- CDL Week 10 Wooper vs Hunter&Gatherer
- Replay is at the bottom. ;)
- Slowking was necessary for shutting down mega slowbro, who could have easily gotten out of hand without being toxic'd. I wanted to fit slack off for that to imprison too, but I thought that teleport would be better in case I had a long drawn out battle vs regenerator stall. Speed creeping let it slightly outspeed slowbro to stop a calm mind before it ever began. The DEF points were prioritized over sp.DEF because I knew I needed an answer to Arcanine.
- Sneasler NEEDED to beat Amoonguss, as I knew Ursa might be able to under some circumstances, but not reliably. Also Terapagos was a terrifying prospect to plan against. Thankfully, I knew I couldn't be stalled out because the field we battled on turned prism scale into a consumable that summons an 8 turn safeguard. After that, unburden made Sneasler faster than any of Hunter's picks even with scarf. I knew dark coverage would be needed for bro, and CC for Terapagos.
- Scizor was the pokemon I ran the most calcs on, specifically for the matchup vs Ting-Lu as I wasn't sure if the lead matchup would go as I planned. Scizor had chances to lose, but also chances to win. The defense invested reached a certain break point that made it live earthquake from Ting-Lu with 96.8% of the time, this was with Scizor tanking two EQ's in succession and CCing once beforehand, or so I calculated. I struggled internally over whether to run knock off for Gholdengo or not, and for general support, but decided I needed all the other four moves more and something else would have to stop Gholdy, namely Ursaluna-Bloodmoon. You can guess all you like as to how, I won't share the set as it wasn't revealed in battle and I could be going to playoffs maybe? idk. anyway...
- Frosslass needed to do a few things, hit hard with flip turn to apply consistent pressure to the regen core I was so worried about. Ice punch a half health Amoongus or an Emolga (though I didn't have enough time to calc those interactions with Emolga). Frosslass also needed to beat sp.DEF Ting-Lu and do more damage to mega slowbro if it got high enough sp.DEF boosts. I did consider running Leaf Storm in case I could hit it before it boosted, but I valued Ice coverage more, especially if it meant catching a Hydriegon on the switch to resist one of her STABs.
- Vikavolt was speed creeped to outspeed Ting-Lu, something I figured wouldn't be prepped for with everyone thinking my team could only use a trick room mode. Don't worry, it's still an option for later battles if I have any, but it made no sense to go trick room vs Hunter because he had very slow mons that would easily wall Alolan Marowak and other TR sweepers. Mud shot was chosen because of Arcanine, who I saw as a likely switch into Bug Buzz. The fact it managed to stop a Gholdengo sweep is actually pure happenstance. When I saw the opportunity to click it tho, I sure clicked it.
- Ursaluna-Bloodmoon was a sweeper. It had coverage for Gholdengo and was very tanky. That's as much as I'm sharing teehee (>ᴗ<)
