Great Patriotic War, Fall 1942. Red Army Major Nikolay Sedov leads a squad of scouts deep behind enemy lines to gather intelligence on Wehrwolf, Adolf Hitler's new headquarters in Nazi-occupied Ukraine.
A small group of Russian soldiers with mixed skills are assembled to go on a covert mission to map out the area of Hitler's new HQ in the Ukraine known as Wehrwolf. But it's not until they get to their destination that the squads leader then decides to unveil the true details of the mission.
I am very surprised by this war film from Russia. I guess it is part fictitious, this tale of a soviet commando, during WW2, who had to get rid of Hitler in his headquarters, in Ukrainia. But the characterization is actually effective, convincing and entertaining all long this 115mn movie. Above all, there is a subplot I won&#39;t spoil here. And from this, you get a very surprising and downbeat ending. I am also surprised that no one has commented it yet. Even from Russia. I don&#39;t know if it has been released in a proper way. On DVD or theatres.<br/><br/>I suppose there are more films like this one, hidden somewhere in distributors&#39;vaults. <br/><br/>Worth seeing. Unlike many war films made from these last years.
