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Our current Halloween assets are this logo:
  261. [8:48 PM] FinalRest: From the future, I give you permission to change it now
  262. [8:48 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: And this background:
  263. [8:48 PM] Chaineh: FR you're too kind ;-;
  264. [8:48 PM] Chaineh: I'll thank you tomorrow
  265. [8:48 PM] FinalRest: You mean you'll thank me yesterday
  266. [8:48 PM] Chaineh: writes in notepad "Thank FR"
  267. [8:48 PM] Chaineh: Yes.
  268. [8:49 PM] FinalRest: Hopefully you'll do a better job of thanking than Sora does
  269. [8:49 PM] Chaineh: HE'S WORKING ON IT
  270. [8:49 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: By change, I actually meant redo the background. It's using the plaid pattern from last year, rather than the new one I built from scratch earlier this year.
  271. [8:49 PM] Chaineh: (maybe change it to the plaid, then when you have more time, make a new one?)
  272. [8:50 PM] FinalRest: ^
  273. [8:50 PM] Chaineh: i'll change the twitter logo
  274. [8:51 PM] FinalRest: Kay, I finished the world template. So basically you can just do the basics as a set up using the relevant sections, then the rest can be added gradually.
  275. [8:51 PM] FinalRest: http://www.khdatabase.com/User:FinalRest/World_Template
  276. [8:52 PM] Chaineh: @KeybladeSpyMaster I need one with a black background without the words "KHDatabase"
  277. [8:52 PM] Chaineh: FR: Ohhh, yes. I like this idea.
  278. [8:52 PM] Chaineh: "Filler" templates if you will?
  279. [8:52 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: How does this look?
  280. [8:53 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Also, here's this one we used last year, though I can make it with the black background still
  281. [8:54 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Thankfully, I left the plaid PSD file well organized, unlike most of my PSD files. Makes this easier.
  282. [8:54 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Should it be glowing orange, or glowing purple? Or use glowing blue like last year?
  283. [8:55 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: @FinalRest Totally agree with the template. That looks great!
  284. [8:57 PM] Chaineh: Orange would be good!
  285. [8:58 PM] Chaineh: Orange for the logo instead of black.
  286. [8:58 PM] Chaineh: Hmm, I like the idea of glowing orange for the background too
  287. [8:59 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: So leave the logo as is?
  288. [8:59 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: It kinda has to be orange, or the cobwebs get lost.
  289. [8:59 PM] Chaineh: Right right
  290. [9:01 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I'll go ahead and update the site, then!
  291. [9:03 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Oooohh!!!
  292. [9:03 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I'm excited, this looks so freakin' cool!
  293. [9:04 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster:
  294. [9:05 PM] Chaineh: SPOOKY
  295. [9:05 PM] FinalRest: So for the templates, would anyone be able to do the ones for other article types (characters, enemies, music etc), cause I don't know what those pages should look like. Then if we could get a page to paste them all on (it can go on the sandbox page I just made, I don't care) for reference, I'd be able to help with the red link banishing
  296. [9:06 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I can definitely do characters and music.
  297. [9:07 PM] FinalRest: I think those are the main ones, so that's great! I'll rename the page I just made, so dump them there when you're ready
  298. [9:09 PM] FinalRest: New page: http://www.khdatabase.com/User:FinalRest/Article_Layouts
  299. [9:09 PM] FinalRest: Also I've gotta go soon
  300. [9:10 PM] FinalRest: I've got nothing else to bring up, so Chain, over to you
  301. [9:10 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Awesome, will do.
  302. [9:11 PM] Chaineh: So I like to pa-ruse around twitch and talk to streamers playing KH games (mostly ones that aren't well-known) and as they look for help in the games, kind of take note at some things they look for when searching online.
  303. [9:15 PM] Chaineh: One of the streamers I encountered was trying to level drive forms in KHII, (Hence why I started working on the Valor Form page) and she found the FANDOM page first (because they come up on google first), and they complained about the ads COUGH so, I redirected them to KHWiki, (because we don't have that info yet) and one of the things they said, was that the article has good info, but has no idea where a good spot to level is.
  304. [9:15 PM] Chaineh:
  305. Attachment file type: document
  306. Valor_form_draft.txt
  307. 7.96 KB
  308. [9:16 PM] Chaineh: So I thought that a section like the "gameplay" section in the draft I have would be a good idea.
  309. [9:16 PM] Chaineh: sorry, the "leveling" section
  310. [9:17 PM] Chaineh: especially that table, which wasn't really outlined at the khwiki
  311. [9:18 PM] Chaineh: But, would "grinding strategies" and "Recommended Equipment" (names not final) be in the scope of our mission?
  312. [9:18 PM] FinalRest: On the keyhole at one point we had a whole levelling page. What about something like that?
  313. [9:19 PM] FinalRest: And I definitely think pages like that would be good. Because you're right, those are the things people look for. Plus it differentiates us from the other wikis
  314. [9:19 PM] Chaineh: I found that page, and I've never seen this before omg
  315. [9:19 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I think this would be great.
  316. [9:20 PM] Chaineh: we could defiantly have a separate page, but I also think having something on the actual form page would be beneficial, since people are more likely to search "Valor Form" or "Drive Form"
  317. [9:21 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I don't know what you think, but perhaps putting this kinda stuff in a page like Walkthrough:Valor Form?
  318. [9:21 PM] FinalRest: I reckon we attack pages like that the same way I did the KH3 treasures: Collect them all on one easily readable page, then as we expand the rest of our articles, we can chop bits of the page off and duplicate them on the articles
  319. [9:21 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: Where's the Keyhole page?
  320. [9:21 PM] Chaineh: case and point: didn't know we had that page
  321. [9:21 PM] Chaineh: https://kingdomhearts.fandom.com/wiki/Level_Grinding
  322. [9:22 PM] Chaineh: FR: A sound idea!
  323. [9:22 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: This is great!
  324. [9:22 PM] Chaineh: oh i guess i edited that page
  325. [9:23 PM] Chaineh: i just forgot. ._.
  326. [9:24 PM] Chaineh: But yes, a page like that would be great.
  327. [9:24 PM] Chaineh: especially since I didn't really want to do the whole valor form page.
  328. [9:24 PM] Chaineh: Are you able to get gifs from your gameplay btw FR?
  329. [9:25 PM] FinalRest: For KH3, if I recorded it I can
  330. [9:26 PM] FinalRest: After I finish going through all the videos I have of my first playthrough I'm going to go back to the game to do specific recordings, so I can add requests to a very far away to do list too
  331. [9:26 PM] Chaineh: neat. Just wondering! I figured it'd be a good idea to get the valor form moves in there. But I can also do that.
  332. [9:27 PM] Chaineh: On that note, I think that concludes the meeting!
  333. [9:27 PM] Chaineh: Here's the To-do list from the meeting:
  334. [9:28 PM] Chaineh: :white_check_mark: Create channel for cross-social media queues
  335. Talk with ** about getting KHuX images
  336. Talk with ** about getting the KH3 audio rips
  337. "Friends of the KHWiki" section
  338. gif resizing
  339. English titles with nihongo template in policy
  340. Worlds get long names, not shortened, fix that
  341. Instate SNOW alliance
  342. Get rid of all <font> and <center> tags
  343. Thank FinalRest
  344. Make Article Layout templates
  345. Create a "Level Grinding" page like The Keyhole.
  346. update various social media for holiday themes
  347. [9:30 PM] FinalRest: Hurrah
  348. [9:32 PM] Chaineh: Thanks you guys for coming, I think we should have 1 more meeting before the year ends. But let me say that I'm super proud of how far we've come in this year and half. I'm glad we made these friendships, and jumped ship onto the database. Pat yourselves on the back guys. ^-^
  349. Chaineh pinned a message to this channel. See all the pins.Today at 9:33 PM
  350. [9:35 PM] FinalRest: I wholeheartedly agree with those sentiments
  351. [9:35 PM] FinalRest: And with that I take my leave
  352. [9:36 PM] Chaineh: Bye FR! It was good talking with you again!
  353. [9:36 PM] KeybladeSpyMaster: I really agree. And I'm grateful to each of you for actually believing we could do this and not giving up. Thanks to all of you! :KHDBFight:
