Backstory:
Kayla's father was one of the White Court Lords trusted by the throne to engage in, what could politely be called, friendly fire wetwork. In short, spiking the guns on their fellow Vampires, poisoning the well for Ghouls etc etc, to make sure the White Court would not get eclipsed by another supernatural power in the real world.
Her mother was one of his most skilled agents and he decided to see if her skills could not be enhanced in a common offspring. The rest is (bed) history.
18 years later, Kayla does just that, operating officially as a 'human' monster hunter aimed to stifle other powers works.
