- Episode 1
- pointless klingon redesign (really, why?)
- they save a species from a storm (Prime Directive: No starship may interfere with the normal development of any alien life or society.)
- redesigned phaser rifles (okay? I guess?)
- cinematic bs in them making the combadge in the sand
- 1st Officer and Captain talk like they've only just met
- Planet in atmosphere (not really a thing that happens until VOY, see http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Planetary_landing)
- a tiny combadge drawn into sand is apparently enough for the Shenzhou to find them (instead of the landmark of the well or something)
- intro sequence says "look at this cool stuff" not "look at this ship doing exploration"
- warp sounds are different (nitpick)
- bridge on underside of ship, has window?
- # correction, it doesn't look like it can fit, tiny bit of a nitpick # ready room couldn't fit on bridge (not enough space)
- architecture is too angular, ship too dark, black and red because ooh science
- new combadges (because the old ones aren't trek enough, or something)
- bridges have windows now (because having a layer of transparent aluminium is safer than a screen behind lots of armour)
- scattering field is a nice touch
- silver combadges on lower rank officers
- why use a shuttle to explore something up close anyway?
- wait, you say the ship has no shuttlebay?
- HOTAS for ship control is a nice touch
- of course the first officer of the ship is going to go and touch the thing instead of follow orders
- the klingon decides to wait instead of killing Michael
- the klingon warlord is killed by someone moving forward
- "acute radiation syndrome" when it's the crack in the visor that's an issue
- a klingon ship that has corpses stuck to the outside as... decoration?
- more of the "human/vulcan mix" character development
- antiproton radiation? genetic recombination? genetic unspooling? I guess but not the best way to do being unconcious in space
- captain trusts first officer, good thing
- "Retreat is not an option" because that's how that works
- "We're not going to destroy another cultures object on a whim" - you're in Fed space, it's Klingon
- hologram. There's a hologram. in 2256. sure. sure. why not. just forget how motion capture wans't common before 2348.
- ahhhh, the issues with windows: you can be blinded.
- apparently you can make sounds to deafen a bridge crew from the outside now. design flaw or what?
- Commander stops mid development to call her mentor (who is also in her head and doesn't know what's going on but somehow does later on but only because she called him? what?)
- another hologram! I almost didn't notice
- a hologram that sits down on a table. what. that doesn't work.
- # just took a break because damn this first episode is boring. Here's a quick summary of the plot so far: a thing in a distortion field, let's touch it, oh klingons, aaa I'm blind #
- the vulcans figured out firing first is good for respect... because their ship was destroyed... wait what?
- the whole crew are straight out of training
- COMMANDER and FIRST OFFICER of the ship chooses to death grip the captain and mutiny the ship because... reasons.
- "you're relieved, Mr Saru" because that's what you'd say if you suddenly walked out of the ready room in a regular situation
- "I'm trying to save you"
- light turns off when there's drama
- klingons turn up because "retreat isn't an option"
- Shenzhou is outnumbered because of terrible situational awareness and command
- Episode 2
- FLASHBACK BECAUSE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
- gotta love how Spock's father is in the episode because yay fanservice
- Vulcan being a dick because logic
- 24 vessels enter (but wait, that means there's 25, what now?)
- they all decide to unify in federation space, because honor.
- vulcan hand in intro because YAY VULCANS HEHE fanservice
- KLINGONS HAVE HOLOGRAMS
- SURE.
- "remain Klingon" maga?
- captain chooses supremacy over honour to try and stop the klingons from attacking
- PHASE CANNONS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTljcAdC82Y
- I give up I cba
- this show is just bad. leave it at that.
- the klingons uniting the houses are better at diplomacy and planning than starfleet
