  1. A constant reminder for those that used the roulette, was that monsters had taken a form more pleasing to the eye. Even the slime girls could be seen as `cute` at the very least. It also helped to take away expectations one what one could get.
  2.
  3. They could still look ferocious, like the spiders, tigers, and those hellhounds that had showed up on TV were proof of that (Last he heard, that Julie woman was charged for assault, a few other crimes and was dragged to prison kicking and screaming), but the forms they took were pleasing to most people, and he didn't think himself special. So when the game said he would get a basilisk he was wasn't worried about her looking freakish. On the other hand, he was concerned about what she could do to him.
  4.
  5. If he remembered his myths right, the basilisk had an `evil eye` thing that killed anyone they looked at, so he didn't think a monster with that kind of power would be appropriate for this dating service game thing.
  6.
  7. What annoyed him even more was that the encyclopedia was split into two volumes and he only had the first one, which had no knowledge of the basilisk in it. Thankfully he got help from a friend of his that had also used the game, while he had lost his own second volume, he said that the venomous monster girls no longer had things that kill, instead they temporary paralyse at worst.
  8.
  9. A claim supported by his monster girlfriend being part scorpion... at least the bruises and sting marks were temporary.
  10.
  11. He was still wondering about it when he heard his doorbell ring. Getting to the door and opening it, Hector paused to take in the appearance of the monster.
  12.
  13. With the roulette making its way around London, He had seen lamia before, but the dark blue scaled tail and wrists of this one were sprouting white feathers. Her hands were different too, looking like a mix between human hands and bird talons (It made sense to him, given most of the historical art of basilisks).
  14.
  15. Like other lamias he had seen, her hair matched the colour of the scales, but what really caught his attention was the ornate eye mask she had on. It was a combo of black and gold with a single eye in the middle of it that made him wonder if she was a cyclops under it.
  16.
  17. “Umm... hello?” The snake woman asked.
  18.
  19. “...hi.” if Hector was honest, the mask was a bit disturbing. “I take it you the sent from the game, right? I'm Hector.”
  20.
  21. “Ah, pleased to meet you. I'm Cora.” The basilisk said with a bow. “You will have to forgive me, I'm not used to having this mask on constantly...” she said tapping at it.
  22.
  23. “It's okay, I'll help you get settled as best as I can.” He said with a chuckle. Well, at least for he didn't have to worry about her gaze affecting him. “Don't wear that thing often? Y'know, with the eyes and all..”
  24.
  25. Cora's cheeks turned red. “Well, I... don't really meet others that much, so I don't really have a need to use it, but I'll be fine.” She said.
  26.
  27. “Are you sure?” Hector questioned.
  28.
  29. “Yes, all I need is to get a decent grasp of my surroundings like where the walls are, and with my heat sensing, it should be good from there... I think.” It sounded more like she was trying to reassure herself more than anything. “Besides, it'll only be for a few weeks or so. A friend of mine is working on a project that could help me see without harming anyone.”
  30.
  31. A project to help her see? That sounded great. “Let's get you settled in so we can talk about of it.” He said as he grabbed her and to guided her along. He didn't expect her to shudder “Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.. ” he took his hand away
  32.
  33. “No no, it's not that.” the basilisk said, slowly slithering her way forward and felling and reaching forward with her hands to clumsily grab his hands. “It's just... your hands they're so...”
  34.
  35. “So what?” Hector asked nervously. He didn't want to make any sudden movements that might startle the snake monster as she felt up his hand and forearm.
  36.
  37. “Feel so nice, so warm and this scent... I...” she took a long sniff of hector as her cheeks grew red, then without warning, she slumped forward into hectors arms.
  38.
  39. “Hey! What the?” Hector didn't know what happened, did she get knocked out by his scent? How did that work? He decided it didn't matter at the moment, right now he need to get Cora out of the doorway.
  40.
  41. He just hoped that long snake tail of here's wasn't too heavy.
  42.
  43. ~X~ [Four weeks later]
  44.
  45. A lesson that Hector had to constantly remind himself of learning is that without eyesight, the sensitivity of the other senses goes up and (probably) in the case of the monsters, that sensation must go into overdrive.
  46.
  47. Dealing with Cora in that regard had been a ride. He had lost count of the times where he had accidental spooked her and knocking her out, eventually, they had settled down around each other and they would go about the day without the basilisk spending half of it unconscious in what looked to Hector like questionable bliss.
  48.
  49. With the build of resistance, Cora had become bolder in her actions. She had taken to wrapping her snake tail around him and pulling him close, and soon after that hand a knack for constantly shifting around so that the coils rubbed against his body until the sensation was too much and she passed out again.
  50.
  51. He was also starting to get curious about how she looked without the mask, the lingering thought of what could happen with it of being one of the many reasons he hadn't tried to remove it himself. He had tried asking what would happen when she directly used her eyes, but she had turned to such a suffering mess he decided to drop it.
  52.
  53. What he did know that she did have two eyes as the single eye in the mask was more for symbolism than anything else. And that her eyes, unlike the Medusa and that other bird-lizard won't get him turned to stone, so that was something.
  54.
  55. It was a cosy afternoon and he was pouring himself a glass of juice for himself in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. “It's probably the post,” he called to Cora while passing the living room to get to the door.
  56.
  57. He didn't expect to see a delivery woman with a brown box in her hand, or for the delivery woman to be a little on the short side... or part squirrel.
  58.
  59. “Hi, World tree couriers at your service.” She greeted cheerfully. “I got a package here for Miss Cora?”
  60.
  61. “Uh... yeah, you got the right address,” Hector said.
  62.
  63. The squirrel lady smiled. “Great! Just need you to sign for it, I hope you don't mind pen and paper, those tablet thingys are a little too fiddly for us at the moment.”
  64.
  65. “Not at all.” He said signing the paper. He did wonder about her job though. Did this mean there was a courier service for monsters? He decided to talk to Cora about it later.
  66.
  67. “Thanks.” She said taking the signed paper and given him the box and a card, “If you need anything hauled, just give us a ring, have a nice day!” she said and in a blink of an eye, she zipped down the road. Hector simply shrugged and went back inside.
  68.
  69. Cora's head perked up as Hector walked into the living room. “What was it?” she asked.
  70.
  71. “Apparently a monster courier service has set itself up, the camey with a box for you,” he said as he put the box down on the table.
  72.
  73. “For me...! I think I know what it is.” She slithered closer to hector as with excitement. “Could you open it?”
  74.
  75. “Sure,” he said pulling off the tape for the box. “There's something here wrapped in paper and a letter.” taking the letter out he started to read it. “It says is from Lia. `All tests are complete, and it should work fine for you, be sure to contact her if there are any problems.”
  76.
  77. “It's finally done!” The basilisk cheered. She was so happy in her celebration that she didn't her notice something hit the floor. “This is great I'll get too...”
  78.
  79. “Get to what?” she didn't answer …. Cora, what do you-” Hector turned to face the basilisk.
  80.
  81. And shocked crimson eyes stared back at blue.
  82.
  83. ~X~ [Hours later, late afternoon]
  84.
  85. Hector had spent the last five minutes staring at his living room ceiling, trying to make sense of it all. He didn't mind, he was currently wrapped up in Cora's tail and didn't want to disturb her, doubly so as she didn't have her mask on. Sure, he also felt utterly drained, but it didn't hurt to make sure.
  86.
  87. So his friend and the books where right, the eyes of a basilisk would not kill him, but it didn't paralyse him... actually he didn't know how to explain it really. If he was pressed he could say he felt `Everything and nothing`. The couldn't feel his body in order to move it but could feel the sensation of hitting the floor, he could feel Cora's body Coil around him much tighter than ever before but couldn't understand the underlying feel of pleasure running through him. To top it all of the one things he could feel was the most painful boner he had ever experienced.
  88.
  89. It there was one thing he remembered clearly through the whole thing it was her eyes, the deep reptilian crimson full of love and hunger for him that only broke contact to blink. Hector now felt appreciated that mask way more than he already did, if this was what her eyes were capable of then seeing them when they first met would have been... inappropriate.
  90.
  91. He felt Cora's body stir and kept his eyes closed, he doubted the eyes would affect him so soon after being drained but he didn't feel like seeing if he could survive a repeat performance. “You awake Cora?” he asked.
  92.
  93. “Wha?” he answered mindlessly What happened with... my mask! Oh my, I'm sorry!” she started to fret in her panic, and that was tightening the coils around Hector. “Are you okay?”
  94.
  95. “I will be when you loosen up a bit.” He said. The basilisk paused and he felt the tail unwind itself from his body, tickling him a little when the feather end brushed by. “Guess those eyes of those eyes of yours really pack a punch eh?” He joked as he got up. “Didn't expect... well that to happen right after though.”
  96.
  97. He knew Cora well enough that even with his eyes closed he was sure she was awkwardly fidgeting. “Well, I... you are the first human I've seen in years, had my mask on when the sage asked me about the game and I keep wondering what sort of man I would meet. So when my mask fell off and I saw you as opposed to just feeling or sensing your energy I... couldn't take it anymore. You fit what I dream about humans and the way you took care of me for so long... so what better way to show my love than to help you.”
  98.
  99. Hector was honestly a little taken aback by her confession. “Well thank you I-wait... what do you mean help?”
  100.
  101. “My eyes distort your energy, warping it into something not fit for the human body, the only real way to remove it to... well... `relive the body`. You can't do it yourself as it also affects your muscles.”
  102.
  103. “Oh, well that does make sense.” He said thinking to himself that it was a leftover from the monsters days as a predator. A seriously warped leftover but still.
  104.
  105. “I've put my mask back on. You can look now.” Hector did so, and pause for a moment to stare at the topless snake woman right in front of him. “What's wrong? You've gone quiet.”
  106.
  107. “Nothings wrong... nothing at all...” He muttered before he snapped out of it. “Erm, I mean I should get some clothes.”
  108.
  109. Cora must have realised what he was doing as her face went red, but curiously she made no motion to cover her breasts. Instead, she seemed to realise something. “Ah, do you mind going out the room for a while?”
  110.
  111. “Why?”
  112.
  113. “I just remembered they box I got sent, I'm going to need my eyes to open and use it.” She explained. “It won't take long... or at least it shouldn't”
  114.
  115. “What is it?” hector asked.
  116.
  117. “Remember that project I told you about that could help me see? This is it.” She said.
  118.
  119. “Alright, I'll take a shower while I wait, call me when you're done,” Hector said as he left the living room. He did wonder what the thing was. Was it some old magic glass eye that let her see through it? A necklace that neutralised the magic of her eyes? He had to stop there before is imagination ran away from him.
  120.
  121. Cleaning himself up, he headed back down to the living room and knocked on the door. “You ready Cora?”
  122.
  123. “Yes! She called excited.” Hector opened the door and took n the sight of the basilisk that was now looking straight at him, making hi notice the new mask she had on. The mask was stylised like her old mask but had a sort of natural shine to it, and the single eye was now slightly smaller and had more the look of an old camera shutter.
  124.
  125. Cora turned her head left and right, as she did so, the eye moved to keep track of him. “I works! I can see everything!” she cheered, slivering forward to hug Hector in happiness.
  126.
  127. He let her cheering go on until she eventually calmed down. “So how does it work?”
  128.
  129. “Lia is a friend of mine, she's a gremlin that likes to use magitek to make things more convenient for monsters living with humans. She made this `Visor` based on what those camera things. According to the note, it absorbs the magic of my eyes so I can see without endangering someone.”
  130.
  131. “Magitek?” Hector parroted. That was seriously a thing? He didn't expect machinery to play a part in solving her sight issue, but if it worked, it worked.
  132.
  133. “Yep! Now thanks to her I can look at you or anyone else anytime I want without problems.” She said happily. "Although, I do want to see you without the mask again... if you don't mind," she said fidgeting.
  134.
  135. "Sure, just as long as you warn me, I like to be prepared to see those lovely red eyes of yours." A grin made it onto hectors face as her cheeks went a new shade of red. “Well then, let me show you something,” she said taking her by the hand and gently pulling her through the front door. Out in the front yard. Cora got to see her first sunset on a quiet London road.
  136.
  137. “It's... amazing,” she said in wonder, looking around in awe.
  138.
  139. “It's the weekend tomorrow, If you want, I could take you into the city so you could see the sights” He suggested.
  140.
  141. “Really?” Cora sounded like Christmas had come early.
  142.
  143. “Defiantly, now that you and see, I want to show my girlfriend the world!” he said with a smile.
  144.
  145. “I-I-I....” Whatever stuttering words she was going to say as one more hector and a passed out Basilisk in his hands.
  146.
  147. “Huh... I guess today was too much for her....” he said to himself.
